    It really brings out the competitive spirit. If you don't get a goal right, it makes you try harder. When you see people getting goals while flying, it makes you want to soar too. If you're tired of the yearly FIFA, this will rejuvenate your soccer interest.

    This game is so much fun. just a simple idea which was hyped up by many twitch streamers. the game is very addictive which doesn't get boring. however i gave this a 9 because it could have more game modes for the future.

    Its impossible to play this game without a constant smile on your face. Easy to pick up and play the first time, but difficult to master. Best PS+ game I've ever got.

    At first glance Rocket League may look like Soccer,Hockey and RC Cars had a Video Game child but once you play even one round you realize how balanced,competive and additively fun the game is. There is also a Season mode witch is closer to a story mode type mode you'd find in FIFA or NHL games, but is great for practicing and getting the hang of this one of a kind game. The addition on Split Screen is also amazing, far to many games now a days are leaving out that option all together and Rocket League gives you the option to play with 4 people on one screen. Rocket League has 2v2s, 3v3s,4v4s and even 1v1s to play around in, 4v4s feel very hectic but are extremely fun, where the 2v2/3v3 feel bit more serious and playable 1v1 is fun for you and a friend but can feel quite slow at times. Anyone with a PS4 with PlayStation Plus NEEDS to download this game seeing it's free for the month of July it's something you will not regret and even if your on PC the $20 price tag isn't to bad for a game this additively fun… Expand

    I just want to say that Meta should remove reviews based off of things like the servers being down. Every negative review of this game sites an issue like that. This game is perfect based on the sum of it's parts. We live in an age where games get released sometimes a little bit earlier than they should be but that's what updates are for. When I log into PSN and it's down for maintenance than I use that as a reason to play my One or my Wii U. If the servers in RL are down then I play an AR challenge in Arkham Knight. These are not things that should inspire a person to log into Metacritic and bash someone's hard work. The devs obviously put a lot of care into the making of this game, but they weren't anticipating it being one of the major hits of 2015. That being said they couldn't have dreamed that the servers would get the traffic that they did. Obviously they could've been "better safe than sorry" and made sure they could handle the traffic but even then it doesn't always work out for everyone. My time with this game so far has been some of the most fun I've ever had in a game. This is the Mario Kart killer right here and I **** love Mario Kart 8.… Expand

    Fun little game that can give you hours and hours of fun with friends or strangers. Wouldn't give it a 10, because that is little bit too much for it. 9 from me.

    I'm going to be honest here and say that I thought this game would be crap, but considering it was free on PS+ I thought that I might as well give it a try and boy am I glad I did. Its just so addictive, after you get the hang of the controls you fall in love with the game. Will definitely buy the sequel if it comes out

    I am a massive fan of the original on PS3 and I was not disappointed by Rocket League in the slightest. Rocket League has moved away from the gimmicky side of SARPBC and is more about the sport side, which is fine by me but I'd like to see some DLC in the future that tips the cap to some of the crazy arenas we saw in SARPBC.     The best PS plus game so far, i really love this game, it may look a bit silly on the face of it but its very competetive and can get very tense. Its free on PS Plus you have no reason to not download it

    Rocket League blends soccer and racing games together, and it plays incredible well.

    Despite the simplicity, there is a high skill cap, and achieving mastery will definitely take a lot of practice. A lot of hilarious moments are to be had as well, such as scoring your own goal, or seeing a pimped out van with cash blowing out of it's exhaust.

    The game is great and really entertaining! You can jump REALLY high with your car, it is so cool! There is no wizards, orcs, elfs or any other anoying things, so you are definatly able to focus on hitting the ball with your car. I could go on for hours. It is actually a little funny that this game make some others overpriced expansion games look like rabbit potatos. It is simple but fun.

    Simplistic visceral fun. Soccer with cars!! There is little depth beyond using angles and timing your jump (to hit the ball) with the bounce of the ball but damn it is the most purely fun game I have played all year. I would equate it to something like Super Smash Bros in that it is easy to pick up and play, there is a lot of room to increase your skill, and it's just incredible fun.

