    Overall, Root Film is an engaging visual novel, but as a film buff, it was doubly great experience. For anyone that falls into the Venn diagram between these two types of media, this comes recommended!

    Root Film, like Root Letter before it, is a high quality visual novel with an intriguing mystery at its core. There's not much gameplay here but the writing moves at a good pace with great artwork and strong, likeable characters.

    Root Film does a great job at holding your attention throughout the 15-20 hours you’ll spend with it. The truth behind the film project from ten years ago is an intriguing one to uncover and you’ll discover plenty of dark secrets along the way. Despite being a game with lots of death in it, it also manages to be a love letter to the Shimane region in Japan. The endearing characters you meet will also help keep the game feeling light despite some of its intense subject matter.

It also does not help that they probably hoped for a Last Answer-esque re-release and half assed the final chapter again . Root Film sold very poorly and with no PC release in sight I wonder what the future holds for this series

    The game starts a bit dull, but it gets better. Being an VN the focus is the story and the game delivers a good story. There are some puns,The game starts a bit dull, but it gets better. Being an VN the focus is the story and the game delivers a good story. There are some puns, fun moments, mystery.
    In the gameplay department you have Ace Attorney inspired mechanics: visiting locations, inspecting crime scenes, collecting clues and confronting characters with said clues. It could be better, but makes the pass.

Seriously, check his reviews, and you'll quickly see that he has some of the absolute worst takes I've ever seen in the gaming community. To give you a bit of a snippet, this clown actually gave Witcher 3 a zero, and complained about how it doesn't have a character creator. ???
