    Wow, just Wow. I never Thought a game so dialogue heavy and story driven could get me so attached. I’ve always been more of “Not too Many cutscenes, more action and gameplay” Type of person, but something’s just different about Persona 5. I love every single second of it, the story, the characters, the turn-based combat. It all just comes together so perfect. Im 50 hours in which is onlyWow, just Wow. I never Thought a game so dialogue heavy and story driven could get me so attached.     If you find yourself feeling like an overpowered god in "Royal", just give this game a shot in Hard Mode. Now this is the true "OG" of a good challege. No more added benifical effects to help you. Would reccomend to "Royal" players.

    Best JRPG there is. Sets the barrier high on how an JRPG should be these days. If there is a single thing to complain about, then its the missing fast forward button sometimes I cannot skip some dialogues fast enough, what can be tiresome when you played to game through a couple oft times.

There is a ton of text in the script here, but it doesn't translate into vivid, emotional experience.

    Persona paints beatiful picture, but it paints it with style, brave (but smart!)    Persona 5 does such an exeptional job in so many areas that it feels sad to give it anything other than 10, but I have to, simply because the story and characters are above everything else in jrpgs for me. There is a ton of text in the script here, but it doesn't translate into vivid, emotional experience.

    Persona paints beatiful picture, but it paints it with style, brave (but smart!) use of colors, themes, transitions, it does try to be clever or funny with its text, but more often than not it doesn't work all that well, perhaps the translation is weak, but I don't think it should take all the blame.

    And for every thing it executes with brillance, you can find it equally as boring and unimaginative at times. For example: every single time you make a new social link, you get the scene with your interrogator asking you about said connection, it's boring, always the same and serves little purpose other than reminding you about that part of the narrative, you literally know what's going to happen and what will be said, is there any worse sin in a storytelling?
    Not enough for you? How about Morgana telling you that need to sleep almost every evening, pissing you off because you wanted to actually do something with your time (this is largely fixed in the Royal).

    Exploration kind of begs for a bit more too, interaction is limited and areas are usually very small.
    Huge part of dialog choices contains literally three versions of what is essentially the same statement.
    Well, there is a lot stuff like that.

    But Persona 5 still managed to steal my heart.
    I can't recall any game with more style.
    Music is fantastic, batlles are fun and its easy to sink in this world for long hours.
    Maybe that's the problem too, Persona wants to be as long as possible and it certainly manages to do that. The question is, does it compromise on the quality because of that? I think it does.

    If you never played it, I would pick Royal edition, it adds a lot of neat things and about the only con I can thing of is that it seems less challenging, but that's only because you have so many options to improve here.    … Expand

    This is a must play game, it is the first turn based RPG that I played and its art design and style is captivating. The story is so unique it really gets your head spinning at times.

    Being someone who hasn't played a lot of jrpg's i only bought this game in promo not long ago mostly cause I've heard so much good stuff about it. And boy is it much better than i hoped. i got seriously hooked. there are flaws ofc. combat does get repetitive but the characters and story the world itself is amazing and i was never bored. always looking forward to play more. had hard timeBeing someone who hasn't played a lot of jrpg's i only bought this game in promo not long ago mostly cause I've heard so much good stuff about it.     One of the best games I have played in years I can't describe how good it is, I haven't feel like this over a game since ps1 final fantasy games.

    I have played this game after release and I am considering the time it came out and the current price it is sold at. This game being so cheap honestly makes it an amazing value and the price would be my biggest reason I would recommend this over p5r but if you do have the money p5r is like a semi remaster with a little more content that should've been cheaper.     i fell in love with the cast of Persona 5, its music its world and everything it had to do. As you can tell if a game keeps you playing it for 96 hours(for me) of main campaign then you know its a good game.

