Whether you buy Spyro Reignited out of sheer nostalgia or just because you need a nice game to play together with your kids, this remake will not disappoint. It’s still one of the best family arcade games around.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a solid remaster for those looking to play as gaming’s most famous purple dragons.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy plays well, looks fantastic, and is rarely an overwhelming or difficult set of adventures, with small worlds that are simple to conquer and ideal for a younger audience. By the time of the third game, things are a little more gimmicky, and there is a repetitive nature about the constant running around and collecting, but these colourful platformers still manage to deliver real delight if you try not to blast through each game one after the other.

For anyone exhausted by endless upgrade systems, infinite unlockables, new skins and every other contrivance meant to ensnare the contemporary player, Spyro’s uncynical good time is a worthy escape. This is one that shouldn’t be put away.

It’s a faithful and fun remaster, although it doesn’t push the boat out in any way.

Although Spyro the Dragon and its subsequent two sequels haven’t aged as well as one would hope, Toys for Bob has done a good effort to put out a remaster that does the nostalgia justice. Control and design issues were part and parcel to 3D platformers from the era, but while can't be celebrated except when viewed through an incredibly thick pair of rose-tinted glasses, the overall series remains charming, delightful, and well worth checking out for interest's sake, if nothing else.

Remakes so good they flatter the original games, but whether or not they deserve this level of star treatment the end result is three enjoyable and accessible 3D platformers for all ages.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a good compilation with three excellent platform games from the first PlayStation. Redone from scratch, the game offers a nice new design with some technical flaws, and the gameplay feels a bit old, but it's still a good nostalgic trip for the whole family this Christmas.

It’s a visually rich release that’s bound to appeal to new and veteran players, but it’s also one of the shallowest remasters this console generation has seen thus far.

Toys for Bob delivers another beautifully restored slice of 90s nostalgia, although the mechanics could have also done with a polish.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy retains the magic of what made the franchise such a hit in the late 90s and early 2000s. There’s a timelessness that lives in the core of the Spyro games, proving that the franchise can easily contend with other big names in the nostalgia wave. 20 years later, I’m delighted I can still experience the same feeling of wonder and awe in the games that defined my childhood.

A rarity, in that it’s an Activision release without a nasty predatory catch, Spyro is a ton of fun and it’s held up incredibly well.

It stays true to the originals with only the major graphic overhaul and some minor improvements in other areas (mostly menu related). The controls are fluid and responsive, nothing feels stiff at all. The price for all three games is damn good. Spyro was the first Playstation game I got back in the 90s and I loved it then, and it was strange realizing how dated the polygons looked when I tried revisiting it a few years ago. The dragons look fantastic. Being able to play this is a dream come true.

These games aren't difficult by any means nor are they terribly long. If you played the Crash Bandicoot remaster then know this follows a similar formula as do most PS1 platformers.

The flight levels could give some people trouble but that's about it. You have to be perfect with some objectives. These games are remembered for their fantastical elements and whimsy, not brutal difficulty. Most people would probably rate this an 8-9, but I give it a 10 based purely on my own nostalgia of the franchise and how grateful I am that we got an honest remaster without bloating the game with extra content to make it seem relevant. It knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything more.

TheThis game has an amazing production design with gorgeous visuals. The gameplay seems to work at first when playing a bunch of levels. The problem for me was that I realized that every level throughout the whole trilogy basically had the same goals which became extremely repetitive and boring to me and i didn't have motivation to keep playing. The gameplay was a little too simplistic also. Great game for kids though. Full Review »
