As new updates came out though its hard to say that Epic games is going in the right direction. They can and should take a hard look at how1 Smite was developed or ask us the players how it can be improved as a moba even if they want to take a new direction to the moba.

    Pros
    1. Simple to get into most players can play get into it even faster i think than smite
    2. Design on graphics and details to map is great character design also
    3. easy to learn card system so easy that you don't even need to create or figure out what cards to use at the start as they disabled custom decks at first and allow you to use default starter decks
    4. you don't need to know the traditional moba roles to play

    Cons
    1. doesn't follow the rules of a traditional moba sadly could learn from smite and i sadly don't agree with how they have developed their characters with buffs or nerfs but it is a better moba than this
    2. short matches if your looking for something that doesn't take 2 hours then this is for you matches last between 30 to 60 mins
    3. very casual so casual it feels like Overwatch on a much bigger scale and with lanes, buffs and a jungle
    4. if the draft gets aborted you need to rejoin they should just put you back into a wait or connecting to new lobby
    5. reward boxes i understand that people want rewards but i don't understand the reward boxes for just if you win they should consider doing a daily log in reward

i would give this review higher but since its a very nontraditional moba its hard to judge this as a moba.

Despite the slow early game of trying to level up and gain money, the late game is a satisfying battle between powerful characters. The simple card mechanic, combined with a fair tutorial allows new players to join in with ease. Paragon doesn’t make you pay for characters despite having so many, which is a feature I quite enjoy. Although you don’t have all the characters unlocked immediately, you do gain a large number through the first few days of logging in. One thing I dislike is how long the masteries take to level up. The soundtrack was not memorable, throughout my gameplay I can’t say there was a single time the music really stood out. I had no Idea it was there half of the time. A more promising soundtrack could improve the gameplay experience. As of now there is only one map and one mode, this gets very old and boring over time. Overall I would recommend this game to all of my friends and I understand It is still In late beta, but these are my views on the game.

EPIC update paragon very regularly, with a new hero every three weeks and a recent revamp of the deck system completely, which has led to many more options within a match and to the system not being overly complicated. This game is one that isn’t officially released yet and could still fully change, however its current potential is very impressive.
It may be classed as a MOBA, but EPIC themselves have said how it has its own style to it, and its own variation of the genre. Paragon is one of the first games to truly embrace cross-platform gaming, this has meant that both players from PlayStation and those on PC can play together in not only the same game, but the same matches too. I myself have played the game on PS4, and I do not feel that those playing on PC have any advantage, due to the delicately tweaked assisted-aim that console players do receive.
Another key factor to EPIC’s potential success with paragon is the incredibly active community interaction, with a dedicated ‘episode’ by their community managers every week on the YouTube channel, they regularly have players in to talk about their experience or how they feel the game could be changed to improve it.
I find Paragon to be a game with a lot of potential due to the active updates it receives and the fantastic community management. However this does not mean that currently the game is not good, in its current state I feel the game could be considered ‘complete’ to some games developers, however EPIC are not finished with it yet, they are not going to just half-do this one. The game has many factors about it that are incredibly impressive, such as the aesthetics which really make sure that the glare levels, shadows and details are all at the most balanced levels, so that they fit with each other and do not look out of place, and this fits well with the gameplay of Paragon, which has not been held back by the visuals in any way, but enhanced the experience to be one that is not only visually impressive, but fun and addictive to play too.
EPIC are making sure that this game has regular updates, with the deck system recently being fully re-worked, new heroes added to the roster every three weeks, and updates in the visuals and maps often too. I feel that this is a highlight of the game to me, as it means I can keep trying out new ways to play the game due to the new heroes, and it means that new strategies can be thought of regularly, however it also means that balancing must be kept on top of, but I am yet to feel that it has been a problem, I feel that the new cards system could play a part in it, as it means that you don’t feel too weak at the start of a game, but you still feel progression in your hero throughout a match. I feel this is something that it does better than games like LOL and DOTA 2, however the form of game could almost be considered different due to the uniqueness of Paragon. I believe in general paragon is a game I prefer to both LOL and DOTA 2 as the persona around it is much less serious almost, but it is still incredibly competitive.
In conclusion I feel that EPIC have made a fantastic game with Paragon, and it is still only in open-beta, which means its current faults or glitches can still be fixed, and the game is not going to be limited to what it currently is, as regular updates will be received for a long time yet. Therefore I am giving Paragon by EPIC a 9/10, due to its fantastic gameplay, impressive graphics and its constant updates, however it does not have a 10/10 because the game is still in beta, and has been for almost a year now, and in some ways this limits the game to how many designated developers it may have, as well as preventing the competitive mode and possible expansion to Xbox.

