Bottom line is that if you own a MLB The Show 2011 or newer, you don't need to purchase this one. In fact, this game is wanting in some areas compared to the older versions. If you don't own any MLB games then I recommend getting 2013 compared to all of these or if you need one for the PS4 that badly, then the 2014 is just as good. Into the next-generation on my PS4, I was looking forward to a new iteration of more improved graphics, added commentary and animation. But that's not what I got. It's the same graphics, same animation and practically the same commentary. The differences however, where bad in a way that they actually took away things I enjoyed in my '11 version and added things I don't enjoy.

I don't enjoy baseball trading cards; they're useless to me. I don't enjoy collecting useless items like rocks. Seriously, rocks. I also don't enjoy MICROTRANSACTIONS to help you level up faster. And I don't enjoy that it takes longer to earn points to level up in the first place thereby putting an emphasis on the need for SPENDING MORE MONEY. I don't enjoy that they took away my option to add my music into the game for walkups and relieving; but left me with about a dozen generic songs. And I most certainly don't enjoy the bland pitching style that they introduced at some point from now since the '11 iteration. Instead of placing the pitch, you just press "x" for the windup, and then hit "x" again for the release. It's like Madden NFL kick offs, except not as fun. And worse still, you don't start 0-0, but the game gives you a predetermined count of 1-2, or 3-1 for you to take over from. WTH? I'm the one who is suppose to be playing the game, not the computer. It doesn't feel like a realistic baseball game at all. In trying to steamline the game to make it move faster they took away animation of the crowd, other players and coaches. I want to see more cutscene animations of the ball park, and let me decide if I want to skip to the action. The Show just doesn't feel like a baseball game on tv anymore; which was what had the greatest appeal for me.

Also, there is way too many frame drops here. This isn't suppose to be happening! This game can't be any more graphically challenging to my PS4 than the "11 was to my PS3. And I never suffered through frame drops on the PS3. It's pretty horrendous and it's definitely a game breaker. In fact, I'm going back to my '11 because the newer version isn't any better graphic wise, and it certainly doesn't compare in game presentation. Cue up the AC/DC Back in Black song, boys! I'm stepping up to the mound to shut 'em down!

What I mean is... in Dynasty mode your team is pretty weak to start and coming from playing the franchise mode team which is good... It's just frustrating to move from one mode to the other because the players screw up so much and you can't do anything about it. It was impossible to stay interested.

The licensed gear is kinda cool but after so many hours of playing I have the same things I received when I first started playing ... you don't get any feeling that you are rewarded. In fact you can buy in game currency to buy packs of cards which might contain players or gear! wow! I spend $70 bucks on a game and you can't even give me in game upgrades without spending money? Without playing all the game modes you don't get lots of points to spend on packs of cards, very frustrating.

I rage quit a game recently because sometimes it's impossible to throw a strike... regardless of what you do. So I powered off the system and went outside. The game decides that next time I should get a reward... to strip me of the reward and make me feel bad for quitting. no reward for quitting. So then on top of the game screwing me over on pitching... it punishes my rage quit .... wow.

After the dust settles and you play a few modes... you will see all the crappy game designs and cash grabs. Wish I didn't buy it.

A car that looks awesome but hasn't had an oil change in 50,000 miles isn't worth its book value. That's the best analogy I can make for this year's version of The Show. Despite having vast amounts of time to get their online play corrected, there has not been a single fix to any of the problems that have plagued Diamond Dynasty the last few years.

-Don't take a walk or allow your batter to get hit by a pitch. There is a GREAT chance that the game will freeze at that point, disconnect you eventually, and have a 50/50 chance of crediting you with a loss (even if you were up by 9 runs in the top of the 9th).

-Speaking of losses, there's a small chance that even if you win, the game will credit you with a loss. If you're opponent takes an entire 5 minutes of their allotted pause time (far to much to begin with) and you forfeit their game that could definitely give you a loss as well. This absolutely inexcusable. I've noticed this seems to happen only against people who have clearly spent a loooooot of extra money in order to buy a roster instead of actually playing the game and trying to level up with skill (hmmmmmmm).

-Want to exploit non-defensible advantages in the game that haven't been fixed in 3 years? This game's for you! Tap that bunt button over and over and over again to get in the way of your opponent;s pitching meter (you know, like batters do ALL THE TIME in real baseball). Even if you're reported, the devs won't do anything about it at all. I'm not even sure why they bothered making a reporting system. Seems to me that time could have been spent actually fixing their horrible servers.

-Want to steal a base but are afraid that your opponent will pitch out on you because you always try to steal a base all the time every time no mater what what what? No worries! Just try to run back to first after you see they've pitched out. Even though you're halfway to second and your opponents catcher has a 99 rated arm, you'll make it back far more often than not. Yay! Realism!

