Finished the game once. It truly is a breathtaking experience. I'm starting a second playthrough because even after 100+ hours, I still have more to experience. Easily one of the greatest RPG of all time.

A first timer in Persona series and I can surely say that the brilliance level of this game is incredible. A refreshing approach from standard RPG games battles, real time or turn based, it doesn't matter. Strategies ranging from targeting enemy weakness to gain new turns to selecting the best partners for each battle.
A nice story that scales in importance and greatness. Not surprising

A nice story that scales in importance and greatness. Not surprising it's the best ranked PS4 game from 2017 until now, and one of the highest scores from both critic and users of all time ever.
    Definitely worth trying it.

For me this is easily one of the best games in 2017 (if not the best one).
I love story-driven games and this one is a diamond among them.
The game features a deep, mature story with a lot to think over. It's slow at the start but once you're 20 hours into the game, you'll captivated by what it has to offer. At the same time, it's very mindful of little details that turn raw gameplay

In addition, it features stellar art design, loveable characters, deep progression system and brilliant storytelling which makes a perfect example or proper pacing. Oh, right, and the music is TOP NOTCH creating the right mood at the right time.

Yes, i admit that the graphics are somewhat outdated for 2017, it's not Crytek with 100.000 polygons per one cm^2 of a character's face, it does not have complex material shading, but whatever. It does not need this to be an awesome story-driven game, and the art style completely makes up for the lack of tech.

I spent 100+ hours on my first playthrough and i'm a little dissapointed that i finished the game. Need more games like this.

And I was wrong. From the frachise-stylish start, with that blazing jazz soundtrack I couldn't and wouldn't stop. Everything I disliked about 4 was fixed. The dungeons are now fun, instead of rng tunnels. You can manage your time more easily. But most importantly the persona fusion system is much, much better.

Combat has seen some tweaking, with the introduction of guns (with limited ammo) and a whole range of new perks to unlock from a fantastic range of people. And thank GOD the double-weak stun mechanic is gone. However, if you as the MC die it's still game over. It's not a big issue, but it still sometimes annoys me when stars align and I get killed before I can do anything about it. 45 hours into the game, and it has happened once, so it's not something you should judge the game upon.

The soundtrack is the best in the series. P3 had a few really great tracks, P4 was kinda 'safe' for a lack of a better word but P5 went all out and struck gold. My weeabooism requires me to play with undub and if you do the same you'll hear many prominent voices, and while they do a great job having Gintoki and Kinpachi in the same room is just begging for "herpes, herpes me!"

If you're looking for an entry game into the series, start with 3 (FES), then 4. You won't be disappointed with either title; they're phenomenal. But if you start with 5 you're kinda spoiled, since it just doesn't get any better than this.

The apex of JRPG. For me a 10/10 game is a game that defines a genre, if a friend of mine would like to try a JRPG for the first time Persona 5 would be the game that I would recommend. The apex of JRPG. For me a 10/10 game is a game that defines a genre, if a friend of mine would like to try a JRPG for the first time Persona 5 would be the game that I would recommend. This was my first experience with Persona series and oh boy....who would guess that this game would be for me the best game of this generation, even surpassing The Witcher 3.

I always enjoyed RPG's but regarding JRPG's there was always something that kept me away from them (the closest experience that I had with these games was with the Kingdom Hearts series). The reason that i decided to try this game was because of the Universal acclaim that this game had received. After 136h I can say this was one of the most wonderful experiences that I had in my 10 years of gaming.

Now why did i fell in love with this game:

    - Interesting characters: I loved each time that i could hang out with them and learn new thing about them. You could even romance some of them, which would unlock new scenes with them during events like Christmas eve, School festival etc, you can even bring them to your room to "study". In the end of the game I feel very attached to each one of them, particularly the members of Phantom thieves.