The game is very unbalanced on v42. PS4 players fighting against PC players, Iggy doing quadra kill doing nothing on his ultimate, possible more than 10k damage, no wards available on all builds, low level players like me fighting against pre made high lvl groups, etc. Epic is terrible to fix unbalance, taking months to fix what everyone says obvious.

I'm a veteran MOBA player ranging from Newerth, Dota 2, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, Smite, Overwatch, and Mods on Starcraft 2.

I would say that Paragon takes inspiration from the basics of a Moba, meaning there are 3 lanes and resurrecting minions which you assist as a champion in destroying the opposite team's towers and main throne. Paragon seems to borrow ideas from many of the games which have all borrowed from the core game DOTA. Paragon doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table just yet, and I hope they are able to evolve to an identity before they finally pass their open beta phase.

    Pros:
    1) Graphics
    2) 3rd Person angles
    3) Cool character designs.

    Cons:
    1) No voices for characters ( just yet)
    2) Hardly any music in the matches, and the sound effects aren't that exciting (just yet). Music is the neglected child.
    3) The game feels too familiar to League of Legends but it isn't League of Legends, and should have it's own identity, instead of being just a "have you played that LOL type game?"
    4) You can't communicate with players via microphone. There are Paragon communities on PS4 that connect players through microphone. That basically gives those players a huge advantage in coordination over players who aren't in the PSN communities. Taking away communication isn't going to lower the flame it's just going to unbalance the games. Communication is part of the fun. You can use hot buttons to indicate what needs attention to other players but you can't coordinate detailed ganks or pushes with those hot buttons.
    5) I know it's still in BETA, but some of the champions are extremely over powered and so are some of the cards on those champs.
    6) The late game seems stale, and there's no climax... maybe it has something to do with the lack of music as well. You'd be amazed how much music can play a role in a player's subconscious. Same thing with the voices.

What I would like to see:
    1) Epic music during the matches (pun intended), and improved sound effects. Look at transformers to take inspiration of sound effects.
    2) Voices on the characters.
    3) A different approach to lane minions... they don't have to be exactly like all the other MOBAS, you can try to imagine something else. Maybe allowing players to pay for cards that effect lane minions or can change the type of lane minions during the game. Maybe even adding voices to the lane minions to make it feel like an even more robust environment. None of the Mobas give characterization to the lane minions, which have sacrificed millions of units for our cause.
    4) Improved indication of what kind of champion belongs in what lane. Right now it feels that everyone just picks random champs and lanes them all over the map. Support champs are the meta but they feel invisible.
    5) Being able to use 4 cards over 3 is preferable. The reason I say 4 is because I believe there should be a core concept to the cards. All players should have 1 type universal card on their deck which they all know is essential to starting the game, like how in other MOBA games players know that boots are an essential item to have. There can be different types of universal cards, but I think to make the card system seem more fun, 4 cards instead of 3 is important. All the decks should offer the universal cards. The other 3 cards will be for players to have unique decks and to give Paragon a more unique style from the other MOBAS. ( I know this part seems that it contradicts what I'm saying but it also helps support my opinion on how Paragon can find a stronger identity)
    6) Why does it have to be 3 lanes and minions going on a straight line?

I uninstalled Paragon because it brought back all the frustrating elements from LOL and Dota and added nothing new to the table. There's too many MOBA games on my computer and Paragon isn't that unique to add to my list. They need to sit down and stop looking at other MOBAs and find their own identity.