-Man, wouldn't it suck if you didn't know anything about batting? If you didn't realize that it's all about guessing which part of the plate the pitcher may throw towards? And that if you guessed wrong and swung low but they pitched reallllly high out of the zone you'd probably miss the ball completely because you're golfing and the ball is at eye level? Oh wait......that's not a problem at all again this year! Just keep that left trigger held down and hit the contact swing button! Because if you swing with a shorter stroke and at the ground, that totally makes up for the fact that you're not swinging where the ball is physically at. Realism!!!!!! You'll get a hit eventually. Maybe even a home run if you bought a roster because that's what's important. Oh, and don't fret about losing. Because even if you lose, you'll probably still get a win.

After about 20 games and not getting one hit. TERRIBLE! It's a good looking baseball game with the same terrible game play as last years. Games just ain't made to be fun anymore. By far most boring and lamest out of all the baseball games ever made. It's going right back to game stop.

I've been buying the same game for the last six years, and though I like the realism, I can willingly give this game a zero, because I'm purchasing last year's game with a large patch. Nothing exciting and new.

Fresh new coat of paint covering many underlying problems that are still broken. Defiantly not worth the $60 price. Some good new animations, but some bad ones are still in the game. New color palette for dirt and grass that is not noticeable unless someone points it out. Same crappy player models from 2010. Worst part is that more then half of this game will be gimped once they shut off the servers. This "next gen" game feels like you're playing on a Playstation 1. If you want to swing your bat, you better press that swing button 5 second before the pitch comes across because everything is delayed in the game. Super laggy, I skipped MLB 14 and I still think MLB 13 is a much better, smoother experience. Don't waste your money on this game.

I don't understand why there are so many good reviews. The only good thing is the graphics. The gameplay is so choppy. This is the most frustrating game I have ever played. In Road to the show my fielders cannot field the simplest ground balls. the second baseman throws the ball about 20 rows into the stands when throwing to first. When a batter bunts the ball a foot or two in front of home plate, the catcher stands up and waits for a second... then starts to move.. by the time he throws the ball the runner is safe!!! are you kidding me???? I must have a messed up game cause all I see are people rating this game so highly. WHY???? MLB 2K was soooo much better. Personally I'd trade graphics for gameplay any day. I have broken 2 controllers cause this stupid game pissed me off so bad. The ideas are great but they don't work. Not for me anyway. Expand

Don't worry too much what cards you feed him, he can play any position, the Ultimate Utility man.
A surprisingly fun mode to play. The game makers promised a free pack of cards every 9 days of logging in,
after logging into this game daily for 15 days, I still have yet to receive the reward, a broken promise.

You can also create a Franchise using your favorite team or having a draft and playing with your picks.
The franchise mode is very playable, and fun, in the offline mode.
There is also an online Franchise mode, I guess,
as I have yet to be able to get into an online league.
Making a league(Franchise) online, is a labor of love I have tried, but,
have consistently struck out at due to its complexities.
So I stick to the offline mode, this is a big disappointment.

DD was to be the main reason for owning this product, but beyond the card collecting, the game is pure frustration.
The game crashes, opponents quit, I quit, the fun factor in game play of DD eludes me.
It takes 40 minutes or more to play a game, if you are on the short end of a blow out in the 2nd inning,
do you want to waste 40 minutes of life watching Joe Game Expert pound you into submission!!

This type of game outcome is common place, to some a 3 run lead in the 1st inning is the blowout handwriting on the wall,
and I not only cannot blame people for quitting, I have joined them.

Frustrating to the dominates of the mode, and with good reason they will complain.
I won't change and expect to see more "momento for quitting" cards in lieu of a real player card,
coming from the game creators following a "quit".
There are many other flaws to the DD mode that move people to quit a game, many are in game antics that exploit frustration.
The players you field in DD, to me, have little effect in a game mode that is much more about gamers skill.
The pitching is truly outstanding but is so overpowering to the uninitiated that it makes DD a no fun mode.

Another feature is the Homerun Derby on line, short in length and
very fun to compete with your "Miggy" against their "Stanton", but,
the game crashes as often as it finishes,
and results in so many "unplayed" matches, it is, in the end, an exercise in futility.

Overall the MLB15 is a big disappointment, the most playable modes are all offline modes,
and most are equalled or exceeded by minimal graphics games like
OOTP Baseball,or Baseball Mogul both PC games.

Never ever get these games. These are the worst video games I have ever played. This game glitches all of the time, it sucks, the players are in accurately rated and all this game does is cause stress. Also the MLB 2k games were much better but the show rant them out business.

For someone playing the series for the first time the commentary will sound pretty good. However those who do so year after year are sick and tired of hearing the same things and not having the emotion from the announcers to match the big moments. It's well past time for SCEA to make a change in this area.

Baseball simulation became even better but I still think it’s not the best sport to turn into a video game. There are just too many nuances – how you grip the bat, how your wrist works etc. – that are impossible to recreate. [07/2015, p.61]

With enough updates to keep you going for the next year, superb graphics and the ability to import your saves from the previous versions, The Show 15 probably is the best baseball game out there.
