A fun RPG that keeps the action and story interesting enough that you'll want to keep coming back for more. Well worth the price tag, too, those who purchase are in for a long journey.

It's not quite the evolution to the series that was expected. I still love the game, but there isn't anything here that hasn't been done before (and already done better).

I initially wanted to give this an 8, but I bumped it up to a 9 because the presentation, aesthetic, and execution is off the charts. The game may cover overly familiar territory, but it's still clear that it was all crafted with an extreme amount of care. Its a very, very well made game. That counts for a lot in my book.

However, Persona 5 rekindled my spirits in playing video games as I realized just how fun and immersive they could be. Persona 5's plot kept me hooked for the entire game, and I managed to get past the long intro to get the actual meat of the game, which was absolutely worth it. Persona 5 improves the battles from the previous entries, proving just how turn based RPG's are still amazing and not "dead" (according to one JRPG company). And don't get me started on Persona 5's amazing music that kept me exited for whatever track was next. The only true flaw with the music was that there was not enough of it, as the same battle theme plays for the hundreds of hours of battles you will be doing unless you buy the DLC. I enjoyed this game so much nonetheless, and now I truly want to play video games again due to the fact that Persona 5 has truly changed my heart.

Well to be honest the first 10 hours I did not understand why everyone was so hyped about this game, it was OK/good and I had to adjust to the style. After 20-30 hours I started to really like the story and characters. This was a very slow start but after seeing the ending at 103 hours I was sad this journey ended with all these lovable characters. I have to compain though about the length of the game. I think I would have liked the game more of they would have shortened every of those long ass dungeons by maybe one hour each. Traveling down to Mementos was also quite boring. I think they should have fit that game into 60 hours and made all other stuff post game content. I also didn't really like this forced linear time management at first. I think it shoul have been possible to use more time on a single day....that was annoying sometimes. On the other hand the fighting system is very very good and the style together with most of it's OST is also very good. The graphics are just OK to be hones. This game is certainly a niche game and I can understand if a lot of people don't like it but if you are into JRPG or you carry an affinity to japanese stuff this is for you. And it's one of the best PS4 games of you look at it objectively, though personally I liked Nier Automata more (GOTY !!) . Currently I am into Zelda somewhere and that order my change. But right now not.

Maybe the best JRPG ever, and maybe the most stylistic game ever as well. The game is well paced and fun for the entire 100+ hour playthrough, which is astonishing. Takes one of the most beloved and iconic JRPG series and improves upon it in every way. Alternates between your high school / social experience and going into dungeons. Quirky, amazing, and a game everyone should experience.

    1. Really long stretches of story telling. I like me a game with a good story, but sometimes it feels that the story drives on for - what feels like - an hour before you can do much more than click through the dialogue.
    2. Save spots are either placed too close or too far apart. In the dungeons (called palaces in this game) the user can only save in designated areas. These are just not well spaced. Which would maybe not be a problem if it wasn't for...
    3. The moment your main character is defeated in battle it's Game Over. I feel this is a bad mechanic for any RPG where you control a party and reviving characters is possible. It might not be as big an inconvenience if this wouldn't set you back so much in the game, since the saving areas are so far apart.

There are other things which are demanding and obviously this is not a game for casual playing but while I whole-heartedly can recommend a lot of other games I feel like such a great title should have these things smoothed out.

Atlus brings us another installment in the Persona series, this being my first time playing in the history of the franchise, should this prevail justice or should it have just stayed in Momentos? let's find out.

