    Another disappointment and this had a lot of potential. The story seemed dark and interesting at first but just went lighthearted and very bland. At least the characters do get some screen time but still are uninteresting. The gameplay was the most disappointing aspect of this game. The boost gameplay somehow got so downgraded from Unleashed.     Sonic forces is amazing start if you new to the Sonic franchise, I Have nothing bad say about the gameplay except with retro Sonic he just never really feel good to use and always horror to play but he's maybe 20% of the game so is not that bad, soundtrack is amazing and it may be the biggest reason to why i enjoyed it so much ,

La banda sonora diria que es lo mejor del juego, pero la historia es bastante tonta, los personajes estan ahi por gusto. Classic Sonic y el Avatar se juegan bastante mal, los niveles son super cortos y Sonic va tan lento q es hasta automatico un monton de cosas q "hace". En los trailers te mostraban a los 3(+Zavok) jefes mas famosos de toda la saga y solo puedes luchar contra uno, mientras q los otros solo te enfrentas en unas cutscenes bastante tontas. Este juego ciertamente es decepcionante y mas con lo tanto q esperaba de el despues de Sonic Mania y Super Mario Oddisey.… Expand

    I know modern and the OC levels had their own problems but I loved them, if the game was all OC levels and sonic levels I wouldn’t mind In fact if they fixed a few problems and removed classic sonic I’d give this game a 10.

    In fact the only reason it’s getting a 7 right now is because it’s the first boost game we’ve gotten in 7 years (thanks a lot Nintendo) and it’s the only boost game I can play at the moment without setting up my PC or taking out my ps3 from the closet but if there was another boost game that was on the PS4 or a remaster of generations I would give this a much lower score.

    I enjoyed this game, I played it every day I came back from uni even powering through the classic levels, we had mania it was perfect so why is he even here? Much worse may I add.

    This game feels rushed and I really wish they took their time but I feel like they wanted it to compete with odyssey which was a HORRIBLE decision if that’s what they were going. I really wish they took their time and polished this game instead of rushing it and I’m really disappointed, it looked so promising and even if I did enjoy it my heart breaks for the game because of its potential to be so much more.    … Expand

    Why all the hate? This is not the best Sonic game ever made, but it's still a very well made one. You have your share of bugs and issues, but the gameplay is still smooth as butter, framerate is solid, and there is a TON of fan service in this package. The soundtrack is amazing, with blends of modern electronic, industrial, and retro synth/chiptune. Also, for the first time ever, peopleWhy all the hate? This is not the best Sonic game ever made, but it's still a very well made one. Also, for the first time ever, people can actually immerse themselves into this cheese-tastic "war" story. You can create your own character (serious or ridiculous) and get dumped into the middle of an all out battle for survival similar to that awesome Saturday morning cartoon. Sure there are a lot of "on rails" sections, and some of the game has moments where it plays itself, but Sonic has been style over substance anyway. Stop with all of the harshness, and enjoy the game for what it is, a dumb, campy, cartoony action game. If you go in with no expectations or preconceptions, you will more than likely enjoy this game. I have easliy put in over 20 hours trying to collect everything, and all of these issues that people are having are not as common as you'd think. There have only been a handful of times where the controls derped out on me, and one or two clipping issues where I fell through the edge of a platform for whatever reason. The game is being patched, and Sega seems to be putting this one in the limelight, with free DLC (new episode with 3 stages that give some backstory to characters, and cosmetic stuff, including SANIC shirts. SEGA EMBRACED THE MEME!!!), and possible more that will add more to this new world of Sonic.It's only 30-40 dollars, not a full priced triple-A title. there are other games that are asking more for much less content. ($30 for a VR fishing game in FF 15.... seriously?) I can't force anyone to play this, but know that it is NOT as bad as people say. I have a love/hate relationship with Sonic games, and this one, where I had very little interest in, won me over big time after playing it myself.… Expand

    one caveat to this review: I'm not sure I would have liked the game as much as I did, if I had access to Mario Odyssey instead. Sonic Forces is a great platformer for the PS4, where it competes with Knack. however, on other systems, you may have better options available.    … Expand

    I am a sonic fan. Since I played Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast, I was hyped a lot at this game.
    But Sonic Forces is... I dunno man. It's just my wasted childhood your looking at. Sonic Team once again making the same mistakes in 3D Sonic game ( especially Sonic 06 ) and that just sucks...

