    Zero innovation in fighting mechanics, slightly worse performance than MK X, boring characters and predictable story. The backgrounds are the only interesting thing here. You can safely pass this one up.

    No legacy costumes. Unlocking things is an insane grind. Injustice 2 was much more generous with it's unlocks. It might have been RNG but at least you were constantly rewarded. MK11 feels like it's going down the Ubisoft / EA path to the dark side... and the political fight dialogue doesn't enhance the experience at all. It just feels tacked on. Totally takes me out of the world of MK. NotNo legacy costumes. Unlocking things is an insane grind. Injustice 2 was much more generous with it's unlocks.     OK, so I was really waiting for this game to come out, bought Premium Edition and.... I have to say I feel cheated. There are some good sides as nice and as big character roster as in previous games, no x-rays, but there is not many more good things.
    - Gameplay feels less fluid than in X
    - Microtransacions and pay walls everywhere, you will need to spend some serious time if you want to    OK, so I was really waiting for this game to come out, bought Premium Edition and....     - Pity they didn't implement gear mechanics from Injustice 2... and all the cosmetic changes are mostly only colour change. Whoever was designing costumes did a veeery bad job.

    In future it could easily go full Black Ops 4 style with micro-transactions. All grindy systems from mobile games are here, just waiting for reviewers to go quiet and be monetized by selling skip option

    This Game is very dissapointed Story is very good Gameplay too and Fatalities look awesome ,but the game has a loot of grinding and loot boxes and lack of game modes, Towers of time is a Copy and Paste of MKX. I REALLY MISS THE OLD DAYS WHEN MK WAS MADE BY MIDWAY.

    -You have to have internet access to play a good 75% of the game, you can't even unlock items without the internet.
    -Towers of Time are ridiculous
    -Items in the Krypt are entirely random. Meaning you may need to open 600 chests, beat the story mode, beat a bunch of Towers of Time before you find the one item you are looking for.
    -Microtransactions.

    I am fed up with games where after paying $60 I only get half of it. Yes, I love the kombat, graphics, story line, but I realized I was playing not for the fun, but to grind for the extra content hidden in micro transactions. This is not only the publisher's fault, but developers are equally responsible. I am more disgusted on the developers than the publishers to be honest.

    Combat (Kombat?), is utterly clunky, most the time you press buttons, nothing will even happen barring a basic punch/kick. Some combos seem unusually and extremely impossible to pull off. Krushing Blows are horrendously out of context (clearly undisputable lethal moves don't kill opponents). There are tons of fighting nuances, many are extremely twitch-precision to have much chance to achieve. Fatalities in many cases can just look ridiculous and unstylish (this game doesn't take itself seriously nearly enough)
    Short of 2 professionals going at each other with probably at least 20 hours of training each will leave you with matches that don't exhibit any entertaining or exhilarating martial-arts filled fights with oddball moves and some cutscene brutal attacks.
    Expect every local fight from real players you watch to be paused 100 times so players can re-review combos, specials n fatality button controls

    The rest of the game seemingly, in short. Story mode IMO is terrible. Every character is the same. Pompous, emotionless meat heads. Nearly all cutscenes just the next excuse to set up the ensuing fight. Absolute waste of full motion video and my drives GB's (so far in my couple hours play)

    Games all round learning curve seems to be an absolute vertical wall, with the game offering diddly squat upfront assistance to the absolute trillions upon squillions of menu's, options, modes. Much can be figured out with time naturally. But features like character customisations are again, extraordinarily nuanced beyond measure so unnecessarily. Many skins are repeats, characters could have done with far fewer options, offering all round vastly more varied character visual styles. The design here is purely to encourage grind play in the alternate modes. Which lo and behold, the whole games currency features reside online. Expect never ending server updates, server fails resulting in the delay of your rewards etc...

    nigh-on 3 decades of the same game being iterated, and this is the best that could be done. Mortal Kombat 1 was the pinnacle of it's new n unique design, with many improvements that followed shortly after.
    Since those early days, this game has barely evolved an inch with a mish mash of changing ideas that the devs can never get right.