    - Great and mature Story: Do not be deceived by the "cartoonish" looks of the game, it approaches themes like sexual exploration of students made by a teacher, plagiarism committed by a supposed famous artist, etc. From the beginning to the end the story never loses his focus and is always very nice. Seeing the development of the phantom thieves from the beginning to the end is amazing.

-Amazing combat: Persona 5's turn based combat is one of the best that i have seen, i never got bored fighting the shadows and exploring their weakness was always fun! I was always eager to get in a new fight and use my newly fused persona's.

    - Beautiful art-style: Everything in this game is stylish, from the beautiful city of shibuya, to the cool desing of the palaces, even the menu is very stylish. The design of the Persona's is awesome too.

    - Amazing soundtrack: From the soundtrack used in battles, to the soundtrack used in the city during the night, or during emotional dialogues with your confidants, everything regarding the soundtrack was amazing. I still find me singing the songs in my head.

-World: I never felt boring walking around in shibuya or in the other districts of Tokyo, during the day and night you always have things to do, like taking a bath to increase your charm, watch a movie with your girlfriend, work in a part time job to earn money and increase other social stats, help your confidants with their problems etc. This was always cool because you could see the grown that caused in your character (being more proficient, kinder, charmer, etc) and the development of your relationships with your confidants.Overall living your life as a student during the day and a phantom thief during the night was very entertaining, I never felt bored.

I enjoyed every single hour of my 136h with the game, and honestly I cannot find many negative issues with the game. The graphics were not the best, you can clearly see that this game was built for last-gen consoles (Ps3), but that was not a big issue because the art-style as I said before was amazing. One of the things that I would like was to see the impact of your grades in your classmates opinion, in spite of the fact that you were one of the best in your school your classmates never changer their opinion regarding you, but that for me was a very small issue. I would also like to see the impact of your romance on your teammates of the phantom thieves, they basically never became aware that you are romancing someone (even if you are romancing someone from the team), but I understand why Atlus made that decision (to preserve the harem route). However overall these issues were pretty minimal, and I still believe that this game deserves a 10. Right now I am in a "end-game-hangover", after spending 2 months playing this game I terribly miss the Phantom thieves...that speaks for how good the game is. I am thinking in starting watching the anime, maybe that will relieve me of this feeling.

If you are thinking in playing a JRPG I definitely recommend this one, It will be one hell of adventure!

Pretty much a perfect game, and certainly the best game of 2017. Everything from graphics, to story, to characters, to music, to battle mechanics, to quality of life features like fast-forwarding, is just magnificent.

Really, the only gripe I have is the inconsistencies in dungeon length and safe room locations. But, with that said, it's more of a get gud -type of problem.

That being said, it's a game you play in a weird way, it's nothing out of the ordinary to stop playing for a month before picking it up again (it's story is quite long). This goes perfectly with it's laid back attitude while playing. The music is top notch and the pace is as fast as you want to play.

It's not fair to other JRPGs, but I just couldn't enjoy Dragon Quest 11, Octopath Traveler , the new Tales game, all because Persona 5 is just so damn good. Please play this game.

Persona 5 does an excellent job of taking old school gameplay and making it feel new. It improves on Persona 4 in almost every way. Anyone who likes turn based story driven JRPGs will most likely love this game. Probably the biggest flaw ofPersona 5 does an excellent job of taking old school gameplay and making it feel new. It improves on Persona 4 in almost every way. Anyone who likes turn based story driven JRPGs will most likely love this game. Persona 4 was the first game in the series that I played and while I liked it a lot there were several areas that I thought the game was very weak. Probably the biggest flaw of Persona 4 was that the dungeons were crap. In that regard Persona 5 is a dramatic improvement and it doesn't stop there. Atlus should be commended for staying true to the core gameplay that makes Persona what it is while also evolving. It is a great example of how consistent iteration is often better than changing the formula entirely.