    Anyone can hop in and instantly understand how to play
    there is a season mode with various difficulties to choose from where you try to win the championship from ai controlled opponents and partners.
    If your team isn’t full by time the match starts online, you are also teamed up with ai partners.
    The ai however can occasionally do more harm than good, hitting the ball in the wrong net, and overly just not aggressive enough when it comes to taking shots to be all too helpful
    I understand that this is to prevent ai teams from being over powered, but when youre the one stuck with the ai team, it can be a little frustrating.
    Match making is great though, even if you have a crappy connection, matches are a breeze to get into
    if you find yourself getting your but handed to you, there is a training mode to teach you have to effectively use your boosts and tricks, and how to effectively make shots and block shots as a goalie.
    The game features 11 cars and thousands of combinations to make your rocket car yours
    however I find it highly annoying that you cant customize each car individually.
    your settings carry over to each car, which sucks considering each cars style is different and has its own personality.
    it sucks having to go in and change things every time you want to drive a new car.
    Also good or bad depending how you look on it, all cars handle the same.
    there are no perks to use to your advantage.
    everybody goes into each match steroid free.
    A very even playing field.
    There a few minor annoyances such as ai and a few pretty big annoyances such as party creation not always working and customization not sticking to individual cars.
    but overall Rocket League is a really fun and addictive game to play both online or at home with a friend

    Excellent game. I don't like football games and I don't really like driving games either. The concept of this game seems so incredibly awkward that you think it can't possibly be enjoyable.

    This game will bring you back to the golden ages of gaming. It's simple, fun, and addictive. I definitely recommend that you try this game even if you don't like to try new things. This is a great game overall and Psyonix did an outstanding job!

    Well, the first time I saw the trailer I thought "Mmh. Looks nice, but I'll wait with buying it until I've heard some opinions on it". When I saw it free on PS Plus, I just downloaded it and gave it a shot. I was instantly hooked, in my eyes one of the best games of 2015. Simple gameplay, very decent graphics and... uh, I could go on and on about how good this game is. This game is just awesome!

    The sense of speed causes adrenaline to surge constantly. So challenging and fun. Your car possesses so much power, but the more you use, the harder it is to keep things under control. You are limited never by unlocks or equipment, but only the insanely high skill cap.

    Fun and addictive. Nothing groundbreaking about this game, but there is nothing wrong with it either. It's fun and very competitive, easy to pick up and enjoy, but hard to master, fast-paced but also requires team work.. etc. I don't even like soccer, but soccer with cars? closest thing to a soccer game I'll ever play/watch, and it is well worth the admission fee.

    As soon as I had played the beta for this game I was already in love with it and the full game has so much to offer for anybody who likes driving games and sports games alike. In fact, I would recommend this game to anybody even if they are not a fan of video games as it is a must have for any casual or hardcore gamer.

    First off: The visuals. The graphics in this game are stunning as each blade of grass can be distinguished and the paint on the cars really shines and makes it look realistic whilst still keeping a sort of cartoonish feel. There are a small amount of stadiums but enough variations of sizes and weathers to make each game feel different with gloomy and dull stadiums to huge brightly coloured stadiums which are amazingly appealing to the eyes. The amount of customization the game adds to the vehicles is phenomenal as there are literally thousands of different combinations to add to your vehicle and it always feels rewarding to unlock more hats and antennas to try out to keep your vehicle personalized to your own liking.

    The sound design is done beautifully as you really feel the speed of the vehicles and the sounds made when using boost feels realistic and adds to the sense of speed even if you have chosen a ridiculous rocket trail of which there are many and you may find this game is surprisingly funny in many aspects. The chanting and sounds of the crowd make the stadium feel alive and as if you were participating in a real sports league being chanted by fans right down to the final 10 second countdown where the crowd will chant with the numbers to add to the sense of excitement and tension.

