    I like the story sooooo much, and now I have a possibility to play it for my own. Yeah, it’s game from 2010, so you need to understand that it has some “old” gameplay mechanics, but developers did the best to make this game feel more fluid. You shouldn’t miss this title!!

    I recommend to play NieR Replicant before NieR Automata that's doesn't means don't play NieR Replicant if you play NieR Automata, because each game of NieR doesn't contain any spoiler for other.     Fantastic game.

    If you are coming from Nier Automata then you need to temper expectations as this is a slightly different game (also being a 10 year old ps3 game upgrade). There are some annoyances that players might find with the backtracking/side quests, however, don't let this put you off this wonderful game. The Story is really engaging and emotional.     The Story is really engaging and emotional. There are additional scenes added into the upgrade which really add to the story, as well as additional playable content and ending.

    The Graphics are a nice update from the original.

    The Music is phenomenal! They have remastered and enhanced the music to make it feel more orchestral and it really works! This has to be with Automata the best music in a video game if not outside of video games. Kudos to everyone involved in creating the music as it truly is masterful.

    If your a fan of nier automita then you'll enjoy this game. Sure the combat isn't quit as polished and there is a alot of backtracking, but if you can push past that what is left is a masterpiece story and delightful characters brilliant voice acting and a wicked soundtrack!!

    An absolute masterpiece of a game. While it does have a couple of issues, everything down to the atmosphere, music, and story far out way them. The combat is great too, much like automata's but with a nice parry mechanic. Would recommend it to anyone who's serious about video games.

    This game was always amazing and its a dream come true to get an updated version. This story is one of the most emotional and experimental stories ever told and I dont think it could work on any other medium..

Ive also teased other men that have cried over movies etc. But Nier made my cry!!, the music mixed with the emotional voivce acting and well writen, to the point dialouge cut me like no other stort and on more than on one occasion.
    But just cause a game makes you emotional dosent make it good. Its actually hard to pin point what makes Nier so special. Which is what left itopen to shallow cirisism in the past. Some say side quests and pacing was bad. But personally I felt those things helps to give a feeling of time passing and returning home.. Overall I hope anyone with a refined taste in games and experience with many genres and styles of games checks out Nier. Because that is who I think its for. The graphics are not great but that doesn't bother me at all, what I have to give credit too is the perfect game play and the fantastic soundtrack that Nier provides, also the story is very well laid out and I can see this series going places. Yoko Taro you're a genius.

    After playing Nier Automata quite a while ago I was curious on the Nier Replicant Remake. After all the game has its strengths in the character story development, boss fights and cutscenes but I also still think the game lacks in other areas leading me to giving it an 8 to 8.5.

    For example the main areas are well detailed but the open world is very boring lifeless and low detailed,    After playing Nier Automata quite a while ago I was curious on the Nier Replicant Remake. After all the game has its strengths in the character story development, boss fights and cutscenes but I also still think the game lacks in other areas leading me to giving it an 8 to 8.5.

    For example the main areas are well detailed but the open world is very boring lifeless and low detailed, which is a shame considering how well done the main story areas are. Also I was very disappointed by the quality of sidequests. It is obvious that the original game is older and follows some JRPG weaknesses but emphasizes them negatively in certain parts. A simple example are quests were you continously run between A-B-A-B-A just for the sake of talking to a person. The lack of more areas, dungeons or greater connectivity between quests is hurting a lot in my opinion.

    Playing on a PS5 I was also a bit disappointed by the loading performance. In general the times are fast with maybe 5-10 seconds of loading time on average but there are so many loading sequences, elevator points or level designed loading structures that it hurts the overall game flow a lot. If loading times would ve been optimized to 1-3 seconds the game would benefit greatly. Here again it is quite obvious that the original engine is older and not perfectly optimized.

    The strengths of this game are pretty clear. The story might be strange yet it is interesting and has a strong bonding and continuity. Character and item buildup is not special but still good. Together with all the magics and weapon classes it makes up for a decent complexity. The sound design is very flat and simple whereas the OST in general is fantastic and enhances the overall atmosphere greatly.

    For the first regular ending you will need around 15 to 25 hrs depending on speed, sidequests and difficulty. The consecutive endings will take around the same on top plus some completetionist grinding tasks you have to do in order to unlock them.

