    This game is perhaps the best remake for platforming games. Most developers ask for $40 or more for these type of games, but these developers are only asking for $30. This game is good for a $30 game. The level design and puzzles are great. The gameplay mechanics and controls are smooth. The story and characters are funny.     The developers added a new multiplayer mode and it's fun. it is a 2-player co-op mode where you have to survive waves of enemies as you progress to islands. You can play online or local. Most developers are too lazy and greedy to add multiplayer in their games and have the audacity to charge $40 or more. The fact that the developers added multiplayer in a $30 game shows that they actually want players to have fun, rather than making cashgrabs. I definitely recommend this game.    … Expand

    What a time to be alive. I played this game as a child a long time ago, so to see it come back in all of his glory its mind blowing. I will finally have a game to give my little son to play and i will be proud of him playing this. These mad lads from Purple Lamp Studios actually delivered one most amazing remastered licensed game to our generation. What is next ?? Simpsons: Hit and Run?? IWhat a time to be alive.     IGN and Gamespot can kick Patrick's rock, cuz they dropped the ball on this one.

If you are a fan of Spongebob, doesn’t matter if you’re 7 or 70 years old, this game is for you!     Первое. Главный герой неимоверно чувствительный филантроп, который готов помочь каждому вне зависимости от их расы, вида или пола. Он (Губка) и сам является представителем секс меньшинства, что придаёт ему допольнительный шарм, поэтому мне, как ярому гей активисту намного интересней играть за тщательно    Давайте я объясню по трём параметрам почему эта игра заслуживает всемирной славы?

    Первое. Главный герой неимоверно чувствительный филантроп, который готов помочь каждому вне зависимости от их расы, вида или пола. Он (Губка) и сам является представителем секс меньшинства, что придаёт ему допольнительный шарм, поэтому мне, как ярому гей активисту намного интересней играть за тщательно прописанного Губку бобу, чем за сквозную Элли из известного релиза.

    Второе. Актуальность темы. Да, возможно некоторые уже не вспомнят те самые мультики, которые шли по СТС, но Губку боба мы будем помнить вечно, а темы которые там подымаются элегантно преподносят сценаристы игры. Даже через нарративные дизайнерские решения видно, что авторы глубоко анализируют тему распада общества на морально высоких (Главные герои игры) и низко падших зомби, готовые лишь шнырять по заранее прописаным маршрутам (Медузы). И таких примеров в каждом из эпизодов множество

    Третье. Геймплей. Можно играть за Сенди у которой никогда не появиться живот от злобного мужлана. Разве только за это не стоит ставить десятку?

    Итог. Игра по всем параметрам отвечает стандартам современной игровой индустрии, а глупые критики так и не увидели бриллиант в тонне дерьма последних релизов. Однозначно 10 из 10.    … Expand

    Игра просто божественна, концовка игры заставила меня плакать. Но я не хочу вам ничего спойлерить, так как концовка будет уже не такой неожиданной и гениальной!     I had to buy this in order to take away the filthy feeling that I got after watching TLOU2, this game plays better than the PS2 version and the graphics are soo lovely to see, this game actually gives you a good feeling when you play it, I rather gave them my money than the TLOU2 hahaha.

    Remaster done with care. Took what worked about the original and amplified it. Didn't notice any of the original's problems. I was afraid of the game being dumbed down, but it's challenging and it's fun and that is all that matters.

