    Neverending Nightmares doesn’t go for the big set pieces, but relies on you to fill the gaps with your own imagination before unleashing some horror on you. Its slow pace combined with ominous sounds and music help to build tension in environments that gradually fall apart, as Neverending Nightmares masterfully gives off a sense of dread in its short playtime.

    With Neverending Nightmares, Infinitap does a stellar job of simulating the more common elements of nightmares, but shows enough self-control to prevent the experience from being absolutely wearying. Though the subject matter might be disturbing to some, this short, effective experience makes for one of the more memorable horror games in recent memory.

    It is a short but intense experience (you can easily beat it in two hours or less), where the best option is let oneself go and enjoy the 'ride'. As I say, the main charm of the game lies is in the artistic design of screens: with no more than three colours and imagination, Matt Gilgenbach's team manages to create an appealing pencil-drawn world of nightmare.

    In combination with the evocative atmospheric music, Neverending Nightmares is beautiful and horrifying in equal measure. As the author claimed, the idea came from an obsessive-compulsive disorder he himself suffered. Even if it were not true -which I guess it really is-, the mere fact of evoking such a distressful sensation is interesting per se. Last but not least, it is a nice message for people suffering from this kind of problems.

    thankfully this is only a dream,
    you wake up..
    or do you?
    You walk through the creepy hallways and doors to meet an end.. only to wake up
    or do you?
    you do this same thing and wake up…
    or.. you get the point
    this is a never ending nightmare one end leads to a new beginning, and you basically continue this loop until you reach the credits…
    This game will definitely give you an anxious feeling.. it sets out to do so..
    you feel trapped and frustrated.. and not because the game is difficult, but because of the atmosphere.. because of the whining and wheezing your main character does as you run…
    the unsettling music…
    There are some threats in the game.. some roided up babies and creepy dolls that will kill you if they catch you.. but if you die you just wake up in the nearest bed…
    Basically you open doors with knots in your stomach for an hour and a half straight
    just to get to 1 of the 3 endings that answer no questions and leave you even more confused…
    Seeing these 3 endings will add another 45 minutes if you choose to try and take a different path via nightmare select…
    but youll find this to be quite a drag and a chore coming back to a nearly identical experience..
    This is overall my biggest issue with the game..
    I understand the idea of a never ending nightmare that loops…
    but there is far too little change in environment and setting to keep the player engaged…
    you see the same handful of rooms over and over to be occasionally interrupted by a psych ward, or a forest…
    I could’ve done without the psych ward, but I wish more was done with the forest to change the monotony of the scenery…
    While Neverending Nightmares definitely feels never ending along your journey..
    its still an unsettling experience horror fans may find an odd enjoyment out of…

    This game is pretty good. It's not perfect but it does a lot of things right. The first thing you should know before you get this game is thatThis game is pretty good. The first thing you should know before you get this game is that it is an artistic statement on mental health and the dark emotions that go along with it, all set in a horror themed game. I really appreciated the art design, I haven't seen anything like it and fits some of the themes really well, I personally felt like every colored object I saw I had to interact with even though there are many doors in the game that lead to nowhere. I don't know if it was intentional or not but this aspect of the game really made me think of ocd and having to wake up constantly in to a new nightmare over and over again made me think of insomnia. So artistically I think the game accomplishes what it tried to do. It is also quite frightening with very disturbing imagery and atmospher although most of the tension seems to be caused by the unique art style which seems to fade away after you get used to it, but the game throws new things to be scared of as the game goes on and keeps you on your toes since you have to avoid the new enemies you see but each one has a different way of avoiding them. That's everything I really liked about the game, but unfortuently there are many place where the game falls flat. Even though I like how you have the urge to click on every door handle without the doors actually leading anywhere, once you begin to understand that, these moments loose are there tension and begin to become annoying and tedious especially when you find yourself in a room you have seen many times before. That game also feels way to short, I think I finished it within an hour. The gameplay is overly simple as well, you can walk, run and interact, that's it. It's disappointing because the game looks so cool and has a lot of interesting ideas but the gameplay just doesn't match up making it feel even duller. It's not a bad game, but it's definitely not for everyone, those who are easily scared will probably be really scared playing this game, and for those who enjoy aritsic games may appreciate this as well, but anyone in between might not get much out of it… Expand