In Persona 5 you play as a high school boy who has just been transferred to Shujin Academy in Tokyo, forced to leave his home after being put on probation for being framed for assault of which he did not commit. Your character stays with a guardian by the name of Sojiro, and upon arriving there you realize there is a strange looking eye app on your phone and you delete it and unfortunately, it keeps popping up on your phone. When you arrive at Shujin Academy you are pretty much the most hated student there because of your criminal past, it isn't until the second or third day you meet Ryuji and Morgana; you are on your way to school and somehow the eye app on your phone activates itself taking you to another world where people who need a change of heart are showing their distorted desires and showing what they think is rightfully theirs, in this case, a palace so your job is to go through the palaces and steal their treasures to change their hearts. After the first occurrence, Morgana explains to you how you are a phantom thief, someone who can go to another world and change the hearts of others, but it is a little more complicated than that in this case, you have to find your next target whether it be a big time crime boss, politician, teacher or hacker; find out where their palace is, invade it, find the treasure, send the calling card, fight this person in order to steal their treasure and this will change their heart. As you progress through the game you will find more companions to go through the palaces with you, Seven others if I am not mistaken.

The Gameplay in Persona 5 is nothing like I have ever seen before when you are in the palaces you use stealth a lot to ambush your enemies, once you get into a battle it is turn based. This Persona is a bit different from what I have heard you can not grind in 5 as much as you could in others which is unfortunate especially when you want to level up; not only do you level up but your companions do as well and your personas. When you are not out changing the hearts of authority figures you are living your life like a normal high schooler, studying, hanging out with friends, holding down a job, having relationships, taking school tests and exam, and so much more. As you progress through the game you will see your relationships increase with your friends and others which give your perks in and out of the castles.

Persona 5 was one of those games if I was not playing it I was thinking about it or talking about it, a great game that really brought me into the love of the JRPG world.

    Persona 5: 9.5/10

never heard of them, I just didn't pay attention. Then I saw the
trailer for this game and the stylish, animated segments and I knew I
had to play this and was not disappointed.

    GAMEPLAY:

The game is a combination of a traditional RPG and social simulator.
Half-the time you're fighting monsters and the other half is spending
time with people, working, studying etc.

Doing everyday things doesn't sound fun in theory, but you soon become
immersed in this world. All the characters you meet are interesting and
you can see twelve people's personal stories unfurl. The world is
varied with many things to do and places to visit. All these tasks will
help either get more money, increase your statistics, or unlock new
    fighting abilities.

The big frustration about the real world stuff is you won't have
enough time to do everything. The game is on a strict schedule and you're
expected to complete levels by certain dates. There is a + game that
carries over your weapons, Personas, etc., which make things easier.
However, considering that it almost took me a hundred hours to finish,
you probably wouldn't want to replay anytime soon.

I also find an aspect of the dating option uncomfortable. You're a high
school student, but you can date three adults. Kind of creepy.

The RPG section is fun, but can be a bit aggravating. I like that the
game keeps to old-school turn-based combat. It kind of combines Final
Fantasy and Pokemon. It has some interesting things I haven't seen
before. Instead of merely defeating villains, you can also negotiate
with enemies for the money, items, or for you to join them.

The levels are all unique taking place in different formats, such as a
castle, a museum, a bank, etc. They all offer unique aspects in their
design. It's not just the same corridors.

I commend the game for requiring more strategy than some RPGs. But fighting
can be frustrating. There is a lot of level grinding in this. A lot.
Difficulty can be inconsistent, foes can go from easy to hard at the
drop of a hat. Though once you've leveled enough, things get fairly
easy. The most difficult parts are the first level when you don't have
much a chance of leveling up and the space level where the majority of
villains are immune to physical attacks. (Plus the level is a bit of a
slog in general. Prepare for some frustration.)

    GRAPHICS:

The game looks great. It has an anime style to it as well as a lot of
anime cut-scenes. It has this very stylish look to this. The monsters are all designed after mythological/religious beings and are both bizarre and impressive. The dungeon levels stand out as some of the most unique I've seen. They take place in the subconscious and have this fantastic quality to them. They also throw you in the deep end with this. Needed more in-depth tutorials. SOUND: This game has an acid jazz soundtrack and it sounds pretty cool and high-energy throughout. PLOT: Characters are strong. The theme of the story is them fighting corruption. Things get progressively tense as the threat rises and the plot points seem earned. Though a long game (the final bit really stretches out), they at least make your struggle worth it. (Unlike Ni No Kuni for instance). There a lot of animated cut-scenes and the ending is suitably robust. Persona 5 is a cinematic, immersive experience that I recommend.

