I could have gotten it at $60 and still would have been just as happy. It gets a 9 instead of a 10 because of some very minor visual bugs, but they are so rare, and the game overall looks absolutely stunning. Expand

Since the last Tomb Raider I am again a big fan of the franchise. Square Enix again delivered a great title, bravo. I had a lot of fun throughout the play-through. In terms of fun factor, better than Uncharted 4, overall probably just slightly above the last Nathan Drake adventure, or maybe it's a draw. Great game.

It's a great game. It has one of the most enjoyable game-play nowadays and also really good controls.
Above the average AAA games in terms of graphics.
Impressive facial animations. But it seriously needs some boost on the storytelling aspect. I can say it's pretty poor. Story is not that original, but it's not bad either. 8.5 is the perfect score. But I'm giving that 0.5 half point

The rejuvenated Tomb Raider game, first in this trilogy, was a god-send for me as someone who always loved the series but was over the direction it was going. Rise goes one step further and fixes almost all of the flaws of its predecessor and in fact, for me, directly challenges Uncharted for the best game of its kind.

Gameplay is refined, focused and above all ridiculously fun. Traversing the predominantly snowy and ice rugged Siberian landscape is exhilarating, with all the immersion-breaking active time events removed. There's a huge focus on actual tomb raiding for the first time in years with some really challenging puzzles and loads of artifacts to collect, ancient languages to learn and items to unlock. Combat is intuitive and flows well. The difficulty is spot-on. Crafting is kind of silly but ultimately really enjoyable. Making bombs, poison, smoke grenades etc on the fly is great and really becomes essential in later encounters. Lara feels like an absolute machine by the end of the game, which is a blast to play through. RPG elements like clothing choice, skill upgrades and weapon mods are interesting enough but I honestly didn't see a huge different in shotgun varieties for example, so don't know how relevant their stat differences truly were. Her arsenal is amazing though and that's enough for me!

Graphics are stunning in this game, particularly Lara and the environmental effects. Dark caves spring to life via Lara's torch, dusty ruins are impressive in scale and atmosphere and the weather/lighting/explosion/other fun stuff effects are pretty incredible. The DLC adds a huge deal to the story and wold, one by exploring a trippy witch cave and the other, Croft Manor.

My major issue is with the story/other characters. The story is so standard and dull, and never felt truly gripping and the side characters are almost exclusively 2-dimensional. Thankfully, there has never been as much effort put into Lara's characterisation and watching her evolve into a ruthless, almost obsessive killer is fascinating. The situations and people she encounter are slowly morphing her into the competent, sassy and cold character we got to know in the 90s and I cannot wait to see the conclusion in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Considering Uncharted pretty much stole TR's crown in the 2010s, I firmly believe Lara has wrestled it back from Nathan. What Uncharted holds above TR in terms of narrative and maybe graphical performance, Rise undoubtedly makes up for by being a better game to play. There's more variety, truly engaging combat/exploration and a much more open, involved experience in general. I'm absolutely delighted with the current state of this series!

A fantastic sequel that is on par with the first! The story is better, as is the tone, which blends adventure and grit perfectly. There are some aspects of the gameplay that I preferred in the first game, but it balances out overall, making this on par with its predecessor. Can't wait to play as Lara Croft once more!

Mejora la fórmula del primero, sigue en su misma tónica pero nos encontramos ante una historia más frenética y nos adentramos mejor en el personaje de Lara, sin lugar a dudas la secuela superó al primero.

A great action adventure game. Spectacular graphics (on PS4 Pro) and terrific gameplay. It is also quite long if you play casually so you wont finish it in 2 sittings. Amazing pace and also there is kind of an open world to explore at our own pace apart from the main campaign (which is great).

Well, a game with adventure, excitement and the thrill of enjoyment, is what this game should be, and for the most part is. There isn't too many bad points, so I'll go over them first.

Well, a game with adventure, excitement and the thrill of enjoyment, is what this game should be, and for the most part is. There isn't too many bad points, so I'll go over them first.

