Normally I do not play 2d platform games but i did buy this title because I remember original Shadow of the Beast back when Amiga 500 was the queen of gaming. I was genuinely shocked to discover that original Shadow of the best is included inside this game. So we get two games for price of one. For someone who played Shadow of the Beast on Amiga 500 this is priceless bonus. For someone who played Shadow of the Beast on Amiga 500 this is priceless bonus. As to PS4 version of the game I must say that i do like it quite bit. the in-game graphics are very nice, fighting mechanics are fun and music fits perfectly to this game. The game is challenging like the original game. Some levels are surprising like playing in pitch black darkness. You can unlock many things through out the game. The game is not perfect, it has some faults , some boss fights are a little bit confusing , cut scenes look average but these are minor complaints. Overall this is good title and great value. Another solid title form Sony !

Beautiful visuals, great music and level design. this game deserves high score just for the fact that you can unlock original AMIGA 500 Shadow of the best game ! Great price. two games for price of one.

A good tribute to the classic Amiga 1989 , challenging gameplay and excellent graphics. But some problems in mechanics , loadings through time-consuming and being a little boring , makes Shadow of the Beast a good game, but it could be better.

A surprisingly deeper that you'd expect side scroller beat em up. Shadow of the Beast is a reimagining of a game born of the 80s, a remorseless and difficult game which the majority of today's gamers would never have heard of. I only ever played the sequel, which I still vividly remember as probably the hardest game I have ever encountered.
That aside Sony's reboot has its high points

That aside Sony's reboot has its high points and its low. Graphically and presentation-wise its fantastic, the art direction and music are brilliant and unique. The game itself has excellent flow and is broken up into several "Encounters" per level, however that flow comes to a screeching halt in the second to last level where you find yourself puzzle solving and platforming in a pitch black castle. The platforming is where the game truly loses its footing due to unresponsive and clunky controls, which is the complete opposite of the combat which can end up looking like a coreographed bloodbath.
Beast is short and the game promises replayability by dangling secrets and unlocks along the way however I just can't see the point with so many other AAA titles out there to sink your time into.
Over all Shadow of The Beast is a valiant attempt to reignight the platforming, side scrolling beat em ups of yesteryear, however for me I need a little more meat on the bones

Since I was too young to fully appreciate the original version on the Amiga, I was excited about this remake. While it didn't disappoint me, it didn't have a groundbreaking impact either.

The addition of an instant-kill feature for enemies feels refreshing and adds an extra layer to the combat. The artwork is visually appealing and aligns well with the serious tone of the story.

The platforming aspect is a bit awkward, but it doesn't demand much from the player. The game is also relatively short, especially when not aiming for full completion, although I'm not sure if that's necessarily a bad thing.

Entretenido.

The reboot is an brutal arcade with good look, old GoW style, controls are not very responsive sometimes also for its arcade intent, sometimes it's painful for it. The loading screen level is about 1 minute, if you play it in harder mode you could use 1-2 hours of the loading screen of your life, not a good thing.. Shadow of the Beast is an Arcade Reboot. Deal with it. Realised good? Yeah.. It offer what it should. Expand

Unfortunate proof that the classics of old don't always hold up well when dropped into the modern day. [July 2016, p.78]

Despite its numerous missteps, it's clear that this is a labour of love for its creators, whose fondness for the original is well know. [Aug 2016, p.118]

Shadow of the Beast has the atmosphere and raw beauty of an alien, hostile world going for it, but other than that the game is simply boring. [07/2016, p.61]