It's about time the Western RPG gets erased from time, and this is the game to blow it into Oblivion. Thinking of the dominance Bethesda once had in the RPG market makes me quite sick to my stomach. I gave the game a closer look and this rarely ever happens with me but I was a little off beat. The talking cat lady thingy sold me and the story isn't trash. So now I give this game a 8 or a 9. Some where around there. It's a good one. The replay value is worth your money and the crazy art direction makes it stand out. It's worth your money : )

Like I said though. I'm not a big fan of these types of games but you know what? You got to give credit where it's due... I'm not a big fan of basket ball for example but Tim Duncan is a pretty good player.

Also... This company doesn't have a reputation of screwing over it's franchise and fanbase. I did some research and Atlus is not EA, Microsoft, Activision, or Ubisoft. They don't suck nearly as much balls as those companies do. Atlus even helped get games like Demon souls to Americans. I support these guys in the gaming industry 100% even if it seems like they are really into Japanese anime to the point where they probably snort sushi like crack cocaine.

Honestly i don't think there's a fault in the game.

Just hoping Sony decide to port previous Persona titles to the PS4 :)

Fantastic game. It's very polished and makes turn-based game play more fun that most action rpgs. The cast of characters is very diverse and it takes mundane daily activities and makes them great game play modes. Only gripe it that I wish there was more.

This game is a must-play. It's kept me preoccupied for whole days due to its engrossing story. Yet such an addictive game doesn't feel repetitive one bit. I suspect that Atlus has concocted a brilliant mix of gaming elements to prevent this game from turning dull.

If you're concerned about time spent on this game, don't worry though. You can skip entire dialogues though it's not recommended because the game is extremely dialogue heavy.

Lastly this game world is huge compared to Persona 4's Inaba. They've taken full advantage of real life Tokyo and brought it into this game. Sweet! There's a ton of great things to be said about this game. The sheer brilliance of this game is truly amazing. Must I say more? Just play this game so you can experience this masterpiece for yourself! It's totally genius!

Everyone on the internet talks about Persona 5 like it’s the greatest thing to ever hit consoles..
and while this is a great game.. don’t quite believe the hype..
In Persona 5 you play a highschool stuident that gets framed for assult when he defends a woman from an abusive man, hes on probation and under watch while he attends highschool…
youre the new kid in school with a bad boy reputation… here you meet some friends that are dealing with a horribly abusive gym teacher…
and coincidentally enough you find a strange app on your phone and it takes you to some crazy castle that you learn is actually how this teacher perceives the school.
youre in his palace… this palace is crawling with creatures known as shadows that keep its treasure guarded..
that treasure being the targets heart..
youre here to change it and make them confess their wrong doings..
there are 8 palaces total in this game if you count mementos which is a grinding area that you can eventually visit any time…
and as you progress the game new members will slowly join your party
each of you has your own persona which is basically like a pokemon…
you have to make your way through these maze like palaces in search for your treasure and not get caught by these shadows..
if your meter reaches 100% and your target is aware of your presense its game over.. so its important to stealth around and attack from behind.. especially at the risk of losing hours of progress as the dungeons can be multiple hours long
but there are save rooms in these dungeons just incase that you can fast travel to and from if you need a break or need to head back to the real world and stock up on more items…
and again like pokemon this is turn based and each persona has strengths, weaknesses, and special moves you can use during battle that they learn as you level up..
and your main character can even catch these shadows if you hit them with a weakness or weaken them to a point that they give up.. you then have to talk to them and tell them what they want to hear to remind them that they are personas as well…
you can then take your captured personas and use them in battle, freely switch them in and out to find your enemies weakness.. or even combine them for new and more powerful personas up to your current level…
the combat system here is actually nothing that special at all.. its flashy and cool at first.. but it gets dull pretty quickly..
thankfully youre able to fast forward battle to make your party do basic physical attacks to not waste your sp which is used to pull off moves from your personas
and each palace does end in a boss battle…
but this dungeon crawling and persona battles isn’t all this game is about.. if it were persona 5 wouldn’t be special at all…
its this with whats outside of these dungeons that makes this game so great..
youre living life as a school kid..
youre paying attention in class answering questions, youre studying and reading books to boost your stats, youre getting part time jobs for cash to spend on weapons and gear, increasing your kindness, and going to the bathhouse for more charm,
but youre also meeting up with your teammates, going on dates, helping characters out to boost your bond which in turn boosts their terrot card stats to give you perks back in the metaverse
it’s the balance of all of these things that make persona 5 a great game…
none of these parts on their own are any great at all..
I felt the story lost steam after the komoshida arch as he was a such a perfect villain…
    I legitimately hated him
it starts to pick up again towards the middle of this 100 hour journey…
but it doesn’t reach the height of this games first 10 hours…
and the dungeons were never really fun and I grew bored of the combat after around 20 hours…
it’s the back and forth of managing your time with the right activities and people that keep you hooked…
Persona 5 I still believe isn’t as great as everyone makes it out to be…
im not even really sure the type of player to recommend this to..
the jrpg and social aspects mixed together make this game really special and something more than just a turn based combat game…
    I give Persona 5
    an 8.5/10