    To me Nier Replicant is a very nice game that I would recommend but not at full price. As described the game has to me some ups and downs but in general is a very good and unique game. Some art and level design in this game wont be found anywhere else and make this journey worth it. I can only congratulate the developers for so much creativity.    … Expand

    Thanks to NieR Automata. Players can experience the original NieR Replicant. But that's not the ultimate experience. Drakengard series is what gave birth to NieR series. Hoping to see a new Drakengard someday or at least upgraded version of Drakengard 1 and 3. YOKO TARO should be praised more

    This was an amazing game that only improved the original story in my eyes. With a new mixing of the soundtrack, added content, quality of life changes, and improved combat, it really was able to make the original game even better while also serving as a good accessible games for new fans who want to get into the NieR series.     Played Nier: Automata in 2017 and it became one of my favorite games ever. New to this game, and it is just as masterful. Don’t let the grindiness of the side quests and weapon upgrading deter you, as it isn’t all that necessary to get the full experience in the first place. This is a unique, fascinating, incredible, and heartbreaking experience.

My only complaint is that your ability to see all the game’s endings is still walled off behind arbitrarily collecting all the game’s weapons, so I would urge you to find a spoiler-free guide so as not to waste your time (there is a point of no return where you can lock yourself out of seeing all the endings if you don’t collect all the weapons from the first half of the game, so be warned). Other than that, this is a brilliantly unique, brutally sad game that fixes almost all of my major reservations about the original release.… Expand

    While I do think the combat is more fun and the game locations are beautiful. And of course the fantastic music ost. Nier still suffer from some old gen design. like invisible walls, too many loading times. But still recommand to all Automata fans.

    These aren't THAT big of a deal and it's more of a general complaint..but still it'd be nice to see those implemented.

    Other than that..I can't really think of much. Some complained that it was too slow at first...but playing through it...I was fine with this.

    Another thing....I'm fine with replaying stuff if it adds more context (or im playing it again a year or two later) but replaying all this to play as Kaine for 50-70 minutes? I don't know, man...

    Everything else is a pro!

    The music...there's PLENTY of good soundtracks out there...but NieR beats all of them (except maybe one).

    -The feel
    -So many of the characters...they were so well told. Even ones with no official voice lines...I really felt for them. Perspective and context are everything.

    If there was one franchise I'd recommend to a person looking for a story that will move them..make them think...something that doesn't follow the typical story beats..it'd be this one. Before Red Dead 2...Horizon Zero Dawn, The Witcher, etc

    It's a story about humanity, love, sacrifice and like I mentioned before perspective and context.

    Despite some things here and there I'd change...I'm still giving this a 10

    I was looking forward to it for YEARS and didn't disappoint...I can't ask for anything else (except more about Devola and Popola!)    … Expand

    Неизменным остались история и к сожалению геймдизайн, который устарел.

    Nier хорошая игра и она заслуживает большего внимания, чем получила в свое время. Однако, можно было и лучше. Обидно, что Йоко Таро превратился в бренд, пусть творит, а не выгорает. Без спойлеров, если вам понравилась Автомата, то стоит поиграть в Репликант и вы знаете чего ждать. Если вы знаете о Автомате только по жопке 2В, проходите мимо.

    If you liked nier automata, you will like replicant, specially if you have never played it before like me. It starts slow, just as automata but it is worth the 60 dollars. After a couple of main missions you will notice how yoko taro is starting to play with your feelings, and the side missions start to get interesting too. Don't expect drastic changes in gameplay like automata( aerial, hacking), replicant is only ground battle, and the ground battle does feel like automata. I do think that replicant is harder in difficulty.

    The only con I could find is that while the gameplay has improved, I havent encountered an enemy that I can use the full improvement on, but I could be wrong since I only played it for a couple of hours and have done like maybe 6 main missions.

Nier/Drakengard has never been a franchise about intricate combat systems or amazing visuals, Automata just happened to be an outlier. However if you’re looking for a story rivalling and debatably better than Automata’s, then I highly recommend picking up 2021’s version upgrade of Nier Replicant.… Expand

    Very interesting and different game. This is my first Yoko Taro game and now I understand why people say he is so unique. Something to keep in mind is that you have to complete all of the endings to fully appreciate this game, so it may take a bit of grind and repetition. Cheers to YT to deliver an original and fun experience. 8.5/10

Die Side-Quest sind zu großen Teilen furchtbar. Back-Tracking gehört zur Tagesordnung. Die Musik ist manchmal ein bisschen am overacten.