    Finally and most importantly is the gameplay. The game plays exactly how it should with physics that are not too floaty whilst making your car feel like it has weight. The controls work perfectly and even if they are not to your personal liking they are easily changed as they are fully rebindable. Every match is always different whether it is online or offline as the AI feel like real people and the difficulties are programmed perfectly to give you a walk in the park or a real challenge. The servers were a little bit unstable as they were down for the first few days of release but as of this review they are working perfectly and it is easy to find a working server in a matter of seconds. The gameplay is very easy to get the hang of and it only took me a couple of games to be caught in the groove and the more you play the more you will learn what strategies to use and where the best points are to take shots or save them. Goals always feel extremely satisfying especially if the chances seemed low and I found myself shouting "YES" at the screen often as if I was watching a real sporting event which made me all the more excited. After each match you unlock some kind of item and I assume it is random what you are given but I have noticed that the items are usually better if you win which gives you all the more reason to push towards victory.

    Overall this is an utterly fantastic party game that can be enjoyed alone or with friends by anyone, even those who do not play video games often. I feel some people may find this game repetitive after long periods of play but there is never a dull moment when playing Rocket League and if you are going to buy any game this year it should probably be this one.    … Expand

    Best game I've ever played since the next generation. It's very easy to play, but extremely hard to master. Go watch the videos of Kronovi, the best player in the world and you will realize the height of the skill ceiling of this game. It's unbelievable.

    I managed to get a few hours online play over the weekend and then....nothing. I know the developers are aware of the problem but I am not sure they know how to sort this out.     Ok, I'll be the first to admit, I didn't think this game could really be very good. But with so many people streaming it on Twitch, I figured I have to try it (especially since it's free with PS+). Well I was wrong. On the first face-off of my first game I scored a goal and was hooked. This is one of those games that will spread like wildfire because it's pure fun.     Here is a quick description: Halo 'Griffball' meets Fat Princess 'Soccer-mode' meets Twisted Metal meets soccer. This game is mechanically sound and you will not have any fundamental complaints in regards to control, camera, and responsiveness. Very fun with friends. It is free on PS+ currently. Do not miss this game.

    This is an amazingly incredible multiplayer experience that is only heightened when played with friends, although you can get enjoyment from queuing solo or playing against bots in the season mode. If you are on the fence, or just need something to tell your friends to get them to try it too, I have four words for you: Rocket Powered Soccer Car.

    One of the most fun games in a long time. It's very easy to get into it, there's no entry barrier. Just start it up and have fun. At the same time, mastering it is another story. If you just want to have a good time, you won't regret this.

    A host of different single-player and multi-player options should cover everybodys tastes, and this perhaps is the icing on the cake to the gameplay. The concept of football using cars is taken to its most fun and competitive and even if you think that you can't play this, you will, thanks to really well-thought controls and presentation that doesn't confuse the player, rather it assists whilst delivering all the necessary punch.

    The only negative point right now is the online (server issues), but they are improving, and in this weekend just gone I've spent a fair few hours playing this online.

    Rocket League is perhaps a game that is devoid of words to elevate it anymore or debate it: for if you are then you're missing the point. Play it for goodness sake, enjoy it, and see you online!!    … Expand

    The score I give is based on my experience on the game and the ratio of how much I had fun to how much the game annoyed me. This game did not annoy me. This reminds me a lot of Resogun, because of its simple yet deep nature and its focus on gameplay and fun. This is the best multiplayer I played this year(followed by Splatoon). This is a must-play. Is this a perfect game? Of course not, however there never was or will be "a perfect game". But my experience with Rocket League was fun perfected.

    I play a lot of video games. I love good game theory. This game is very tightly crafted. I can't remember having more fun with a game. Bloodborne, Dark Souls, The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Rocket League are in my top 10 list... strange bedfellows indeed.

    This game is purely fun and skill based with a simplistic control scheme and gameplay that will drive you to the edge of your seat with each attempt at nailing that perfect shot.     You can play offline 2 vs 2 split screen or even 4 vs 4 online (with 3 of your friends sharing the same tv as you). Simply put, any combination works for this game. and that's a really cool feature especially considering how many devs are leaving the Split screen options behind in favor of pure online experiences.

