I suppose the best way to describe Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is as a finishing move of its own. Though, it’d be a Friendship, rather than a Fatality. It’s in many ways a means of NetherRealm showing appreciation for the series’ history. The free additions pay tribute to the past by bringing back old moves in a gorgeous way. The paid elements give two more classic fighters a chance to return, Robocop a chance to dole out justice, and an even better capper to a story that gives returning fighters who showed up as DLC a place in the story. It’s all handled incredibly well and, to be honest, even people who just come back to the game for the massive free update and its balance updates and additions will be more than satisfied.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection is a great re-release, including an interesting additional story that expands the game world and adds three cool characters, as well as a full “battle set” with six new fighters. All of them have their own unique features and are aimed at different audiences. The new chapters of the story are well-directed and represent a fascinating mini-series with breaks for gameplay. In addition, the new arenas, as well as the introduction of Stage Fatality and Friendship, will please old fans of the series.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath gives you exactly what you want out of an expansion pack: new characters, a new story, new gameplay features, and it throws in a couple of new skins for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Frost. As a package deal, if you loved Mortal Kombat 11, then Aftermath is an absolute must. It embodies what any expansion or DLC should always do: it adds and enhances the game without diluting or changing the original image. Aftermath adds fresh life (and blood) to the game and revitalizes that urge to hear the iconic words: Finish Him!

NetherRealm Studios continues to prove that high-quality, story-focused content in fighting games has an audience, and they deliver that in spades with Aftermath. With a bombastic three hour story expansion and three new fully realised and unique DLC characters in Fujin, RoboCop and Sheeva, this is easily the best add-on released for any modern Mortal Kombat entry to date. The $60 launch price-tag for Aftermath is steep, but the new content is undoubtedly tailor-made for long-time fans of the franchise and newbies who can’t get enough of the wonderfully crazy time-travelling, realm-hopping, undead ninja-filled mythos that only Mortal Kombat provides.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a fantastic expansion to the game with three fun characters and a great conclusion to the Mortal Kombat story. It's a shame, however, that they didn't offer people the option to buy the content individually instead of together at the steep price.

For accessible, deep, fun, and nostalgic-rich fighting, you’d be hard-pressed to do any better than MK11: Aftermath.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath brings a whole lot of content to an already massive fighting game, and makes it even better. A definite buy for the fans.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is a modern take on the "Game of the Year" collections that are common in the fighting genre. It has excellent new additions to the character roster and an even more twisted story. Adding that to the already existing content makes this package one of the most complete fighting games.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is the biggest update for the game yet. It adds three hours to the already epic storyline and next to that three great characters, Sheeva, Fujin, and RoboCop. Next to the new story and characters, the bloodshed can be varied in new levels with stage fatalities in a more peaceful matter with a friendship. The only real downside to the content is the price.

Ask yourself two questions: Did you love the Mortal Kombat 11 campaign and want more? Are you dying to play as Fuijin, Sheeva, and/or RoboCop? If the answer is yes to either of these questions, then MK11: Aftermath is a definite buy if you enjoyed the gameplay of Mortal Kombat 11. If not, then I’d hold off.

Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath succeeds in everything. The story is highly entertaining, the new characters are very interesting and even the free content adds much more to a game that already had many good elements. But nothing that can be said takes away the fact that Aftermath is expensive for those who already have the game. It is especially frustrating considering that there are more DLC characters in development, and that surely next year we will have a new collection that for $60 that includes everything again.

Although the steep price may be tough to swallow, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is an impressive addition to the core game. The new additions to the roster are (generally speaking) a blast to use, and the additional story beats give fresh life to some of the more colorful faces of the franchise.
  13. 80
In terms of the quality of the content, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a great addition to a genre that typically only sees smaller updates like characters and stages.
  14. 80
Aftermath expands on an already massive amount of content and adds an enjoyable story from the best storytellers in the fighting game genre but damn it's expensive.

It's definitely not a perfect expansion but it's still a very ambitious extra, that makes an already great fighting game even better.

MortalKombat 11: Aftermath is by far the best expansion in the whole fighting game genre. Detail level, storytelling and overall quality are all over the top, but the raw size of the experience it's still somewhat underwhelming.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a short and sweet expansion of new stories, characters and gruesome action that gives fans more of what they love.

Mortal Kombat 11’s blemishes have carried over to Aftermath yet they are far outweighed by the accompanying strengths that have also made the jump.

Netherrealm Studios and Warner Bros Games have done a great job, certainly higher than the old Kombat Packs, but once again the price is not exactly affordable.

The fanservice is very welcome and all three of the characters are interesting, but it's difficult to suggest buying this expansion at full price, unless you're a hardcore fan.

Mortal Kombat 11 was already fantastic, and Aftermath gave me the perfect excuse to revisit it. It looks great, it plays great, and for players (like me) who would rather not get beaten to a pulp by the savants online, dipping in for some drama and a few offline matches is hard to beat. The price is an eyebrow-raiser for players that have already put money in, but for anyone who enjoyed MK11 and wants more, this is a no-brainer.

All in all, MK11: Aftermath is a fun reason to revisit an aging game. The new story is enjoyable for Shang Tsung alone, and the new characters add a bit to the game. However, if you've been keeping up with MK, then the $40 price tag might be too heavy for the amount of content that you get. Once the price comes down, it'll be a worthwhile way to round out Mortal Kombat 11's story. You'll get to arrest evil sorcerers as Robocop, and isn't that what we've all wanted to do?