    Story: 7/10 I really liked ending A and B but i wasn't a big fan of any of the others tbh. Gameplay 9/10 I little repetitive at the end but fun nonetheless Characters 8/10 I loved all of them but i think i liked more the "bad" guys than the "good" guys. Nier wasn't that good imo and Kaine was a little disappointing by the end, even    I enjoyed this game

    This game is fantastic, I recommend it highly. U wont regret ur time and will enjoy. 4 me in the beggining was little weird but later u have really things to see. It's not better then Nier Automata but I couldnt believe this game was originally made in 2010. 9/10

The gameplay is great, unfortunately you unlock pretty much all the abilities early in the game, but they are very fun to use, and the combos are satisfying. It looks better, the rerecorded voices are better and even fantastic where they need to be. And the music that they redid is phenomenal with some much emotion just gives me goosebumps every time i hear it.     This game is an absolute masterpiece 10/10 story. Also very nice gameplay and the graphics are a hug improvement from the original. Warning! Dont play this game if you dont want depression :(

    Another beautiful game by the great Yoko Taro. The out of the box concepts shown is truly magnificent. The ending makes you speechless, it takes some time to process everything.

After Nier Automata launch, i can say that developers tried thier besties to make the game, that will not fall behind 2017 version. I like how they've made multiple endings that allow you to play this game more and more(thats the problem for new games). I also very fond pf the plot. Its awesome. You try to find the answer for all the quetions, even if you already played Automata, you will heve a lot of questions. So plot was so good with a lot of twists likewise, and i love it. So im waiting what will be the next move of Square Enix and nier series. I really want to see more Nier Automata and Replicant connections or even some contiuation(second part) of this games. Also i like how the developers thanked you after going through all the endings!… Expand

    The story in this game is great, and it isn't afraid to take chances and be creative which is what makes this game shine.

    Without spoiling anything: after the first playthrough I would give this game a 7, but after the second playthrough I think it deserves an 8. The combat is solid, but easy/basic. Many of the spells I never even looked at, I stuck with the same two the whole game.     -The side quests are very boring and very pointless
    -The side activities were also very boring and very pointless (fishing/farming? why? it was not executed well and did not add anything to the game).
    -On normal the game is extremely easy, on hard the game is easy and boring because it is still easy but it takes 4 times as long to kill anything
    -There is a TON of boring backtracking

    The story, music and characters in this game stand out as exceptional. The combat and graphics are mediocre, everything else was pretty bad.    … Expand

    It's a fun game. Very different in terms of story that most modern games with some nice atmosphere and presentation. The game can drag a little in the middle with having to do a couple replays just for some added context but overall it's a good time and the game looks good.

    Now, Nier Replicant does have some flaws, some of them owing to its age:

    - The game's quest structure is hands down its biggest problem: quests (especially secondary ones) are very repetitive and have you running pointless errands for everybody. At least, quests in the main story move the plot forward and allow you to learn more about the characters through cutscenes and dialogue among them as you play. You get hardly any of those things with secondary quests, which makes them very dull and even infuriating, as the game forces you to complete a few of them to get certain endings.
    - The environments and scenario design are rather bland
    - Outside of the group of co-protagonists, most of the characters in the game are uninteresting and generic

    If you have the patience to put up with some of Nier Replicant's dated or simply poorly designed elements, you will get in return an unforgettable, unique and thought-provoking experience, as well as a cast of main characters you will fall in love with.

    Did I mention how freaking good this game's soundtrack is, by the way? Well, I'll say it again: Nier Replicant's soundtrack is the GOAT.    … Expand

    The game differs quite a bit from Nier Automata. The pacing is different and the combat is different. The combat is good, really good, but not as good as Automata. The story is outstanding, the deeper you get into the game the deeper the story gets. Lots of twists that will blew my mind. The pacing is the worst aspect of this game and that’s because of side quests and grinding for rare items.

    This game has 5 endings and you’re supposed to get them in order (Ending A, Ending B, and endings C-E). If you just want to do the first playthrough for the first ending (Ending A) then you can just do whichever side quests you feel like or none at all. What is left is a fantastic 9/10 experience.

    If you want to see the full story and get the true final ending, then you’ll have to spend many hours doing side quests where you traverse the world fetching items and taking them back and forth. Plus grinding (killing the same enemies ad nauseum) until you get the rare items you need. It’s like Chinese water torture in video game form. The payoff to this is that you experience the true depth of the story and indeed it does reward you handsomely story-wise for this trouble.