    Sonic Forces is not the worst sonic game but Sonic Forces is one of the most uncreative game of all time. Don't get me wrong, the dialogue and the voice acting seems improved a lot, the cutscenes are cinematic and the graphics are impressive, even though the graphics are worse than Generations and Unleashed. However, Sonic team is making the same mistakes over and over again, making that game is so uninspired that Sonic just FORCES you guys for giving SEGA money and of course the game is just a joke.
    Although Sonic Mania was released and it's a great game, Sonic Forces once again become one of Sonic's mediocre game. Not only than that, but it's also killing the Sonic Franchise and that's the worst moment at any cost.    … Expand

La jugabilidad esta bien hasta cierto punto, sonic moderno tuvo sus típicas fases frenéticas y de implemento bien la nueva jugabilidad del avatar que aparte tenia una personalización infinita y para todos los gustos, el único que fue en declive fue el de Classic sonic que “cojeaba” en aspectos como su velocidad que sentía a veces que se frenaba y en el spin dash que era lo que me gustaba del del generations, eso si implementaron el drop dash que podía mas o menos fácilmente eclipsar lo demás.
    En general me gusto la historia, no era un sonic adventure 2 obviamente pero mejor que los últimos juegos después de unleashed. Eso si tenia huecos argumentales y algún que otro fallo de lo que podía ser la historia como que : “por que silver aparece en la resistencia así de la nada” o, el poco o nulo protagonismo de Chaos. Lo otro bueno son la participación constante en la historia de los amigos de Sonic , excepto de tails y Classic sonic. Lo otro bueno son los niveles, que en general todos me gusto mucho el diseño con una calidad grafica bastante buena para ser una portátil donde también los 920 p no se notan, aparte opino que me impresiono como sega logro hacer que el control del personaje sea como de 60 fps a pesar de que el juego valla a 30fps .Lo ultimo malo seria que los jefes son fáciles y un poco igual los niveles que de ves en cuando te cuesta sacar una S.

    5 años han pasado, no solo he logrado un juicio critico completamente superior a esa época si no que, incluso en aquel tiempo sabia en mi interior que estaba siendo benévolo con sonic, por que honestamente en aquel tiempo también me sentí decepcionado, pero nunca me pareció justo el trato que estaba recibiendo sonic y por eso decidí defenderlo. Aun así y aunque siga defendiéndolo en muchos sentidos, creo que debo ser justo con este juego y exponer mi nueva perspectiva critica.

    Evidentemente era un juego con el propósito de mantener al sonic moderno "vivo" en el mercado, uno completamente mediocre y que es hasta un poco triste.
    El diseño de niveles de sonic moderno se vio limitado a pasillos con apenas una que otra ruta diferente que al final vuelve al mismo camino rápidamente, no se recompensa en casi ningún sentido el esfuerzo por querer encontrar mejores formas de pasar el nivel, sobre todo por que hagas lo que hagas o como quieras hacerlo podrás obtener una S super fácilmente. El personaje es super estático y el homing attack es mucho peor utilizado en el diseño del nivel, sin decir que se siente mas torpe, lo demás lo típico, todo muy automatizado, super corto y con físicas limitadas.

    Nuestro personaje tiene un customize bastante pobre, personalmente no exijo mucho en un customizador y aun así sentí que todo era super simple. El diseño de niveles del personaje esta OK, realmente no es que me haya impactado ningún nivel y en realidad no soy el mayor fan de los wisp ni de cerca, pero si admito es algo que diversifica mucho la manera en que puedas pasarte los niveles, y los con Sonic en general estaban bn.

    Classic sonic sigue siendo medianamente disfrutable, pero su control y físicas fue contundentemente empeorado con respeto a generations, a veces tiene un diseño agradable, a veces es completamente olvidable.