    JRPG's não são exatamente a minha praia quando se trata de jogos de vídeo game, sou grande fã de animes, mas jogos de RPG japoneses nem sempre conseguiram me cativar, e confesso que nem sei o que me atraiu de antemão a dar uma chance a Persona 5. O Título merece aqui ser elogiado, porque é um jogo "de nicho" que entrega uma    UM JOGO DE NICHO QUE DEVERIA SER APROVEITADO POR TODOS

    JRPG's não são exatamente a minha praia quando se trata de jogos de vídeo game, sou grande fã de animes, mas jogos de RPG japoneses nem sempre conseguiram me cativar, e confesso que nem sei o que me atraiu de antemão a dar uma chance a Persona 5.

    O Título merece aqui ser elogiado, porque é um jogo "de nicho" que entrega uma enorme experiência ao ponto de valer a pena viajantes de primeira viajem em Persona, como eu saírem com a impressão que depois de uma média de 100 horas de gameplay, ter em mente que esse é um dos melhores exclusivos de PS4/PS3 (apesar de rolar boatos que possa sair a versão Royal para outras plataformas).
    Falando do Jogo em si, ele não é perfeito, a grande "falha" dele é ter um ritmo muito desacelerado no começo, e isso até tem um motivo, porque a gama de mecânicas que o jogo apresenta, que é vasta, precisa de uma introdução para que o jogador possa chegar a um ponto de fazer toda essas opções estejam familiarizadas para saber onde quer focar, quais excluir, sim, pode se terminar o game completamente ignorando algumas mecânicas do jogo, como ignorar alguns confidents, mas aviso que é completamente não recomendado, o jogo tem muitas formas de se jogar e cada uma tem sua recompensa e utilidade no jogo todo. Persona 5 tem uma história excelente, mas algumas vezes no final, se vê repetindo várias coisas que o jogador já ta ciente do que está acontecendo, o que mais me deixou entediado quanto a isso são as imensas conversas de grupo dos Phantom Thieves, o grupo acabou de sair de um Palácio, que são as Dungeons do game, e conversa sobre tudo que acabou de ocorrer, isso se torna massante, especificamente para quem joga em Pt-Br lendo uma tradução em inglês, porque por melhor que você seja em traduzir, o jogo vai te deixar cansado de ler algumas situações redundantes, isso particularmente é o pior aspecto do jogo, saber que a História é espetacular, e ter que dispensar alguns momentos por em pleno 2017, época de lançamento do jogo, o Título não ter no MÍNIMO uma tradução em Pt-Br.

    Desvantagens já faladas, vamos a tudo que o jogo faz de melhor, que não são poucas coisas, a começar pela história, que evolui de forma que pensa se em um primeiro momento que se vai ser clichê adolescente, mas além de abordar temas polêmicos como depressão e assédio, consegue entregar plot twists justificáveis, enganar o jogador e transformar tudo que ele tá pensando sobre o enredo algo que ao seu modo é bem orginal, em tudo do Design criativo de cada persona (ou Stands kkkk) aos personagens, que são todos carismáticos e absolutamente todos tem uma história que vale a pena ser ouvida, falando em ouvir a trilha sonora desse jogo é impecável, combina do mesmo jeito que Gustavo Santaolalla faz com The Last of Us.
    Quanto ao gameplay, nem me lembro da última vez que joguei um RPG de turnos que não tenha sido pokemon, e posso dizer que o estilo foi bem elaborado aqui, não é de nenhuma forma entediante e sua mecânica é algo que realmente vicia, testar e construir builds é onde parte do ouro desse game se encontra.

    Por fim, não falei nem 25% de tudo que esse jogo apresenta, a única coisa que eu posso falar é que se você ainda não jogou Persona 5 pode ir sem medo, principalmente em sua versão Royal, apesar do que eu não gostei pesar no que eu procuro em um jogo nesse tipo, são apenas gotas em um oceano de Masterpiece de jogo.

    I don't know what to say except that it's almost a perfect game. The feels... The feels!! Endearing characters and moments that you will not be able to get out of your head, outstanding music and plot and a lot of interesting mechanics. The Persona games are the true evolution of jrpgs!

    Everything about this game surpassed everything about every RPG I've ever played. The music, the story, and the combat were amazing. The 100 hours I spent on my playthrough of this were the best 100 hours I've ever spent gaming.