    Rocket League is a must have for all the competition lovers out there! It's great fun and even more: local multiplayer! So many new games don't have this feature anymore, with Rocket League it's a blast to play with up to 3 friends.

    Everything is so perfectly executed. Rocket League is extremely addictive and an extraordinary sequel to the good old ps3 classic SSARPBC. It's fast paced and every match is incredibly intense. The controls are smooth and it just feels awesome navigating the stadiums with your car.

    Such a simple concept. Fun. Rocket League grips you from the very first moment and it doesn't let go. Where has the day gone? Not even the best triple A titles can do this for me these days. This game reminds me of the throwback to 90's games like ReVolt.

The Sweet Tooth cameo is awesome, I truly hope for more cameos for DLC. The controls are a bit complex and sometimes clunky.     Rocket League is fun, addictive, and easy to pick up and play. I have played offline so I am not effected by the launch week server issues. If you do not have this game, just buy it.

    Absolutely in love with this game. The learning curve is fairly steep when it comes to actually playing well, but the game is a blast. Next to Outlast, this has been the best game to release so far for Playstation Plus. Having a lot of fun with my friends online when it is working and I cannot wait to play it more.

The Arena's are all similar in shape to the most popular pitch in SARPBC (Urban) but they do vary in weather conditions and have both day & night play. I have heard they are developing additional Arena's of different shapes which is cool.

    The matchmaking system wants to match you to similar skilled players, whereas in the original you could be matched against the best players and get spanked :( or against noobs and spank them = boring.
    So now with similar skilled players there is always the competitive edge that makes you want to do better and have "JUST ONE MORE GAME !!!!"

    There were several different cars in SARPBC with only 4 different paint jobs for each car. Now there are a staggering amount of customisations available from different wheel trims to HATS and even more cars to choose from !!!! So you can have the coolest looking car on the pitch.

    Offline mode previously allowed you some skills training to learn the ropes and this is much the same now with Rocket League. However now you can try your skills against the bots in either Exhibition maps or Season Mode. Having completed 2 seasons (9 weeks & 18 weeks) it is very compelling and challenging. Yes the Bots make silly mistakes but in my experience playing SARPBC so do a lot of players. With the overwhelming success of Rocket League I feel confident that Pysonix will be improving Bot skills making it even more challenging.

    Overall I'm very impressed with Rocket League. In SARPBC it took me a couple of games to grips with the basics, several hours to get to a decent level and having played at least 10 hours a week for 5 years of SARPBC I was still learning how to score that FreeStyle Aerial Goal!!!

    One of the greatest most addicting games I've played in a long time. I'm able to jump into a game in a matter of seconds. I can play with my friend next to me split screen. My only complaint is not being able to pair up with my friend on PC but *fingers crossed* this will be patched. The Devs have been on point and active. I can't really complain though as the game runs like a dream, has a small file size, gorgeous visuals, and plenty to unlock.. AND IT WAS FREE. So refreshing in today's gaming world. I would have happily paid $50 for the fun I'm having, and will continue to support the developer.

    My biggest hope is that this game really takes off and gets support so we can get a true AAA title that everyone is excited for. The games is great in its simplicity but also has so much room to grow and develop that I'm excited for the day when Rocket League tournaments are widely publicized.

    This game is rad. Its beauty is in its simplicity. It's basic enough to be accessible to a beginner, but the physics allow for some pretty spectacular plays by the more experienced. The gameplay is just so much fun.

