    Excelent game, since music, landscapes, characters, lore, everything is cool, the story can be a little be better than automata, but this games came first and this is the remastered version so if you never pplayed the Nier original (like) i can assure you love this game.

    Uno de los mejores juegos de rol de acción de la PS4, si quieres vivir emociones intensas y satisfactorias este es tu juego. Estilo Bayonetta, Kingdom Hearts para adultos, nos encontramos ante una obra cumbre del género aunque está lejos de ser perfecto, hace un dueto inolvidable junto a NIER: Autómata.

    Nier Replicant is a brilliant game overall: superb lead characters, engaging story, fun combat mechanics (remade in this new release of the original title to be similar to Nier: Automata) and easily one of the best videogame soundtracks I've ever experienced. Honestly, Nier Replicant's music score alone is enough to rate this game highly, as it elevates the in-game experience toNier Replicant is a brilliant game overall: superb lead characters, engaging story, fun combat mechanics (remade in this new release of the original title to be similar to Nier: Automata) and easily one of the best videogame soundtracks I've ever experienced.     Now, Nier Replicant does have some flaws, some of them owing to its age:

    - The game's quest structure is hands down its biggest problem: quests (especially secondary ones) are very repetitive and have you running pointless errands for everybody. At least, quests in the main story move the plot forward and allow you to learn more about the characters through cutscenes and dialogue among them as you play. You get hardly any of those things with secondary quests, which makes them very dull and even infuriating, as the game forces you to complete a few of them to get certain endings.
    - The environments and scenario design are rather bland
    - Outside of the group of co-protagonists, most of the characters in the game are uninteresting and generic

    If you have the patience to put up with some of Nier Replicant's dated or simply poorly designed elements, you will get in return an unforgettable, unique and thought-provoking experience, as well as a cast of main characters you will fall in love with.

    Did I mention how freaking good this game's soundtrack is, by the way? Well, I'll say it again: Nier Replicant's soundtrack is the GOAT.    … Expand

    I am not sure if this game is better than Automata but the story hit me even harder, some of the endings literally had me in tears.

    Gameplay wise it is much better than the original but not on the level of Automata, the soundtrack is equally as amazing and the 3 main characters are extremely well written.

    - one of the best subversive hero stories ever told

    - some of the most god awful loot drops for a single player game (if you are going for the platinum and farming for specific materials - spent nearly 35 hours out of my 60 hour playthrough farming materials to get the Upgrade 33 weapons Achievement)

    Nier Replicant as a whole, serves as one of the best shining examples of a flawed masterpiece still being a masterpiece. Yes, most of the side quests are boring fetch quests. Yes it gets repetitive during route C and D. And yes the loot chances suck. But what you get in return, is an experience you won't find anywhere else.

    Replicant as a story pulls off one of the most remarkable twists I have ever seen, while not really chastising the players for that twist. It delivers a gut punch to sour the sweet taste victory while also remaining beautifully wistful and depressing throughout.

    And while I might have called the side quests mostly uninspired, there are definite standouts. Off the top of my head, the whole questline concerning the Lighthouse lady is one of my favorite moments from the game. An innocuous side quest dealing with a man conning a bunch of women from the surrounding cities expands on a main quest storyline ten hours after you've done it, making it somehow even more tragic.

    The party of adventurers is also a standout. NieR, Weiss, Kainé and Emil are my personal favorite party in gaming, as they bounce off each other amazingly, making all of their dialogue burst with personality. The rest of the cast are no slouches either, bringing up moments that made me tear up.

    All of this is underlined by the beauty of a soundtrack, allowing the story to pop off the screen in bright and beautiful color. Kainé/Salvation being my favorite, only slightly beating out Song of the Ancients. A strong OST that does not slouch at any point.