While a little overrated, this game has a good sense of what it is trying to be. Essentially, this game is an anime, though with a significant amount of player involvement. The design of many of the areas of the game suboptimal, and sometimes poorly behaved, but it keeps pretty well to its style, and the fundamentals work pretty well.

The game makes you really feel like you are within the game itself, living out your daily life inside this fantasy world from doing menial tasks such as catching the train, eating, and cleaning your room. Persona 5 goes a step further by making you feel like you are living within an anime TV show - one that could feel a bit wacky at first, but really delves into character development, and heavy themes such as physical abuse, the consequences of rumours, and sexual immorality - all backed by an amazing jazz inspired soundtrack.

The JRPG element is also refined with added concepts of range weapons, a stealth factor, and overall crisp animation movements, but keep in mind that even though the game is classed as a JRPG, it is not even the core bulk of the Persona franchise.

If there were a few things that irked me a little was that movement and character interaction inputs within the game sometimes didn't feel as smooth as it could, but overall an improvement over an already established masterpiece in Persona 4.

Where 5 really feels lack luster is it trying to copy it's narrative of 4. Where 4 gave character motivations and showed how how each character was ashamed of part of who they are, while persona 5 has character get their persona by getting mad or fed up with something. The other problem is how the dungeon bosses have little to no personality to other being the most evil person alive with no redeemable qualities. But where persona 5 does shine is in it's game play the mechanics have been fine tuned and combat feels faster and more fun. Dungeon design is much more interesting with each dungeon feeling different from the last. While the game is easier making it better for newcomers to hop into the series it takes away some of the charm by doing so. This game hands out social links like candy, while other games you had to find them this one makes it easier to find and pretty noticeable to who will be a social link. This game is a good JRPG but a bad persona game, you play RPG's for the story and with a story as weak as this it's hard to say if it's worth playing, What makes this game above average is the gameplay, but if you don't care for gameplay then Persona 4 or 3 would be the better choice, but if it's important then this one over the other two. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the best JRPG of 2017, unless you want to count FFXV as a 2017 release. There are few things in Persona 5 that I didn't necessarily hate, but they were kind of disappointing. Pros and Cons listed below:

    Pros-

The characters in this game, mainly your playable characters are all designed very thoroughly and actually do have depth unlike many JRPGs in the past. Some of the them remind you of close friends and family and by building your confidant relationship with them, you get to dig deeper into them in their own side stories. Persona 5 was meant to have just as much realism as any typical Japanese student's life today, and by playing, you the player will choose who your best friends and family are and not only what you say in every social situation.

Music is definitely some of the best in an RPG, and many things in the game teach you about Japanese culture.

Battle System and Personas in this game are also very complex and help the player learn and grow. Fusing personas is fun and rewarding and you have types on top of types of persona (similar to Pokemon) that aid you in your fight. You can also use fire arms to exploit weaknesses and cause hold ups.