    La historia es de lo peor de todo sonic, Ken Pontac creo que ha sido el escritor desde Colors y es de lo mas reprochable que ha tenido Sonic desde que existe, colors si bien tiene un desarrollo super infantil y con un sonic simplificado a solo bromas, no se tomaba en serio y el contexto seguía siendo un poco interesante, en Generations la historia es una justificación básica sin relevancia, Lost World fue una cosa rara, pero en Sonic Forces la historia se pasa de pretenciosa, intentado tomarse en serio varias veces, con personajes que están absolutamente infantilizados. Un montón de fanservice , ya sea los villanos, los secundarios, sonic clasico o tails, todos tienen un impacto casi nulo en lo que pasa y solo son justificados por una "guerra" de la que ni sabemos de como se llego ahí, y creando incongruencias completas con algunos como silver o Knuckles (como casi siempre). Aparte, ¿y las esmeraldas? ¿No era un momento obvio para ocuparlas o buscarlas?. Y bueno infinite es un villano planísimo y "edgy".

    Lo demás, apartado grafico decente, visual bastante bueno, música que incluso siendo obviamente mainstream la considero bastante buena (No la mejor de un Sonic ni de cerca), y pues todo al final para un cierre fácil y con un mensaje que queda super intrascendente y tiempo de juego mínimo, que ni si quiera el precio reducido justifica.

The Game play isn't really that much interactive and non linear compared to the previous Boost Games. The Classic Stages aren't that great and feel pasted on and the Game is very short.     Sonic Forces pecou muito, acertou em algumas coisas, e acho que ainda não conseguiram fazer a formula do sonic funcionar bem no 3d.
    Lembrando que essa é a minha analise, baseada na minha experiencia, vcs tem a liberdade de comentar e só peço respeito, sei que o grupo é legal mas, fan é fan né, eu tbm me considero fan do sonic, por isso quis jogar pra poder argumentar.

    Sonic Forces overall is a good game. Great soundtrack, fun and solid game play, good story, and awesome visuals. Sonic Team did well with this one.

    Not nearly as bad as the critics have said. Not as flawless as Mania but still excellent, Sonic's speed is improved since Generations which felt a bit limited, the Avatar is fun to play as and to customise and Classic Sonic doesn't play too well but he only has like seven levels. The levels are short when you're good at them but believe me they can stretch out for ages when you're not. TheNot nearly as bad as the critics have said. The writing/story is a big step up from the previous games, and the music is top-notch barring maybe a couple of Classic Sonic's level themes. Really doesn't deserve the hate it gets, everyone's been way too nitpicky and quick to bash on it simply because 3D Sonic and custom characters.

    Sonic forces is a lot like Sonic Colors to me. But better and worse for different reasons. Lets start with the gameplay. The Modern Sonic stages control considerably better in this game than all the other boost games, besides Colors. It is faster than colors though, on the bright side. He can actually turn while going fast and this warrants there being no drift, although I think theySonic forces is a lot like Sonic Colors to me. But better and worse for different reasons. He can actually turn while going fast and this warrants there being no drift, although I think they should have kept it for tighter turns where boost pads are usually used or sonic just auto turns. The only complaints I have with Modern Sonic is his jump is slightly odd feeling to me, more stiff than the other games, and I also think the level design in his stages was WAY too linear and short, but that goes for most of the stages. Besides the Classic ones. Next, the Avatar. The Avatar is like a modern Sonic with worse controls, a worse jump, and lower speeds with no boost. Yet still somehow enjoyable. Guess it has some charm to it as you get to play as your own character. The level design for the Avatar is better than the Modern Sonic stages. but still short and pretty linear. The amount of customization for the Avatar is very impressive and fun to mess around with. Last and very much least, Classic Sonic. To put it shortly: he'es meh. His controls are better and worse than generations for different reasons. But the dropdash is cool, I guess. I would give the gameplay a 6.5/10

    Next: the story. It's great! Finally an actual story that isn't just a bunch of crappy "jokes" and cringe. My one complaint is the way Tails is portrayed. He's a **** **** Oh and Infinite's backstory was WEAK. So I would give the story a 8/10

    Finally, the music. Hit or miss! I personally liked most of the soundtrack and loved a select few of the songs, and FINALLY LYRICS AGAIN in a sonic game! Missed them. But I also miss Crush 40. I really love the theme Fist Bump! It reminds me of Sonic Heroes. But still, it's subjective. I would give the music a 9/10.

