This game lost all Star Wars stuff like the old Star Wars games had. They copy paste the engine and whole game and made some Gamemode changed and model and skin and the Skybox that's all in Battlefront 2 we could do more things.

No story mode, no real command posts it seems either? I only played the tutorial flying mission, which had the crappiest controls,a ""hero"" battle on Hoth with me as Luke and my friend as Vader?? What the frick is that? GAH. And in the regular battle mode you only have one base character and the builds don't even correspond to the personnel it seems and you can't even be a hero in regular battle. AND you can't be on the same team. Recalling older BF games there were several game modes and the fields were way more expansive than what I played on split screen with my friend. i didn't get a chance to try the online multiplayer, but I'll say this- I am not going to purchase this game or any DLC until like a year from now and its a used/pre-owned one, cause Lord knows there'll be a ton of them by this time next year. I see what they tried to do, they tried to appeal the game to TOO MANY demographics of gamers, and it blew up in their face. Look at the reviews, no matter if it's on PS4, Xbox, or PC, everybody feels this game has fallen short.

I give it a 2 because I feel that even though it DID look pretty, there isn't a game, and I bought a game, not a movie.

It's fun sure, I love it. But the game frustrates me more than it gives me enjoyment. Broken spawns, unbalanced.. everything, one-sided game modes like fighter squadron and walker assault. Well hell, one-sided everything in favor of the rebels really except maybe heroes vs villains. Did Dice even play their own game?

TL;DR: MASSIVELY overpriced. You only get like 1-2hrs worth of content and the rest is locked in DLC! Another 50$ please!

    Full review:

    GAMEPLAY:
The weapons that both the Imperial and Rebel side are blasters. Since they are more easy to make and don't require alot of thought to them, they're alright-ish. The thing is, there are only 11 weapons and the spread of all the blasters are so damn random that you never really get used to it and that you don't feel like you actually earned a kill, just luck. And what makes me more pissed about it, is that the DL-44 weapon that is at the top is the EXACT SAME model of Han Solo's blaster that you get in the deluxe edition!
Now that's out of the way there are the Heroes and Villains, classic characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia on the Heroes side and Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Emperor Palpatine on the Villains side.
If you get one of these Heroes/Villains, you're instantly guaranteed 20-30 kills. Boba Fett is particularly troublesome as he has his Jet pack and can jump around giving the normal players not much of a chance to get shots on him.

Now the game modes, there are like 9 of them, Walker Assault, Supremacy, Blast, Heroes VS Villains, Hero Hunt, Fighter Squadron, Cargo, Droid Run and Drop Zone.

Walker Assault is the most fleshed out and played game mode, the rebels have to take down the AT-AT Walkers while the Imperial defend them. Pretty much that. The rebels have to capture uplinks to spawn in a Y-Wing to make the AT-AT vulnerable to attacks. Other than that small time period of vulnerability, the AT-ATs are virtually indestructible. The Imperials have to shut down the uplinks and escort the AT-ATs from point A to point B. This by far is the most fleshed out game mode there is.

Supremacy is a domination style game mode where Rebels and Imperials fight for five key points in a 40 player clash. There's really nothing special here.

    Blast is just Team deathmatch.

Heroes VS Villains is exactly what it is, three players play as Heroes while three players play as Villains with some other players as ground troops. Kill all the heroes on one side and your team or the opposing team gets a point. By far one of the least played game modes but also the best one.

Hero Hunt is one Hero vs 7 Stormtroopers. The hero will soak up LOTS of damage and it'll take LOTS of time to kill the hero. The stormtrooper who gets the last hit on the hero becomes a hero.

Fighter Squadron is an aerial combat gamemode where Rebels and Imperials clash in the airs. Basically Team deathmatch in the air. Some special vehicles appear, that being Slave-I and the Millennium Falcon.

Cargo is just capture the flag.

Droid Run is an escort mission where the Rebels escort an R2 unit from point A to point B while the Imperials try to stop them.

Drop Zone is like moving domination. Escape pods are crashing from the sky and Rebels and Imperials fight for control over them.

    GRAPHICS AND SOUND

Graphics are absolutely AMAZING. Everything is beautiful, from far and close. Amazing job DICE.
Sound Design also is absolutely AMAZING. Everything sounds authentic, you feel like you're in the Star Wars universe for some time until you snap out of it.