    My fav game in the last 15 years. Every Persona entry is worth playing - specially P3 and P4. But P5 gets everything right: fun gameplay, great story, incredible characters (Morgana is one of my fav characters ever), lovely soundtrack... but this is not a game for everyone. If you don’t like enourmous conversations, scenes and etc you may eventually get bored, since a great piece of thisMy fav game in the last 15 years.     best JRPG I have ever played. the turn-based combat is excellent best sounds track of any video game ever. a must-play, the persona series is great but 5 takes it to new heights. any flaws this game might have are minor compared to its overall excellence. It has tons of gameplay taking 100 hours roughly to complete and over 120 to do everything the game has to offer.

    Persona 5 is the single best game I ever played.
    The turn-based gameplay is amazing and never gets old due to its fun mechanics and visuals. The art style is outstanding and among the best I saw in a video game. The dungeon (palace) design is great and the music is truly a masterpiece.
    totally worth the 300+ hours I spend playing this game.

    After 100 hours of playing P5, it's safe to say, it successfully captured my heart. Spending this much time with the characters means you get attached to them on an emotional level. Finishing this game left me wanting for more.

    Die Story und die Charaktere sind gut geschrieben.
    Das Gameplay in und auserhalb eines Palastes sind gut umgesetzt.
    Durch seine verschiedenen möglichkeiten mit anderen Charakteren zu interagieren ist der wiederspielwert auch nach dem durchspielen gegeben. Es macht seine Sache mit den Personas echt gut die verschiedenen Kombinationen die man beim erschaffen dieser bekommen kann sind sehr vielseitig.
    Der schwierigskeitsgrad ist auch recht Knackig man muss unteranderem schon recht taktisch seine Resourcen verwalten.
    Im großen und ganzen ein Toptitiel den man unbedingt als Jrpg-Fan gespielt haben sollte.    … Expand

    The Game takes the JRPG genre and gives it a whole new twists with a clever system to have a focus on Tactics and Stealth. I was drown to the game from Joker being playable at Super Smash Bros Ultimate, after a while i was finally convinced to give the game a shot. That leap of faith made me fall in love with the character and game all in one fell swoop. 100 Hours worth the playtime everyThe Game takes the JRPG genre and gives it a whole new twists with a clever system to have a focus on Tactics and Stealth. That leap of faith made me fall in love with the character and game all in one fell swoop. 100 Hours worth the playtime every minute of gameplay i offered to give. Along with that the offer of bonding with the characters both main and side allows multiple playthroughs and opportunities to make each experience different and unique along with having detailed backstories for each character. My only gripe with the game is that sometimes once after you finish changing the heart of your target it becomes a sorta slow since most would finish the dungeon at a fast pace. But other then that the game, soundtrack, enemies and bosses make this a playthrough you want to enjoy. This is on my highly recommendation list. Also to anyone seeing this please look at the 0 review referring to the pervert character. Apparently he was offended by that one character that lead to him not finishing the game, I'll ask someone from meta to take that down as that's a review bomb.… Expand

    My first venture into the massive world of JRPGs. I can't believe what I've been missing. This game is an absolute masterpiece of mechanics and story building. I was almost overwhelmed by how much there was to do to further enhance the story. I plan on playing through again and that's a rare thing for me to say.

    This is honestly one of the best games I’ve ever played.
    The writing is awesome and you get so attached to the characters (especially best girl Futaba) that you really care about them and what happens to them during the story.

    As someone who has played P5 multiple times to 100%, I think I am qualified to say, that this game is a amazing. The story isn't spectacular, but it perfectly fits with the gameplay. The battle system never gets old, the characters are wonderful, and the calendar mechanic has me reflecting on all my life decisions. For sure, a must play.

    This is my first Persona game, but as a big fan of the mainline SMT games I felt right at home with the excellent turn based combat, the unique to Persona parts surprised me and this game became an obsession for me, this was one of the rare games where I just didn't want it to end. This is a masterpiece, an example of the JRPG genre at it best!

    This game is basically flawless and a better Persona 4. There are plenty of interesting characters, beautiful cut scenes, good voice acting, fun RPG elements, and lots of content, this game easily takes hundreds of hours to do most of what's in it.