Lara, now the character is fine, fits well with the game, the story, even the characters ,but at points, she feels so selfish, like oh that was my fault, this has happened because of me, oh I'm sorry I did this, it's those little phrases and speech, that really make me want to skip cut scenes, but it's Lara Croft so I didn't.

The second and last bad point, is the story, though good, as I'll explain later, is at times forced, often feeling rushed, and is a shame because on a whole it flows well with the environments, but can be lackluster at times.

Now the good points, game play well done, now I wasn't expecting Uncharted styled game play, or cryptic puzzles to solve, but what we got was a pact, and well executed function of game play, the various weapons and tools to help during exploration and climbing obstacles was a nice, and the feel of open world was pretty cool too.

Combat, loved it, fluid, clean and made gun fights, and melee feel heart pounding. The range of weapons to fight with was ace, and the ability for stealth was a plus, overall very good when it came to combat.

Story, raiding a tomb, seems the norm, and execution of this said norm was very well done, it's a shame no, quote on quote sexy scenes were present despite the 18 rating, but hey it was good without them none the less, overall gripping and enticing at every corner.

Lastly the characters, now there is Lara, but she was fine, in more ways than one, but the other characters were pleasing, respectable and didn't give me the urge to ignore them, each one having an impact on what happened, even down to the generic enemies, each one had purpose and didn'r feel like placeholders.

On a final note, the game was amazing, the visuals is what I would expect, and for the most part a very tidy game, challenges were difficult at times but never too hard you gave up, and the story and characters seemed polished and purposeful, must say well done, well done indeed.

I ve been playing this title on a PS4 Pro with SSD and encounter only slight frame drops during 2 or 3 small cut scenes, beyond that the game ran flawless. Loading times are okay. The fast travel good be faster but it is still acceptable in my opinion. Graphic wise the title delivers stunning visuals and very good effects after all.

The world in Rise of the Tomb Raider is based on a semi open world setup which opens up during the main course of the story but lets the player wander off if he likes too. The controls are pretty much polished and enhanced from the 2013 gameplay. The skill trees, weapon sets and movement is extra ordinarily good and gives room to each personal playstyle. The puzzles are way more enhanced then 2013th establishment and enriches this game quite a lot.

Difficulty wise there is enough room for casual play, regular play and also hardcore veterans, although I found that the regular mode was performing solid might be too easy for more advanced players though. For people that like action adventures such as Uncharted I can only encourage to buy this title. It is from time to time on sale and pretty much a steal for 10 bucks or less. Regular story will take around 10 to 15hrs whereas main play plus or completionist will take you to around 20hrs of gameplay.

Just WOW! This game is absolutely beautiful. And I love how the developers enhanced the game for PS4 Pro console.

But I put a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 because of some technical issues in the game, and when you choose the "high frame-rate" mode on PS4 Pro, the frame-rate is very unstable and it goes from 40 to 50 fps. It should be fixed but I guess it's too late now. Anyway, I loved

Anyway, I loved this game. All of it. To not mention the new difficulty, "Extreme survivor", which is very difficult and makes you really anxious because the game only saves at base camps, and some of them are also unlit.

I also appreciated very much the new classic skins, especially the Angel of Darkness one. Unfortunately, the TR2 and TR5 skins have a braid that flies in the air also when there isn't wind, which is very strange. Must be some problem in the braid physics.

Talking about hair physics: I love the new technology that Crystal Dynamics put on Lara's hairs. The only issue I have with them is that Lara's hairs in the front are very puffy and, sometimes, there are some problems in the animation where Lara touches her hairs after being in the water. Sometimes che puts her hands in her head. I think that animation should be deleted in the next TR game because It's a bit useless and It's full of glitches.

Anyway, Crystal Dynamics did an awesome job with this game. Congratulations!

