    I've just finished this game for the second time and I absolutely love it. The graphics are outstanding, the attention to the smallest of details are just incredible, the story is moving. I love how slow paced the game is and how fast it can turn on a sixpence and you are caught in the middle of a massive gunfight. While at its core it is a beautifully crafted and engaging experience the moment to moment gameplay within had me constantly asking the question am I having fun, and for the most part I was but not always....

    Story - RDR2's story follows that of Arthur Morgan, surrogate Big Bro to John Marston and Dutch Vanderlin's bff. It chronicles the fall of the Vanderlin gang and how event of RDR's opening came into being. This is mostly told through story missions and cinematics, which for all intensive purposes are pretty good. A lot of missions in this game kept me engaged or interested in the plot and goings on of the gang members. This worked... for a while. Where in beginning you just happen to be on the horse one more time, experiencing the life of an outlaw at around the half way to 2/3s mark the event of the game begin feel like they're repeating themselves up until the climactic ending sequence. Then you play epilogue. Ultimately the story of RDR2 is a wonderful slough which you will be happy to to be finished by the end, but when its finally over you can't help but miss it.

    Gameplay - The beauty and flaw of RDR2's gameplay is in those moments between the big set piece shoot outs and the cutscenes. Its doing the little things in the game like harassing people on the street and hearing their response, or running into highways thugs and taking them out or just going fishing. While the gunplay and big story arch's are still enjoyable its the little bits and baubles that really tie it all together and keep you going. Just riding around I found myself asking question like should I save the lady being kidnapped on horse back or I wonder what this strange man in the park is calling me over for. Little moment like that make up the highlights reel for the game while its the big set piece to set piece story mission had me feeling bogged down when they popped up. These little moment are where it feel like the devs were able to actually have fun and experiment with what possible in this world of satire and sadism.

    While not a masterpiece, this game is no where near unplayable. At times being boring and repetitive and other engaging and visceral, the little moment that stick with you really show you why Rockstar is still considered one of the top game development studios to date, but also why they need to shake up their formula and get comfortable going outside the box more often then not.

This game is based before the original game so it doesn't matter if you didn't get the opportunity to play the original from back in the day. How ever the first one is available on PS Now the Playstation streaming service so you can go back and play it if you wish to. I managed to grab a copy in a local store for £15 so I could play through on my Playstation for trophies and I had also completed it on my PC. This game has so much to do and the graphics are outstanding. Even the physics are just amazing. Normally horse riding in games feels basic but this game just gets it near perfect. The characters in this game are so well written and you and they all bring something to the game. I never felt anyone or anything was there for no reason. It makes me sad that Rockstar never release story games anymore as they purely just focus on releasing 1 game with multiplayer and then rinsing it dry. I just wish they would do campaign DLCs like Destiny 2. When they do release a game with a story you cannot deny that they always do it well. The game was also a decent size and packed with main missions and side missions. You also got random other things that you can do along the way. Like sometimes you help random pedestrians and they mite give you a map or intel on a place you can rob for some extra cash. No matter what there is always something you can do. If you are nice to your horse you build up a bond with it allowing you to gain extra skills with it like strafing or sliding. 1 thing that was disappointing is that the city Saint Denise (I think that's the name) was tiny. It didn't feel right because it was all themed and built like a city but it probably had about 10 buildings. It was more like a large town but with a city theme. It just didn't make sense to make it so small when you got such a big open map. You can travel through it in about 15 seconds which is just silly when its supposed to be a city.
    If you haven't played this game then you have to grab it now and play it. I am shocked that this hasn't got a must play badge.    … Expand

    A Masterpiece, that’s red dead redemption 2, Others should learn from Rockstar What an open world game is, the world feels alive. Main story is prefect and it takes about 2 chapters to build the characters. for me, this is not a problem, i think it’s important to build the characters even it takes a lot of time. Every side mission have its own story and characters.

    It´s a great Game with a really beautiful Open-World with a lot of Interesting spots. If you like to Rush Videogames and like a lot of quick Action it will Maybe be a bit to boring for you. You will also be doing mundane tasks like eating, cleaning, learning etc. But that's exactly what I love about it. I can't think of a more realistic and living virtual world, where even something as mundane as sitting in a train and reading the newspaper feels so real. The game of course has its 3rd person shooter style action sequences, but they are fewer then you'd think. My only complaint would be that the law/wanted system is too harsh and quick to respond.

