Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game is amongst the best that the beat em’ up genre has to offer. The game feels like one of the few purely-good entertainment that this volcanic eruption of a planet we reside on has to offer.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition is a must-buy for any fans of beat ‘em ups who missed it the first time around. With the game hitting all consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store, it is now going to be archived for a much longer period of time and its reach won’t be as limited as it was before. The gameplay is satisfying and it remains one of the best brawlers ever – with a top-tier combo system and soundtrack that is as fun to listen to now as it was a decade ago. The included DLC from the original game’s release adds extra value as well, and gives the game an even longer shelf life.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition is exactly the game you remember from ten years ago. It’s a complete nostalgic joy that honestly didn’t really need to be touched up or fine-tuned. Ubisoft chose to preserve the experience where it mattered rather than alter it in any significant way. Instead, the crucial missing component of online play was worked into the game, drastically increasing its appeal for just about any player. Though not without the same faults that were in its DNA from the beginning, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition will have you grinning from ear to ear with its irresistible charm that gushes from every pixelated pore. Finally, Scott’s journey is complete.

The perfect hit of nostalgia. Whether you pick it up digitally or treat yourself to any of the physical goodies on the way from Limited Run Games, this game isn’t a cult favorite without reason.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: the Game is one of the best modern beat-em ups, despite a lack of much competition in the genre. It’s gorgeous visuals and amazing soundtrack complement its surprising depth in combat perfectly. Scott Pilgrim is back, and hopefully here to stay.

The classic beat 'em up title is back, this time as a complete package. The oldschool gameplay still works wonders. Newcomers will definitely want to give it a try, while the addition of extra characters will undoubtedly draw old fans back into the fold.

The landscape of the beat ‘em up genre may have altered in the ten years since Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game first released, but it’s return is wholly welcome. A wonderful compliment to the graphic novel series, and a stylish throwback to the delightfully gaudy brawlers that boomed and bloomed loudly in 90s arcades. Add friends for maximum impact.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game made good on the promise that movie tie-in games usually failed to keep, and the Complete Edition proves that virtually the entire package is just as enjoyable over a decade later.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is just as fans will remember it and that alone will be worth the price of admission for a lot of people. Experiencing the levels and hearing the music again is a nostalgic experience, in a variety of ways. That being said, the game’s clunky combat has been virtually untouched, which will be a turn-off to gamers looking for a refined beat ‘em up experience. And the crashes were not something one would expect from a port. Still, getting together with friends and bashing baddies on the way to winning Ramona’s heart is a fun distraction for a few hours.

It’s well worth a look from die-hard fans of the series, and newcomers will find plenty to love about the game and its source material.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was a Beat'em Up classic in 2010, and the Beat'em Up hasn't aged a bit over the past decade. The Complete Edition is generous in content, inspires fans of the genre to outdo themselves in a full-bodied experience, and remains punchy with its extremely well-thought-out combat system.

I’ll say it plainly. I love Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. I loved it 10 years ago and I’ve only come to appreciate it more since. I identify with Stephen Stills as talented, but also very sleepy, so I delight in being able to play as him in a game again. Yet for all of my love, it definitely has a tedious grind that might annoy people that aren’t into River City Ransom-style beat’em-ups. That said, with or without the movie or comics it’s based off of, I’d still consider it one of the best-in-class of side-scrolling co-op brawlers. Good fighting? Check. Catchy soundtrack? Check. Easy to access co-op? Heck yeah. Get together with your friends online or off and play this one over and over again. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game has finally returned. Welcome back, Scott. We’re here to watch you kick Gideon’s teeth in.

Fans of classic brawlers really can't go wrong with Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game – Complete Edition. It's gorgeous, satisfying to play, and has a positively banging soundtrack from pop/rock band Anamanaguchi that stands the test of time wonderfully.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World still gets a lot more right than wrong. It understands pacing and variety. It builds stages with gameplay arcs in mind, which is refreshing in a genre that can often devolve into mind-numbing button mashing. And it fits like a glove with its source material.