    I quit the game in frustration from the hours of fetch quests a couple times and regretted buying the game. Then I’d hit the main story and it was so good that all was forgiven.

    I highly recommend the game, it’s a gem of a game. But I recommend it with this caveat and advice: Play through the game as you see fit, doing as many or little side quests as you feel like.     NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is the Remastered version of NIER.
    As a massive fan of NieR: Automata and as someone who didn't play the original version of this game, I was very excited to play NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...
    I'm gonna start off from the most important part of the game; the story. While NieR: Automata's story emphasizes on it's themes, NieR Replicant's story    NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is the Remastered version of NIER.
    As a massive fan of NieR: Automata and as someone who didn't play the original version of this game, I was very excited to play NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...
    I'm gonna start off from the most important part of the game; the story.
    While NieR: Automata's story emphasizes on it's themes, NieR Replicant's story emphasizes on it's characters. In NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., the story has been expanded with a new story arc and an additional Ending. Overall, NieR Replicant has a phenomenal story, one that brought me to tears many times; even more so than NieR: Automata's.
    The gameplay is neither as experimental nor as fluid as in NieR: Automata but the combat system is quite similar and the Sealed Verses are more interesting than the Pod Programs.
    The main characters surprised me; they're absolutely wonderful! Visually, the game isn't impressive but it looks fine and the music is incredible!
    Just like in NieR: Automata though, a single playthrough won't be enough to finish the entire story of the game. Unfortunately for NieR Replicant, you need to collect every weapon in the game in order to get the true ending of the story and it gets quite boring after a while.
    Also, the side-quests are very uninteresting and dated.

    Pros:
    + Superb narrative
    + Great gameplay
    + Awesome characters
    + Fantastic music

    Cons:
    - Tedious requirements for the true ending
    - Weak side-quests

    If it wasn't for the tedious requirements and some outdated elements, I would've given NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... an even higher final rating.
    Still, this is a very special videogame experience and at the end of the day, I really wish there were more games like NieR: Automata and NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...

Algo que creo que se debe aclarar es que el padre nunca fue el protagonista original, siempre fue el hermano de la versión japonesa. Algunos creen que la relación padre-hijo era mejor, pero creo que la relación entre hermanos puede ser igual o más fuerte.

    De nuevo, nos encontramos con un muy buen juego de la mano de Yoko Taro. Personajes complejos y entrañables, cada uno con su trasfondo (bastante tristes todos), música excepcional y un apartado gráfico que no revoluciona, pero da la talla. Un sistema de combate que se nota que no ha tenido la buena mano de platinum games pero que no molesta en lo absoluto. De nuevo, el primer final es sólo el inicio, y cada nueva ruta desgrana más historia que cada vez hace a la trama más interesante. Cometiendo el mismo error que siempre en esta saga, aunque las misiones secundarias aportan historia siguen siendo aburridas. El juego da lugar a muchas teorías y sus finales te dejan pensando, lo cual me gusta mucho. Es un juego que no puede faltar en las estanterías de los fans de la saga o de Yoko Yaro, y que tampoco dejaría de aconsejar a los recién llegados, aunque su arranque sea algo lento.    … Expand

    I had a blast with this game. I know some people complain about some of the side quests, but some of the stories in this quests were enjoyable. However backtracking as well as well replaying the game multiple times to get all the endings did feel cumbersome at times. The story, combat and everything else were amazing. If you feel the game feels too easy on normal, play on hard. EnemiesI had a blast with this game.     I never played the original but was in love with the sequel Nier Automata. This game is a great prequel and I really hope for another game in this series.

    One of the best games for people who like gorgeous adventures with beautiful anime-style characters! The story is very deep and emotional, accompanied by one of the best gaming soundtracks ever. Nier never disappoints. Most sidequests are completely optional and so is grinding materials to max out all weapons.     Nier: Replicant is a game for true fans of action JRPGs. For those who have the patience to overcome the slow start and generic environments. And who are willing to play the game several times to fully understand what it was about. They will definitely be rewarded.

    As a remake, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... is a bit disappointing, because in terms of graphics it only reached the level of NieR Automata, which means it doesn’t look great. The content, however, is still brilliant. It’s an amazing adventure you must experience. [06/2021, p.36]

    If anything, the amazing story of the original Nier has only become more valuable today than it already was back in the day. While many elements have received a significant update, some remain the same, but the story more than makes up for it.