    Story: The story centers around a group of high schoolers that get a mysterious app on their phones that allows them to enter another world. When they get to this world, they find out that they have a power called a persona that comes from their rebellious self. In this world, they are able to beat dark desires out of people they deemed to be evil. Once finished, the person will confess their crimes in the real world and get sent to jail. It sounds like a simple premise but it gets more complex as the game continues. You meet new people to join your group or you meet interesting and relatable side character that don't even know what you are doing in the other world. Throughout the story, you level up your bonds with these characters, making each one unforgettable. This makes for an amazing story with a large cast of characters that are memorable and that is impressive due to the large cast. You will be entertained from start to finish, just don't rush through the 100-hour story because you are bound to get bored if your only goal is the finish line.

    Gameplay: The turn based combat is simple but complex. There are 10 different elements are used when you use an attack from your persona. Your enemy will be weak to one element but depending on what persona you have out, you will be weak to one attack as well. If you hit a weakness, you get one more turn with your character, or your enemy will get one more turn if he attacks you with a weakness shot. To upgrade personas, you can fuse them together or make your bonds closer with your friends by hanging out with them on your days off. On top of your personas, you will have your gun and your basic attack. In the real world, you can upgrade these by buying toy guns and weapons in the real world. They become real in the distorted world. All of this mixes together to make a flawless gameplay experience.

    Technicals: The visuals are amazing and stylized. There is so much uniqueness in this game. Even the UI and menu look amazing and don't get me started on the gameplay visuals like the all out attack (which you can see below). The game runs at a smooth 60fps, no graphical glitches and this game has NEVER BEEN PATCH. That is a miracle is this day in age of gaming and should be commended for it. An amazing soundtrack that gets you in the mood for battle or in the mood to take it easy with your friends (Depending on what you are doing in the game.) This game is a technical marvel and more RPG should look at this game to be their new standard.

    Conclusion: If you own a PS3 or PS4, this is a must game buy for most people. Some might be put off by too much story, but if you are able to become attached to the characters and you love turn-based combat, you will love this game. It looks great, it plays great, and it sounds great. Set 100+ hours aside and play what I might consider Game of the Year 2017, if nothing else comes along to dethrone it.    … Expand

    The artwork for Persona 5 is stunning. Amazing detail was added to even the smallest aspect of the game such as the in-game menus. Persona 5 really shows that games don't need to be realistic in artstyle to shine, and it really gives it charm.

    As far as the music, you must listen to it. Seriously. Acid Jazz really gets you into the vibes of the game, from the slow paced songs of the average day to the upbeat and amazing battle music (Especially when on the last day of a Palace, just me).

    If you enjoy any sort of RPG, you will probably enjoy Persona. As mentioned in the other reviews, it is a JRPG which means the battles are turn-based; perfect for any strategic thinker. Don't let the strategy turn you away though, Persona 5 comes with many aids to help out your battle plans and make it easier for anyone that does not want to finely control the battle experience.

    P5 has some very minor faults though, I did feel the dialogue and conversations were too long and even repetitive at times throughout the whole game and the stealth and cover system is quite clunky at times.

    Definetly the best JRPG I played ever and one of the best original soundtracks I've ever heard on a game. When it finished, I went straight to new game plus with an empty feeling in my heart. I really wanted more of the Phantom Thieves.

    I know, I know, Breath of The Wild was awesome, but this one here is the game of the year in my heart. I've even named my newest male cat Morgana!

    One of the best RPG games that altered my life's schedules. When I thought about this game while doing something else, the combat mode seemed a bit repetitive, but somehow, the combat doesn't disappoint. It's not just about turn-based combat though. It's also about making the best decisions in your RPG grind and a thoughtful story with character development.

    This delivery takes the formula of Persona to the maximum, after having played Persona 3 and 4, in this I can say that it does not fall short in any aspect, it is the Persona game that I always wanted to play.

    This game was absolutely amazing. Graphically it is beautiful, the sound and music are top notch and the story itself was deep and engaging. This may be the best RPG to hit the world in a very long time. If you at all enjoy the JRPG genre this game is a must own and is as close to flawless as a game can be.