    Final Score: 7.5/10 (rounded to 8). The game is good, but nothing special. Feels like a test for future games more than a full on game.    … Expand

    Sonic Forces this game is not only amazing, it's by far the best sonic game I've played so far I love it, it has a good story, good graphics, stunning gameplay, and it lets you be your own person this game definitely passed by my standards.

    I created a metacritic account to give this game a fair review. I found Sonic Forces very fun and one the better games in the series. It is not as good as Sonic Mania it's still a great game. I would easily put this on my top ten favorite Sonic games. Even though this game isn't as good as the other games in boost quadrilogy like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations I would still say it isI created a metacritic account to give this game a fair review. I found Sonic Forces very fun and one the better games in the series. It is not as good as Sonic Mania it's still a great game. I would easily put this on my top ten favorite Sonic games. Even though this game isn't as good as the other games in boost quadrilogy like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations I would still say it is as good or even better than Sonic Unleashed. This game does have some faults with short levels and some level design but I'd still play it. I think this game is really good. I'll list the pros and cons right over here.

    Pros:
    1:Boost,Avatar,and Tag Team gameplay styles.
    2:Great soundtrack.
    3:Avatar creator.
    4:Beautiful graphics.
    5:Episode Shadow DLC.

    Cons:

    While the visuals, music, and character creator are all good stuff, the painfully short levels, the gimped gameplay, plot hole ridden story, and overall lack of the fun of previous Sonic games makes this the worst in the boost series, and one of the biggest disappointments of 2017, especially coming after the amazing Sonic Generations.

The gameplay of Avatar is a little bad, having some small gameplay problems, such as broken jumps and sudden speed gain, a little of that also occurs with Classic Sonic.     Sonic forces is a great game I love it, how the levels are and the bosses, I don't care what the haters think about it it's awesome and you can create your very own character and team up with sonic and his friends, even though the custom character doesn't talk, but I don't even care if does or doesn't talk love it and I give it a 10/10 rating, keep running sonic.

Also the music is either very good or very bad, which isn't normal for most other Sonic games.     Pretty good game, best 3D Sonic game since the Adventure days. Controls are still a little weird, but the new custom character thing is cool. I wish they'd stop forcing us to play 2D though. If I want to play 2D Sonic, I'll but a 2D game. I want to play 3D Sonic. Still, at least you don't have to do homing attacks on musical notes like in Generations.

This game honestly feels like SEGA trying to push the Sonic the Hedgehog series in everyone’s face instead of focusing on some of their other gorgeous and well-developed series. SEGA needs to admit that Sonic is a dying franchise and has lost its potential in 2011, with Sonic Generations being its last good Sonic game (excluding Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed). This game ultimately and unintentionally admitted that Sonic is a dead franchise.

    There were so many things I just didn’t like about this game in general. First, what’s up with SEGA over-hyping Shadow, a dying character in the franchise? Don’t they realize there are other characters in the series that are better written than him and should be receiving the attention they deserve? Secondly, I didn’t like how all the levels felt exactly the same, they felt overly repetitive. Lastly, it feels like SEGA shoved E-123 Omega, Classic Sonic, and Shadow right into this game because they needed some more characters and “better gameplay,” whilst not realizing that it just didn’t work. It felt like they were trying to remake Sonic Generations by adding Classic Sonic, who was probably the most random and most pointless character in the game, you could have erased him entirely and the story itself would have been fine.

    However, I’m not going to deny the fact that the one thing I loved about this game was that SEGA and Sonic Team gave the players the option to customize and create their own characters. It’s something the Sonic community has been waiting patiently waiting for, and SEGA practically mastered it.    … Expand

    overall sonic forces is a decent game i enjoyed my time with it with all the new ideas they put into this game

    since drifting is not in the game at some moments while boosting in 3d sections i would find myself flying off the edge to my death

    classic sonic isn't Incorporated into the plot well and his levels i found quite frustrating with how many times i died maybe its because i'm bad at 2d sonic but it just didn't seem right

    my final problem is the length it is shockingly short and i wish it wasn't as most of the stages are great fun    … Expand

    Ich find das Spiel gut! Ich mag die Modern Sonic Level und der neue Avatar ist auch richtig cool! Das designen macht mir richtig viel spaß und die Level mit ihm sind auch cool. Die Classic Sonic Level mag ich auch aber weniger als die anderen. Sonst ist die Story leider zu kurz geraten. Man hätt da noch viel mehr draus machen können. Aber dennoch find ich das Spiel nice!!