As someone who owned the original, It brings joy to heart that this game is once again made available to those who want it and on a platform which is a bit more evergreen than consoles *cough cough PC cough cough*. I will say that there are other titles people could’ve been enjoying if they wanted an excellent beat’em up experience (such as Fight’N Rage and River City Girls). Now if you’ll excuse me I need to find the cash I need to buy the bevy of physical edition of this title from….you guessed it, Limited Run Games. Cause they can’t delist it if you own the disc/cartridge!

Scott Pilgrim Versus the World Complete Edition certainly aims to be a faithful collection of this decade-old RPG brawler but with a near-zero list of improvements, it's tough to call Scott Pilgrim's adventure anything more than a pre-wrapped gift to the fans.

Best enjoyed with a group of friends, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game deserved to be saved from digital purgatory. However, not even the thumping soundtrack and pleasant visuals can save it from being a rough go for solo gamers.

At its heart, Scott Pilgrim is a simple beat ‘em up that struggles with pacing. But once it gets going, it reveals itself to be a colourful and engaging throwback to an era of video games long gone. And while it is better played alongside some friends, Scott Pilgrim’s got enough personality to make it worth experiencing retro Toronto even by yourself.

Barring its numerous bugs and shoddy netcode, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition captures the spirit of the IP quite well. The leveling system makes the title a bit of a cakewalk, but the presentation makes up for its shortcomings.

It's really a simple little game, but it's one so full of personality. Not only does it contain all the major beats of the story you'd expect, but there are lots of small references to other games to find in Scott's chunky, pixelated hometown. The music adds to the effect a lot; Anamanaguchi's chiptune soundtrack is a delight. If you enjoy a straightforward beat-'em-up, this is well worth a look, even if you're not a fan of the source material — though it definitely helps.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game – Complete Edition is an enjoyable throwback to beat ’em up games and having access to the game with all the DLC after its several year hiatus is a welcome return. Its short campaign makes it ideal to whittle away a few hours in a single sitting with friends. It’s patterned after retro beat ’em ups and does a good job of recreating an authentic retro experience. On its own gameplay merits it isn’t as good of a beat ’em up as other recent revivals or the best classics, but the outlandish and colorful game world and characters make the overall experience more enjoyable and memorable. For Scott Pilgrim fans and beat ’em up fans in general, Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game – Complete Edition is well worth your time.

In just four hours you're all set, but thanks to the multiplayer mode you can easily add several more hours. For less than 15 euros you can't expect an absolute masterpiece, but you get some carefree entertainment that will catapult you back to the 90s.

While the complete edition is a fun blast from the past Scott Pilgrim vs The World The Game it is just that. It's a game from a different time that has some trouble keeping up with the new games in town. The addition of an online co-op is nice though.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game — Complete Edition is a much-needed re-release that faithfully preserves the long lost original. The outdated beat-’em-up combat and light features may not live up to fans’ almost mythological memory, but just being able to find that out is a victory in its own right.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition isn’t going to win any awards. Hell, I doubt anyone remembers it’s out come March. And that’s probably where it should rest. It’s got a banging’ soundtrack, but you can listen to that without having to play it. Are you and three of your friends the biggest Scott Pilgrim fans on the planet? Okay, you got me. This will probably be the greatest thing to happen since Matthew Patel got the stuffing whipped out of him.

Technically clean remaster of the pixel-brawler. Mechanically, on the other hand, time wasn’t kind and left Scott Pilgrim behind most of the competition.

The gameplay is solid, if not as deep as some of its contemporaries or more recent titles like Streets of Rage 4. But, like the movie version of Scott Pilgrim, it’s also incredibly stylish. Fighting enemies is really just an excuse to see the gorgeous pixel art and listen to the amazing soundtrack. Sometimes, after clearing out a wave of enemies, I’ll just sit for a second to soak in the sound and visuals. I’ve been playing on the PS5 via backwards compatibility, and the experience holds up extremely well.