    Rocket League in its simplest form is soccer with cars. It’s the way that it’s done that makes this game truly special. It’s an addicting combination of simplicity and competition. The player drops into a game size of 1vs1 to up to 4vs4 in one of 11 fully customizable vehicles. An oversized ball is placed in the middle and hell breaks loose as rocket powered cars try to send it in the goal using their bodies as paddles.
    Rocket League consists of ranked and unranked online playlists, an offline exhibition mode capable of split screen and bots, as well as a season mode similar to what you’d find in a Madden game. There are currently 4 main stages with 3 weather variants making a total of 7 cosmetically different stages. New stages will most likely be added in the future and Psyonix has stated that they’ll be free. Vehicle customization is also pleasantly deep. Changes can be made to paint, decals, wheels, and even rocket trails. Progression isn’t plagued by complicated challenges; instead the player is rewarded with items for just playing the game.
    Rocket League maintains a next-gen appearance with awesome lighting and a cool art style. Everything looks awesome running in 60fps on both PC and PS4. The only framerate drop I encountered was at the start of a match when vehicles were still loading. Despite some day 1 server issues, Rocket League seems very polished. This may partly be due to 2 very successful betas the developer decided to do.
    The gameplay is where this game truly shines. There is a lot of satisfaction in knocking around a ball with rocket boosted cars. Controls are on point and everything feels very responsive. Psyonix has previously developed the game Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars, so the gameplay is something we’ve seen before. However, as far as the current generation of consoles, Rocket League stands alone as a competitive mini sports game.
    I find myself starting up Rocket League on my Playstation 4 all the time, with how easy it is to drop in and have fun. I did find that searching for an online match sometimes took upwards of 2 minutes. This is something I expect to get better with patches and as time goes on, but it does get tedious when you are looking to jump right in. They do allow you to use the menu and your garage while searching for a match though which is a nice touch.
    Another unexpected area of excellence in Rocket League is the soundtrack. The game features an electronic soundtrack by artists Mike Ault and Hollywood Principle that fits perfect.
    Rocket League is a great new platform for competitive gaming and offers a ton of fun per dollar. It’s worth its $20 price tag, and if you’re a current subscriber of PlayStation Plus it’s a no brainer being the free game of July.    … Expand

    Easily one of my favourite games as of right now. From the crisp bright colours to the clean tight controls, everything about this game feels polished (except for their servers right now hehe). wonderful game overall!

    You can tell the developers actually care. Not only is it a great game but its free on PSN+! I can't wait for them to release some kind of DLC so I can actually support them.

    This game is a 10/10 on all fronts except online. They had an Alpha and a Beta and still couldn't get the launch right. Online play is on of the best parts of the game, and it doesn't work. Until then, the game gets the 5/10 it deserves.

    This game is very interesting because it's very fun and very simple. You get teams and you shoot a ball in a goal with cars. The only potential downside is that there is a very big component of the gameplay (aiming the ball) which relies mainly on luck, so the game could become boring, but I guess we will see in the coming months.

And yes as of right now servers are having issue (only because the game is so awesome) but if there is one game studio I would trust to rectify the situation quickly its Psyonix. I mean Halo 2 sold 2.4 Million units in 24 hours. This game shipped 1.2 Million in 48. Halo made the news with those sales #’s, this game was done by a small indie company not funded by M$.
    But since it’s the gamplay that set it apart I will just copy and paste my review of SARPBC as I feel that is the best explanation as to why this game is great.
    “I know this is going to sound like an exaggeration buy I am completely serious. I have played video games nearly all my life, I even worked in a game store in high school. What I am getting at is I know my games. And this is, in my option, the best sports video game of all time. I would also consider it the best split-screen multiplayer game for 4 people currently available. Be warned the learning curve on this game is very-very high so it is best to start playing the game with a group of people near the same skill level. Why is this game one of my favorite games of all time? Well there are a lot of reasons. For one it is the perfect mix of strategy and execution. The game is very complex, well actually the game is very simple, but the possible approaches to the game are infinite. I used to play alot of shooters (mostly halo), it was really fun but after awhile my strategy for almost any given situation became static. However in this game, while a few strategy do remain constant, so many (after four years of play) are dynamic. You really have to improvise on situations in this game, the result is that the game always seems fresh. Again same can be said with execution in this game. I have been playing for years and there is always more for me to learn, and it continually feels like i am moving towards being a better player. ( If you want an example of how good people can be at this game just go to youtube, some of the people that play this game are unbelievably good ). Again i will use shooters as a counter example, where execution performance converges on an asymptote at a quicker rate. (I'm not trying to bash shooter i like them alot, but almost all the execution is based on reaction time and muscle memory) Scoring goals in this game requires an almost indefinable finesse that leads you to feel a real sense accomplishment. Anyway I am just rambling now. My main point, buy this game.

