Until I met this game I thought action rpgs was just something interesting. Nier is nice to play, has an excellent history, beautiful track, and a metalanguage previously seen in a game, but never so well performed

I was honestly surprised of how good Nier:Automata was, even though I knew how good the reviews where. I mostly play FPS titles like rainbow six siege or COD but so at first I was not sure if if like this sort of game, but I shortly realized how good it was and I could not get of the computer!

Metal Gear Final Fantasy. The best game on PS4 hands down. Best story, best gameplay, looks beautiful. Seriously though, this is the best game on the playstation 4. Also the soundtrack might be the best videogame OST of all time. This game is right down my ally, so your millage may vary . But even if you aren't into japanese games, I really think anybody should have a great time with this.

This is another game that didnt apeal to me at first and it turned out to be one of my favorite games. The story may be a little weird to follow but after a while i connected to it and didn't want it to end. Hopefully SquareEnix comes out with a sequel for this game.

A beautiful game with solid gameplay, lush graphics and a mesmerizing soundtrack. The story is confusing at first; if you're a veteran anime lover it won't phase you at all but for others, androids dressed as sexy (and blind) maids and butlers living in orbit around a post-apocalyptic Earth might feel A BIT WEIRD in your first few years.

If you can sit through it though, the game gets increasingly rewarding as you progress and it's one of the few games that is actually fun to Platinum (Pun not quite intended). Definitely one of my highlights of this console generation.

This is a memorable experience every step of the way but the one thing that stands out from all else, is the music. The soundtrack on this game is by the best I've heard in a long time, it reinforces the theme of the game while being pleasant to listen to.

I just wanna say that the people who didn't go past the first ending and decided the game was meh haven't even experienced a fraction of what this game really is: an incredibly powerful story, at whose core lies the question: what does it mean to be human?

On top of the deep philosophical themes, you have many emotional scenes. The C and D endings are an emotional rollercoaster, as you see the story become darker and darker. It makes ending E so impactful, because the ultimate ending is one full of hope.

It helps a lot that the music is absolutely amazing, not only fitting everything that happens, but enhancing it. I doubt the scene at the factory would be the same level of eerie without "Become as Gods", or that the ending E would have as much impact without "Weight of the World".

It's also hard not to mention the characters, who make the whole story possible. And as much as I love 2B, 9S, and their interactions and relationship which is complicated to say the least, I think it's A2 that ultimately stole my heart. She's made out to be a cold and mysterious character at first, but the more time you play as her, the more her soft side shows, and you grow sympathy for her. By the end she was easily my favorite. I also loved Devola and Popola, Adam and Eve, 6O and 21O, and Pascal, who are all side characters, but are still incredibly interesting and lovable.

Mechanically the game is really solid, the combat and movement were all smooth and felt nice, I often jumped around just to see the smooth animations of the main characters. The experience is very customizable: on Easy mode you can choose just how much help you need. For example, I only ever used the Auto-shoot chip, because I was annoyed with having to constantly manually shoot. All 3 playable characters are unique, and each is fun to play, I'd have a hard time picking my favorite.

All in all, it's a game that everyone should play, and it easily jumped to my #1 spot in terms of favorite game, it has great characters, story, music, graphics, gameplay... I don't know how one would go about making a greater game, it simply hits the right beats in so many different places, and it's so clearly a product of a lot of work, but more importantly a lot of love, not only from the director, Yoko Taro.

If you didn't give it a chance after ending A, or didn't play it at all, please do. It's the one game I can recommend without any doubts.

A story narrative reminiscence of Xenogears and FFT, Nier automata is one of the most memorable game of all time. A game brushed off as a fetish porn fantasy by many at first glance. It is game that resonates to those who are longing for a game that make you feel again.

The route B was offsetting as first since it didnt deviate enough fro route A but as soon as we start the game proper

The route B was offsetting as first since it didnt deviate enough fro route A but as soon as we start the game proper (yes, i consider A & B as prologue) then things really start to hit is off. Similar to anime where the first half of the season is light hearted with dark tones glimmered underneath the surface the everything start to boil up in the second half as wham moments come ini succeeding fashion that left me at awe.

It is not for everyone but a game doesnt need to be for everyone to be considered great. It delivered what it aim to. An experience we rarely see in games nowadays. Its art in our worlds current form.

    A great beautiful game.

Admittedly only did the one play through but it was pretty decent, especially the boss fights and stuff where you're constantly switching between different genres (top down shooter, side scrolling, 3rd person, etc).
Open world felt maybe a bit boring though. Would give an 8 but since apparently it gets better after the first play through, I'll give it a 9

NieR Automata: Beyond Gods Edition was a total shock to me with how much I enjoyed it. It takes a very solid experience for me to enjoy an RPG lately and NieR grabbed me quite well from the beginning and kept me entertained throughout. It's the type of game where I want to do everything that I possibly can just to make the experience longer - a type of game I rarely find nowadays. I went into NieR Autamata with no expectations other than the good gameplay that I usually find from Platinum Games, I went away floored with a near perfect action game.

NieR: Automata is not for everybody. In fact, the game looks to be aimed at the most refined fans of the medium by not caring about the regular gaming conventions, in the same way the works of David Lynch are perfect for the hardcore moviegoers.
