    I was really looking forward to MK11! So disappointed now.
    I would have never expected that Mortal Kombat -- of all games! -- would be ruined by a SJW agenda. But that is precisely what happened! The female characters look like the developers intentionally made them ugly, not to mention their feminist-approved outfits... Oh well, will be playing Soul Calibur 6 and Dead or Alive 6 instead.    I was really looking forward to MK11! So disappointed now.

    It is a shame the developers didn't get woke on that exploitive grind system. No instead instead the creators laughably complained about the women’s previous sexy outfits as "immature/impractical", but hypocritically the men are still as sexualized. Yup showing plenty of sexy male skin in impractical/immature sexy male outfits. Well at least gay men and straight women have got something raunchy and sexy to look at. Feel free to feel privileged for sure, because you are in this game unlike the rest of us with all that male skin on offer and show.

    I don't think this is the woke hill the developers will die on. I think the grind and casino will kill this game instead. Then again whales are thing so, but the average consumer best maybe worth avoiding until a massive sale. The grind seems so dialled forward that maybe it well could be just one of those marketing tricks? Like to lower the grind later to get some good PR and set the grind at the level they really intended to profit off anyway.

    On a side note I have to ask how butt hurt and triggered do you have to be about Donald Trump winning in 2017? That salt is still flowing with the "Make Outland great again" jibe in 2019 by of all people a villainous MK ruler. Seems like some sore and bad losers on the development team.     I remember the days when you paid for a game...and received the full game! Instead, we now have an unscalable grind wall unless we want to pay even more in microtransactions. Somebody needs to say bye to Boon and make Mortal Kombat great again, because it's fallen way too far.

    The only redeeming factor was the story mode (Konquest) and that wasn't as good as previous entries into this once great series.

    Scummy progression system designed to push microtransactions.

    In order to progress in the game you have to grind your way through boring, almost-impossible to beat towers, filled with unblockable homing projectiles. The gear level-augment system is random, frustrating and time-consuming.

    Why all of this takes place in a fighting game escapes me.

    The story of this game is not the Mortal Kombat anymore ,so disappointing . the new characters are awful . where are the old characters????? where is onaga ??? hope that this will be a good lesson for ED Boon , to pay attention to the Traditions.

    Skins, Gear, Artwork, Taunts, Intros, Outros, Fatalities, Brutalities etc are all locked mostly.
    Now the cosmetic stuff is not necessary to enjoy the game, but the latter two are essential of any MK    The game itself is great. Story is good and fun, the gameplay is smooth and every character is cool, the graphics are amazing, but there is a big "BUT" and thats the grinding for things.
    Skins, Gear, Artwork, Taunts, Intros, Outros, Fatalities, Brutalities etc are all locked mostly.
    Now the cosmetic stuff is not necessary to enjoy the game, but the latter two are essential of any MK game. And if you have to unlock 1 of 2 fatalities, and 4 of 5 Brutalities, then thats bad. But if its locked so unfairly that its impossible to get, then its frustrating and hindering enjoyment of the game.
    Let me give you an example with unfair. Lets say you have to defeat Raiden for a cool Item you want and another Fatality for your fav character (its randomized but for the sake of this review lets assume its exactly for the character you want). You have to defeat Raiden twice to get that stuff. But these are his attributes:
    -6 times more life than you
    -makes more damage than you
    -calls a tag team partner which makes quick immediate damage to you
    -its raining acid in the arena which damages you constantly and is unavoidable
    -if you stand near Raiden for more than a second you get electrocuted and paralyzed

    Its impossible to beat him, and therefore to get the gear you want or even enjoy the MK essential things like fatalities to the fullest. Its a shame, and frustrating, obviously there to make you spend more money on the game you already paid a lot for. If it would be only cosmetics ok whatever, but the other stuff is important.

    the game just isnt good, the animations are wonky, the voice acting is subpar and the story leaves much to be desired. This all not even mentioning the **** tier hero pool and the trash hit reg. Im thankful I can return this **** ASAP because its such a disappointment compared to 9 and the anti consumer DLC pratices just Ice the cake on the entire fiasco.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story mode is a disappointment because of a few reasons. One is the unnecessarily level of feminism in it. The moral advantage is lopsidedly on the female side in fights where both genders participate. Other problem is too much spec.force chapters, less interesting kharakters. I hoped for an Erron chapter, but he was more ignored than in MKX. I was also disappointed with the lack of screentime of the Colletor. It should be easy to make chapters from viewpoint of the opponents at least when they have the temporary upper hand. Its boring to fight the same boring kharakters in story mode.
    I've got mixed feelings about the new kombat system. The new meter system is a backstep, but I liked how this game is not so execution heavy, and more casual friendly.

This is also the first ever feedback review I have even taken the time to write as my free time is valuable, as I am sure yours is also. It would be nice if a AAA game developer recognized this rather than exploiting it.

It would have been nice to see more variety, some past MK characters that haven't been playable in over a decade. Fujin was heavily requested since MK9. He missed being in TWO DLC packs for MKX despite fan outcry, and yet again is not included here. But we get Sonya, Kano, Johnny, Kung Lao, et. al. for the 10th+ time. It's such a "safe" and boring roster that there's nothing to make it stand out from the last two games. Ed Boon said at reveal this game would be "packed full of fan favorites" but unless after 25 years you are craving to play more Sonya and Johnny and somehow haven't gotten tired of them then I'm not seeing it.

