You can play against a friend in the same room and it spins the table around depending on whose turn it is, which is really kind of cool in itself. You can play against the computer, which is fine because it does not do the same moves every time. Beating a 6 or above is probably not going to happen. I have not played online as having read the reviews here I don't want to play a game with an idiot that quits the game half way through or does not move for minutes at a time, no thanks! The game is a great looking chess game and I am pleased with it. Expand

Pure Chess looks gorgeous, and offers an excellent single-player experience. But while playing the AI opponent is fun, the game's woefully underdeveloped online mode makes playing against humans decidedly not.

Solo players might enjoy this, as long as they don't stray online. [June 2014, p82]

Nevertheless, if you haven’t played the PS3 or Vita versions, and you’re eager to enjoy some virtual chess, then this is the best option currently available, as it really looks sensational.
