Sony San Diego eschewed developing splashy back-of-the-box bullet points in favor of refining an already great game, exhibiting a confidence that is itself quietly remarkable — just like this series' consistency.

That small gripe aside, MLB The Show 15 is an excellent game and the franchise still rivals FIFA and Madden for the best sports simulation game.

MLB 15 The Show takes the field with equipment, experience, and an improved network. All in all, gamers are bequeathed with a finished product that’s, universal, immersive, and also accompanied by a one-of-a-kind Diamond Dynasty mode that will certainly inspire game modes from now on.

The new and improved game modes make this year's installment of The Show a grand slam for any sports fan.

MLB 15: The Show is the best baseball game ever made. But we have said that before about its predecessors. Sony San Diego has been doing so well, it is hard to top their own games. We specifically love the upgrade in the graphics and the online modes that have improved greatly.

People looking for drastic changes to Road to The Show or Franchise mode, however, may be disappointed with this PlayStation-exclusive baseball sim.

Let’s be honest here, many of you are going to upgrade every year regardless of what is added or changed. For those of you that look for major changes before jumping on board, I do think this year’s changes on PS4/PS3 are well worth the purchase.

Other than functional online play, there’s nothing revolutionary about this year’s version. It does get to legitimately say that it looks and plays better than any other baseball game you can buy right now, but only slightly.

You might not feel blown away by The Show 15 with anything new, but you’ll be blown away once more by everything that this series has done right for so long.

MLB 15: The Show has enough subtle additions to gameplay and graphics to keep returning fans satisfied. Online issues have been addressed, there’s more customization and control than ever before, and the addition of legends will please baseball purists. Even if you’re a newcomer this season, look no further than this year’s solid entry in the storied franchise.

Spring is in the air. After the mishap of MLB 14: The Show on current-gen consoles, MLB 15 steals the show making it the definitive baseball experience, one that will cater to both: stat-hungry fans and casual players.

The upgrades and improvements are there but a lot the game still feels underwhelming, simply due to its age. Even so, it’s impossible not to recommend this game to baseball lovers, as the purity and authenticity of the mechanics and physics, engrossing Road to the Show Mode, and unrestrained depth can keep you entertained for many months.

For someone playing the series for the first time the commentary will sound pretty good. However those who do so year after year are sick and tired of hearing the same things and not having the emotion from the announcers to match the big moments. It's well past time for SCEA to make a change in this area.

With enough updates to keep you going for the next year, superb graphics and the ability to import your saves from the previous versions, The Show 15 probably is the best baseball game out there.

It's the under-the-hood gameplay improvements and additions that really make the difference, then; engaging in mental battles with base runners, pitchers, and even outfielders is a big part of the experience this time out. As a result, this is the best entry in a franchise that's showing no signs of slowing down – even after ten years of success.

MLB 15: The Show is an excellent recreation of the real baseball. There aren’t any groundbreaking new features that distinguish it from last year’s MLB 14, but some adjustments and some significant minor additions.

If you like the sport, this is a game that should be in your collection. Everything we like about baseball is included in it, with fan service in every corner. A technical game is always welcome, since it makes the fans to get excited as if they were dealing with the real sport.

MLB 15: The Show doesn’t bring any major additions to the table, but it does respectably tweak the most beloved modes to streamline the experience for pros and casuals alike.

As a baseball simulator, MLB 15: The Show delivers on almost every front, and it would be unfair to penalize the game for being too good, for too long. However, a good review score doesn’t necessarily mean that the latest edition is worth $60, especially to players who bought last year’s version.

It's still a hell of a game, but if you come back to it year in and year out, this season's offering doesn't have much of a spark.

While series like Madden struggle to create a worthwhile product year after year, The Show is fortunate in the sense that it has crafted a nearly-perfect baseball experience for several years. This year is no different and while that may not be everyone's cup of tea, the subtle improvements made to each new iteration is good news for baseball fans.
  25. 80
A topflight baseball video game, and in an era when we see far too many sports titles (and too many Maddens) that feel like roster updates, MLB 15: The Show manages to stay the same and be an improvement all at once.

The Show is still the best game in town, but that doesn't mean this year is the best it's ever been.
  27. 80
While still a fun and accurate depiction of America's pastime, MLB 15: The Show does little to move the franchise forward, and is hampered by the same recurring online issues.

This slow-and-steady approach to game design makes each iteration of the game comfortable, but it also makes for fantastic baseball sims that you can always count on, and that are always improving in subtle ways. In gaming, in baseball, and in life, that’s rare and valuable, even if it does make for a predictable rite of spring.

This new episode still is a great baseball simulator, but we think fans deserve a truly relevant step forward. If you own MLB 14, you should think twice, but if you don't and you like baseball, you won't find anything better.

The Show doesn't bring a lot of really impressive upgrades to the table, but that doesn't change the fact that it's still a really good baseball sim.

MLB 15: The Show smoothes out some issues that MLB 14 had last year. The graphical portion of the game is the biggest improvement with MLB 15 and something you’ll see right from the start. In addition to visuals, the game’s upgrades and additions in its modes, as well as some unexpected elements, make it a much better experience than last year’s title.

It simply looks and plays better than any baseball game ever has. That doesn’t hide the fact that the game also fails to innovate off the field in any material way. While that’s not a fatal flaw, there will come a time in the near future when its fans will demand new and interesting ways to enjoy its beauty.