In terms of gameplay Persona 5 offers a lot more than 4 did. The combat is pretty similar but this time there are more options. Adding guns and hold ups in combat really helps to make each encounter feel more interesting and breaks up the monotony of grinding. Another thing I really like is that as your relationships with team members improve you get more options with them in battle, such as the ability to pass the baton after a knock down. It would have been nice to have the ability to perform combos with team mates but hopefully they will include something like that in the next game. Outside of combat, dungeon crawling is much better, there is now a stealth element to every dungeon and there are also puzzles to solve. Some of the puzzles were mediocre but each palace offers different ones so at least it stays fresh. Activities in the overworld are also pretty diverse this time. I would have liked to see more interactive game elements but for a story driven game it isn't the priority. While combat is pretty good I did find that it got repetitive in certain areas, the Momentos sections in particular were quite boring. Another weak point is that decision making in conversation has very little affect on the story itself. The blend of combat, dungeon crawling and social sim were really well balanced though and I rarely found myself bored. For a 150 hour game that's an accomplishment.

The Story was really what made Persona 4 great for me and Persona 5 has a story that is even better. This time there are far more villains and each one offers subplots that eventually tie together into a much bigger conspiracy. The game does an excellent job of gradually ramping up the stakes and revealing new twists as your group delves progressively deeper into the mystery of the metaverse. Each boss and party member offers a compelling story but what makes this game so great is how all of the stories tie together and make sense. While the story is very anime and certainly doesn't take itself seriously all the time, it knows how to be serious when it needs to be and almost nothing that happens in the story feels random. One problem I did have with the story though is that some of the arcs were far less impressive than others. Of course I don't expect all of the story lines to be equal but I thought the Kamoshida story line was far better than most of the others . That story line felt personal, the characters were all connected to him and had interactions with him that made you feel the rage that the characters felt. After his palace the next two felt very lack luster.

Characters are another strong point for Persona and I think Persona 5 once again improves on 4. For example Morgana is a much more complex character than Teddie was. There are a lot of characters and nearly all of them are well developed. My only major complaint is that while the characters are developed they aren't nuanced, they wear their personalities on the outside. There is very little of the subtle emotions that real people have. It is too bad because early in the game there were hints of that. The first interactions with Anne were great unfortunately her character becomes more one tone as the story progresses. Still the sheer number of characters and the fact that they all have decent stories makes this game stand well above the majority. Though it isn't quite on the level of something like the Witcher 3.

Visually this game is full of style and has a super clean look. It doesn't have nearly the level of detail as something like Horizon Zero Dawn but everything looks appealing and is thought out. Each dungeon is unique and full of thoughtful choices. Some of the bosses are very creative. Some areas like Momentos were a bit bland though.

Sound design is mostly great. All of the voice acting seemed on point. Even when the voices were a bit weird it usually seemed to fit the character. The sound track is good but there were times that it would grate on me. In Momentos the soundtrack is awful and can be infuriating after hours of play. The boss music is great though and the soundtrack is overall really unique.

It is really rare that a game gets me this invested in its story, world and characters.

    I give it 89%

My personal favourite feature in this game is how the social links (or confidants) work, in these games, every confidant is worth spending time with due to their exclusive features which are a great deal of help in advancing the story. Now that i mention the story, i began the game feeling somewhat disappointed in Atlus for using the flashback feature in a game, i dislike this feature for personal reasons, however, as i advanced through the story, i became aware of why they chose to use this storytelling technique, it is definitely a unique and intelligent use of the medium and they have done a fantastic job of revolving the story around this. As for my opinion of the game, i feel that it deserves a 10/10. As a massive fan of JRPG's and turn based games, this series, and this game in particular are at a level so high that other JRPG's should be struggling to compete with them, i could go on and on about this game, however, like most Persona games, they should be experienced by the player and so I recommend playing this as soon as possible. The game itself is very long. It probably one of, if not the longest linear, story driven, single player game I’ve ever played. The game spends a lot of this time on character development and lets you slowly establish and build your relationship with those around you. It’s not afraid to “waste” time on everyday activities where you just talk and have a good time with your friend, which in the ends makes the characters feel much more real than many other games.