There are bugs, both minor and funny, and those that start to infuriate you, because of which you feel constrained in the gameplay and the developers' imaginations (although sometimes the game was surprising in a good way), but they are not so critical.
Sometimes the game picked up too fast a pace, sometimes on the contrary it stretched the grind, it is, of course, not necessary, but I don’t want to leave uncompleted places on the map, although at the moment I didn’t go through the game 100%, I’m too tired of walking through the tombs, and look for documents in large locations. Speaking of documents and relics: it is really interesting to study, interesting stories that reveal the plot or simply complement the picture of the whole game history, as if you were attending a history lesson.
There are claims to the game: since I played the game for the first time in the series, I played on the difficulty "Experienced robber", and the game did not show me difficult, the problem is most likely in saving almost at every step, as well as too strong a weapon that can pump almost at the beginning, which makes it unbalanced (despite the fact that the game is not very long). It is clear that the developer apparently did not want to annoy the players by passing the same places a million times due to the fact that they were killed by the enemy, but still there is difficulty, there is shooting, there is death - and this death is not particularly frightening, because you you will be reborn literally in a couple of meters. Some perks are completely useless, some are not really balanced, some can help once, even if you are playing without saving. Gaining experience due to the fact that the game is short, fast enough, and because of this, you simply pump over the perks you do not need, without even reading them. Sometimes the game lacked a variety of locations, often it's just mountains, mountains and more mountains. In some places, the game turned frankly into a shooter, yes, it's cool to shoot, but when you want it, and not according to the script.
Just a few more words about AI: it's good, the enemies are not blind morons, but at the same time they cannot see you 50 km away. There were moments in the game that were confusing and a little annoying, where you understood that you could have done better, but in general the game is really amazing, I also played it for free, in general, super.

Gameplay 8,5: How you move around is great, unlike the originals you generally have no problems moving around, no irritations on going where you didn't want to go etc. except jumping to the climbing arrows. However on higher difficulty level: enemies know exactly where you are at almost any point in time, making stealth around almost impossible. Also I like the more cinematic approach with the camera rather then the static from behind of the originals.
Graphics 9,5: great environment, breathtaking architecture, many times at aw, especially the tracks in the snow and the bright light effect at the end of tunnels/caves.
Story 9: although subjective; I'm a huge fan of Indiana Jones the Last Crusade and it's story. This is quite similar; be it in a more snowy environment. Jonah from the prequel makes a rentree which I liked. Lara seems to have character development since her last venture and generally is less scared/fearful of what happens around her. Also the twists and turns of secondary characters are original (mainly Anna and Jacob). That same goes for bringing back the Croft Manor from the original and make that into it's own story, separate from the main storyline, I really loved that! The way they do puzzles here is extremely original, having to combine clues and really study them instead of the usual jumping pulling levers puzzles.
Conclusion: 9 Although there are a few things I didn't mention before, the game isn't without a few bugs here and there. Being a kid from the 90's it doesn't really bother me as long as it's kept to a minimum, as it does. Definitely recommend the game to anyone who considers it!

Lara's father was a very intelligent man and loved making new discoveries, just like his daughter. Mr. Croft always craved an artifact, in particular, The Divine Source. The Divine Source was known to grand whoever wields it eternal life. Mr. Croft announced that he believed it was real and he will find it. Unfortunately, after many years with no success, people called him a liar. Mr. Croft then killed himself in defeat. Lara sets out on a journey to find the Divine and bring honor back to her, and her father's, name. Although, Lara was not the only one searching for the Divine Source. Trinity is a group of heavily armed people that intend on taking the Source and using it for themselves and will take down anyone in their way. The story is engaging and filled with impossible to predict twists to keep you at the edge of your seat. I give the story an 8.75/10. I only take some points off because it takes a lot from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. That is definitely not anything bad, but it's just not as original as I would have hoped. Thankfully, where it lacks in the story it makes up in the gameplay. This game relies heavily on stealth. If you are not quiet you will die very quickly. With Lara's large variety of abilities that should not happen often. Lara can throw items to distract enemies, climb across ropes to move without being seen, and swing from tree branches to get the high ground. Her most important ability I saved for last while standing still all enemies in her view is marked red or yellow. If they are red that means that another enemy/enemies can see them. If they are marked yellow nobody is looking at them. So if you kill someone that is yellow no one will know until they find the body. If you kill someone that is red they will see and immediately be on high alert. This ability goes very well with your silent bow and arrow for a clean kill. If you do get caught you have many abilities to use in combat as well. You can turn bottles into molotovs and cans into bombs. You also have many different types of arrows and guns that I will not spoil. You unlock all of these abilities as you play. Thankfully the enemies you face do not get stale because there is a large variety of them. With each one, you must know how to approach them. By the end of the game, you would have mastered all of your and their attacks and you will feel invincible. Unfortunately, the end of the game is my least favorite part of the game. There is a final boss that is so unsatisfying to fight against. I ended up trying to cheese them because I was so bored, but that didn't even work. This boss does not test any of the skills you have learned it is so underwhelming. Otherwise, I would have given it a 10/10, instead, I give the gameplay a 9.5/10. If I could have made any changes to the gameplay, without changing the story, it would be to have an ability to through enemy grenades back at them. Also to make a better boss, I don't know how to do that but this boss was not fun. Besides that, it is a wonderful game, and I give it an overall score of 9.125/10 (9/10). If it wasn't for the boss this might be one of my favorite games, but nothing beats Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