    Mortal Kombat is a brutal violent , martial arts based franchise. This game should cut the corny jokes, focus far more on stylised martial arts for it's story imagery and in game mechanics (vs oddball, clunky hit-patterns and often novelty style attacks).

    Mortal Kombat 11 is a good game, but I have never played it. It will probably get a good user score though, because it isn't on the Xbox One. The grinding and microtransactions and grinding are bad. I'd recommend it but the reviews are bad so i'll go along with it.

    1. Women are all covered up like muslims, according to devs "datz more mature and rizpectful", since when more clothes=more respectful? When you go to the beach and see all the women in bikinis, do you disrespect them? No, that's BS... "but but u dont fight in bikiniz", really? what about UFC? Also what about male characters? They show a lot of skin, that double standard is very hypocrite. Just say the truth man, they made the characters unattractive so the landwhales who play the game don't get jealous.

    2. Also devs: "people who critisize the game are not real fans", just because we are fans of a franchise it doesn't mean we have to eat all the excrement you expel from your anus. If you ruin your own franchise we won't support you.

    3. Microtransactions are awful, it looks like a cashgrab mobile game.

    4. Shao Kahn saying "make the Outworld great again", really? now we have politics in MK? That garbage reeks of arrogance and I guarantee cost the developer sales. Thing is- they had to know this, and the did it anyway. This is self-righteousness and virtue signaling on a whole new level.

The Towers of Time is the main mode to actually have a chance at unlocking anything and even then, the challenges are so ridiculous and unfair, it is not fun, you need consumables or skip tokens to get through some challenges because of unblockable projectiles that constantly fire, tagged in opponents that hit in unison with the AI(can't block low and high at the same time), stun lock auras that just freeze you in place over and over, and AI with ridiculous health and damage boosts on top of it. There aren't many actual microtransactions yet, but this is why we all see them coming. No one who played that would think it was ok unless they want to frustrate you into buying skip tokens and consumables so your AI can farm the towers(no one wants to play them). And the Krypt, again, there is no logical explanation for this but future microtransactions. You usually get between 50-300 coins per match, most coin chests cost between 3000 to upwards of 25000 coins... You don't have to be a genius at math to see the issue, especially since most have art, or augments(which you can't use until you level gear you're never gonna unlock, and leveling also takes an eternity). Souls are used for chests, lanterns, unlocking map sections and the blindfold drains them just to add insult to injury. You get 10 souls per match, chests cost 50, lanterns cost 200-250, and they usually have nothing of worth(I got 1 consumable from a 250 soul lantern), and soul locks are by far the most common, and the blindfold drains them, but you need to use it to find hidden paths to more chests. But hearts are by far the worst, heart chests are the only ones that actually have good things in them, a flaming chest need to be doused by finding the lantern for it, then costs 100 hearts, the helmet chests cost 250 hearts, you get 1 heart if you win a match and perform a fatality... So not only do you have to play 250 matches to unlock 1 chest, you also need to win every one and do a fatality. Or instead of all this, just buy the gear you want with real money in the rotating premium shop, because it would take the elixir of immortality for you to live long enough to put the time in to unlock all the gear for your character in this game, and you can't even do it on the go with Switch, you get nothing if you're offline and lose all Tower of Time progress. So you decide, are they greedy liars waiting to put in microtransactions, or are they just massive idiots that somehow didn't see the issue with all of this?… Expand

The towers are grindy as hell, to force you to buy the items they sell and the towers are the only way of unlocking skins, fatalities, brutalities rather than buying for five **** dollars each. And most skins are awful, with just colored versions of the standard. Exactly what you read, a Red Kitana costs five dollars. And this game has lootboxes disguised in the Krypt. In a game that costs $60? Really, Netherrealm?