Huge community support and developers are in constant contact with the community about updates, changes, and new heroes.

They are delivering their promise on a new hero every 3 weeks. Amazing.

For those who are crying and whining about PAY2WIN formula... All heroes are available. The game is free, 20$ for early access. Yes you can buy experience points with money but you can't buy card decks with money.

Also.. all cards can be obtained by playing without paying. Even if you pay for experience you don't get card packs at every level so it doesnt make sense. You get card packs for leveling up and playing heroes X amount of times.

Also the cards are not a huge difference when it comes to building. A normal card has nearly same stats as a rare card. Epic cards are only for speicifc builds. Overall, I don't think pay2win has a factor when it comes to the game which is skill based.

Overall I am a huge fan of the game and will be a loyal fan in days to come.

When I first started playing I was getting absolutely demolished, but I recognized that there was a lot of strategy hidden beneath the depths of a beautiful façade, so I continued to play. Once you start picking up the strategy the game becomes much more enjoyable to play. There are lots of tactics and deck building that were not apparent to me as a new MOBA player, so if you are new to these types of games as well definitely look up some beginner strategy guides to get you going.
The different hero types play very differently. If you manage to sneak up on a lone ranger with a fighter for example, you will probably demolish them in a matter of seconds, but if they can hold you at range they can slowly pick you apart without danger to themselves.
There is a lot of teamwork involved in this game, and I'm really surprised that they do not support the use of headsets. You want to optimize XP gain across your team (split lanes), but also team up against enemy heroes for easy kills. I'm just breaking the surface of the strategy involved and I hope I can find some better players to team up with and learn some things from.
    Some quick tips
    - You gain much more XP from getting the killing blow on a minion or hero. Try to time the kill shot as often as possible so you get all the XP.
    - Much of this game is about flanking other heroes. You will learn very quickly that trying to defeat two other players at once is almost impossible. Try to flank and lure other heroes into making mistakes so that you can double team them.
    - People never seem to go for the red orbs in the jungle. At the beginning of the match it is difficult to defeat these minions, but once you've leveled up a couple of times they are an easy kill and give you a significant stat increase.
    - Make sure someone on your team is placing harvesters and that people are collecting from them regularly. They provide card points for the entire team at once, granting quicker stat increases for your team.
    - I don't use wards, but probably should. Being able to sneak up on enemies is key to getting easy kills. Allowing the other team to sneak up on you when you are caught in a battle with low health is not good.
    - Don't feed the enemy. Every time you die you provide a significant amount of XP to the other team. Do not continue to rush in and die, and die, and die. You will give the other team a significant advantage. If you are not able to hold your own against enemy heroes try to provide other types of support, i.e. harvesters, wards, kill jungle minions, or wait and sneak up on enemies when your team mates engage them.

I've played other MOBAs for a long time and Paragon is a beautiful game that really has all the mechanics from a normal MOBA should have. Graphics are excellent, with good FX and sound FX. I recommend if you want to try something new.

But, the cards concept it's very disorganized and you might get really lost in what card to buy. They MUST fix that.

CON: This game is by the definition of "eye candy" It looks nice, flashy, cool, but has no soul. And I'm not talking about contents since the game is still fairly new, but...the gameplay designs...are just bad.

I'm considered myself an above average gamer of this genre called MOBA, I have years of experiences in League of Legend, Smite, Heroes of Storm, some exp in DOTA and other uncommon battle arena games. This is one of the most sloppiest MOBA game I ever experienced.

    IN LONG:
The FIRST main problem is the interface.
This game has one of the most non-user-friendly interfaces I ever seen. The main menu is like a tumblr blog and extremely unorganized, category here, options over there. It won't get any better when the match starts. Unlike most typical MOBA of top-view gameplay, this game is in 3rd person view. Thus, you have to know how to navigate around, which is very confusing since the interfaces are all over the places with texts in mono-white color and all are accessed by shortcuts. Most choices you select don't even have sound effects, which often cause you to accidentally learn the wrong skill/buy wrong item and not even notice. Some skills/items activation are different than others from hero to hero. You might try to press the same button as described and question why it not work, until you realize that your hero neither lack of energy to use the skill or you have to press another different button in addition for the ability to activate. The map interfaces also cluster together and very difficult to read. You have to self discover how to navigate everything while the game provides little to no direction on what or where to go.