The Plot of the game takes quite a while to get started but once it does, it becomes quite interesting and exciting, the Phantom Thieves go through many struggles and overcome obstacles in their own private spots to gain the favor of the general public time and time again, so not only do they have their "Power Rangers" style during the metaverse but they also use knowledge and wit in real life. There are also some of the best plot twists in a JRPG that rival past installments.

    Cons-

The Game is simply too long and that does not mix very well with the battle system at all. Thinking as a developer, I would want my game to be quite lengthy but there does exist a balance between how long a game the fans want it to be and how long it should be. JRPGs are known to be quite long to begin with but Persona 5 could very well take 200 full hours of play time to finish.

Battle System yet again is not bad, there are guns, there are Personas and there are regular attacks as well and all your other basic RPG fundamentals. However, with how long this game actually is, Personas start to dominate the battle system by a lot to the point where they completely take over. Hold Ups are really cool and all but do I really have to see the same Victory pose art of each character over and over? The fights are very likely to become way too repetitive and you'll find yourself ending each one with: Persona, Weakness, Hold up, Victory Art, done. There could have been other ways to finish a fight other than a Hold Up into all out attack. Maybe Special attacks could have been present and made the system even more unique.

The weakest part of this game are enemies and bosses. The enemies are your Personas so thats understandable seeing as how there is a taming aspect to this game with rules and limitations. But the bosses and mini bosses (Mementos Requests) are a pathetic excuse (Incoming Tales Bosses). They're absolutely horrible: A piggy bank boss, A painting boss? As soon as you see these two, you will guess what the next ones will be because of the Person's Palace. If that's not the worst part, one of them is literally a bunch of the same enemies until he runs out of enemies to use and loses because of it. Pretty much, bosses were probably fillers which is very disappointing.

To sum up, for the most part it's a great game but it looks as though more should have went to the fights and bosses and there probably wasn't enough time for that.

+ Combat is a ton of fun, which builds upon past Persona games with the Baton pass and guns. Things get mixed up during boss fights as well (it reminded me of Trigger Commands from FFX, but executed much better).
+ Demon negotiation is also back, which will be a hit or miss for some people since the responses you need to select may appear random. I ended up liking it though, and it's a great feeling when you force a powerful shadow to cough up money and run away instead. Running away yourself isn't the only option anymore.
+ Dungeons are a huge step up from the hallways of Persona 3/4 (however if you liked this, it's back in the form of a huge dungeon called Mementos). The level design of these dungeons are nothing to brag over and don't do anything new, but it makes up for it with style and atmosphere.
+ Tokyo is filled with things to do and discover to the point where it's almost overwhelming. And the "Confidant" system is a pretty good evolution over "Social Links" of previous games.
+ Soundtrack and visual style is top notch, as expected.

    Cons:

    - There are a couple very convenient story coincidences and revelations. They sorta came out of left field. I found myself raising my eyebrows maybe one too many times.
    - A little too much..."Talking", I guess? For example, in the Velvet room, I don't need the attendants commenting on every menu option I press or every Persona I check out. Also, the protagonist says something every time I use my Third Eye (which is kinda like Batman vision). It's can get annoying and grating.
    - A few too many textures look quite poor, even by PS3 standards.

Overall: Persona 5 is incredible, plain and simple. Between the style, combat, and the story, there is so much to love about this game. This is a must play, so make sure it doesn't fly under your radar.

My mind kinda goes blank when it comes to explain what is so good with this game, but i will try and add an unexpected remark at the end about a particular observation i have made concerning people reception of this game.

First, whether you like JRPG or not, you should really try to understand what kind of experience this game gives you.

The Artistic direction is probably the best i have ever seen in a game, the menu, loadings times, everything is done in style, and it really gives a relaxing experience while playing the game.

The music is really catchy, really good, and you will find yourself being excited to engage in battle just to hear it more, and even let your playstation on just to hear something from the game.