    Não há condições mais de ser fã dessa franquia, essa franquia deixou de ser amada a muito tempo deste de 2010 eu já tinha indícios de não a acompanharia mais a franquia ai veio Sonic Boom eu desisti, com a vinda de Sonic Mania e Sonic Forces e coloquei esperança na mesma de novo com a vinda do Sonic Mania pois tinha sido um jogo fantástico que cumpriu a proposta de me dar nostalgia e ser um jogo feito com amor e depois esta super hypado com o Sonic Forces pois ia ser uma nova aventura com novos vilões e tudo que eu sempre queria desde a era Adventure/Unleashed/Heroes. Mas a impressão que tenho é que a SEGA/SONIC TEAM não se importam mais com boa parte da Fandom eles não tem interesse mais em fazer um jogo do Sonic com Carinho e amor pra fazer com que os se sintam respeitados, eles só estão preocupados com que nota o Lixo da IGN vai dar pro joguinho deles, só estão preocupados se os Boomers dos anos 90's vão sentir nostalgia jogando e falar frases genéricas e sem fundamento nenhum pra ganhar audiência em cima dessa Fandom quebrada.
    Essa franquia atualmente só é feita para Bebês de 4 a 6 aninhos com e para boomers do Mega drive que falam um monte de merda " SoNIC NAUM PISISA DE HISTÓRIA", " OS AMIGOS DELS SÃO INUTEIS" "NÃO POD LEVA SONIC A SERIU" "KKKK GADA GO FESTI" " A FANQUIA É PA QUIANÇA" "ANTES ERA TUDU LIXU PQ ERA SERIU" "É SO SUA NOSTALGIA DUS aDVENTURES VOC NUM TEM SENSU QUITICO e mais um monte que vocês já estão cansados de ouvir.
    No final de disso tudo eu continuarei longe dessa franquia e acho q se voce que tem um grande apreço por jogos como Adventure 1 e 2, Heroes, Unleashed, Riders Series, ate mesmo os StoryBooks, ate esmo pelo desenho Sonic X ou SAtam e quadrinhos e recomendaria voce ir para outra franquia porque atualmente a franquia Sonic só vivi através de Nostalgia dos anos 90's, memes, piadas idiotas e besteirol desenfreado. Se ainda quer continuar amando essa franquia e acompanhando ela fique a vontade, mas EU não tenho mais nenhuma esperança nessa franquia de que SONIC vai voltar a ser como era antes e nem deque eles vão fazer algo totalmente novo e ambicioso como sempre fizeram. " MAs voce não esta Hypado para 2021 que terá um SOnic Mania 2 e mais outro jogo do GADA GO FEST????" eu NÃO comprarei mais jogos dessa franquia ate eu realmente sentir que a SEGA realmente esta se importando com seus personagens e franquia e esta interessada de levar a franquia a novos níveis, patamares. Ate segunda ordem eu ainda continuo não sendo mais um um fã de Sonic assim como já tinha começado a desgostar de Sonic desde 2010 e em 2014 ter deixado oficialmente a franquia.
    Ate a próxima Sonic, que talvez nunca chegue essa próxima, mas vou ficar esperando essa franquia me impressionar novamente.

    Los escenarios lucen bien, con una buena gama de colores y por tanto un estilo visual llamativo. No obstante, no son diseños que nos quiten el aliento ni que uno disfrute "detenerse" a ver.

    SONIDO:
    Piezas buenas y piezas malas.

    El balance del sonido es malo y no se percibe una sintonía entre música, efectos y voces. Además de que el trabajo de doblaje es también deprimente.

    INNOVACIÓN:
    En lo personal no entiendo el propósito de Sonic Forces, y no me parece que aporte nada en ningún sentido.

