R-Type Final 2 is an aesthetically brilliant ‘reboot’ of the classic arcade game by Irem Corporation. Old players will feel at home, either when approaching the game with the strategies of the past, or when they try to change habits by exploring the new possibilities offered by the game.

R-Type Final 2 is an excellent shmup and a worthwhile follow-up to one of the best shooters in the PS2's library. It could have gone a bit further to make it a more fulfilling experience but what's here is wonderful nonetheless.

Overall, R-Type Final 2 is a significant improvement over R-Type Final and has decently solid level design throughout. As R-Type games go though, R-Type Final 2 does not live up to the masterful R-Type Delta. That said, it is still a proper R-Type game and a well-crafted shmup. So blast off and have fun destroying the Bydo Empire all over again.

It is hard to think of a product more suitable for experienced R-Type Final 2 r-typers. In slavishly retracing the trail left by the famous Eighties arcade shooter, the revival operation by Granzella Inc. modernizes the playful recipe here and there. of departure, finally returning an experience with a high nostalgic rate, with a lot of difficulty well above the average, just like in the old days. Whether this is the true finale of the series or not, try not to miss the exciting opportunity to take flight among the stars again.

Even with ambiguity and brutal difficulty, R-Type Final 2 is an entertaining shoot ‘em up. Some levels and sections can be downright infuriating, but it’s also what’s expected from this series and genre. Switching up jets and applying various upgrades will totally change up your playstyle and have you thinking strategically throughout your entire playthrough. For space cadets looking for a masochistic and humbling experience, R-Type Final 2 is a voyage worthy of exploring.

A successful resurrection of the iconic retro franchise, that wallows in justifiable nostalgia but still tries to keep at least one foot in the present.

It might not be the best entry in the series, but it’s a great game for fans of the franchise or the genre.

R-Type Final 2 is a blast from the past, a good revival of the genre with a modern twist on it. Frenetic and incredibly hard is a good pastime, but can become frustrating in the long term for the pixel perfect accuracy needed.

Does exactly what it sets out to do – deliver a worthy new R-Type – very well, yet a little more ambition (and accessibility) could have gone a long way. [Issue#2, p.87]

There's always a place for classic concepts executed well, and despite being somewhat rough around the edges, that's precisely what R-Type Final 2 delivers. [Issue#359, p.116]

Ultimately, R-Type Final 2 is exactly what you’d expect a sequel to R-Type Final to be like. It certainly doesn’t attempt to reinvent the wheel, and some may be a little underwhelmed by the fact that it lacks any massive gameplay changes from previous instalments in the franchise. Still, that’s rather missing the point; games like this aren’t as common as they once were and getting a shmup of such quality in 2021 is truly something to celebrate.

R-Type Final 2 is about as niche as niche gets. It represents a genre that’s hardly en vogue, and it’s a traditional, hardcore example of an experience that ferociously clings to its roots. This is not the shmup I would gift to someone in hopes of luring them into the genre, and it’s an especially difficult sell with the rather astounding $40 price point before DLC. All of this makes R-Type Final 2 a game with a fairly narrow scope, but anyone directly within that Venn diagram will be in for an exceptionally-produced, technically excellent iteration on a legendary franchise.

I've played R-Type across many systems since 1987, and Final 2 is not the glorious swan song the series deserves. It's still R-Type, so fans will find some things to like, but it has flat, dull presentation and some odd design choices that diminish the shoot 'em up great.

A game funded by fans for fans, it’s perhaps miraculous that R-Type Final 2 even exists. It’s a shame that Granzella wasn’t a little forward thinking with its development, enticing new players into the fold to ensure the future of the franchise. As it is, R-Type Final 2 feels old-fashioned and punishing to a fault. There are simply better shoot ’em ups available that are faster paced, fairer, better looking and more accessible.

R-Type Final 2 just doesn't live up to the hype, or the weight of its own history. Ultimately, it feels a little unfinished, like they underestimated the initial Kickstarter and had to deliver a game, even if it wasn't the one we all dreamed it could be.

I got this for free via whatever PSN subscription bonus there was, I loved original R-Type way way back. This one feels "right", but is just doesn't play right. Maybe I'm too old for this sh*t who knows :) But it just feels too clunky and unforgiving in a bad way for me to spend time on this shooter, which could've been great… Oh well.

Você pensa em se divertir mas só acaba por passar raiva, balanceamento de dificuldade torna o jogo cansativo e sem atrativo.