Even though there are some negatives in the game such as the clunky controls, lack of voiced dialogue in some conversations, a low variety of voice lines during combat that is used way too often and some other negatives, overall I found the game to be amazing! The story and characters hooked me to the game and the fact that the journey lasted a very long time makes it even better! The game had almost everything from a good story and characters to a nice art style and music and it also provided a challenging gameplay that somehow manages to throw in a bunch of humor and creepiness at the same time. An amazing game and I look forward to a Persona 6 in the future!

The gameplay is unique, diverse, and rewarding as it intertwines engaging social interaction with an addicting, downright fun combat style. Many times I would find myself smiling and cheering as I landed the perfect combo with one of my Phantom Thieves.

Throughout the 100+ hours I played, I found myself emotionally invested in the characters and overall story. The characters are unique and flawed, and that's what makes them feel real. It made me feel a sense of joy as I saw them grow and succeed alongside me. The story tackles dark and complicated issues in society and handles them with contagious positivity.

The artistic comic-book style and catchy acid jazz soundtrack beautifully compliments the enjoyable gameplay and engaging storyline.

When the game finally ended and I had a few days to reflect on my experience, I realized I genuinely missed the characters and this universe that I had come to know and love.

    5/5. A Masterpiece.

Easily the best JRPG game, second only to final fantasy 7. The music is amazing (I often listen to the soundtrack on my phone) and the visuals are just as amazing. The game sometimes feels like it drags on a bit but for the most part the pacing is great.

Everything you do has a reason for you to do it, nothing here's pointless. The story has fun moments and even sad ones that bring you to tears, and the sensational music never gets annoying. (Soundtrack Review) If you're a fan of P5, then you should already have this soundtrack. All 110 tracks you definitely will recognize and remember when it happens. Shoji Meguro has made the perfect soundtrack of tracks that stand out on their own, but not compared to the songs with Lyn. Lyn is a perfect match for these songs and they never get old, even in the 1000+ battles you'll go through in the game. This jazzy soundtrack may well be my favorite soundtrack of all time

Persona 5 is the condensation of all that makes a Persona game fun, a natural evolution of the path established by Persona 3 on PS2. Delicious aesthetic, delightful soundtrack, lovable characters and an atually good story (maybe not as good as P4, but still very good for JRPG standards). I put 125 hours in the game, loved every minute of it.

The gameplay is mirrored in a way, with half the game taking place in modern Tokyo, where you play as a high school student with a bad reputation, trying to live an honest student's life. However, the other half of the gameplay you spend navigating creatively crafted dungeons called "palaces", and trying to change the hearts of the "evil adults" with corrupt desires. While the gameplay itself could alone almost earn this game a 10/10, what really makes it special is the story and the characters. The story may feel a bit "video game-ish", with each new character going through a similar ordeal which does get slightly repetitive. "New character is in some form exploited by an evil adult. Your group decides to help. The new character has an awakening and joins your group." The story does however depart from this as all the characters have joined you and that's when it really starts picking up speed. The characters are, however, undoubtedly the best part of the game in my eyes. Their interactions amongst themselves are just as entertaining as spending time with them one on one. They are all very distinct and all have their own great sense of humor and as the credits roll, I can't wait to start a new game+ and meet them all over again. This is one of the best RPGs of all time.

As for minus side game can get bit repetitive sometimes, it has kinda similar formula through its whole run anyway. Also for me at least game was bit too easy on normal difficulty, I am someone already familiar with persona games so for someone new to games normal might be actually quite ideal difficulty, as hard difficulty on the other hand can be really punishing if you do not know what you are doing so this can be bit of an issue for some people looking for more challenge but not really understanding everything and having social links low level etc. xd as I could see someone getting too many game overs in such case. For me personally hard difficulty did offer really nice challenge though which will affect positively my score as I had much fun beating the game due to this.