The SECOND problem is the gameplay design.
This implies the meaning of "doing things different does not mean doing it better" Instead of buying items like most other games to increase your hero's strength, you buy cards in this game, which serve EXACTLY THE SAME thing as if you would buy items (no this is not a card game as it sounds) If browsing through the shop during the match with messy interface is not confusing enough. As the match goes on, you need upgrade the cards (item) further by slotting them with more minor cards. If that is not confuse enough, most cards are categorized and can only be used by certain class. The purchase screen interfaces are so bad, you don't even know how much $ you have nor how much $ the card/item/upgrade cost.

The THIRD problem is the hero design.
The characters looks well rendered and quite creative. However, their abilities are very generic (ex: a skill to shoot harder for more damage) some abilities don't even have sound effect or animation, while others are questionably designed in term of strategy (ex: you have a squishy Mage hero, whose ultimate attack is to stand in the middle of the enemy crowd channeling spell with zero protection)

The FOURTH problem is Pay2Win model.
Despite the developers boast the game is otherwise fair. You see, unlike most other MOBA games where you buy heroes for diversity, but the in-game competitiveness are based on all equal standard equipments/items accessible by all players on fair playing field (ex: the gun you are using can also be bought by your opponent) This game does the opposite of that, where all heroes are free. However, how well your hero performs are based on the rarity of the equipment/card/items which are equipped. Players who spend money on epic rare cards/equipment will completely dominate the players who don't.

The FIFTH problem is accessibility and playability.
If you plan to try this game on PC, be aware that this game is designed for high-end PC (I'm talking about top-end PC that can run Fallout 4 or latest Call of Duty) The average PC gamers will find the game very laggy, endless loading screen, with unplayable blurry graphic glitch.

CONCLUSION: Paragon is mere wannabe of other popular MOBA like DOTA and Smite, it cannot decide its identity, bring nothing new to the genre, but end up worse than both other game in clumsy designs. The game emphasizes eye candy graphic over gameplay experience. That said, the game is still young and there are many improvements needed to be made. However, if this state of the game is how developers meant for it to be, I fear it will not last in the competitive market. The fact this game is already a latecomer to already crowded genre, the fact the players base is already small due to limit accessibility.

The average queue and game times were insane 10 min to join an ai game that lasted 1 hour and 40 min.. every single game i took part in there were at least 3 afks on my team and some on the enemy team which made the games even longer. the currency in this game is called cards you pick it drops onto the ground when a minon or champion dies then disappears a little while later which means if you cant get to it because its in a dangerous place or your teammates can deny you cards by taking all the drops. Super minions that spawn after your inhibator dies are super strong losing 2 inhibs is pretty much game over they never respawn it takes two plus people to push a lane with super minions.the shop is pretty bad too when you are following the recomended build like most players will when they start you wont be able to read what items do before you buy them only then will hovering over them tell you what they give you. the champions look amazing in this game but out of the champions i played their kits didnt work very well it seems like they were just like hey that ablity sounds cool give to that champ. the abilties didn't work well enough together to make the champion fun.
In short graphics good pretty game
    menus suck
    shop sucks
    gameplay sucks
    champion design sucks
if graphics meant everything this would be the best moba in the world but thats not the case this game wasnt fun to play not at the beginning when i was learning not in the middle when i kinda knew what i was doing and not at the end

To make matters worse, is that each role seems to have a general design process to them. Most of the fighters are big, ugly guys with some big metal object for a weapon. Most of the mages are petite or small characters with some kind of staff. Epic Games went for archetypes, and fell into the stereotype trap.

The only map in the game is a boring landscape with a handful of neat ideas. Perhaps the only positive aspect of this game, the map features some vertical gameplay, brush to break line of sight, and shortcuts for more agile characters. Not quite enough to save the map design in general, but welcome innovations to an otherwise phoned-in genre.