    Still to this day, secrets and hidden features are being uncovered. The best and most detailed virtual world ever, highlighted with it's breathtaking graphics.    … Expand

La storia è carina e nonostante il gioco sia lineare ho apprezzato il fatto che nel corso della partita si possano prendere delle decisioni, quella sul finale è decisamente la più rappresentativa poiché indipendente dalla decisione che tu prenderai (se tornare in dietro a prendere i soldi o scappare con il tuo compagno) il finale non verrà cambiato infatti in entrambi i casi il protagonista Arthur morira. Ho apprezzato anche la modalità online pur essendo molto scarna in confronto a quella di GTA.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the nest games of all time, the only reason its not a 10/10 is its kinda infuriating the amount of time that is just spent on horse back following Dutch to a mission as he gives a general breakdown.
    Best story of all time, a top tier protagonist, Micah and Dutch were amazing as antagonistic characters. All of the characters felt real and live without exception apart from Pearson who I never really felt like was a defined character. I would pay good money to play this game for the first time again. It is easily better than God of War, Last of Us, Spiderman 2018, Detroit Become Human and Skyrim. The last part of Chapter 6 was the best hour of gaming I've ever played. I had never cried to any piece of media but I cried 3 times during this. Once when John and Arthur had that nice "Thank you brother" moment, when Arthur died and after the epilogue when it showed Arthurs grave, I cried more then than I have for years.    … Expand

    This game is the best one I've ever played. Graphics is fantastic even on PS4 Slim. The open world is really interesting and full of content. The main story is really **** tragic. I've even cried at some final scenes.

    It all started in 2010 when I first dove into the start of a life long love for the outback western era. Red dead redemption for me is the best game ever made, followed closely by red dead redemption 2. No complaints from me… this game is almost perfect

    Red Dead Redemption 2 is the singular greatest game ever made. I know generally that when a person makes such a ludicrous claim like that, I immediately right it off as mindless fanaticism. And, to be frank, that is the case hear. But by God, this game is incredible. The characters are the best written in any piece of fiction I have ever consumed. For your own good, play this game.

    You know the game is great when you use it as a bar for rating other games X game is 3/Red Dead Redemption 2, so if you love open world games this is a must buy if you love non linear games this is not for you BUT THE GAME IS DISCOUNTED EVERY WEEK OR SO DO NOT BUY FOR THE ORIGINAL PRICE WAIT FOR DISCOUNT.

    It is maybe the best game that i have ever played. Rich story, good characters, great open world, tons of stuff to do and the whole atmosphere is just excellent. Even when you play the game for the second or third time you run into new stuff :)
    This review is strictly about the single player mode, it's best to not mention Red Dead Online.

    The most comprehensive, complex and perfect game I've ever played. The ultimate western simulator. It can easily aspire to be the game of all time. Maybe the epilogue is a bit too long... :)

    Easily the best Rockstar Game to date and, one of the best games of all time. Amazing open world that feels real with a diverse and extensive setting. One of the best stories ever told in video gaming history. Amazing physics. Smooth animations. And easily one of the best prequel sequels ever in media form.

    Just finished Rockstars latest masterpiece for the second time on PS5. As I used the words masterpiece, everything from the story, characters, and technical side of this game is top-notch. Rockstar still is the best video game developer which they are rocking for more than 20 years. Can't wait for their next titles.

    I'm surprised Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn't won an oscar for it's storytelling and it's acting. The world is dense with content and it feels like no inch of it is wasted. The best story ever told in video game format, without a doubt.

    Arthur, John and Dutch are just great characters. I like the open world and the combat is also good. My only issue with this games is that it feels like a walking simulator at times.

    RDR2 is definitely a masterpiece, where every little detail is worked out.

    this game is my most played game for a reason. The large world it has is full of meningfull things to do and places to discover even ignoring the 10 out of 10 story this game is amazing I am baffled it didn't win game of the year as it is the definition of a masterpiece