Though unlike Persona 3 and 4, there isn't a lot of memorable events in the game. The school trips, holidays, and school breaks doesn't take a break from the story. The protagonists either talk about their next target or whatnot where in past games actually gives time for some funny and memorable moments which I believe is a crucial part of Persona. Other than that, the story is fantastic as it tackles with corruption, sexism, etc. and is definitely has a more serious tone than past games. Overall, its an excellent game and is a must buy for anyone who loved RPGs, emotional drama, and has all the time in the world because this is a LONG game.… Expand

Before Persona 5 I had never played a persona game so i wont be able to make comparisons. But let me tell you one thing, persona 5 is a blessing and well worth the delays that people had to endure.

    Persona 5 takes place in japan and revolves around the protagonist who you can name yourself but he is referred to as Ren or Akira. I will refer to him as Akira for this review. The main plot of persona 5 is complex and hard to describe but easy enough to understand in game. Akira witnesses a woman being abused in the streets and steps in to help but is convicted of assault himself and placed on probation in tokyo with a distant relative. During a dream the following night his soul ascends into a world between dream and reality and he is told that to save his future and the whole of Japan from ruin he must reform society as a trickster. This is where the fun begins. The game revolves around Akira heading into places called "palaces". There is an alternate dimension named the metaverse which is where evil peoples visions come to reality. Only tricksters and persona users can enter this place. To reform evil people you must traverse the palace completing objectives and stealing the treasure or source of the evil desire. In persona 5 you live a double life, in the day you are a regular high school student, studying and wandering Tokyo in your everyday life, at night a phantom thief stealing the hearts of villains. In persona 5 you will gather a crew of people who have really creative designs. Ryuji is a rebellious troublemaker, Anne is a model, Yusuke an artist. The personalities go on but they gel incredibly. As a trickster or a persona user, just like how evil cognitions form in the metaverse, your personality takes a materialised form and you will use this to battle enemy personas or "shadows". The battle system is really like no other and is a turn based fighting style, you will have four teammates at any given time and you will take turns either using a gun, primary fire, or a persona move, using persona moves that an enemy is weak to will knock them down leading you on to endless possibilities in the fights. The battle system is the only battle system I have never gotten bored of so you know it's insane. Each palace takes a good 5-10 hours on average to complete each taking different designs and puzzles which adds a great sense of variety. Also the voice acting, persona 5 is one of the few games that actually has a good english dubs, no voice seems out of place and it fits. In the real world you have 5 abiltiies if you like, proficiency, knowledge, kindness, charm and guts. increasing these abilities will unlock new confidants and abilities to use in the metaverse. Confidants are people you have a bond with, hanging out with them in the daytime will increase your bonds and occasionally will give you new items or abilities to help in battle so make sure you hang out with as many as possible. My only problem was the hanging out with one person moves time on really fast, a simple activity such as reading will occupy half of the day meaning you will be rushing to get every confidant maxed out as the game really pushes you on as each day (as the game is mapped with a calender) is set with specific events. Persona 5 has the most plot twists i have ever seen and some events made me cry, laugh and smile with pure joy, the game really toys with your heart to the point that I was actually really upset when it ended. Some plot twists were jaw dropping others were predictable but fun all the same. The game does start slow however, the first hour of this 160 hour game (for me) was really vague, to any new persona player the first hour will be utterly confusing. Past players may have an idea of whats happening but new ones will be completely in the dark. Luckily after that first hour everything gets somewhat explained and new players will enjoy a smooth story game which is fun for everyone.

    Another Amazing point is the soundtrack. All tracks seem very similar in style but all pack an amazing punch, the musical element really makes the game such as "life will change" and "last surprise"

    The game offers a side quest mode too, Mementos, mementos is the palace of the general public where you will fight enemy shadows at peoples request, at the end of the game due to it being story driven and story only all side quests you want to do MUST be complete by the end of the game.

