I just got Minecraft dungeons and its amazing for a couple of reasons i will explain later on. So first off its kinda addicting to say the least, you can spend hours grinding so you can get better weapons and loot, and collecting emeralds. So in total if you are bored and got $20.00 plus tax to spare, got get yourself this game and get gaming!

There are no mechanics carried over from Minecraft - no crafting, no destructible environments, no ability to build structures - and many features such as The Nether, Mushroom Bios, Ice Bios etc are absent as well. Also, only a few items such as the pickaxes and fishing rods are real items from original Minecraft, ever other item is a new item made for this game, it doesn't feel like Minecraft, just feels like a Minecraft re-skin of a game totally irrelevant to the source game.

The core game has a lot of polish, don't get me wrong. Game is a lot of fun to play, and the enchanting system allows for lots of diverse play-styles and customisation. Levels although repetitive are fun, the loot system is well balance, good variety of enemies, great visuals and music etc. However, the game is tiny, the story is almost non-existent, the gameplay is not good enough to warrant a second play through and the fact that there is DLC already despite the small size is a real low blow as well.

I'm kind of just confused as to why this exists? If you're not going to bring anything from Minecraft except a superficial reproduction of its exterior then why even bother? I can't help but feel this is a cheap cash in rather than a creative spin-off title. Not a bad game by any means, but not worth purchasing I'd say.

We got a kind of shallow game without a good story, with rather bare-bones game-play (I found myself spamming electric-roll alongside light feather and didn't get a single-game over even through adventure mode.) and a **** ABYSMAL hub world (it was genuinely terrible and had nothing to do, there weren't even any damned NPCs.).

I really want to love this game, I really do. There are ingredients for a 12/10 game here, there just wasn't enough love put into it. It feels genuinely passionless.

Although I still find myself playing it... And I genuinely don't know why? I have no reason to keep grinding and playing this game like I have been. But I still keep doing it. Something about the cute and basic style of the game keeps me playing. I've beaten all difficulties on 2 characters now, and I'm starting my 3rd now.

With how badly I've spoken of this game, you'd be shocked as to why I'm rating it an 8, instead of a 6 per se. It's because of ease-of-entry into an otherwise unfriendly genre for new players. And how fun I could see this being for a younger child! The game-play is basic and simple enough for a kid to get into it easily (that being it's target demographic). And also a simple to follow story, one that I could see a kid really enjoying! I hope they do a follow-up with a longer campaign, and some more replay-ability in a mini-game of sorts! (Be it procedurally generated or whatnot, similar to a rouge-like)

This game has potential... It just falls flat on a few key things for me.

Than you for reading! Have a nice day.

Worst diablo clone ever. Focus on grind is insane. I would expect it from Blizzard but for game like Minecraft Dungeons? 5 hours to finish the entire main story and rest is just a pure grind. The difficulty is crazy to. I don’t recommend this crap, just buy diablo.

I wouldn't figure myself playing this for years but once every now and then with the kids, it's worth it!

The game itself plays good enough, but the item drops could be optimized (I had around 8 unique bows/crossbows and not a single unique sword/mace/cutlass) and the randomness of effects is somewhat disturbing because it prevents you from either upgrading to the same weapon type (which might have different effects) or other weapon types (for the same reason). Also Minecraft Dungeons has some minor issues with texture flickering and loeading times. They are not insanely bad but considering I run a PS4 Pro with SSD the times are not that fast. I encountered one bluescreen on the course of my playthrough and one game breaking bug which had me restart the level. Considering it took me around 5hrs with extensive exploration that is not the best ratio.

The world itself is nice and I was pleasantly surprised by the length of some dungeons giving you a great explorative feeling. On the other hand the game design does not feel well implemented with huge backtracks or different exits leaving you behind with that "oh no I missed something"-feeling. Difficulty progression is very strange. The beginning is very easy and the last two levels are way harder. The game prevents you to play on easier difficulties if you reach a certain level cap. Interesting, yet somewhat bad decision for people that need to tone it down.

Overall the game is a lot of fun. The different difficulties and drop modes are nice. The mechanics are simple but fun. It can be very well described as solid casual gaming. I still think the game missed a huge opportunity because it actually is very fun to play but an explorative playthorugh takes only 4-6hrs which is even for the lower price tag not enough to me. Mojang and Microsoft could ve started something big with Minecraft Dungeons but they did it half hearthedly or maybe just did a first test?

The game hub is overly simple, not many possibilities of customization and although the Minecraft feeling is deeply integrated it also misses out on the roots. You cannot build, you cannot craft. You are not able to customize much. The story is pretty flat too. There are no skill trees at all.

Would I recommend the game? Probably yes if you like a very casualized version of Diablo and vanilla Minecraft mixed together that will hold up for 5 to 20hrs depending on whether you go straight or completionist. I really do hope that they will pick up this concept and attempt to go deeper and provide a more extensive feeling to compete with genre kings. I think people will love it and people already will like this one. It is just way too short.

I gave it 1 point for the amount of minutes I played with any semblance of enjoyment. Really awful ARPG and if I was picking one for a child I'd try Torchlight 2 first pretty kid friendly. This game has nothing to offer and does entire genre a diservice,if this was your first arpg you probably would forever hate the genre. I guess if You hate your kids get them this.

    TLDR: trash

Wow, this game launched without any backup or cloud save function. It was incredibly fun up until the game crashes started happening regularly - first corrupting my son's character file and then my daughters. Restore from an earlier save? Nope - characters and progress gone! Could have been really good.

Are you into Minecraft? I mean are you really into Minecraft and know all the lore that goes with it? If so this game is for you. My expectations for this game were blown out of the water. If you have a friend or two to play this game with it is absolutely perfect to kill some time with. The loot is surprisingly fun to get, the levels can be quite challenging at times but overall it’s a very chill experience. Would recommend to children and people who aren’t looking for a very hardcore experience.

There’s plenty to like about Minecraft Dungeons, and at £15.99 on PSN it’s terrific value for a game that you and your kids could beat in a weekend. It’s not especially difficult with four players and the light-hearted nature of it all ensures Minecraft fans will find plenty to love. It’s just a shame there’s no sign of the Minecraft’s primary mechanic, which would have been a great addition to the overall experience. It’s a good laugh and as is so often with co-op games, you’ll get the most out of it with your pals/family.