A compelling DLC for an excellent game. It's more of the same, but with new and interesting characters.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath story and presentation feels and looks incredible. It's a real testament of how the narrative in a fighting game can evolve. However, this time the content offered in this package feels lacking compared with its high price point. The new characters are worth it but more novelties and additional fighters are needed to justify the purchase. Of course, the free update for all players is appreciated.

As an expansion, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath features a quality addition to the campaign and three new characters that are mostly high quality. While quality should always trump quantity, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a case where the quality can’t justify the high cost.

While not revolutionary by any stretch, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath breathes new life into the experience in smart and welcome ways. With the exception of the average Robocop, the new characters are unique and brimming with potential, and the story content is a short but sweet trip through the world of Mortal Kombat post-MK11 - hefty price-tag aside.

Mortal Kombat 11 was always a perfectly fine game, and Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath gives it a few extra hours of story, a few more characters and moves, and not much else.

Despite a high launch price and few new costumes, MK11 Aftermath proposes three new cool characters, with Robocop as a guest star, a new pretty amazing cinematic mode.
  29. 70
A hugely enjoyable expansion that brings a trio of awesome new characters to the table, in addition to a rip-roaring continuation to Mortal Kombat 11's superb story campaign, Aftermath nonetheless struggles to properly justify its steep $40 price point.

But the Friendships, new stages, and new finishers are freely available for owners of Mortal Kombat 11, and the only content exclusive to Aftermath are the additional story chapters and three new characters. Though that's a very welcome decision--free is good--it makes Aftermath less compelling when considered specifically on its own terms. Mortal Kombat 11 remains one of the best fighting games of this console generation, and the recent free update makes it better. Aftermath introduces a couple of great characters, and the expanded story definitely has its highs, but it's not essential to your enjoyment of an already superb game.

The Aftermath expansion simply doesn’t add enough to warrant its additional cost.

The great content of the Aftermath DLC shouldn't distract you from its hefty price tag. Even though I've rarely enjoyed a Mortal Kombat story as much and the new fighters and stages are a delight for (old) fans, the price tag of 40 euros for just the DLC alone feels like the toughest of brutalities.

The epilogue is quite good, with an amazing performance by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung, but with only 3 new characters and no other substantial bonuses, it's hard to recommend with expansion to MK11 owners. New players get the deal of their life though.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath lets its villains strut their stuff in a fun epilogue, and the new fighters are all welcome additions, but an overall lack of content makes it tough to wholly recommend this expansion at its full $40 price tag. Those new to Mortal Kombat 11 can get a much better deal, but if you’ve already bought the game, this Aftermath may not add up.
  35. Jun 12, 2020
    60
Ultimately, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath is a decent expansion. It has a solid story and the additional characters are a welcome addition but none of it is as good as the base game. In the end, Aftermath just might be asking a little too much from fans.

If you know Mortal Kombat, you can smell the ‘twists’ and ‘turns’ a mile off, and though it’s great to see some underloved characters get their turn in the limelight, the whole experience underwhelms from start to finish.

£35 for half a Kombat Pack and a three-hour epilogue is terrible value for money, especially as only two of the new characters are any good.

If you're looking for more Mortal Kombat, Aftermath will undoubtedly satiate your bloodlust for a short period of time, but it feels overpriced for what it actually offers. Of course, your mileage will vary, but for now it's more of an already excellent fighter – just not much more.
  2. May 28, 2020
If nothing else, Aftermath is a must-play for both newer fans of the modern Mortal Kombat narrative and old-school fans who enjoyed the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. While there have been offshoot projects like the Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge movie that released earlier this year, Aftermath's story shows once again that there are no better tellers of the Mortal Kombat lore than the NetherRealm team themselves.
  3. Jun 1, 2020
Die hard fans of MK should definitely consider picking Aftermath up. The campaign is short but sweet and the new characters are fun to experiment with. It really just depends on your wallet.

Worst story we've ever had in this franchise. Pathetic roster. Awful single player content and progression with god damn RNG and failedWorst story we've ever had in this franchise. Pathetic roster. Awful single player content and progression with god damn RNG and failed concept of towers of time (lol someone actually thought that consumables and modificators is a good idea lmao). AI battle (no comments. A mode for those who hate to play this game so much that they let it play for itself. And I thought I bought a full-fledged console game, not a freaking mobile crap).

This game is one of the worst in a franchise right there with MK4 (just for different reasons). Year passed since release of this **** yet the game is still unfinished bullcrap. I hate developers of this ****ass game with big passion.

Totally overpriced and full of microtransactions. If you don’t have it, wait to the komplete edition or for a sale. The game is gorgeous, butTotally overpriced and full of microtransactions. If you don’t have it, wait to the komplete edition or for a sale. The game is gorgeous, but too way violent and quite absurd: all girls are full dressed and all men are half-naked. The script is decent for a fighting game, the combat is OK, not near as Street Fighter, but is OK. New additions doesn’t justify the pricing and almost an insult for the people who paid 100 bucks, because they (the studio) decided to charge like a new game this DLC. It’s a shame that a good game now is reduced to a money beggar, like a cell game. This was my last MK at day 1. Next iteration, surely I will wait for a sale. Not a good way to treat your loyal customers / fans. NetherRealm / Warner: You’re killing Mortal Kombat. A good thing: Friendship finishers are beautiful and they’re very funny. Full Review »