The game has enough cut-scenes to tell the story, and the transition between cut-scenes to game play is smooth and keeps the player immersed. There are also plenty of skills and equipment, including skins for various attires that are readily available and a few can be unlocked from game play. Controls are responsive but take a bit of time to get used to. AI in the game is pretty good and challenging, enemies coordinate to flank, throw grenades or rush to melee. Exploration and puzzles provide a nice change of pace from the intense fire fights, puzzles are challenging enough that you don't need to look at a guide.

Downside, the micro-transactions for "virtual card collectibles" that thankfully do not impact the game play. Console game publishers and devs need to stop and leave the micro-transactions for the "pay-to-play" mobile games and MMOs.

Overall, playing Rise of the Tomb Raider is a fun and immersive experience. Its like watching a movie and playing a game at the same time. The game is worth playing and at current sale prices (bought mine $15 brand new), its a must have game for the PS4.

Other negatives for me are the way game "holds your hand" when trying to work out where to go , or what to find. with one press of a button it will "light up" the way for you, and things you need to gather "glow" so you dont miss them. These options can be turned off of course, but its too easy to use the option when you get stuck., and i miss that part of Tomb Raider, hence the lower score. But this is a great game. Go get it.

This is a tomb raider game: you jump, you shoot, you solve puzzles.
It tries to recaputre the "magic" of the 90s installments, trying to be modernized for current audiences.
The pacing is good, alternating set pieces and more explorative sessions.
The story is predictable, but serves the purpose of the gameplay.
The replay value is high, as you might try to beat the game again with higher difficulty(which changes how the game can be saved or restricts how you can improve the skill tree).
I recommend it, hope that the third installment will keep the charm intact.

This game is nowhere near comparable to Uncharted, obviously. It's more in-line with the quality of other above-average games like Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, or Mirror's Edge.

Much better than Tomb Raider (2013). This game doesn't feel like a substandard copy of Uncharted. It is of decent length, and the cinematic action-adventure elements are much improved. I also liked how this was mixed with survival in the wild elements; how lara can craft bombs with empty cans and collect mushrooms to make poison arrows. The stealth elements were also much improved.

The optional tombs are still very small in this game, usually providing only one puzzle before the reward. Still would prefer something closer to mini dungeons but these are better than the tombs in the first since they tend to look cooler and the puzzles you have to do feel a bit more inspired.

Combat functions and feels virtually the same as the first, which isn't a bad thing but it's a generic third person shooter with regenerating health. It's still fun but doesn't provide much challenge, I was able to scrap my way through every fight without having to think and only died once because someone punched me off a ledge.

This game doesn't saturate you with action though, so it never gets too repetitive as long as you're exploring the world and trying to find everything. I got 100% and probably only about a quarter of my time was spent in combat situations.

All in all I had a great time with this one, giving it a full score higher than the first for the further improvements to level design.

However, RIse of the Tomb Raider expands the gameplay formula in a beautiful way, adopting mechanics, and systems, of semi open world titles whilst blending them in with the mechanics of its predecessor.