Perhaps the game's biggest (and most unforgivable) flaw is the exceedingly sluggish and utterly boring combat. Everyone attacks so slow, skills have no punch to them, cooldowns on all attacks is rediculously high, and overall damage dealt is laughable.

Without a doubt, Paragon is an incredibly bad attempt at a MOBA, and its only saving grace is that it's going to be free. However, that alone is not enough to save a bad MOBA, so don't be surprised if this game ends up dead not long after launch.

    Cons:
    1. It is early access and you have to buy into it to even play. Upside is they do offer a few packages and those who have bought into it are given free keys from time to time. So not a total downer.
    2. The game can change a lot during early access... ie. nothing is set in stone.
    3. It is a MOBA so sometimes the community can be toxic.
    4. The Ai in the co-op and solo games is ..... retarded. While it does let you learn the hero that you are playing it does not prepare you for the aggressiveness of players :)
    5. RNG for the card system is meh.... you can get the same cards repeatedly over and over and over. However there are many ways to play a class. So it won't kill you to be missing specific cards.

Paragon is PAY2WIN. Players can buy double exp boosters and double reputation boosters to both raise their levels in half the effort, and have much more points to spend to buy card packs which directly influence combat.

Horrible, maxed graphics on pc and its like 5/10, and just way to complicated, the interface is trash

First time playing this I really disliked the cards & controls. After messing around with it a bit on both PC and PS4 and getting in touch with the controls and deck building, I really enjoy it, coming from a veteran League & Dota player and I've dabbled with all kinds of mobas from HOTS, Infinite Crisis, Smite, Heroes of newerth etc.

+It's got the best graphics of a MOBA up to date.

+Deck building offers lots of customization
+Satisfying combat, feels great to chain combos with other heroes
+Personally enjoyed the general vibe and art style of the game. It's a bit heavier on the Sci-fi side which is something I like.
+/-Crossplatform play. Love it or hate it, but I was able to play with my friends that either didn't have a good enough PC or lacked a PS4.
-Feels clunkier on consoles, but stopped experiencing problems with it after adjusting controller sensitivity. More difficult to play mage archetype heroes that require you to place and cast spells with the joystick.

All in all this is a game I would just relax and kill time with, doesn't really strike me as heavy on the competitive side, perhaps in the future when the deck building gets more depth & the hero roster expands. Still just in Open Beta.

All in all a good game, recommend that you try it out for free.

I love this game, mainly since Monolith.

Let me be clear: this game depends on how well you play, you understand the gameplay inside the arena, the card system and how you cooperate with your team.

You may have in front of you a guy having spent 500EUR/USD in cards, that won't make his team win.
It is not painful to play without paying money. It's not like other F2P where you are bored being a weak with endless hours needed to increase, nor other F2P where you get crushed by people spending money.

You can spend 0 and yet obliterate a guy having spent money because he just doesn't get how to play.

Playing smartly, with smart people, allows you to win games even if you are outnumbered.

Jungling is the most rewarding experience of the game.

If you like the style, really, go and get it.

Know however it's in Beta stage, but they keep on adding heroes and content.

It's going slowly, but it's so great.

Easy to learn, hard to master.

I haven't touched Smite since Paragon came out. The game looks gorgeous, the heroes are all fun to play, even though balancing issues does become a thing, but that happens in most mobas. You can definitely tell the game is still being developed, which is fine, because I can see where it is going. The card system was annoying at first due to not having any cards, but they aren't to hard to collect.
The game is very action based, and while they WERE having a problem of very long game times, there was always action during the game. And when you are in a fight, it feels like a fight.
The only reason I won't give it a 10 is due to Travel mode. they are trying to figure out a way to get rid of it, but because you can become so fast and rotate, there's sometimes no punishment for the enemy in your lane dying because his teammates can get to the lane so quick and hold off until he gets back.
they have made some changes with minions attacking towers more that have helped this issue. Communication is also frustrating because unless you plug in a keyboard, it's impossible to communicate on PS4.
Again, I love this game. It's definitely still in development. But where I see this game going is bright and very promising. Just always remember, "Wards save Lives."