    Oh and also Psyonix, the company that makes this game, is really cool. In an age where DLC cost usually as much as most games itself, Psyonix has released two patches (doubling the original amount, of maps and car skins / fixing glitches ext,) for free.     The graphics are very good, better than expected to run at solid 60 fps on ps4 and on my GTX 750 ti, they don't move a single fps down

    The multiplayer experience is great, and being able to play up to four players on the same machine is simply amazing.

    All I can say is that this game is a must buy, listed at 19,99$/19,99€ but worth more than most AAAs.

    Finally, I'd like to mention that the dev team makes us (the playerbase) feel like they're really caring about us, they've been commenting everything they've been doing to solve the server problems on the launch, worked 24 hours straight to solve them, further more, they've been answering pretty much every question about anything on the game, if I'm writing this review today, is because they've delivered a product of the finest quality at the lowest price and on the best conditions. The only thing I need to keep playing this for years is that they don't change.

    Probably the most fun you'll have playing your PS4. Such a simple idea(cars+soccer), executed perfectly. There's also a ton of customization goodies for your vehicle and everybody looks truly unique.

    The addiction is real, be careful.

    The best game I've played in a long time. Offline seasons with bots and online exhibitions with friends are both entertaining. The only negative is that I can't stop playing!

    This have to be the most complete multiplayer of this generation.

    From the start of the Beta, Rocket League have showed great momentum in becoming one of the best multiplayer experiences on the PS4.

    It is fun to play with friends and with randoms and it delivers some of the most intense moments I have ever experienced in gaming.

I downloaded last night and planned on playing one game before I went to bed (it was already late) 18 matches later and I can officially say I am hooked! Great game. Great Visuals. Great Sound. Lots of customization options. OVERALL AMAZING GAME!!

    You are driving a small car and you have to get the ball into the opponents goal. This is done by driving into it. This can be done on the ground or in the air by jumping and using your boost effectively. The game is very simple (hit the ball into the other team's goal, there are no other rules) and the controls are easy to learn. The driving feels good. It's easy to get started but there's plenty of room to improve your skills, you can do some crazy stuff if you're good enough.     This game blew me away, been gaming since 25 years and this game just brings me way back to what games used to be, simple to learn but hard to master. With a modern touch, nice graphics, fast matchmaking and tons of customizations. It is truly addictive. I highly recommend it even if you don't like cars or football you will like this game :)

    Rocket League is everything I dreamed the sequel would become. The skill ceiling on this game is enormous. Everyday you will get better and yet there is always something to improve upon. The Icing on the delicious cake is that Psyonix plans to release future maps as free DLC. Much love to them and I'm so glad for their success!

I would recommend this game for anybody, but in my opinion it is to expensive without plus or for PC.     Rocket League is the funnest game I have played in a long time, possibly all time. Online is really were this game excels. However, there are still plenty of offline modes. I would highly recommend this game.

    I have not so much fun with a multiplayer game since Modern Warfare 2. The feel of the cars is really good and intuitive. Setting up an attack and scoring is really satisfying. Servers are a bit of a mess atm, but once that is fixed this is the best multiplayer game on the PS4 right now.

    I honestly haven't had this much fun on a game in years! I spent over 4 hours last night playing private matches with 5 other friends and we were all having a great time. If you play with friends, expect to hear the term "one more game?" said a lot!!!

    Excelente juego, recomendado para toda la gente que le gusta el fútbol, la velocidad, y la adrenalina. Incluso si no te gustan esas cosas, PODRÍA gustarte el juego. Hasta mi familia se quedó viendo mis partidas en Rocket League ajaj.

    It's a blast to play and it only gets better as skills improve over time and as the competition ramps up. It's a game that everyone, whether they’re big into sports video games or just can’t seem to get into them, will really enjoy.

    I have no problem saying that this is the best and most original sports game I have played since at least FIFA 12. It mixes all the best elements of sports and online multiplayer games into one in an affordable and seamless experience that looks awesome in YouTube videos as well.