The graphics are fantastic, as you progress the enviroments become incresingly diverse, and the cast of characters is entertaining as it is enjoyable to both listen and watch as the narrative unfolds.

The real highlight of the game for me tho, comes in the form of collectibles, upgrades, puzzles, and tombs that you'll find in increasing amounts through each area of the game, this accompanied with the added dlc, as well as chapter replay elite, and expeditions mode, serve to further increase the replayability and engagement of this title.

The combat system in conjunction with the platforming mechanics and the stealth systems, all contribute to an engaging and at times, surprisingly challenging experience.

If there are any complaints that I have with this game is that at times it can be an overwhelming experience marrowed by a complex ui and multiple goals to complete.

It tends to feel "bloated" after a while, and as such during my first playthrough I felt somewhat "rushed" by some of this systems, feeling like I could only focused on the clearly explained, and marked goals.

However, despite those issues, Rise of the Tomb Raider did ended up becoming a pleseant game to experience through and through, and I would recommend this 20th anniversay version that includes all of its dlc as well as added modes.

Tomb Raider 2013 is one of my most favorite games ever.. Needless to say I was excited to play the sequel..
Unfortunately, they dropped the gritty tone of the original to chase uncharted….
Lara sets out to uncover a mystery her father was mocked for..
This game starts out in the Serbian mountains and the majority of the game keeps you in the snow covered mountains…
And of course there are bad guys after the same artifact you are..
    So youre not alone…
The tomb raider reboot introduced a crafting system which has been brought back, but this time feels much more in the background..
You can gather items and hunt animals for materials to craft bandages and upgrade your weapons…
But none of this is forced…
And much like the past game you upgrade your weapons at a campfire, which also acts as a fast travel point and a place for you to spend your skill points as you level up…
Rise of the tomb raider feels much more linear this time around..
The world doesn’t really feel as connected as the original…
Its for the most part a linear path that you traverse with climbing aces and ropes..
The game feels much more like assassins creed this time around because of this…
It gives uncharted 4 a run for its money with how much climbing you actually do here…
As well as the series as a whole during the few epic chase sequences qhich are easily some of my favorite moments in the entire game…
When you aren’t climbing there are a few openish sections you can explore but the mistake the original made is back as well with secrets being locked off until you progress further in the story to unlock the needed tool and come back...
This is a cheap tactic to prolong gameplay hours…
but more so its frustrating and ironically discourages exploration…
Why look around when 1 in 2 areas is going to tell me to come back later?
I might as well just ignore everything and run forward..
This is what I ended up doing..
Fortunately rise of the tomb raider is gorgeous, and traversing the parquor sections and solving environmental puzzles old fans will be happy to see returned outside of just being secrets is a great deal of fun…
And the 3rd person shooter combat feels decently nice, its not uncharted good, but its passable.. you have the option to stealth or shoot your way through most sections… you can also dodge attacks and counter….
The puzzle pieces are all here for this to be a masterpiece of a game…
except theyre missing the center piece… the one thing that makes all of this come together and work for uncharted in such a beautiful way…
    And that’s character…
Theres not a single well written character in this entire game…
    This includes lara…
The original this wasn’t so.. the game felt so real and you felt so vulnerable.. not only having to survive enemies but the environment.. I cared the entire way.. here however youre just a girl Nathan drake with 0 personality…
Which ultimately makes this feel like just a generic third person shooter experience…
There was no reason to stray away from the unique gritty adventure they had going on with tomb raider 2013, but they did and the feel of the game suffered for it
And Im not sure if this story was game of thrones inspired, but it felt pretty copy and paste making every turn so predictable, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if again the characters had character, but they didn’t.. I wasn’t invested in the story at all…
The PS4 20 year celebration version also comes with all of the dlc…
Endurance which can be played either single or co op where youre tasked with surviving by eating food and gathering resources.. Very fun idea, but the challenges for the trophies wont unlock unless they are an active challenge, which if youre trophy hunting kills all reason to continue if there are no more trophy related challenges to do…
cold darkness which is a stealth zombie dlc where you have to infiltrate a research base for a chemical weapon
as well as Baba Yaga and Blood ties which ill be reviewing on their own as they are each about an hour long expansion with their own stories..
While I do wish the characters were better written in Rise of The Tomb Raider, I still feel is a quality experience, well worth your money if youre a fan of action adventure…
I Give Rise of The Tomb Raider..
    an 8/10