One small reason this isn't a 10 is because the final couple palaces jump up too far in levels. If you play through the whole game normally, fighting all the enemies you see and clearing Mementos, you will still be underlevelled for them. A large reason why this isn't a 10 is because the final boss and story comes out of nowhere. I was extremely annoyed by how it seemed like the devs realized they needed to finish the game and pulled out the final boss out of nowhere. I would have given the game a 9.5/10, rounded up to 10, if the final palace segment was not there.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Perk of having the Flu - finally able to finish Persona 5. What an experience it was. I had never played a Persona game before, but I fellow RPG-loving friend told me this was the time to try it. I can't believe I'd never played this series before. The game was a blast, combat was a blast, collecting personas was a blast, and I enjoyed the story for the most part. I guess as someone who hasn't played the series before, I wasn't as blown away by Igor being imitated. And I felt as if the ending of the game in regards to the depths of Momentos, the final boss, and the build up to it was a bit underwhelming. But the journey to get there, what a ride.

I really liked every character, save Ryuji outside of his confidant story line. It felt like the writers wanted him to just be the guy that messed everything up. I really wanted to like the character, especially after his personal arc, but I just did not like the way he was written.

My only other complaint, which I also had for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, is the blatant womanizing, and using women as sex symbols. I get this is supposed to be about high schoolers, and I remember some of the stuff I did in high school. But the freaking out every time the girls were in bathing suits, staring, making this painfully obvious that there was some sexual tension or something, is just a big turn off for me in games. Honestly, it bothered me even more than the option to romance grown adults.

Definitely love the series save a few things and I definitely want to go back and play some of the prior installations now that I've got P5 under my belt.

If you are not particularly open-minded about the format and subject matter of your games, it's probably the only reason to keep away from Persona 5. The school days, some interactions with characters (particularly the romantic portions), and themes of the dungeons are probably too much for those looking for a traditional gaming experience.

It is fun, thoughtful, (somewhat) challenging, and slick. I was entirely new to the series and if I had anything other than a PS4 I would definitely go back and play the other titles.

The visuals are one of the most stylistic I've seen; it's insane how much detail was put into this game. Persona 5's depiction of Tokyo is very accurate; the areas are lively and are just waiting to be explored. Music in this game is stellar and addicting to listen to. They fit each situation perfectly and create an immersive atmosphere that is difficult to find in most modern video games. The story is strong, as it has caught my attention from the very beginning because of its cast of lovable, well-written characters and the themes it tackles that relate to a modern day society.

Generally for most people, it will take around 100+ hours to complete one playthrough, but I assure you every minute of the journey is worth it. The minor flaws I felt were worth a mention were the occassional low res textures, some redundant dialogue, and a slow paced beginning, none of which took away much from my overall experience with the game. Initially, I was worried about the hype it was given prior to release, and that it might become a disappointment like some other anticipated games. Thankfully, this wasn't the case, as it has lived up to its set expectations and exceeded them.

Following up to an already successful franchise, Persona 5 takes what made Persona 3 and 4 great, and improves on it in every way possible. The game raises the bar from Persona 4 and is an example of what a modern JRPG can offer. Atlus deserves recognition for such a well-executed sequel to the Persona series, and as a result the game earns a deserved 10/10 (which I don't hand out often), a masterpiece and one of the best games I've played. As for recommendations, if you're a fan of JRPGs or are keen to pick up one of the best PS4 games this year, Persona 5 has got you covered. The Phantom Thieves have truly stolen my heart!

P5 reignited my love for single-player games. I had forgotten how fun turn-based games really were.

As much as I love Final Fantasy and Pokemon, they've clearly lost their touch. I recently played P3 and P4. I was suprised on how games from 10 years ago is still better than the newer games of this generation.