    PROGRESSION

Oh boy. Atrocious, absolutely atrocious. Only 11 weapons and these "Star Cards" Basically cards that give you a weapon, grenade or whatever else. But there are these Trait cards that give an advantage to higher ranked people against newer players. Totally unfair.
The customization? HAHAAAAAHAHAHA!!! Laughable. Totally laughable. You only start unlocking the cool stuff when you're high ranked. Even then it's already laughable compared to other Battlefront games.

    VALUE, DLC, MICRO PAYMENTS

IT'S A TRAP! Do NOT buy this game if you're looking for great value! There is LITERALLY NOTHING that you can do other than unlock accessories and Star Cards. After about 2 hours of game I feel like I already saw it all. There's nothing unique.
"Oh but there is DLC coming!" Don't come to me with that **** If a game company isn't giving the players a good initial value then why bother paying for it. I made a mistake buying this game.

I pre-ordered this game because I was a HUGE fan of the first two and the beta was fun, but the standard for fun on a free beta is a lot different than the standard on a $60 game. The beta was essentially a quarter of the full game, and the full game is essentially a quarter of a "full game." They've impressed me by offering more free maps—that's not something I normally would expect EA to do—but that still doesn't excuse them from releasing an unfinished game. And having the gall to announce a $50 DLC package before the original game even comes out is a scummy business practice, and one that really needs to die.

It's a massive step backwards from the last one, which really says a lot considering that one came out ten years ago.

I really am bummed that this game is SO hinged upon the internet. I can appreciate making a game for a market-- that for all I know is made up of online gamers-- but why not round yourself out and add some sort of narrative. What a drag.

Then not but a week after Gamestop starts selling it at a $20 discount. Then the Origin server follows suit.

Spending so much money on the game I ranked up to level 50 today with a help of a friend over a couple months because there's no way I could put that much time into 2 hours of game play and the only cool skins are unlocked all at once at level 45 then 50 (there isn't a thing in the game where they didn't put half the effort into it). I'm probably not even going to play the DLC because there's no way they are going to put effort in this if they didn't on the actual game. Calling the season pass a "season pass" and saying it will come out soon is misleading and saying that the game is "battlefront" is misleading. The game mechanics are ridiculous too, ex.. when your in 3rd person mode you'll find yourself crouched next to a wall and will hit the wall when shooting instead of it shooting from your Reticle, spending 2 minutes trying to find "the right angled slope" to put a turret down when there's no indicator, trying to walk up a slope and being unable to and then walking up the same angled slope next to it... etc etc 3 pages later. I actually take the time and effort to see if something is an EA product now because it feels so much like a scam. The graphics are great and it has 2 hours of game play but the fact that they mislead so much using the game name "battlefront" and have no elements of it in the game, not even conquest gives this rating an auto 0. :( Expand

No story mode to speak of. There is some content to play in single player, but it's nothing anyone will waste time on. Online mode is pretty skimpy and has had a lot of connection issues. I give this game 1 star for the pretty graphics. Probably the biggest letdown of the year. I'm trading my copy in this weekend. I hope the next Star Wars game isn't as bad as this one.

This gets us to the game play. It's too fast to die.
You spawn, you die. You walk a bit, you die. You finally see a guy and get him, but then you die.
    die.die.die.

Not for me. Needs some of the Star Wars magic, not just the great A/V presentation.

Also very expensive for so little actual game. At launch it was $79.99 CDN, and the DLC pack for a year is another $69.99. That is insane. EA needs to pull it's head out. There is no game here, just pretty graphics. They should be offering a year of DLC as part of that ridiculous $*) for a game charge.

Not recommended unless they drop the price, or offer a lot of free content and game fixes.

There is no meat to the game. People only give it a pass because it is Star Wars. This is not a $60 game. Not at all. Maybe $30. At most. Only because of the graphics and sound.

The game removes any feeling of usefulness. You feel like the random Stormtroopers in the films who get shot before they pull the trigger. Then you magically respawn and do the same thing. In other games, you feel like you at least do SOMETHING for your team. You may be the worst on it, but you still feel like you did something. Here? Not a thing. You feel like a plastic bag used for target practice.