As much as I hate to admit it Rise of the Tomb Raider is really f@#king good. I wouldn't classify it as open world but it's close enough. Like the reboot ROTR gives you the ability to fast travel to any section of the game and do side missions or challenges, as well as Tombs you tried earlier but didn't have the right gear. The tombs are insanely good. I'm not much of a puzzle fan because I am really bad at them but ROTR does it just right. It doesn't hold your hand but there are subtle hints if the game senses you in one Tomb too long. The most underrated part of this game I think is the story. I really liked it and as much as I love the Uncharted series, I think ROTR's story is right up their with the best. Controls are super fluid, and is nowhere near as annoying as the reboot's control scheme was. Level design is done really well giving you the chance to find all secrets and tombs before moving on to the next section. If you were like me and decided a while ago that you would vote with your wallet and not buy this game kudos to you for following through. I couldn't, and ultimately I am glad I didn't because this game I think will be considered a classic in the future. Expand

    - The story is quite bland, there is a lack of characters, being the most important and interesting Lara and The Profet. Practically all characters doesn't have a good huge development or evolution.
Lara is quite plain alongside the story, with an important lack of emotion but her father's will. Like the first game, it feels kinda artificial and poorly design.

Other characters like Jonah or even the main villain itself have a minor importance and they developmente in the story are simple or even unexistent, with a huge lack of real involvement.

Also the plot is practically a copy from the first game, the final fases even fun and good designed, are quite too much similar in many ways to the first, with romans instead of "samurai".

    - Gameplay is simple, find coverage and shot the enemies, there are4 types of weapons with differt variations: bow, primary (rifle, sniper, subrifle), secondary (shotgun), and handgun. Olso the piolet but only for melee.
The problem here is the enemy IA (quite dumb), the design of the stages (normaly small with lots of coverage and pickup objects) and enemies (too armored enemies breaks the flow), crafting (pickup objects are excesive and quite OP) and sometimes camera. Also melee combat is like the first, evade and kill, quite easy, and the healing system can be improved.

The map size is good, but it is not a open world, there is backtracking to collect resources, but again there is no real reward unless you aim to the 100% completion.

Optional cripts are quite similar to the first, except 2 or 3, the rest are simple and a bit dissapointing, i expected more. Also the rewards arent quite useful.

    - The World as I said is good sized and good looking, but there is a lack of impresive environments and cutscenes oftenly interrupts the pace of the game, there are too many when you run and everything goes down, it needs improvement.

    - Extra content (Baba Yaga, Endurance, etc): fun but not really a huge value, Baba Yaha is fun and really rocks, but again the plot is predictable.
Endurance is a survival mode, interesting but it falls in repetition.

    - Overall: good game, fun game but with a lot of issues, Animations, combat system, story, characters, side-missions, environments.
I didn't find myself stuned with a view, like I did with other games. The game tries hard to make it but doesn't deliver, unless not at today's high end quality games.

I find in the saga a lack of identity, that tries to find itself in a genre and with a legendary character that do not reaches the glory of it's past days.
I'm really looking forward to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I want to see improvement and know if finally that game reaches the top. A similar game only will lead to dissapointment.

Pretty decent game. Definitely inspires from Uncharted which isn't a bad thing at all and this is what the new reboot needed. I really enjoyed the gameplay when it came to puzzles and climbing. However gunplay and encounters felt stiff and level design wasn't good for encounters. The story is fine nothing too interesting and characters are ok too.

The game has so much quality content, new game mechanics, more grounded and less tedious puzzle solving. The skills improvement makes a welcomed comeback with more upgrades, helping to adjust the game to your style, whether it's a stealth or full gun blazing approach. All the weapons have surprisingly deep upgrade system, often those upgrades have a visual impact and sometime audio impact on the weapons.

