Improvements have definitely been made to the match maker, and I no longer find myself continually pulling up youtube on my phone to make the wait more bearable, though there are still occasional technical issues. Combat is still the same and is definitely this games saving grace, though they could do to add more maps. The community is a bit of an issue as players demonstrate a certain amount of elitism (I'll get to that momentarily) and will continually dog pile a damaged enemy simply to get a kill, even if it means costing their team points towards winning the match. As mentioned with the community, rank seems to be everything to most outspoken players, you advance in rank by winning battles and can lose it from a loss (graded D to A). While this greatly encourages group play and for players to form/join guilds, it ruins the game for the single player who now relies on luck with reguard to weather they will increase or decrease in rank with their next match for as I've witnessed so far, a bad played could bring down a good team but a good player doesn't elevate a bad team. If you want to avoid this anxiety inducing issue all together I suggest you just hop into the quick play list, enjoy yourself, and avoid interacting with the toxic community. Furthermore this game falls into the freemium category. While balanced just enough that I wouldn't call it a pay to play/win it would more or less fall under pay to not get bored. This is aggravated in that you could pay $25.00 for a 10-pack loot box and get what amounts to nothing. While you do earn the tokens used to buy the loot boxes, this is at the rate of three per a day assuming you're completing all the daily missions, and kind of impractical. All this being said I really love the actual combat, so I'll give it a solid 7, great game play with loot boxes and a toxic community. Expand

It's......mediocre. The graphics are from PS3, the lag can be pretty bad, the controls are not the best, the guns have limited range (like...real limited....most projectiles don't go past 500ft), any weapon that isn't a high RoF weapon is impossible to aim and get hits with (just do yourself a favor and use automatics), the repair tool is a joke...takes 2 minutes+ to actually repair aIt's......mediocre. Speaking of boosters...they automatically overheat after every dodge, melee is 1 swing and a downward swing to end the combo....only very few suits get a 2 or 3 hit combo....80% of suits get one melee swing.....ONE. The mobil suits are level capped for game modes (you have between 150 and 500 "power level"). The game modes shift every 1 and a half hours and have power level caps (mobil suits have "costs" to use, and if one is too "powerful" you might not be able to use it simply because the "cost" is limited to 200 or less for 1 and a half hours). This can make it to where you can only play 1 or 2 suits for over an hour...which gets boring VERY fast. To make things worse...mobil suits are level locked. You have to be a certain level to buy most suits. Even 300 power level suits (which is VERY low level) are locked until Lance Corporal....and it takes a LOT of grinding to level up. You average 60ish XP per match unless you manage to be top player (I have yet to do this...it is NOT easy to do). I destroyed an enemy base which got us 3000 points (one of the biggest point values you can get for your team)....I was still #7 out of 12 in the game and got 3 kills that match. Another game I got 3 kills and 5 point captures and was 10 out of 12. You literally have to get 20 kills to get best in game (ok, maybe not 20, but 10+ and a point capture or two).

The game feels like a 2010 indie game. I love gundam more than any anime ever made. I own every tv series and e ery movie and I build and customize the Gunpla kits. I Love Gundam. This game is not the best way to praise it's long legacy. It needs work....bad. I never thought I'd say this but....World of Tanks is less of a grind. It's not "terrible" but it's not good either. It's just mediocre and when the West gets one gundam game every 5-10 years, that's not good enough.

It may not be the most technically polished free shooter out there, its the best giant robot shooter I've come across to date. Many of its issues stem from the peer to peer multiplayer and players that don't seem to understand teamwork. I want to like Battle Operation 2, I really do. I like the flow of matches, the gameplay is great, and I adore the large roster of mobile suits. However, every system surrounding that solid foundation seems to undermine it at every step. Maybe future updates can salvage Battle Operation 2's myriad problems. But, they've all these issues have probably been present since the game launched in Japan over a year ago; that doesn't bode well for anything getting fixed. As is, the state of Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 is inexcusable, especially for a sequel.

As clunky as it is, Gundam Battle Operation 2 is the most realistic and faithful adaptation of Mobile Suit combat.