    The gameplay and graphics are excellent and brutal. The animations are great. The new mechanics are interesting. The story mode is ok, nothing spectacular, but it's better than the embarassment we saw in MK X. Popular characters are missing like Mileena, Kenshi, Sindel, Reptile, Rain, etc. When Cassie Cage and Jackie are still in the games, why?

    It's a good game, easily a 7/10. But I'm giving 0 in protest of monetization schemes and the SJW content, that's not what I want for the franchise I love since childhood.    … Expand

    I have seen a large change in other areas as well. NetherRealm is now including one-sided far-left political propaganda into the series, including jabs at a certain politician. I do not live in America, but even I can see how pathetic such a move is. Then the censorship. Since when has Mortal Kombat ever been about censoring things? The studio claims that it is to be more mature & protect women, but they seem hypocritical, given that the men are still scantly clad. Are men not worth protecting too? Finally, we have a racist ending, which out of nowhere changes a character with a personality established over decades & has him correcting what is most definitely a historic wrong, but he fixes it by committing genocide & forming an ethnostate based on race.

    Yes, the gameplay is still there, but you can find the same gameplay, but it is tainted by excessive microtransactions. I cannot support such a blatant display of one-sided political propaganda, hypocritical censorship, promotion of genocide & racism by a design team. Additionally, I have learned that the company has taken to copyright striking the on-line videos which criticise their game, which is truly an immoral thing to do. NetherRealm & Warner Bros. have lost their way & have turned what was once a fun series into their personal pulpit to preach their cult-like political religion.     1. Если ты проф.файтер, то сразу отметишь убогие эксперименты с управлением, которое теперь перестало подчиняться здравому смыслу. Разработчики сделали что-то, чтобы уйти от привычной схемы в МК10, но улучшить её не удосужились. Теперь ты вынужден страдать от неудобнейшего управления, и что весело - изменить его по сути не можешь.
    Управляемость персонажем превратилась в попытку кирпича лавировать на ветру. Они настолько дубовые, насколько это вообще возможно. Если ты не какой-нибудь Ниндзякилла или СоникФокс, то начинаешь ломать пальцы дабы выполнить простейшие комбо, а еще проще нажимать таки всё подряд - всё равно в игре буферится не то, что нужно, а многие очевидные приемы попросту перестают комбиться. Особенно "порадовал" легкий удар рукой в воздухе, который в 90% случаев попросту не попадает по оппоненту, хотят летит прямо ему в голову.
    Кроме того добавлены какие-то извороты, увороты, парирования и вейкап-удары в просто-таки неприличных количествах. Теперь тебе кроме слежения за правильностью комбо-ударов приходится следить за буферизацией случайных вейкапов, которые тебе попросту нафиг не нужны. В итоге бой превращается в набор ситуаций "ты ударил - он упал, он ударил - ты упал." и игру в FIFAXX.
    2. Если ты просто игрок, то охренеешь от огромного набора всего и вся для кастомизации персонажей. Поначалу. Потом ты охренеешь от:
    - Необходимости всё это искать или покупать. А в начале тебе доступно всего ничего.
    - Бесполезности этой кастомизации.
    На донатах здесь основано всё, что только можно. Такое ощущение, что игру слили нам еще сырой, и половину доступных возможностей еще до твоей покупки разработчики будут создавать, так сказать, в процессе. Не отходя от кассы.    … Expand

    I am saying no to microtransactions. Understanding why microtransactions should be viewed by law as unfair business practise, understanding the harm that they can do and understanding why the gaming community is sick of them is the first step in solving the problem.

