Sadly, there are just too many flaws to enjoy the game in it's current state: God-awful bloom, horrible unbalanced difficulty curves, an in-game currency system that forces monotonous replay to unlock new craft, and terrible checkpoints.

A simple y llana recreativa.

It's R-type. Either you know what to expect or you likely won't care at all. Tons of ships to unlock. A boatload of customization options. Several difficulties, and a whole universe of enemies to btfu. If you like shmup's this is definitely one of those.

It looks good until you actually start to play it. But the balance is just not there, you keep dying from stupid things to a degree that at times you wonder what exactly killed you.
I got this for free via whatever PSN subscription bonus there was, I loved original R-Type way way back. This one feels "right", but is just doesn't play right. Maybe I'm too old for this sh*t who knows :) But

I’ll start off with the bad. There are lots of visual effects which sometimes make it hard to see what kills you. It’s not a game ruining problem but it has happened to me a few times. It’s worth the trade-off to me as I enjoy the bright flashes and vibrant colors. Final 2 has much more visually attractive graphical design than Final 1 was.

The good is that R-Type is back! Everyone’s

The good is that R-Type is back! Everyone’s favorite ships, favorite weapons and favorite enemy - the Bydo! It’s a really fun and addicting game. It has a ton of replay value which is good because you’ll need those replays as practice to progress through the game. That’s right, the arcade quarter-muncher difficulty is back in full “force” (R-Type pun intended). If you decide to get the DLC or Digital Deluxe version then you’ll get 6 reimagined stages from previous games in the series.

If you’re a fan of old school shmups then it’s a must-buy. R-Type is back and has a fresh coat of paint.

I like this game so far! However I think there's some stuff I'd change. I really hope that we see better balance in the game

R-Type Final 2 is about as niche as niche gets. It represents a genre that’s hardly en vogue, and it’s a traditional, hardcore example of an experience that ferociously clings to its roots. This is not the shmup I would gift to someone in hopes of luring them into the genre, and it’s an especially difficult sell with the rather astounding $40 price point before DLC. All of this makes R-Type Final 2 a game with a fairly narrow scope, but anyone directly within that Venn diagram will be in for an exceptionally-produced, technically excellent iteration on a legendary franchise.

R-Type Final 2 is a blast from the past, a good revival of the genre with a modern twist on it. Frenetic and incredibly hard is a good pastime, but can become frustrating in the long term for the pixel perfect accuracy needed.

Does exactly what it sets out to do – deliver a worthy new R-Type – very well, yet a little more ambition (and accessibility) could have gone a long way. [Issue#2, p.87]