Exploring caves in side missions got so much larger and more varied than in the previous title. Plenty of the locations are gorgeous to watch and even more exciting to explore.

The only cons I can think of is the ending. I won't be spoiling anything, but for me the last 1-2 hours is too jammed with action and unnecessarily long puzzles. It felt like they tried to be more like Uncharted... which they don't need, they're doing so much better on their own. And that clickbait for the next game... There was no need.

But ignore my nitpicking. This is a great game, especially for the current price, it's a bargain. I'm off to try Rise Of the Tomb Raider dlc.

The best one of the Survivor series (but all 3 of them are pretty good). Fun gameplay, puzzles, climbing sections, tombs, combat, paired with an interesting story. Balanced game length too, not too short and not too long. DLCs are fun too.

    The game experience is fantastic!
I played uncharted series, and those are different. but compare to original tomb raider, I want to see more different location themes.
The game is cutting edge designed and drives you to the deep story and environment.

Its a recommendation to buy this game if its $40 or less.

Game Play is great, environments are beautiful, character animations are top notch. AI is pretty basic, I would suggest playing on harder difficulties for any hardcore gamer out there. My only real gripe with this game is the story. Unlike the last Tomb Raider game that came out in 2013, which had an amazing story, Rise of the Tomb Raider pretty much steals the plot right off of Uncharted 2. Cmon writers need to get a little more original then copy and paste.
I finished the core game and I am making my way through the DLC. Great purchase if you haven't played it already! Don't let this one slip by you, you won't regret it.

Lush graphics, the best combat in the series and many interesting environments to explore. However the story and characters seem lacking and the puzzles (while can be fun) seem out of place visually and thematically.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is an incredible game. The combat and stealth mix is a lot of fun, paired with wonderful sandboxes that you want to explore for hours. The story is middle of the road. It's overall a great game, but not one you're going to look at for much entertainment once you've beaten the main story.

I loved what they did with Lara 2.0 in the last game and this is another good adventure from Square. The game didn't feel really evolved compared to the last one so for the sequal just make sure to be a little less conservative otherwise it will become to feel less fresh.

This game is OK. It has some good bow combat and some cool set pieces. Story is kinda "bleh" and the characters boring. Overall I'd say it's worth it though if you're just looking for something to play.

Trophies are a little bit funny - too easy or too hard. Most of the DLC packs are really intense and super hard and with a lot of bugs. In Cold Darkness I laterally replaced, picked up again the needed challenges and the challenges were not activated. Dislikes:
-When Lara would sense enemies nearby she automatically crouches, but i would like to crouch with a push of a button, but there is no option to do so. This kind of takes away from the stealth experience.
-When Lara's survival instincts are activated you are not able to move because if you do the instinct will be deactivated, so you are constantly pressing the instinct button.
-Reading the documents through out the game was very TIRING as there are SO MANY documents to be found and read.
-There were times where i would want to raid a tomb, but i couldn't do so because i didn't have the right equipment and that i would have to come back to that tomb when i did which was also annoying (I never went back).
-The puzzle solving got really annoying too.
-I wish that the coin caches were worth more when found.

Considering how annoying this game was at times I still really enjoyed it and i rather play this game any day over Uncharted 4. I am definitely looking forward to playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great game that met my expectations. I saw great potential in this franchise(I think with a few improvements that game could have been a 9/10 or 10/10). I completed the main story in around 22-23 hours and did a few side missions. The optional tombs and the puzzles they contain are really well done.

For some reasons, I didn't feel really engaged in the upgrading and leveling system. There are a lot of different abilities and weapons but they could have improved the way they introduced them.

This game seems somewhere between Uncharted (adventure-linear) and Far Cry (adventure-open world).

One last thing, I did my playthrough on the standard difficulty and I would recommend playing it on a harder difficulty for more engagement (Sometimes, I had then impression I played really bad but still progressed to the next checkpoint)

One of the best modern action adventures has finally arrived to PS4. Except a few small issues this version is a success, moreover, you will get all DLC along with the game; you can play in co-op and you will experience and extraordinary trip to Lara's home –  even with the support of VR.