Persona 5 is the gold standard for JRPGs. I'm really excited to see if the next Persona game can live up to the standard set by this wonderful game.

It's JRPG, so it doesn't have the popular game style.
Overall, it's awesome game!! Excellent characters, music, story and long playtime. Be careful with spoilers.
However, game didn't use characters well enough. Cooperation was not good as P4G. Some of characters did pretty much nothing in story or team. Very unbalanced character roles in main story line. I heard they've changed story

We are missing one arcana, so we will have completed version like P3F or P4G. I hope they enhance the story line, cooperation and fix some character unbalance. It's great game! So I want to see it better on completed version!!

It's no mean feat to make a 110 hour story pass by without any fatigue, and Persona 5 manages it effortlessly. The most endearing, engrossing, visually impacting thing I've played since prime-era Final Fantasies, Persona 5 has cemented itself in my hall of fame.

Half turn-based RPG, half life simulator, there's so much content to enjoy in Persona 5 it is extremely overwhelming to begin with. Deciding what to do on a day-to-day basis, which characters to spend time with, what social stats to work on, is anxiety-inducing to begin with, but this game really just needs to be experienced. Guides etc. ruin it, so I found myself having the most fun when I just went with my gut and did what felt right. The story sees you trying to fit in and survive at a Tokyo high school by day, while infiltrating the unconscious mind of criminals at night, in an attempt to change their dastardly ways by 'changing their heart'. Thing get very dark in places, taking me aback many times, but the characters involved are truly special. At first appearing to fulfill the standard cast of anime stereotypes, every main character gets time to shine and develop believably as things progress. Crises of identify, mental breakdowns, heartbreak, hope and new aspirations drive the narrative, and the cast's development ties closely in the the story. The mysteries of the narrative last until the final hours of play and pacing is helped infinitely by the calendar system ticking on nicely.

Speaking of which, little did I think a game about time management would be so enjoyable. Days are divided up into portions. You go to school Mon-Sat daytime but after school and the evening are yours to do whatever you wish. Hanging out with one of the 20+ 'confidants' boosts your bond with them (with knock on skills and perks attached as well as side-stories). Activities like reading, shopping, crafting, cooking, making coffee, playing baseball, working a part time job and so much more boost your character's social stats which in turn open up different confidant advances. As I said, deciding what you want to do is overwhelming, but it's best to just do what you want as every single thing is hugely enjoyable.

For the JRPG elements of the game, there are dungeons (called Palaces) in-game which are tied to each narrative chapter and the criminal involved. Exploration is straightforward and battling is turn-based, but the real focus is, of course, on Personas. There spirits can be collected (there are ~200 of them) and each have their own attacks, skills, elemental affinities, buffs and spells which the main character can use against enemies. You can have 8 to 12 on hand at any time and they can be fused together to make better and better options. Collecting and fusing is so addictive and battles are tactical, brutal in places and require a lot of careful moves. An ambush by an enemy at any point in the game can be fatal. I cannot undersell how well-designed every single Persona is, they need to be seen to be believed. Penis monsters, incubus, angels, Hindu goddesses, ghostly samurai, dragons, gnomes, you name it. An optional randomly-generated seemingly endless dungeons provides grinding spots and catch-ups for all previous Persona. Using your and your teammates' elemental strengths tactfully to bring your enemies to their knees is key to battle and highly polished and addictive.