    An 83 avg. score by official reviewers? I wonder what kind of review copy they played. This game deserves the 2.7 user score it is getting at the moment. Ofcourse it's gonna be called 'review bombing'... I call it: realistic scoring. Microtransactions for every single thing in the game and online only in a fighting game... And finally I got a key to the tower where was a nice, good-looking skin. And what? Blocked by modifiers. I was almost crying when I was dying and dying and dying without being hit by an AI opponent.     And all this politics and SJW in the game. Favorite female characters destroyed. I said to myself - Ok. At least they havent ruined male characters. I can play with them. I closed my eyes to everything, that they ruined. But showing no support to players that are struggling with all this nonsense in creepy mode called - Towers of Time. That just sucks. This game is not gamers friendly. The company is not gamers friendly. They are all about politics and taking your money with microtransactions.

    I would say the game is around 7/10, not great, but not that bad. Animation still suck, fence punching still exist, and character walk cycle are still consistently eye-gore. Yet the core story and mechanic are sound. It's not Injustice level of bad, so if you are able to accept Injustice, you won't mind this game.

    However, it's 7/10 at 60$. Consider that the game cost around $6000.    I would say the game is around 7/10, not great, but not that bad. Animation still suck, fence punching still exist, and character walk cycle are still consistently eye-gore. Yet the core story and mechanic are sound. It's not Injustice level of bad, so if you are able to accept Injustice, you won't mind this game.

    However, it's 7/10 at 60$.
    Consider that the game cost around $6000. That 7 must be divide by 100, resulting in 0.07/10, so I would round it up to 1.
    Then -1 for all the idiocracy surrounding the bikini thing. If you think it's stupid why you put it in the 1st place? Don't go 'tradition' **** on us. We aren't idiot. Bikini warrior is added only since PS2 era to boost sale. Stop acting like you are on high ground within the hole you dig yourself.
    And it's always online experience, so another -10 point.

    In a "Beat-Em-Up" game no less. Need I say more?

    They honestly take 70-100 Euros from you and than DARE to ask for MORE MONEY!
    Insanity is what I would call that in general. Here on meatacritic I call it a "0".

    Special moves, fatalities, gear and consumables (pay to win) ... all behind a grind and / or paywall. Horrible! That's unacceptable for a full priced game. If this was free to play I'd look past this, but seriously, this is horrendous! I've made a big mistake trusting Nether Realms and pre-ordering a key to download, now I can't even refund :( Shameful ! Gaming industry has reached a new low!

    I say the same as the other guy:

    I just wanted one thing: Ermac to be in the game.
    He's not in, so the game isn't delivering imo.
    Also,all the microtransactions **** and the always online and rng based krypt is just....ugh...MK9 and XL were alot better.

I was dead set on buying this game when I first saw the trailer, but then I remembered Injustice 2. This game is everything that's wrong with gaming today.

    Leftist politics, disguised racism, and a push for microtransactions detract from an otherwise good game. I think it's a bad idea for developers to push their politics (on either side) into any form of entertainment, but it's absolutely their right, just as it's my right to encourage people NOT to buy this game.

    Sistema de monetización abusivo y casi obligatorio para conseguirlo todo. DLCs. Lo de que requiera conexión permanente para cosas offline es simplemente rastrero. Lo tenían todo para hacer el mejor juego de la saga pero estas medidas para sangrar al usuario son imperdonables.

    pague la version premium, este juego ya de por si vino todo bloqueado! Las recompensas no se justifican con el precio de los cofres de la cripta, toda esta hecho para terminar pagando por la moneda del juego! es una Burla! Gameplay es bueno y divertido, pero no merece mejor nota hasta que mejoren el sistema de progresion del juego. UNa lastima. El mejor sigue siendo MK9 sin duda.

    La comunidad está harta de tener que pagar por un juego con precio de triple A que debería estar completo, para luego encontrarse con un juego lleno de micropagos y de contenido recortado y que encima quieran cobrarte aún más por dichos contenidos.

    If is the eleventh installment really is the last Mortal Kombat for at least some time, then the developers part with it with dignity. Large number of fighters, great possibilities for editing them and great gameplay make the game one of the best fighter games of recent years. [Issue#295]