    I wholeheartedly recommend NieR Replicant as one of gaming's best stories ever told.    … Expand

    I think this game would deserve a 7'5-8 but I'm giving it a 7 because players tend to overrate this game. It took me 19 hours doing only a few quests. I might watch the extra scenes on youtube as I don't feel to play this game over and over, only to see a few new things. I continued for one hour after finishing the first game and it's not worthy to me (plus, what's with the lenght of KaineI think this game would deserve a 7'5-8 but I'm giving it a 7 because players tend to overrate this game.     I'm gonna start off from the most important part of the game; the story.
    While NieR: Automata's story emphasizes on it's themes, NieR Replicant's story emphasizes on it's characters. In NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., the story has been expanded with a new story arc and an additional Ending. Overall, NieR Replicant has a phenomenal story, one that brought me to tears many times; even more so than NieR: Automata's.
    The gameplay is neither as experimental nor as fluid as in NieR: Automata but the combat system is quite similar and the Sealed Verses are more interesting than the Pod Programs.
    The main characters surprised me; they're absolutely wonderful! Visually, the game isn't impressive but it looks fine and the music is incredible!
    Just like in NieR: Automata though, a single playthrough won't be enough to finish the entire story of the game. Unfortunately for NieR Replicant, you need to collect every weapon in the game in order to get the true ending of the story and it gets quite boring after a while.
    Also, the side-quests are very uninteresting and dated.

    Pros:
    + Superb narrative
    + Great gameplay
    + Awesome characters
    + Fantastic music

    Cons:
    - Tedious requirements for the true ending
    - Weak side-quests

    Narrative: 10/10

    Una versión mejorada del Nier de ps3, mejora en todos los sentidos y la vuelve en una gran experiencia en la cual se cuenta una historia increíble y conmovedora. En donde más flaquea es en el gameplay el cual puede ser estar bien, pero es notablemente inferior al de Nier Automata, igualmente altamente recomendado para los que disfruten de obras que buscan sorprenderte.

    Story ,characters are well written and it perfectly takes the combat system of nier automata and applies it to 2010's Nier Gestalt . Environment is great and characters are memorable .

    I played Automata first and I liked it a lot, it is a beautiful game. But Replicant, at least in my opinion, is the real deal... Great story, writing, humor, voice acting, varying gameplay, music, and visuals - every aspect is astounding, and together they form an exceptional experience. It became one of my favourite games.     I just got done with part B which I think is far enough to actually write a review.

    I ducked most of this game ever since I completed NieR: Automata (still need to do some side quests) 2-3 years ago.     These aren't THAT big of a deal and it's more of a general complaint..but still it'd be nice to see those implemented.

    Other than that..I can't really think of much. Some complained that it was too slow at first...but playing through it...I was fine with this.

    Another thing....I'm fine with replaying stuff if it adds more context (or im playing it again a year or two later) but replaying all this to play as Kaine for 50-70 minutes? I don't know, man...

    Everything else is a pro!

    The music...there's PLENTY of good soundtracks out there...but NieR beats all of them (except maybe one).

    -The feel
    -So many of the characters...they were so well told. Even ones with no official voice lines...I really felt for them. Perspective and context are everything.

    If there was one franchise I'd recommend to a person looking for a story that will move them..make them think...something that doesn't follow the typical story beats..it'd be this one. Before Red Dead 2...Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher, etc

    It's a story about humanity, love, sacrifice and like I mentioned before perspective and context.

    Despite some things here and there I'd change...I'm still giving this a 10

    A gentle game with a great back story for Nier Automata fans. Some good humour and some very good voice acting. However, there are too may tedious side quests meaning that you easily overlevel, which detracts from the game. Great for a PS3 game, though pretty dated in gameplay for a PS4 game.

    This game is a timeless classic. Epic story, masterpiece level music, and well developed characters are enough to keep you hooked for hours!
    Only small problems you'll encounter are certain sections in the game with old school text based adventure RPG sections which will tire you (unless you like that kind of storytelling) and barebones gameplay.     Сюжет и лор у игры шикарный, а твисты просто моё почтение. Система концовок тоже придумана интересно и даёт переосмысление сюжета. Саундтрек тоже шикарен.
    Побочные квесты вроде простеньекие, но пропитаны какой-то душевностью. Боевка хорошая, боссы отличные и запоминающиеся. Прокачка не очень глубокая (есть ли она?). Рыбалка сделана    Отличная игра с некоторыми небольшими недостатками.

