Feb 17, 2018SoTC is a good game, but the core gameplay is pretty shallow if you ask me. You beat the game once and there is basically no reason to play it again since there is only one tactic per a boss. Still, I would recommend it because it's a decent game and it's pretty cheap.

Mar 18, 2018Emperor's New Clothes. Wooden characters. Terrible controls for the the horse; your means of navigating a lifeless world, a barren expanse to flesh out the time between each boss fight. The camera is awful and can be nauseating on a large screen, especially when navigating large open spaces. Actually the whole thing is a bit depressing, maybe that's what makes this a Masterpiece for some?

Feb 9, 2018Game has a great feeling, music is amazing. This could be such a great hit but the camera work ruins otherwise perfect experience.

Feb 18, 2018Five Word Review: Climb and destroy giant colossi.
Favorite Thing: The colossi look fantastic. The bigger the better!
Least Favorite Thing: Controlling that tank-turning, slow starting and stopping horse can be frustrating.
Date Completed: 2018-02-18
Playtime: 5h
Enjoyment: 7/10
Recommendation: Yes. Just don't expect much of a story. -
-
Mar 20, 2018This game looks new but feels super old and out dated. If this game was $15 then it would be an 8 but since its $40 its a 5. Its ok but just too expensive for what they are offering. I would have given a penalty on the lack of any multiplayer automatically dropping it by 2 points if this title was $60. This is 2018 if games are $60 without MP there is a serious problem. Just saying -2 if no MP.

Jul 31, 2019Decent game in terms of graphics and atmosphere. I didn't have high expectation on the graphics but the game really surprised me on that front. I did, however, have trouble on the controls. It is simply frustrating to drop from the colossi once and again just to climb back up again and do the simply stabbing trick. The combats themselves lack versatility and the plot should have more depth.

-
May 20, 2020jugado en PS2, PS3 y PS4

Dec 7, 2020Never played the previous versions. It's not bad but at the same time not great. The only selling point is the 10 boss fights. There is literally no story.
-
Jul 19, 2020Shadow of The Colossus.
pros
- evoke a sense of wonder.
- boss fights are fun at time.
- very atmoshpheric.
cons
- The Camera is a huge issue for me, and im not one to ever complain about cameras in video games unless its really messed up. like in shadow of the colossus. it prevented me from having fun for a majority of my play through -
Mar 23, 2020I was really really hyped for this game and when I finally start playing the hype was over. I tried to look at this game only as art. It helped to make me finish this game, but when I was trying to enjoy shadow of the colossus, it just felt forced.

-
Apr 2, 2020It's must have been a great game for PS2 but for PS4 it is a bit boring. But at the same time it has some mystery which doesn't allow to leave the game without beating it.
It worth to be played just because of colossuses which are great! -

Jul 30, 2020The most overrated game I've ever played. Short, empty world, no-story, boring, the worst controls of the entire generation and a camera that you're going to hate. You'll only go from point A (the temple) to point B killing colossus. That's all. Maybe the original game was a masterpiece in 2005, but this is overrated as **** And, believe me, you're gonna hate the bloody useless horse.

Jun 27, 2020I understand this was a masterpiece for PS2, and still is a pretty fun game. But I think it's kind of simple and empty in today's standards. It's just 16 boss battles (which are pretty good) but that's it! there is nothing to do in between. And BTW the controls are horrible! possibly the worst controls I've ever seen in a game!

Mar 11, 2020This is undeniably a wonderful game, however it is held back a bit by one of the worst cameras in recent memory. The control when fighting works well enough though the button layout is a little strange.

Dec 29, 2020Potentially a decent game hindered by a dodgy camera. I felt nothing during my playthrough. Padded rise and repeat. From a visual angle it has an original(ish) look. Some of the boss fights were fun. Most were frankly dull. No challenge here either. Amazed so many critics appear to think this is a PS4 classic. Nothing to see here, not for me anyway.
-

Sep 14, 2020Played this first time on PS4.
Does it look great? Yes!
Are the gameplay controls good? No.
Is it fun to play? No.
Would I recommend the game? No. -
Sep 27, 2020The camera is very curved, the horse gets stuck in the stones all the time, glitches pile, control curve, not responsive. The task is good but the implementation is lame.

Nov 9, 2020This game is not really great you are doing the same stuff whole game and after 3 hours of playing its really boring.
-
Nov 21, 2020Visually beautiful, but terribly frustrating controls. I love the idea of the game. It made me feel like I was taking part in a journey and was a great experience, however, it's far away from masterpiece. Unusual and, once again, beautiful but unfortunately repetitive.

Apr 9, 2020I was hyped thinking this was an action adventure game. But instead this is a puzzle game to figure out the colossi weakness before finishing it off. As a result I used walkthroughs more often, as I was stuck frequently trying to slay each boss. Controls are also whack, when trying to climb or ride the horse. The only time I was interested in the game was during the ending.

Mar 23, 2021Although a little intrigued me, I was unable to go beyond 2 hours of gameplay. It looks like Zelda but it's not ...
-
Jun 1, 2018Was kinda hoping for a sequel or a switch version because remaking it for the third time is only a thing nintendo can do properly. But is was still fun.

Jan 2, 2019Beautiful visuals and gorgeous graphics. The controls and gameplay were too frustrating for me to deal with. Wasn't my type of game.
-
Dec 31, 2018Overall it's a nice game. I personally like remakes of game of the old days. But I personally think this game is in a way a bit hyped. I did not feel too much excitement while playing it. The atmosphere and game-play were a bit boring for me. So this is one of the few games I stopped playing before finishing.

Mar 11, 2020As a game SotC is awfully short a simple boss rush, with rough controls and camera.
But it's also a beautiful and original experience, with some moments of pure fantasy.
The OST and story are good. -
Dec 20, 2018This could have been a 8/10 or higher if the (camera) controls weren't so bad. It is so bad it makes the game almost unplayable and i notice i enjoy they game far less than i should because of this. Unfortunate, as this game could have been top notch.

Apr 23, 2022The atmosphere is on point, but I found the rest of the experience not as rewarding as most players. Sure, exploring a mostly empty world would have been nice, but I guess I was looking for more impressive vistas or things to discover.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)Apr 24, 2018Perfectly polished and improved cult game – even with better controls! Killing giant monsters has never been so much (melancholic) fun. [Issue#283]
-
Apr 24, 2018A tribute to the Fumito Ueda will delight the veterans of the original game same as introduce this classic to the newcomers, who are not tuned on a nostalgic note. An ideal opportunity to improve your video game education and a wonderful experience in the same time. Some clumsy controls and occasionally stubborn camera can’t ruin the great experience.
-
CD-ActionApr 3, 2018It’s a good remaster, but frankly I find it unnecessary. Those who have already played the game on PS2 or PS3 will find nothing new here, and those who didn’t have the chance to get acquainted with it probably will not understand what we saw in Shadow of the Colossus 12 years ago, when gaming reality was completely different.