The story of the game is really intriguing and pretty deep, persona game are known for devling into psychology and inspired by idea like the collective subconsciousness, that reflect realities and problem that exist in our real world. it's a fiction that really go deep into actual, real life situation, while adding the fantasy/anime/relationship aspect around it to create a really strong and compelling narrative.

Let's not talk about the how much time you will play this game: The main story is about 90-100 hours, which absolutely monstrous and so far i have never encountered a longer single player RPG in my whole life.

The gameplay? As far as Turn based can go, this is one of the best system, it's strategic, fun and dynamic. Every action is assigned to a button, there is no menu scrolling, no "button mashing to attack all the time", it's very clean and well designed

The game is very story based, a lots of dialogue, that stay interesting because they teach you more about the world, help you learn and form relationship with others, or gives you a subtile hint about the general story of the game.

The difficulty is for everyone, you have 5 difficulty setting, i don't need to tell you more about it, you want a challenge? you will find it. You are totally new to the serie and don't want to be overwhelmed and destroyed? There is something for you.

I am obviously biased in this review as we are all subjective being, but a collective positive reception should help you make a better decision.

I do have to note something also: Many people will claim that this game is very "niche", or only for the chosen few that like anime and JRPG, and i would disagree with this.
even presenting the story, the gameplay element to a variety of people got people interested, and especially people that are not at all into RPG, i don't think this serie is niche, i just think it's severely Undermarketed.
I do strongly believe there is a "universal appeal factor" that exist within this game(somewhere in the collective subconscious) and that it just await you to just give it a fair chance.

You've got your normal expected bits: off the mark teenage "foul language", saving the day with friendship, awkward moments in romantic encounters, and some really zany gameplay moments. What Persona 5 (and the series overall) adds to this genre is a flushed out and compelling story with interesting characters. The turned-based battle system is rare these days as most JRPGs localized in the west have gone the action-route. Some people find turned-based games dull, but this game will make you plan out and rethink your next moves.

The graphic style is lush, full of style and tweaks that are very pleasing to watch. The English voice acting is great (as far as they go) and you do have the option to use the original VO which is a nice addition. The gameplay is smooth, deep and will punish you for making mistakes.

This game is really a production. It's entertaining to play and watch. When I played P3, P4 and now P5 there has always been a non-gamer in the room that gets sucked into the story. For my outdoorsy friend to remember the Japanese names of characters, and to actually care to see what happens next is just as impressive as my girlfriend getting emotional at some plot twist. Story-wise this game ranks right up there with The Last of Us.

To enjoy this game you need to be able to let yourself slide into the weeby anime style a little bit, if you do you'll find a game that really goes beyond your expectations and past the tropes. If you are looking to realistic graphics, hate the anime style and generally dislike JRPGs - you'll likely be too distracted to enjoy the story. This game goes beyond the tropes, but it does not change them - keep this in mind if the high scores have made you interested, but you haven't enjoyed JRPGs in the past.

I was very skeptical at first because I'm really not into the wide eyed, hyper skinny anime style atlus is known for (I'm more into the cowboy bepop style of anime) but I got over that pretty quickly because the story and characters are so well done. I'm in love with the cast so far which is incredible because I was going to skip the game because I didn't like the way the main characters look. The combat is turned based which I thought would turn me off because I've been playing action RPG's only for so long, haven't played a turn based game since Final Fantasy X on PS2 but I was pleasantly surprised how much fun, satisfying and thought provoking Turn Base combat is. Persona 5 definitely changers it up however to make it more contemporary and flashier than most other turn based rpg's..Now my favorite part of this game so far has to be the motion graphics/graphic design.. from the menu screen and the battle system UI, its so incredible what they did with this because I get excited just from going through the menu screen. This game just has so much energy and I can't believe that in 2017 Japanese RPG's are making a comeback.