The weapons were a bit strange, but it added a unique dynamic to the character stages. The Avatar, while fun to create and customize, boils down to nothing more than a plot device and the possibly biggest Mary Sue (even though your OC could be a guy as well) in any media form I've seen in my life. The gameplay for the avatar is nothing more than just "Modern Sonic, but no boosting and a gun". The level design is atrocious from start to finish. The music has tracks that are fantastic (Sunset Heights), tracks that are decent (literally all of the Avatar songs), and tracks that are outright painful to listen to and even think about (Faded Hills). Overall, SEGA seriously needs to reevaluate EVERYBODY at Sonic Team, cuz I do not trust anyone in those offices to actually make a decent Sonic game anymore.… Expand

Sonic Forces might not be the best thing ever, but it has both good and bad level design but mostly good, and it is always supported by the soundtrack and visuals, I just wish if they actually knew what the story was about.     All in all, it's not a bad game. It isn't an amazing game. This is the kind of game I like to get for a PS+ freebie. Something I'd never buy, but was plenty enjoyable enough to put some time into.

The game opens with Sonic getting pummeled by some of his past antagonists while Tails sits in the corner and watches his best friend get beaten up... NO REALLY. Cut to 6 months later, Sonic is believed to be dead, Tails has "lost it", Knuckles is a war general and Silver is there despite the fact he shouldn't know anybody in this timeline... no... really.

    Returning this game are some nostalgia bait, Classic Sonic is back and controls worse than ever, he has no momentum and will stop like he has bricks tied to his feet, his gameplay is the worst. Chaos from Adventure, who's in like 2 scenes, dies in one hit and doesn't even get a boss fight... TTTTTTTHANKS SEGA. Shadow who does nothing before the real Shadow shows up and Metal Sonic, who is Metal Sonic and does Metal Sonic things. Overall a bunch of nostalgia bait, and Shadow, that ultimately goes nowhere and just wastes your time, and as an Adventure fan p*sses me off. Why did Chaos come back? Why didn't he get a boss fight? WHY DID TAILS COWER FROM HIM WHEN HE DEFEATED CHAOS 4 IN ADVENTURE?! It's just aggravating.

    The story is frankly boring as sin, Sonic "dies" for 3 minutes before he shows back up, your OC is pointless but I guess kids will get a kick out of it, I know I would've as a kid, and he side characters do nothing, Knuckles is a war general... again yes really, but he doesn't actually... DO anything, he just tells you what to do and but some explanation for why HE'S the general would be nice, also isn't he meant to be guarding the Master Emerald? How does he have time for any of this? Then there's Silver who just... shouldn't know any of these people, and where is Blaze? I thought she was his guardian or something, where'd she go? And hey remember how he beat the p*ss out of Sonic in 06? Well he doesn't last 5 seconds against Infinite, which should make you think Infinite would be nigh on unkillable, but he has 3 whole boss fights and he goes down like a chump in each one, ONE IS AGAINST THE OC! ARE YOU TELLING ME MY OC IS STRONGER THAN SILVER!? WHY?! Then there's Shadow who... literally does nothing, he shows up to explain that Eggman makes clones of the 4 villains earli- wait why does he make clones of Metal? He's a robot just make more... and Shadow there are so many Shadow clones JUST MAKE MORE SHADOW CLONES. Finally is Tails, Tails finds Classic Sonic and they embark on adventures together, that's it, it feels really weird and disjointed. There's also Espio, Vector, Charmy, Rouge, Gamma and Amy but I don't care, do you care? Let's just move on. The actual PLOT is about Eggman taking over the world and rising up against him with our OC and Sonics... god I hate that there are two Sonics now. The game culminates in a big climactic showdown that is about as climactic as you'd expect from a game where Knuckles is a war general, which is to say, it's not. The game is littered with bosses that offer zero challenge and 3 of them are the main villain, he really isn't very threatening at all. The final boss against Eggman is pretty uneventful, you do a part as Classic Sonic with magical purple blocks that just kinda appear I guess, then a running section as Modern Sonic where you gotta dodge lasers and other hazards while boosting using Whisps to gain more boost... Didn't the Whisps leave in Colours? Why are they here? I could accept it in Generations because it was a celebration game but here? makes zero sense. Anyway the game ends with a big "my friends are my power" spiel, OC leaves, making you wonder why he was even here to begin with, they elude to Classonic coming back, I swear to god Sega if he's in Frontiers, and the world is back to normal, all in like 3 hours, at least it was short.