I missed out on the original release of Scott Pilgrim vs, The World : The Game on ps3, 360 and pc.. but i did at least catch the demo to itI missed out on the original release of Scott Pilgrim vs, The World : The Game on ps3, 360 and pc.. but i did at least catch the demo to it back then and thought it was fun.. which made the fact that it was delisted even more annoying.. now that i've had the chance to dive into the PS4 version of the rerelease, I have to say... it's.. decent but flawed. The game has you going through side scrolling stages and is reminiscent of games like Double Dragon or Streets of Rage fight punching and kicking enemies, collecting coins from the defeated foes as well as leveling up with slight RPG mechanics... The pixel art visuals still look quite good in the rerelease, and having it include the dlc is nice as is the low price of $15... but it suffers from things like stiff movement which allows enemies to get hits on you too easily, the effects audio( attack sounds) being somewhat muffled under the music (even with music turned way down, the attack sounds are just too low) and worse, the extreme difficulty.. it's not a game for someone that gets easily frustrated by cheap deaths caused by unblockable attacks, long enemies attack combos, overly strong bosses and no mid stage checkmarks... and the fact that you have to repeatedly die and use the picked up cash to level up your stats, go through lose all your lives again and repeats till you can level up enough to be effective feels cheap and unnecessarily padded.... it's not a terrible game by any means.. but it is harder then it needs to be (even if you cheat to have power of love sword at start of every stage).. so be warned before playing . There are several criticism here about this game (some are correct) so I will try to help you if you should buy this game or not.

First of all, this is a beat'em up, so I assume you're a fan of the genre. Secondly, it's about the Scott Pilgrim Universe so of course you'll enjoy it 1000 times more if you're already a fan.

And lastly, the whole gameplay is based/inspired by NES' River City Ransom (RCR). Everything. You have stat upgrades through shopping and items, heavy "weapon" usage and overwhelming enemy count and behavior. Controllers are also almost the same as RCR (a little frustrating as well). FOR ME its not an issue, I think controlling your character is really nice. If you're struggling and getting your ass handed to you, either level up a little more (you unlock new moves by leveling up) or spend your money on useful food (some only restores HP while others permanently raises your stats).

    That said:
    PROS:
    - REALLY awesome music by Anamanaguchi
    - Graphics
    - 4 player
    - Really nice story and very faithful to the comics if your're a fan
    - Enjoyable even if your're not a SP fan

    CONS:
    - It is, all in all, an unbalanced game. You're very underpowered on the beginning and can be almost a god in the end (it's very satisfiying though)
    - Gameplay wise, you're knocked down a lot and it's very annoying. Everytime you're knocked down it takes 2, 3 seconds to stand up. To be knocked down again. Later in the game you get a move to "cancel" knocking while falling but still annoys me.
    - There is a nasty bug (ps4pro and ps5) game freezing on the end of stage 3. Ubisoft didnt fix this yet. Solution: scale down resolution to 720p on your system settings.
    - Requires a little bit of grinding if you really wanto to get stronger. By grinding I mean spending 60-90minutes replaying some missions to get money to buy upgrades. It's fun if you're playing with friends, though, and you can also lend money to them to balance things.
    - Shopping is slow and trial and error for stat boosting, you dont know what stat will be enhanced unless you buy it first or look on the internet.
    - Some bugs here and there (nothing major except the Stage 3 but mentioned above)

SPVTW:TG is a GREAT game to play alone or with friends, a basket full of easter eggs and a really great soundtrack to listen to while you fight all 7 stages kicking hipster ass. it is a little unbalanced at first so difficulty can oscilate but if you have grown on the 80s-2000 you are probably accostumed to this kind of gameplay so buy it and enjoy.