    Игра слишком легкая на самой высокой сложности, не то чтобы я был каким-то хард геймером, но выполняя все побочки игра не особо даёт челенджа.

    While the music is top tier and sound effects solid and the graphics and animation too, the aspect I disliked the most was the gameplay. It is understandable for an older game that this aspect wouldn't necessarily live up to modern standards with just a remaster. However, the weakness is still relevant. The combat is smooth and satisfying but despite the variety of spells and weapons to use, you are unlikely to switch often as there isn't any incentive to. The main drag about the gameplay is the mundane quests, most are simple fetch or slay quests but there are tedious and boring escort and talking quests. The story for the quests are worth paying attention to, but this is undermined by how much back and forth one needs to do which is annoying as there is no fast travel (until part 2, but the fast travel system is still rather poor) and also the long load times that will take you out of the immersion. Not to mention how some quests demand a ridiculous amount of resources that require immense grinding, but the game doesn't have a good system to allow one to without boring the player to death.

    Overall, Nier Replicant is a good game, but it is clear that the flaws Nier Automata left were done for good reason.    … Expand

Gathering all the weapons just to get the chance to see the final endings is a pain in itself that requires time, research, and replaying stuff you already did. The story is outstanding, the deeper you get into the game the deeper the story gets. Lots of twists that will blew my mind. The pacing is the worst aspect of this game and that’s because of side quests and grinding for rare items.

    This game has 5 endings and you’re supposed to get them in order (Ending A, Ending B, and endings C-E). If you just want to do the first playthrough for the first ending (Ending A) then you can just do whichever side quests you feel like or none at all. What is left is a fantastic 9/10 experience.

    If you want to see the full story and get the true final ending, then you’ll have to spend many hours doing side quests where you traverse the world fetching items and taking them back and forth. Plus grinding (killing the same enemies ad nauseum) until you get the rare items you need. It’s like Chinese water torture in video game form. The payoff to this is that you experience the true depth of the story and indeed it does reward you handsomely story-wise for this trouble.

    I quit the game in frustration from the hours of fetch quests a couple times and regretted buying the game. Then I’d hit the main story and it was so good that all was forgiven.

    I highly recommend the game, it’s a gem of a game. But I recommend it with this caveat and advice: Play through the game as you see fit, doing as many or little side quests as you feel like. Get Ending A. Then decide if you want to keep going or not, doing many hours of grinding and fetch quests in exchange for the coveted Ending E.    … Expand

    I'm coming from Nier Automata, and I've played this Replicant only with this Remake.
    And after all I can see the OST, and a good part of the plot, as the best thing that came from this. The gameplay of course work, but I find that the Nier Automata gameplay it's still much better than this one. (and the side quests aren't always so    Undubletly the best part of the game is the OST.
    I'm coming from Nier Automata, and I've played this Replicant only with this Remake.

    It's a fun game. Very different in terms of story that most modern games with some nice atmosphere and presentation. The game can drag a little in the middle with having to do a couple replays just for some added context but overall it's a good time and the game looks good.

    Very interesting and different game. This is my first Yoko Taro game and now I understand why people say he is so unique. Something to keep in mind is that you have to complete all of the endings to fully appreciate this game, so it may take a bit of grind and repetition.     La remasterización de una obra maestra de la época de Ps3, renovada con nuevos gráficos, modelados y un mayor rendimiento. Algo que creo que se debe aclarar es que el padre nunca fue el protagonista original, siempre fue el hermano de la versión japonesa. Algunos creen que la relación padre-hijo era mejor, pero creo que la relación entre hermanos puede ser igual o más fuerte.