Finally, the main selling point of this game...the design. I have truly never played anything that looks like Persona 5. The graphic, illustrative way everything (pause menus, text boxes, maps, item screens, battle menus, save screens, cutscenes, day transitions, phonecalls.......) looks is mind-blowing. Bold, colourful, punchy and totally unique, this is the pinnacle of stylish game design and sets it apart from all the grey, grim, realistic games which are so favoured these days. Add in to this great voice acting, a FANTASTIC soundtrack and an insane amount of attention to detail in every Tokyo street, shop, dungeon and environment,

This game is outstanding. It's like playing your own anime, every bit as ludicrous, over the top, fun and melodramatic as you imagine. But something that took my by surprise is that it's also quite relaxing. The chilled music, going for coffee with characters who you truly learn to know and love, exploring what I've heard is a very accurate portrayal of Tokyo and basically living a second life is so freeing, so escapist, that it's a joy to play after a hard day at work. And then you get mauled in a battle and realise it's also not for the faint hearted. But, beware...it will suck your life from your very existence. In my case, I didn't mind one single bit!

Buy this game if you like RPG's simple as that, my only two massive problems with the game is the romance options which gives you a lot of options but in terms of depth very disappointing, and the puzzles in the dungeons where super unnecessary most are easy while mainly only achieving to waste time and add a lot of backtracking while seeming fun on my first run they where an eye sore on my second overall the dungeons are great from a style point of view but overall needed more meat and bones less puzzles and mini cut scenes, but these problems doesn't stop Persona 5 from being my game of the year. The story is great, it tackles real world issues with a really unique style and in a way that doesnt feel like they're trying to force their opinion on you. As with any JRPG its lengthy whith my total play time coming to about 92 hr. (granted that all isnt story but still, i think i played the game like a normal person would without doing a bunch of side quests or grinding)

The combat is turn base but they introduce a lot of really cool features and systems that give turn based combat a breath of fresh air.

The graphics themsevles may not set any records but good lord is this game stylish. The game oozes style and just down right beatiful art style that to this day is still my all time fav that no game is even close to beating. The attention they put into all the art, characters, bad guys, enimies and just the game itself is staggering.

Down right best sound track in a video game in my opinion that suits every situation in the game with the perfect atmosphere.

The characters or "confidants" are all superb characters in their own right and the game rewards you with relevant perks and skills for spending the time to get to know these great characters.

This barely scratches how much i love and feel about this game. All in all this game is just a must play, even if you dont like JRPG's. (wait for it to go on sale!) i've seen many people who dont like or play JRPG's that tried this game and enjoyed themselves. In total the game is just an outstanding package that delivers on so many levels, so much so that even a year later i still love this game just as much as when i first played it and still carry what i felt and took away from it to this day. At the end of the day i think thats probably the biggest factor in any game, what did it make you feel? What did you take away and does it stick with you?

Perhaps the only RPG it stands in the shadow of is the Witcher 3, though it took both DLCs for my playtime to compare to Persona's (136 and 140 respectively). These are two very different style o RPGs, with the Witcher having an entire book series to rely on for characterization. Additionally the stylized nature of Persona, the way its narrative is presented as almost a 3D graphic novel whose main character you control, and how the game's systems are interconnected with how the story is told, gives Persona 5 a sense of harmony and symmetry - a feeling of all the pieces fitting perfectly together like a puzzle - that is unmatched in any video game today.

My only criticism against the game is that there are some minor pacing issues. There is a lengthy tutorial that took me up to 8 hours to complete before the social simulator part of the game finally became unlocked and I could explore the streets of Tokyo. That said, it took me 140 hours to finish the game, so the tutorial is proportionate to the length of other tutorials for games of a much shorter length. Another problem with the early game is that a fundamental game mechanic goes explained until after you clear the main dungeon, which based on how you managed your time (waited too late to clear the dungeon) can break your save (there are however a multiplicity of save slots that should be used in case you make this error, or any error in leveling your character). The game also dragged for me a little at around the 3rd act, which depending in how you played can result in a lot of free time, which when concluded transitions into the plot's weakest story-line. Once this bump in the road concludes the story really ramps up with great plot twists and character development, and the pressure to max out your stats increases immensely as you have less and less time to do so.

I could go on about the side content and achievements, but you get the picture. Persona 5 is easily one of the greatest and most memorable experiences I have ever had playing a video game.