    You'll notice I only have 800 words to wrap up my thoughts on the gameplay, I've done that because there really isn't much to say, it's all automated, turning corners, jumping, speed boosts, most grapple points for the OC, it's all done for you, it's incredibly boring and I hardly remember any of the 30 stages because of it.

    To sum up, Sonic Forces is bad... REAL bad. It has an asinine story with characters who just AREN'T those characters, nostalgia bait that serves no real purpose, boring and automated gameplay, and a mostly forgettable soundtrack. There's no reason to ever play this game, just play Mania instead.    … Expand

    Overall enjoyable with some frustrating levels. Getting to make your own character and having that character directly interact with Sonic was an overall enjoyable experience. Most of the levels were pretty fast paced but the worst were definitely the "Old" sonic levels.     The only good thing about this game is literally the music, and maybe the character creation.

    the story although good is purely executed. Everything good is happening in an exchange of dialog. Eg. you destroy the death egg by running from 1 side of the map to the other and then hear knuckles saying hooray you did it. Epic moments have no impact.     This game was alright but the concept of making your own Sonic character was just really weird for me. Just watching your creation with Sonic and the others made me cringe a lot. The story however was decent but the start of it went so fast (no pun intended)

Or a good ending fight with infinite, because is the same one as metal sonic fight. So its really recycled. The story is nice, but too short, there are stages of only 30 secs or 1 mimute, qnd that's really short, the bosses are very easy to beat and the controls feel strange sometimes… Expand

Oh, sure, I can easily say, "At least it isn't like '06 or Boom, right?", but I don't want to. Sure, Forces is perfectly functional. It's a finished product, but I'm tired of just settling for mediocrity when it comes to Sonic.It was a good thing that Sonic Mania came out in 2017, because I'd rather we didn't settle with something as painfully mediocre and forgettable as Sonic Forces. Oh, sure, I can easily say, "At least it isn't like '06 or Boom, right?", but I don't want to. Sure, Forces is perfectly functional. It's a finished product, but I'm tired of just settling for mediocrity when it comes to Sonic. What few good ideas this game has gets buried under a sea of wasted potential.

    The story, by far, is the biggest waste of potential that I've seen since Sonic Generations. Eggman takes over the world, and Sonic, along with Classic Sonic and your original character, are off to stop him like any other game. There's some other classic villains like Chaos, Metal Sonic and...Zavok, for some reason, but they are so horribly under utilized. Zavok and Metal Sonic get sub par boss fights while Chaos just gets crushed in a single hit during a cutscene and is never seen again. Classic Sonic is only in this game because of how it loosely ties with Sonic Mania. Otherwise, CS has absolutely nothing to do in this game. Even your original character has little interaction with the rest of the cast. And the new villain, Infinite? One of the most inconsequential villains in the entire franchise. He pisses off as quickly as he came, leaving no lasting impact outside of admittingly dope edgelord theme song. Speaking of which, not even the music can salvage much of the experience. It's normally the one big saving grace for even the worst Sonic game, but here it's filled with largely forgettable EDM anthems.

    So how about that gameplay? Well, it's divided up into three gameplay styles. Modern Sonic works similarly to that of Unleashed/Colors/Generations where you boost at high speeds in both 3-D and 2-D fashion. Unfortunately, it is nowhere near the level of enjoyment of either of those games. Sonic feels so much more loose and floaty compared to Generations. While the control for the previous boost entries was never perfect, Generations was a solid step in the right direction. This game supposedly comes from the same people who made Colors and Generations, so why does this gameplay not reflect that? Not to mention just how flat and short most of these stages are. There are quite a handful of stages in the game, but most barely last for over a minute and a half, and much of Modern Sonic's gameplay boils down to just boosting forward. You'll get occasional fun romps like escaping from the Death Egg, but there's not enough of that.

    Classic Sonic is even worse. It's bad enough that he has nothing to do with the story, but he controls worse than he did in Generations (and it's certainly not comparable to Mania). General movement with him feels much more stiff and sluggish than what it should be. I'd say, at the very least, his levels were a bit more interesting to go through than Modern Sonic's, but that's not saying much.