    De nuevo, nos encontramos con un muy buen juego de la mano de Yoko Taro. Personajes complejos y entrañables, cada uno con su trasfondo (bastante tristes todos), música excepcional y un apartado gráfico que no revoluciona, pero da la talla. Un sistema de combate que se nota que no ha tenido la buena mano de platinum games pero que no molesta en lo absoluto. De nuevo, el primer final es sólo el inicio, y cada nueva ruta desgrana más historia que cada vez hace a la trama más interesante. Cometiendo el mismo error que siempre en esta saga, aunque las misiones secundarias aportan historia siguen siendo aburridas. El juego da lugar a muchas teorías y sus finales te dejan pensando, lo cual me gusta mucho. Es un juego que no puede faltar en las estanterías de los fans de la saga o de Yoko Yaro, y que tampoco dejaría de aconsejar a los recién llegados, aunque su arranque sea algo lento.    … Expand

    Nier: Automata is one of my favorite games of all time. Everything about that game had me hooked where I couldn't get enough. While a decent game, unfortunately I didn't quite have the same experience with Replicant.

    Cons:

    -Fetch quests...endless fetch quests
    -Constant back and forth
    -EXTREMELY slow start
    -Endless repetition
    -Hammy dialogue

    The main problem with Replicant is its litany of repetitive fetch quests that have you running back and forth between the same areas just to talk to another NPC that will send you back again to that previous area... rinse, repeat. Many of these quests require lists of rare drop items that can leave you grinding for hours upon hours. At one point in the game, you get the same exact quest twice in a row!

    Ultimately, it is a shame because the core combat is fun enough and the story and world is interesting, once it gets going...... which for me was about 30 hours in. Alot of the things that made Automata great are here (albeit in their infancy) but the execution and pacing aren't quite there. The game seems to know it can be a slog, because it a character keeps mentioning how annoying much of the back in forth is... I realize Yoko Taro has an eccentric sense of humor, but this is just one troll that didn't really land.

    It's a game I can only recommend if you are a fan of Automata and you go in knowing that the good goes hand in hand with some slog. When its good, its a great experience, but its certainly not for everyone.    … Expand

After Nier Automata launch, i can say that developers tried thier besties to make the game, that will not fall behind 2017 version. I like how they've made multiple endings that allow you to play this game more and more(thats the problem for new games). I also very fond pf the plot. Its awesome. You try to find the answer for all the quetions, even if you already played Automata, you will heve a lot of questions. So plot was so good with a lot of twists likewise, and i love it. So im waiting what will be the next move of Square Enix and nier series. I really want to see more Nier Automata and Replicant connections or even some contiuation(second part) of this games. Also i like how the developers thanked you after going through all the endings!… Expand

    This game is fantastic, I recommend it highly. U wont regret ur time and will enjoy. 4 me in the beggining was little weird but later u have really things to see. It's not better then Nier Automata but I couldnt believe this game was originally made in 2010. 9/10

    Its ok. OK Story, ugly world, funny fights, unfunny sidequests, low immersion, boring characters. Looking at this game, Automata is a Masterpiece.

    Fantastic game.

    If you are coming from Nier Automata then you need to temper expectations as this is a slightly different game (also being a 10 year old ps3 game upgrade). There are some annoyances that players might find with the backtracking/side quests, however, don't let this put you off this wonderful game. The Story is really engaging and emotional.     The Graphics are a nice update from the original.

    The Music is phenomenal! They have remastered and enhanced the music to make it feel more orchestral and it really works! This has to be with Automata the best music in a video game if not outside of video games. Kudos to everyone involved in creating the music as it truly is masterful.

    All in all, it is a fantastic experience and it is worth experiencing for yourself!    … Expand

    Excelente narrativa, juego obligado para los fans de la saga Nier. El único detalle son las pantallas de carga excesivas, creo pudieron pulir esa parte respecto al juego original.
    El soundtrack espectacular.

    Complete Ripoff from the original Nier. All they did was change the father character to the kid from the Nier automata... and kept everything from the original game the same. Completely screwing people over who paid good money for something that they where so lazy to just change a character and resale the original game.. such BS...