They removed Space Battles because why not, and made it become part of the regular battles. Dumb move. The maps are too big for land troops to get anywhere, and because of ridiculous logic, you get shot with a pistol across the map. But they are also too small for ships. You can't go 8 seconds in one direction before you are out of bounds. And the controls....OH MY LORD THE CONTROLS. You can't control them for piss, and if an enemy comes up behind you, you're done. You can't retaliate. If they get behind you, the controls do not allow you to even attempt to swing around and retaliate.

The "game" has nothing there. There is nothing but a few modes, "which arent that great", and thats it. No story, no campaign, no singleplayer, and the price for this, plus dlc is insane. I can't believe they thought releasing this piece of garbage was alright.

But most people(sadly) don't care about a single-player campaign in this type of game, so how is the multiplayer? Well, the multiplayer is honestly, what's the word, BROKEN. If you go on the servers, expect glitches, overpowered weapons, annoying players, a surprisingly small amount of maps(seriously, there are only 4 REAL maps), and some of the worst customization I have ever seen. If DICE had just made this gorgeous game a skin for Battlefield 4 it would have been great.

Primarily, I think the lack of spawn point selection ruins Battlefront. The game might spawn you out in the middle of a field, or inside some tight corridor, but you'll have no idea until after you've selected your weapons, making even the minimal loudout ("hand") choices offered almost useless.

I've always loved the vehicles in Battlefield, where you can grab a tank, boat, or plane almost whenever you want. But with the Battlefront "powerup" system, you'll be lucky to see the inside of an AT-AT or AT-ST if you play Conquest/Supremacy mode for the whole weekend.

The game is also very disorienting, as you rarely know where the bad guys are. Spawn points flip around during the round, so half of them are in front of you and half behind you, and often, they'll start spawning all around you. There's rarely a clear "front line" for more than a short time.

The game doesn't balance teams well either. I've been stuck in 12 on 4 a number of times. I also added my friend in a party as a "partner" (still lamenting the lack of squads), and actually had it fail to make us partners when we joined a server.

Overall, this game is just run and gun chaos which gets boring quickly, and has none of the tactical play, weapon classes, or vehicles of Battlefield, a game which I returned to playing after a couple weeks of frustration in Battlefront.

EA have sold less than half a game at full price then want that amount again for you to have anything close to a full one, so suck it EA, way to ruin one of the most anticipated moments in next gen history.

What did we all love about battlefront 1 and 2? (TEN YEARS AGO!) the ability to command a few troops to batter some rebels? or to navigate a huge map like geonosis and having to tactically choose spawn locations? having ENOUGH space to fly my fighters? being able to play as clones and droids? And of course having an awesome campaign where you take over the galaxy and destroy all in your path?...this is what we loved, but what EA heard was:
'how about scrap ALL of that, make the maps tiny, vehicles pointless, ditch that story mode, and sh*t all over the expectations of eager fans after a decade of waiting/hoping for us to make this thing great, and then sh*t on them again by making half the game a stupidly priced DLC!'

-All weapons feel the same with slightly different damage and range.
-Card system for special weapons is confusing and never seems to work. Sucks even more because most of the abilities you can get are pretty cool. I always seem to place down a turret or force field when I don't want to.
-Not a fan of grenade recharge. Why can't it just be like Halo 3 where you carry two grenades and get more from around the map.
-Very slim pickings of games both on and offline games. Offline missions are extremely repetitive.
-No vehicles in normal game-play, all are in separate modes so far as I could tell. Doesn't feel like old battlefront. (Half the fun of old battlefront was getting into a tank and racking up an absurd amount of kills.)
    -Long load times, lag.

After playing more than four hours I am finished with this game. It is boring, boring, boring. Game modes all feel the exact same, Walker Assault maps are horribly unbalanced to the point where the Rebel's easily have a 95% win rate on Endor, the lack of server browser is appalling, which makes getting into games a headache, and vehicles and heroes spawning in the exact same locations makes players just camp them. I can't tell you how many 60-5 games I've had just sitting on AT-AT and AT-ST spawns, and there's nothing the enemies can do about it.

    Do NOT buy this game.

