Saints Row: The Third Remastered

It’s still a good time rolling through the city in this Remastered take. Even with the performance issues I experienced, which did hamper the experience sometimes, I found myself having a fair amount of fun being the wackiest criminal I could be. In its current state, it’s not the most polished version of the game, despite being better looking than its original version. But the gameplay here is fun enough to forgive that to some degree. If you’re looking for something outside Los Santos and would rather hit people with a dick bat, this isn’t a bad way to spend some time indoors.

Saints Row The Third is probably still the best game in the series, and with this remastered version it gets even better with its upgraded visuals. There's nothing really new or innovative here to see, just lots of shooting and crazy fun.

Saints Row The Third returns with a solid remaster that offers everything you loved from the original game, but with better graphics. You'll find tons of extra content with a lot of missions and crazy challenges.

Not every aspect of Saints Row: The Third Remastered holds up in 2020, but returning to Steelport is still a memorable adventure. Sperasoft has done a respectable job of updating the 2011 title for modern consoles by improving character models and polishing up the look of the city.

Visually outdated when it came out, this remaster of Saints Row : The Third can't manage to bring the graphics to the modern era, and it's still filled with bugs, but if you like that kind of humor, the game is still fun.

Saints Row: The Third was a sacred moment in time where lunatics reimagined the animus of an open-world crime game. It enabled players to thunderously lead a prestigious gang of miscreants and also turn themselves into a toilet. Eight years later Saints Row: The Third Remastered’s glut of Content is more difficult to digest, but its outrageous ambience is still so sweet.

Nearly ten years later, Saints Row: The Third remains an anomaly in the open-world genre as so many continue to embrace seriousness and realism. Saints Row: The Third Remastered arrives at just the right time to inject a dose of silliness and zaniness into the genre.

If you’re going to deliver a remaster of a game that’s only nine years old, it’s got to look better than this – especially if it’s at the end of a console generation and not up to what the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro are capable of. We’re staring down the barrel of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and their games will make this mediocre update age incredibly quickly. Still, the game that lurks underneath has fundamentally held up very well, and will still be a good time for new players even if it won’t live up to the rose-colored glasses view of the returning crew.

Saints Row: The Third is a game with an identity crisis, both within the context of its story and outside of it.

Saints Row: The Third has been beautifully redesigned for modern consoles, but some players may be turned off by some of its outdated comedy.

Even being aware of Saints Row The Third’s issues and having played the game more than enough in the past, I still found myself wanting to keep playing it and really enjoying myself when I did. If you’ve not played Saints Row before I can’t see this one leaving a better impression than the fourth game, but if you’re familiar with the franchise this is still a good, if a messy, time.

Running around Steelport with my Homies again has me more than excited for whatever Saints Row 5 ends up being.

Saints Row The Third Remastered is one of the best parts of the series, however this very superficial remastering does not convince. Certainly vehicles, weapons and 3D models have been retouched, but very slightly. The gameplay remains unchanged and will comfort fans. Nostalgia is present from start to finish. However, the game is clearly not essential, except at a low price, if you have never done it or if you want to play it in cooperation.

The controls are wonky and the mission design is straight outta last-gen, but there's still dumb fun to be had with Saints Row The Third Remastered. Even all these years later, it's a refreshingly stupid sandbox title that offers up some memorable moments -- it's just a shame that they're buried beneath tedious activities and gameplay that feels incredibly basic by today's standards.