    I’ve gone on record to say that “SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom” was one of my favorite childhood games. I played it a lot as a kid, mostly just goofing off and playing random sections of the game for fun. When I finally fully beat the game back in 2017, I found that it aged really well, and that even if the game borrowed heavily from platformers like “Super Mario 64” and “Banjo-Kazooie,” it was still an extremely fun game that felt very faithful to the “SpongeBob SquarePants” license. Not long after I beat the game, THQ Nordic made the announcement that they were partnering with Nickelodeon to bring back old games. That announcement alone got me excited, as THQ’s old catalogue of Nickelodeon games were in heavy rotation in my childhood, and I was ready to see what would come of this. The possibilities were endless, and there were plenty of games I was hoping would get brought back, but I can’t be the only one whose first thought was an HD re-release of “Battle for Bikini Bottom.” And sure enough, a year later, that was announced. I was really excited when it was announced, and despite some mixed early reception, I was still interested in giving the game a shot. And honestly, even though I was looking forward to it already, I was honestly surprised; I don’t think I anticipated enjoying this re-creation as much as I did.
“SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated” is a re-creation that doesn’t exactly rebuild the original game: much of the gameplay feels similar to the original game, as the changes I’ve noticed feel centered around the change in visuals. While most of the gameplay remains the same, I don’t think that’s much of a bad thing: the gameplay in the original has aged nicely, the controls still feel fluid, and a lot of the most frustrating moments of the original game are actually fixed: I found the Mermalair’s ball puzzle much less stressful this time, and I found that levels such as Rock Bottom and Kelp Forest were much easier and more fun to traverse here (could also help that the increased lighting made things better). The visual upgrade itself is also fantastic: I was a bit iffy on it at first, but the colors are extremely bold and just pop off of the screen here. The new animations are also a joy to look at, and make the game feel more visually polished than the original game. Furthermore, I think that a lot of what made the original game so charming remains here: the fun storyline, the humorous characters, the energetic collection aspects of the game, and the clever callbacks and references to the show (complete with a few new ones to highlight the show’s growth in meme status) make this a “SpongeBob SquarePants” game with a clear respect for its source material, and its original release as well.
Now, I won’t say the game is perfect: a part of me wishes that some of the voice acting got updated a bit. For the most part, the voice clips consist of lines in the original game, and a few unused recordings that were left in the files of the original game back in the day. I am nitpicking a bit, and I understand some characters would be harder to re-record, but I did wish if nothing else that Clancy Brown came back to re-record Mr. Krabs’ lines for the game, instead of keeping the imitator from the original game. Speaking of unused content, while I do appreciate that they wanted to implement some of the cut content from the original game by putting Robo-Squidward into the new Horde Mode, I think the new mode does feel a bit uninspired, and I do think it can dull out a bit quickly.
    Other than those, though, I was very pleasantly surprised with “SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated,” and I will say it definitely brought back those great memories that I’ve had playing the original game for much of my life. Even if it feels like the same game to some, I think there are some nice subtle improvements to the original that help this one to play better (and naturally, it looks better), and I must say this was an impressive, faithful “Rehydration” of one of my favorite childhood games. I’m very excited to see what THQ Nordic does next with their Nickelodeon partnership.

    Movement feels smoother with stretch-and-squish animation that was impossible to achieve in the original, and rough patches like the ball puzzle in The Mermalair or the slow boss battles have been overhauled to a point that makes the classic version truly feel its age.

    The only let-down is the contents of the Reef theater in the third section of Bikini Bottom. The original showcased concept art and cut ideas, whereas Rehydrated essentially has a handful of screenshots from the game. This is hardly a complaint, and hold little rein over m overall thoughts.

    Given that this is out on all major platforms (and for only $30) there really isn't an excuse not to pick it up.

    THQNordic and PurpleLamp managed to enhance a beloved cult-classic while keeping what made the original great in the first place intact, and made this THE BEST DAY EVER!    … Expand

    The game is total eye candy, a different style from the original for sure but in many ways it's a good thing it differentiates itself from the original like this.

    A few glitches than are more frustrating than enjoyable, such as oddly small hitboxes on Spatulas making certain challenges a pain in the ass just because you miss the Spatula too many times. Random and extreme frame drops that have no relation to location at all since I could pass by the same place multiple times and not experience it every time and some times only once in one location.
    And one crash but thats UE4's special Fatal Error bs.
    A few miscellaneous bugs and glitches here and there that make the game odd and sometimes dumb like not jumping when on a trampoline or Bubble Bowl hitting a pebble and being shot into the stratosphere.

    These are my only real issues with the game and most of them can be ironed out quite well. Once the majority of these glitches have been resolved the game may as well be a 10/10.    … Expand

    Best child game we played ever with my daughter. Low metacritic score reduces metacritic reliability. If you dont have pediatric knowledge you cannot give points. Newbie who thinks he s a gamer . Read here well. I spit on your game knowledge.

    Although the gameplay and character models feel refreshed (Patrick’s limbs are delightfully floppy), the level design pales when compared to newer 3D platformers. Fully remade,2 including a remastered soundtrack, Battle For Bikini Bottom proves to be fun on a technical level, but the barren worlds, many NPCs you cannot interact with, and vexing objectives (the rolling ball in Mermaid Man’s lair, anybody?) make it fun and frustrating in equal measure. Fans won’t want to leave this one at the bottom of the sea. [Issue#178, p.82]

    Lots of charm and lots of content, still worth the investment if you’re a nostalgic soul, looking for a fresh dose of bikini bottom action. Some aspects - the amount of texture pop-in, to name one - undeniably feel a bit dated, though.