    Only recommended for fans of the franchise. If you didn't play Automata it's better to start with Automata and play this remaster only if you (very much) enjoyed Automata.
    - Soundtrack 10/10
    - Story 9/10 but you'll start to appreciate it very late in the game. - Everything else is average or just bad, especially sidequests which were painfully outdated even 10 years ago.     It was suprisingly underwhelming... Automata is one of the best games I have ever played and this falls short in every aspect compared to it. Maybe I had to high expectations coming from automata but this one did not impact me as much as I hoped. It is a fun game, but extremly repetitive and tedious back and forth ruins the experience alot. Story did not capture my like automata did asIt was suprisingly underwhelming...     Played Nier: Automata in 2017 and it became one of my favorite games ever. New to this game, and it is just as masterful. Don’t let the grindiness of the side quests and weapon upgrading deter you, as it isn’t all that necessary to get the full experience in the first place. This is a unique, fascinating, incredible, and heartbreaking experience.

I can't say so much for Replicant. Currently, I am just trudging through with the thought "It will get better. That big reveal will come!" but if I didn't have that I'd shelve this turd. This just isn't good for a game.

    The characters are very uninteresting and I'm not sure why I should care about them all that much. They all just seem to join for whatever reason and suddenly they all seem to have these tight bonds despite only knowing each other for a few hours. Don't get me wrong they are interesting characters and the banter and dialogue is very well written but it really doesn't get me to care about the characters in the same way as 2B and 9S.

    The music is disgusting and horrible to listen to. I would never listen to any of the music from this game. It's mostly nonsensical chanting. The tracks that ARE good I heard before in Automata already at certain key points. But because those tracks like Kaine's theme are so OVERUSED in Replicant they have lost all sense of charm.

    The only highlight of this game is how it parodies so many other genres. One minute you're in an action RPG but the next you might be in a top down dungeon crawler. I thought this aspect of the game was interesting. But maybe a little gimmicky too.

    Overall I would avoid Replicant. It's not worth playing if you don't have the time. Maybe it has some big reveals later. I'm going to play to the end, but it's a real slow burn. But it doesn't have the early on strong story elements or interesting characters and exciting music to facilitate that slow burn. I wouldn't blame you if you just stop playing.    … Expand

    This game was always amazing and its a dream come true to get an updated version. This story is one of the most emotional and experimental stories ever told and I dont think it could work on any other medium..
    Almost everyone that plays this games and sticks with it to the meat of the story comes away having had a cathardic experiance. Ive also teased other men that have cried over movies etc. But Nier made my cry!!, the music mixed with the emotional voivce acting and well writen, to the point dialouge cut me like no other stort and on more than on one occasion.
    But just cause a game makes you emotional dosent make it good. Its actually hard to pin point what makes Nier so special. Which is what left itopen to shallow cirisism in the past. Some say side quests and pacing was bad. But personally I felt those things helps to give a feeling of time passing and returning home.. Overall I hope anyone with a refined taste in games and experience with many genres and styles of games checks out Nier. Because that is who I think its for. Those that can see past the surface level and appreciate the design and intricacy in this work    … Expand

I have lost count of the number of times I found myself just idly standing around listening to Devola sing Song of the Ancients. Other than that, this is a brilliantly unique, brutally sad game that fixes almost all of my major reservations about the original release.… Expand

    Nier: Replicant is a game for true fans of action JRPGs. For those who have the patience to overcome the slow start and generic environments. And who are willing to play the game several times to fully understand what it was about. They will definitely be rewarded.

    As a remake, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is a bit disappointing, because in terms of graphics it only reached the level of NieR Automata, which means it doesn’t look great. The content, however, is still brilliant. It’s an amazing adventure you must experience. [06/2021, p.36]

    If anything, the amazing story of the original Nier has only become more valuable today than it already was back in the day. While many elements have received a significant update, some remain the same, but the story more than makes up for it.