    Bad roster is one thing, maybe DLC will "fix" it. Tthough if characters like Fujin DO make it as DLC that's almost just as bad since they should have been base roster to make it more diverse and side-line Sonya/Kano/etc to a DLC slot. Plus it just looks like easy milking of the fans since NRS KNOWS Fujin/others are in high demand but purposely didn't include them only to maybe sell later? But it's impossible to ignore the current controversy about how MK has become politicized. I'm not going to dwell on specifics since the news is everywhere, but I'm firm on my stance that video games should be purely a form of entertainment, not a platform to push current political agendas. Start doing that and games just become another tool for propaganda. NRS is based in Chicago, has hired some new outspoken liberal writers to their staff, and it really shows in the final product. I play video games to get away from life's problems, they're an escape from reality, not a place to have political views (liberal OR conservative) shoved in my face, or trying to "guilt" me into feeling a certain way. MK has never been about this kind of thing but this time they have made it way too blatant to simply overlook as coincidence. There is obviously some hostility the staff feels toward the current climate in America but their personal beliefs should be kept out of a work of a fiction and a form of recreation. There are more appropriate mediums for them to express their dislike rather than forcing it in a Mortal freakin' Kombat video game of all places. Very sad to see MK reduced to this.     -The entire game must be online at all times, (yes, even the campaign). And when the servers disconnect, you guessed it, you will be losing progress and/or settings. Getting booted offline will cause the game to crash, even when you are not playing online.
    -The game makes an attempt at feeding you SJW garbage such as; virtue signaling about womens' clothing in a game about murdering each other, blatantly trying to force political agendas on you in certain parts of certain endings along with some parts suffering from tasteless writing that just makes you raise your eyebrows.
    -This is a 60 dollars game, yet they have a store with micro-transactions being offered to the player in the menu.
    +The combat is somewhat fun and solid, but the overall horrible decisions from the publisher/developer makes it hard to find the positive features in the game. (because there is hardly any)

    If you enjoyed the SP part (Multiverse) from Injustice 2 ... don't expect the same here. It's far worst along side impossible grinding mechanics with minimum rewards. I'm hopping this will accelerate the release of the complete edition along side with a new grind system. Overall game play and all it doesn't justify the full price.

Being a long time fan, playing since 1997, starting with MK3 on my friend's Sega- I'm horrified what MK has become. While fight system has been simplified and made more accessible than even MK9, which is still a golden standart in MK franchise, and graphic presentation is undoubtly top-notch, maybe lacking flash-n-flare of Soul Calibur VI or stunning DoA6 overall visuals - everything is marred by disgusting grind and horrid microtransaction. Almost every exploitative tactic developed in the mobile market is present here. In the Krypt once opened chests (opened with real money, of course) can be closed - for money, and reopened again - again with real money! Holy smokes! This yet again proves that WB is the most appauling publisher in the business. They are constantly pushing the boundaries. Recently, only 2K rivals it, tying CEO's and other high management's bonuses to microtrasactions, meaning more and more and more of said microcrap is on the way. This already goes far and beyond the meaning of "unacceptable". How long will this continue? I'm not even metioning SJW pandering - this small but extra vocal "community" that even doesn't play this game, still demands censorships and whatnot. This disgusting female characters redesign, female-oriented fights, idiotic political references, heretic Wakanda-styled Jax storyline - that one, in particula,r pissed me off to no end... My God, why the hell gaming is being sucked out of the fun? MK11 is the first true example of a seriously financed, AAA title that openy does that - sucking the fun out of our gaming. I cannot recommend this game for a purchase. We have the character designer saying that “ you wouldn’t want to fight half naked” as justification for the female characters being in full body armour, despite the fact most of the men are wearing only loincloths; which even goes against the canon of the character of Scarlet, who needs her enemy’s blood to make contact with her to gain power.

    I believe that a game that inherently doesn’t have anything to do with politics shouldn’t force to, because as we’ve seen, it has brought the ratings down.

    On a separate note, I’d like to say, that I’m fine with reusing resources, but the fact that Kabal’s fatality is a direct ripoff of the Flash’s super in Injustice 2 felt extremely lazy on NetherRealms’ part.

    The game also felt oddly rushed, we got a new character reveal every day, which isn’t that great for hyping up the fan base, and the story was left with inconsistencies that felt really weird. I get no one plays these games for the story, and it is a massive improvement from previous entries, but it felt incomplete.

    TL;DR: The game forces politics where it shouldn’t, uses micro transactions that can cost up to 6000$ feel like a profoundly inept move from the team at NeatherRealms Studio. Still love Ed Boon but this felt odd.    … Expand

    If is the eleventh installment really is the last Mortal Kombat for at least some time, then the developers part with it with dignity. Large number of fighters, great possibilities for editing them and great gameplay make the game one of the best fighter games of recent years. [Issue#295]

    Like the grisly cutscenes, Mortal Kombat 11 is fun as long as you don't think too hard or look too closely at it - but that's exactly where the real joy is found in a fighting game. If Mortal Kombat wants to elevate itself, it's time to start overhauling the skeleton underneath all that flesh. [Issue#333, p.110]