    Positives:

    -bubbly characters
    -good va
    -unique and enjoyable battle system
    -fun everyday activities
    -mesmerising soundtrack

    Small cons:
    -slow at start for new players

This game was hard to find in stores as it's not your typical Westernized game. If you like JRPG's, this is a gem. Fantastic story which you will love, cry and gasp to. The dungeons are a hell of a lot of fun and the characters are so well developed. You can download the Japanese voice-overs (highly recommend, the English ones suck).
    The only downside I found is that the game has a lot of dialogue, which can get a bit time consuming, but it's worth it with it's complex story. Be prepared for at least 100 hours worth of solid game-play. You're in for a treat. Well worth paying full price for this game.    … Expand

There are a plethora of activities and methods to develop your character, yet most of the time you are conscripted into story-based activities. Each day has a cycle, yet this can be skipped entirely because of a story event. Finally when you are given some space when there is an upcoming boss, you are further restricted and pressurised by having a limited amount of time to level up, forcing you to choose specific skills, attributes and equipment develop. This really railroads the entire experience.

    Related to the pace are the cutscenes. You are constantly pressing X in order to advance each conversation, a monotonous task in itself.

    Wow. This game was absolutely amazing. The story, the gameplay, the art, the characters, the music, everything about Persona 5 is excellent. I extremely recommend this game for how unique and different it is from all the other games. Absolute masterpiece.

    If you love JRPGs and you enjoy a very long story that is both interesting and has amazing and well developed characters that you feel are your actual friends and a turn base system that is like the FF games. Please buy this, this game is a gem and well deserves your time. it may start off a little slow but i guarantee you this game soars to amazing heights, especially since it has gone down in price. just make sure you have alot of time on your hands as the game is very long and will take up alot of your time and i do not mean that in a bad sense.

    i am new to the franchise and i will say that after playing P5 i will be getting the next instalment to the franchise without thinking.

    Persona 5 is a miracle video game, it builds on strong foundations that make each aspect superior to most entertainment nowadays and is packed with things to do

    YOUR STORY: The balancing between your student life and 'Phantom Thievery' is masterful, each day (which are short) gives you the choice of living it however you want: by hanging out with your friends, working, studying or whatever you could imagine as a young student in Tokyo. And the feeling of having to make a name for yourself and your social life in school is great and when you level up a stat, it feels as satisfying as the combat does. The story is excellent and again, is built in such strong foundations that it never fails to impress.

    THE COMBAT ROCKS: Turn-based combat is not a sweet spot for me, only a few games and RPGs have actually made this type of fighting feel fun and engaging. Persona 5 is one of these rare games with it's amazingly styled turn based combat which feels fast paced and again, satisfying.

    THE STYLE AND MUSIC: Holy. **** The music in this game is out of this world, not even a film should have this great a score. It's jazzy feel makes gameplay more smooth and the intro sometimes just makes me want to dance. The highschool notebook, 'in your face' graphic style is nailed with menus that are cleverly styled and designed for player accessibility.

    CONCLUSION: Persona 5 packs an outstanding amount of content which I applaud. This may be my favorite RPG of all time and I certainly won't forget the incredible soundtrack, the relatable characters, the fun combat, and the hundred hours I spent in this awesome world. This is not only an essential game, but an essential experience.

    This is an EXTREMELY long game. If you have time and you want a bang for your buck, then this game is what you are looking for. This game is designed very well, it has this comic art style that is consistent in every part of the game (ex: menu system, battle system, etc). The first couple of dungeons were engaging, but mid-game it started to get repetitive and gruelling. The underground subway side dungeon was extremely frustrating, I absolutely dreaded going through it, because save points are far and few in between. Punishment for dying or not being able to sit there for hours on end playing is being pushed back down 5-10 floors and start the trek up all over again...The music is my favourite part in this game. It is absolutely addicting, upbeat and vibrant, I was totally jamming to it while playing. The story is not bad, but not memorable. It definitely doesn't live up to the previous Personas. If you are going to get this game, I would say put aside a lot of time and patience for it.… Expand

    Persona 5 is an absolutely amazing game that convinces with its art style, music and story. It has anything one could ask for such a game and more. The turn-based battle system offers a wide array of opportunities. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely recommended to give it a go.