    - bland dialogue between characters
    - some characters are introduced too late to finish their social links or for them to fully have a character arc
    - cheesy story. i would be pretty indifferent to it but there is this one line which morgana says towards the end of the final boss which just completely changed my view on it. you know it when you hear it; its cringey af.
    - *slight spoiler about how something is not really that important but is made out to be*
the whole morgana running away part did not have the intended effect at all and just seemed like a cheap way to introduce Haru. felt really random and out of character for him.
    - game does take quite a while to take off honestly. personally i found the first few hours kind of boring
    - due to the sheer length of the game, its hard to revisit. personally i love short and concise games, and i find that i am much more likely to revisit them, even if there is no need to. as much as i would like to replay persona 5, i doubt i will for a very long time. i finished the game in around 80 hours, which is slightly quicker than the 100 that most people have said to have beat the game in, but even then 80 hours is not something i would want to throw away into a game i have already played. also i played this game a couple of years ago, this is all from memory. i really do not want to spend another 80 hours playing this, despite it being a good game.

Text conversations, that happen throughout the game, become a chore as every single character has to have something to say. What was initially a cool way of recapping the plot becomes streams of unnecessary text. The plot, which was building up to a grand finale with a well developed if shadowy antagonist, takes a left turn for the final few hours. The resulting battles are epic, but the story didn't build to any of it. It almost feels like the game ends and then there is DLC added. A big grievance, that I can see no reason for, is that still If the main character gets downed (which in high level areas can happen with a few lucky strikes from an enemy) it's game over, all other characters can be revived but no if you get unlucky you're losing what can be up to an hour of progress in certain areas.

I think Person 4 golden still stands as the series high water mark, the characters were more memorable, and the plot more personable. However Persona 5 is still a great game. If you have the time it is well worth exploring this world.

TL:DR Persona 5 is probably one of the best jRPG's since Ni No Kuni and possibly the best game I played in a while (with the exception of Witcher 3, which is a masterpiece). This is the type of a game that comes once, maybe twice in a console generation and a must have for any jRPG's lover. I won't give it a 10, but it's very damn near. 9.5/10 for sure.

    Pros:
    - Phenomenal music. This has got to be at the top of this list. The OST is simply amazing. It's one of those things that I'll remember for a long, long time. Just listen to the "Persona 5 OST - Price" on YouTube and feel the vibe.
    - Great story and memorable characters (mostly). I wouldn't call the writing superb, but when the game is as long as Persona 5 (100+ hours for one playthrough), the story has to be good to keep you entertained. The characters are mostly interesting with some minor exceptions.
    - Entertaining confidance system through which you strenghten the bonds with you fellow teammates and other characters that are important to the story. Every person has a backstory, which makes them even more interesting.
    - Great battle system. It looks a bit like Pokemon and plays a little like Pokemon, and... that's just fine! Gathering new Personas is both fun and challenging, especially if you're looking to get that final trophy for catching them all.
    - Around 100 hours of great content, although...

    Cons:
    - I feel like the game could have been a little shorter. I think 80 hours for one playthrough would have been just right. It would have been enough to explore the game in-depth, and at the same time the ending seems like a little bit of a drag.

    Go get it, guys!

The idea of playing as a student going to school, completing jobs and living a normal life during the day sounds very anti fun, but is thankfully executed very well and proves to an enjoyable experience. However the real stand out is at night, infiltrating dungeon like palaces that act as massive labyrinths for the player to explore and fight enemies. Combat isn't anything ground breaking, but neither is it bad. It is surprisingly tactical and will require some mental input from the player, especially when fighting the bosses. The best part of this game is the music and graphics. A jazzy and smooth soundtrack compliments the anime and shaded art style, providing a look and feel that will last the test of time. The battle system is amazing, making the turn-based gameplay as smooth and fast as possible. After playing this game, older persona games and other similar games feel clunky by comparison. The story is good, but I take a point off for it because it definitely has problems like “smart” characters who do some of the dumbest things in the series, plot holes, and characters and arcs that don’t really add anything to the story but we need to be realistic, with a game with this much story of course some of it won’t land and most of the story is totally enjoyable.

Seriously, if you like the genre and they system to play it on this is a must play.

Persona 5 is an absolutely amazing game that convinces with its art style, music and story. It has anything one could ask for such a game and more. The turn-based battle system offers a wide array of opportunities. While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it is definitely recommended to give it a go.