Also the game is horrendously unbalanced. A few characters are just so broken you can 1 hit tanks. Let that sink it. Most characters are useless in the game, but a few break the game, and ruin the fun and teamwork.

Also it's a new MOBA, so expect lots of new players who can't even leave base.

I think it still needs a substantial player base for it to stand out as much as Epic Games wants it to but it definitely has potential. Epic Games are experienced in MOBAs with Unreal Tournament and masters at making good 3rd person combat due to the great success of Gears Of War so I think this will eventually catch on because it plays really well and looks fantastic. My favorite mechanic of the game is the fact that last-hitting is the ONLY thing that matters. Don't waste your time spamming abilities to kill creeps, just hold off for the last-hit otherwise you cut your CXP (read as gold) income by 80%. This game very much requires a lot more skill and patience than your standard MMO. The people whining about the "pay2win" stuff haven't played the game long enough to see the game will give you the same benefits that other people have for free. You get free boosts, free card packs, and earning rep to get more card packs (your in-game items for damage, health, etc.) is very quick. You can get a card pack after 3 matches provided you play well enough. Honestly if you're looking for a new MOBA to scratch that itch and want to try something that requires a bit more skill then give this a shot. Even if you just shell out the $20 for the basic founder's pack, all characters and features are unlocked. There are no limitations, just pick it up and play. Expand

Paragon is PAY2WIN. Players can buy double exp boosters and double reputation boosters to both raise their levels in half the effort, and have much more points to spend to buy card packs which directly influence combat.

The cards are all RNG, so unlike Smite or League, theres no fair and balanced item shop during matches. Players that spent a few hundred dollars will have much more of a selection of cards to use, and some cards are extremely overpowered and game changing. The RNG factor is also an issue since theres no way to build your heroes' decks how you want simply because you are missing a majority of the necessary cards.

In matches, the game tends to really drag out with an average match lasting 45 mins. Even if youre losing you cannot surrender until 20mins in and if one person on your team vetoes the surrender, then the other 4 players are forced to keep playing. You can quit out or go AFK without penalty, however you cannot play another match until the one you left finishes without you.

The graphics are really good however theres only a single map and it lacks variety such as weather and night/day cycle so its hard to believe this is the best Unreal Engine 4 can do. Epic has sold Founders Packs which came with the challenger skins for the heroes already unlocked, yet these skins have turned out to be nothing more than palette swaps and ugly at that. You cannot customize your hero's color or accessories manually. Epic has added some "premium skins" but these too are palette swaps and cost $5 each and cannot be earned in game.

The combat is engaging however movement is sluggish and to run you have to hold a set of buttons and wait 5 seconds to initiate travel mode, in which you are unable to attack and very vulnerable to become rooted upon getting hit. Epic supposedly has servers for Paragon, however Ive never once played a lag-free match. Sometimes its not bad but other times the lag prevents you from connecting your shots or escaping from ganks.

Overall this game is not really what I expected coming from Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. Epic needs to remove the RNG of cards or just add a normal MOBA item shop where all heroes have fair and equal access to all items. Movement needs to be sped up and travel mode should happen with a single click and not take so long to initiate. The surrender option needs revamp - it needs to be majority rule and give bonus rewards to the enemy team (it currently halves their reward), and a vote to kick option needs to be added with bots taking over removed/AFK/quit players. New maps and game modes need to be added, with the dynamic weather effects found in the Gears maps. Rewards for ranking up player level, completing daily bonus, being team MVP, and losing but playing well all need huge buffs. And lastly, remove the pay2win aspect and replace it with a bunch of cool cosmetics and accessories and visual effects that can be applied to heroes. I would not mind getting loot boxes similar to Gears and Overwatch filled with cosmetic items, and allowing them to also be purchased with rep or real money.

As Paragon stands right now, its not worth anyone's time or money investment with games like Smite and Overwatch and Warframe already doing what Paragon does, except way more and far better.