Somewhat lives up to it's predecessors, but not fully. It's tries to be what it used to be, but in order for it to have all that the old games had, you must pay 120 bucks. Nonetheless, it's a fun and entertaining game and has phenomenal graphics. 9/10

The old games were built on classes. This created synergy in teams and roles. It also meant an even field with no pay to win. There is pay to win in SWBF reboot. One gun has pretty much to stats in everything, so it is the gun you need to be competitive, and if you want to unlock everything you must get paid DLCs. This is unacceptable for a full price game. There is less content than most F2P games aswell.

There are no space battles, half of the fun of bf2, but there is lame sky battles that consist of escorting a ship to safety. The controls are dumbed down and it is no where near as fun as trying to destroy the enemies mothership in bf2. No strategy, just chaos.

Vehicles are few in the ground games. They are also not varied and usually consist of perhaps an X wing, which you get from getting power ups on the map. The old games had many vehicles of all shapes and sizes like AT-AT's, Roller droids and a range of ships. Only two main ships appear for each class in the flying gamemode, and many vehicles are no longer controllable, like AT-AT's. Half of the old games was being in vehicles- do you just hate dun, EA?

Also, maps are bland, basically open spaces and battles are clusterf*cks, not coherent at all. No where near as well made as the old games and I don't like the look of them as much. They have better graphics, yes, but they are just bland and variants of grey and brown.

There is no meaningful single player campaign, just a God-awful survival mode. The old games had a fun single player where you played as a soldier rather than the hero and progressed through maps telling the whole star wars story from the front lines, from the prequels to the originals. Also, Galactic Conquest is gone, and instant action.

Galactic conquest was very fun but the loss of instant action is awful. It allowed friends to team up or oppose each other, and play against relatively good AI in objective games, not a rubbish survival with crap AI. The game is barebones with, and even without DLC.

The lack of prequel inspired content and very few things from the original movies, there is a lack of things to do and it doesn't feel that Star Wars-y.

I didn't expect much, EA, but this was the worst game of 2015 and craps on the brand.
Final score 0/10- hate this terrible game.

They wanted to create big battles, yet they filled it with npcs. Meanwhile games like Planetside have 1200 people on a giant single map. The technology exists, but you gotta put in some effort. It's obvious EA doesn't care about making decent games, and only care about money and money from dlc with as little effort as possible. Oh, and any gane that you pay $60 for, pay for dlc, and still slaps on microtransactions is absolute garbage.

To make things worse, the shooting mechanics, balance, etc are all off. So it's a pretty skeleton of a game with Star Wars in it's name. F off with this trash.

Unlocks are a joke, and the only worth while cosmetic customizations are only available at max rank, so you have to grind for days just to look a little better than your peers. But that has a drawback because being the only shadow trooper on hoth or tatooine will make you stand out, and look like a nice and juicy target. The only people giving this game anything above a 5 are "professional" critics who were paid to give it a good review, or diehard star wars fans who think that just because it has the words Star Wars on the box, that makes it good. Not here, it's a just a chaotic shooter with Star wars sounds. We played the open beta thinking this was a taste of a much larger game. No, that was it. We all paid A grade price for one third of a game. The weapons are not configurable, you cannot form squads. There is nothing to do with space in this edition of Battlefront. DICE even invested time in creating a "diorama" feature to demonstrate skill but grants you nothing but a 3d model to look at. No perks, no benefits, no new weapons upon achieving said mastery. You can play as a hero, which is extremely over-weighted in the game, and have seen players get 96-0 K/D which doesn't sound like balanced game play to me. All the guns shoot very similar and in most cases can behave like sniper rifles but with different damage ratings at longer ranges. What's most offensive is that EA expect you to pay for a season pass that is the same price of a whole new game and all we get are duplicated maps, and no new mechanics. We got 17 maps in 2005 and a good range of vehicles. Finally the vehicles are pretty limited for rebels, and the empire has the classic AT-ST and AT-AT walkers. The rebels get speeder bikes which by the way are virtually un-usable except for straight line transport. EA really botched it. Ironically the companies who have nothing to do with Star Wars made a game that was nothing short of an insult to Battlefront fans. Had EA properly consulted with LucasArts and built Battlefront with the players in mind (and not just profits) they could have produced a game that would have eclipsed them all. But it was not to be... My advice, AVOID there is better out there for you... Expand

With the new film of the space opera saga finally on the big screen and the release of Battlefront's new sequel, both after a decade overdue, it is definitely the best time to be a Star Wars fan.