The hardcore MLB: The Show faithful will welcome all the small incremental changes but the rest of us may be better served to wait another year to see what the team at SCEA San Diego can do to combat some of that franchise fatigue.

Baseball simulation became even better but I still think it’s not the best sport to turn into a video game. There are just too many nuances – how you grip the bat, how your wrist works etc. – that are impossible to recreate. [07/2015, p.61]

MLB 15: The Show is remarkable in that it adheres to a method of gameplay that's absent in most sports games. By privileging patience, attention to detail, and creating a system that rewards minor adjustments to the way we play (not unlike strategy adjustments in the real life MLB), MLB 15: The Show remains one of the only sports games on the market that not only has a distinctive and engaging look and feel, but also pushes an admirable ideology that, however subtly, explores how we engage with sports and videogames.

Because there's such a massive disconnect in quality between the online and offline versions of MLB 15: The Show, I'm really not sure how I feel about it. The former is absolutely awful, so bad that if I weren't a massive baseball fan already it would make me question how anyone could possibly like the sport.

It’s not a great option for those that already invested in MLB 14: The Show, in fact I probably wouldn’t recommend the upgrade. However if you’re new to the PS4 and want to enjoy a little of America’s past time this is one of the best sports games available on the PS4 today.

MLB 15 The Show is still good by virtue of the systems laid down over the last decade, but it has no ambition. Produced on third base thinking it hit a triple, it wouldn't even bother running in a sac fly.

Sony San Diego’s hardball sim only sees incremental changes this year, but several of them—particularly directional hitting—are welcome. The core game remains solid and even spectacular in places, but online remains a total joke.

MLB 15: The Show is the most accurate representation of the sport yet again, but feels more like a roster update than anything else, outside of a few improvements here and there.

MLB 15 The Show is a very immersive and exciting baseball experience that doesn't offer real improvements compared to last year's edition.

It’s weird when you feel so unenthusiastic about a game that you know is “good.” This used to be a series that I would never miss. These days, I’d probably take a long break from The Show if I could.

Load times improved 2-3x, online play less laggy, fielding is more spot-on and results in less of the haphazard over-running the ball. CameraLoad times improved 2-3x, online play less laggy, fielding is more spot-on and results in less of the haphazard over-running the ball. Camera angle after you hit a ball is fun and more immersive.

Commentary is very much the same as last year. Most of the animations - the HR trots, pre-game introductions, high-fives after HRs - are the EXACT SAME as last year and even years prior. graphics look the same to me. slightly improved lighting from last year's. still not a huge difference between PS3 and PS4 versions, for some reason.

Certainly a fun game, but little more than a roster update with a patch that improves lighting and fielding.

Great baseball game for sure, but I can't offer much in response when people ask if they should purchase this if they have last year's and don't care about the roster upgrade.

I guess my response is... they took a year making this and are taking advantage of PS4's power for the first time, and this is all they could come up with? meh. I wish sports games would attempt to change things up a bit. Madden and The Show have looked and played the exact same for the past few years despite the next-gen being here.

With a ton of new features, including General Manager mode, this game packs a punch. The gameplay style is very similar to last year but I am a firm believer in the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If you are looking for a huge leap in this department do not bother as you will be disappointed but if you love it, then you will be super excited and will be able to pick up right where you left off. If you are a diehard fan of Road to the Show mode, which is my personal favorite, you will love the ability to carry your saved game over from last years game and continue on your quest to being a future Hall of Fame player. If you are a baseball fan, you have to give this game a try! Full Review »

I really don't know what to give this game. I was SO SO SO excited to play this. I have to say... I am disappointed. But I will look atI really don't know what to give this game. I was SO SO SO excited to play this. I have to say... I am disappointed. But I will look at some good things too, but lets start with the bad.

BUGS: My first game a ground ball that is a perfect hit between the gap and the 1st baseman. The ball is looking to roll under the 1st base man's glove, giving me a base hit. But no, a miraculous bounce into the player's glove and there goes my first online game.

Diamond Dynasty: Now I am a sucker for these kinds of game modes, Building you're own fantasy lineup. But this game mode is nearly unplayable. It's different when your opponent decides to put down their controller during a game that has a time aspect to it, but baseball does not have a play clock or a shot clock, or even any time to it. After leading 6-0 coming into my half of the 4th inning and we then play a one person multiplayer game for an hour, all for 152 rank points and a bronze card. Fix it, if your opponent doesn't play for 5 mins, it should be an automatic forfeit.

Road to the Show: I love road to the show and especially the new carry over system. But the rookie showcase or whatever is still unplayable. God forbid you let up a run as a pitcher or hit under .500 you are instantly a late round player. How does this affect you're player? well you're potential gets a low grade then progression is unheard of with a D potential prospect, even though you play with him.

Franchise: Franchise is getting better every year, I actually enjoy it this year especially with the carry over feature. I have my all 90 plus overall Marlins team in 2018 back this year so I pumped to play that.

Save Carry Over: This is such a huge feature added, haven't seen any bugs in this feature but there is probably something that will come up.

Licensed Gear: I haven't really seen much of this because I haven't really unlocked anything yet, but I am excited for this.

I like this game, but it is about the same as last year. In the fact that it has digressed in some aspects and progressed in some aspects, but I give it a 7 of 10. Not sure what to think about this game so far, but i'm hoping that I enjoy it.