    New to this game, of course, is being able to create your own Original the Character. This is by far the best part of the game. You have several animal types to choose from, each with their own unique attributes. You get to customize them to your hearts content using the various gear that you collect throughout the game. Your avatar's main method of attack is using Wispons (Wisps from Sonic Colors used as weapons), each with their own strengths and weaknesses that your character can utilize in the stages, whether it be gaining access to certain areas that require a certain Wispon or just simply there to make plowing through enemies easier. Some Wispons are clearly better than others, but they are the most interesting gameplay mechanics in Forces and do offer a bit of replay value. Plus, there's just something so charming about being able to create your own OC that you can either take seriously, or just be as dumb as possible. On the occasion you'll play as both your avatar and Modern Sonic, and while it doesn't fix all the problems with their design, it's at least more interesting than MS on his own.

    Even though this game is *technically* finished, this still feels undercooked. It's the equivalent of turning in a C- book report. You did exactly the bare minimum you needed to do to pass, but you sure as hell aren't impressing anybody. Unless you really are the most die hard of Sonic fans, this is a hard pass. Just go play Sonic Generations.    … Expand

It's an alright game...it's just I grew up playing Sonic as an amazing 2D platformer. Still to this day, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is my favourite games of all time even against the brilliance of modern games. For me know matter how good a 3D Sonic game maybe ISonic Forces is not a bad a game for the style of game it is - it's light, adventurous, fun, and tries something a little different. It's an alright game...it's just I grew up playing Sonic as an amazing 2D platformer.     Sega even tried to lure people to buy the game using classic Sonic, he controls so weirdly and just annoying to play for me...

    Besides, what is the point of Classic Sonic if the game switches to 2D very often? Most of the time you'll be in a 3D section in like 20 seconds, and most of the stage in 2D.

    Sonic friends are here as well, such as Sliver? What the hell is Silver doing in this game? But none of them do anything, not even Tails!

    Bosses are super easy, except the final boss but still too easy.

    You can make your own character which is cool... i guess... but you can only use your OC in some stages, which is lame.

    The game has great graphics and such, but the huge downgrade is in the final area of the game, because there are a lot of copies of the same model, which looks like sprites, all over the place, and it lags a bit as well at that part...

    The music is ok in my opinion, but my god it's overused, Sonic Generations didn't have that problem with the music, neither the SA series.

    It's never explained what happened to Eggman at the end, neither Infinite (Sure, he gets teleported into a beacon but what happened? He isn't a robot!)

    The game is really short, shorter than Sonic Mania, which i don't get why...

    But this game is a very mediocre 3D Sonic game...

    This game is severely underrated, it has an amazing soundtrack, may even rival the soundtrack back on sonic unleashed, customisation of one's character was fun and endearing, levels were different and fun. The story itself was underwhelming and cutscenes between characters felt artificial.

    This game is really fun. But i wouldn’t call it good, it’s only decent. Most of the levels are uninteresting, only about a 3rd of the levels I would consider interesting. Classic Sonic was clunky as hell, the story was confusing and the game was way too short. However, I really like the idea of creating an OC, even with how cringe some of these outfits are.

    Really good game it got oerhated due to not being what it should've been or followed what Generations did but it's still a very fun game and it does have it's issues but doesn't hide it's not bad.if you really want to improve the experience go play it with improvement mods.

    Sonic Forces is a incredible game with beautiful graphics and a incredible Story the Classic Sonic playability is not bad but the speed of Classic Sonic now its slow but good to finish Sonic Forces is a magnificent game both for fans of the Blue Hedgehog of SEGA and for those who are not

    While it looks and sounds great on an S-rank run, regular play is messy and unsatisfying. Mania's Classic Sonic must wonder what nightmare dimension he got sucked into. [Jan 2017, p.90]

    As the latest generation of the Sonic series, Sonic Forces retains the high-speed game experience. To comply with the trend of the times, Sonic Forces reduces the difficulty, hoping to use this strategy will attract new players who have never tried this kind of game. Unfortunately, the length is not sufficient enough to satisfy players, and too much repetitive content makes this game boring.

    The efforts for modern concept of the legend came out of the way. Sonic Forces has obvious problems with the transition between two perspectives as well with the movement and speed. Only customization possibilities and several new weapons saves it from the average.
