Weird controls which you have to learn all by yourself, the tutorials are next to non-existent. And the story, it's my first MGS game and they try to bring me up to speed with scrolling texts, can you believe it?
Edit: turns out, you really shouldn't play this before MGS V: Phantom Pain. All the tutorials that are missing are all introduced in PP. Don't get Ground Zeroes, it's nonsensical

I don't understand why the developers nudge you into playing GZ before PP by saying GZ is the prologue to PP. GZ is just a half-baked unpolished piece of sht.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are too many games (and also the real world out there) for me to play the same game again after finishing it. I might make one exception for "Black flag" but this MGS-game is definitely not one I want to play again to find another tunnel or some item in a hidden backroom.
It was extremely short and imho a huge waste of money.
    (Spoiler alert)
And the ending was not exactly rewarding either.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hearing Sutherlands voice coming out of Snake's mouth is infuriating. While there is an excuse for this in Phantom Pain, it doesn't fly here. Kojima used the same Japanese voice actor consistently. Perhaps this a cultural difference, but he didn't understand how english speaking audiences associate the character with the voice actor. Additionally Snake doesn't behave like Big Boss, but rather a selfish Sutherland who's creative input is to 'seem cool' not by acting cool, but by making other characters idiotic. The idea that anyone would follow this man is ludicrous.

If you don't care about any of that - MGS has the best stealth gameplay of all time, hands down, & this is an excellent demo for The Phantom Pain.

There was only one stage or location.

    Would you play it again?

No, I just didn’t care for the game.

    Any Complaints?

I thought it was really hard and there wasn’t much of an introduction or anything. It just through you into the gameplay and having never played a Metal Gear Solid game before, I didn’t know what to do.

How many hours did you play it?

I tried for a couple hours and I just couldn’t beat the first and only mission so I stopped.

I literally do not understand why this game is getting so many positive reviews on Metacritic. This game is utterly pathetic.

I would give this game the normal review that I usually do, but I don't think there's enough content to make a proper judgement. I'm lucky I got this game for free as a monthly PS-Plus game, because I would be feeling very ripped off if I purchased this game

It takes about 50 minutes to beat the game. It's literally shorter than Snipperclips cut in half. The 50 minutes of gametime are fun, which is why I'm giving it 3 points.

THIS IS A DEMO, MGS Ground Zeroes is an absolute joke, and may set a worrying precedent in the games industry.

If we, as consumers, support this kind of nonsense, it sends a clear message to publishers that they can charge £30-40 (at launch) for 2hrs worth of game! In no other entertainment industry would this be accepted. And all these positive reviews have missed the point

Graphics are good and the voice acting too. I spend most of my time hiding, trying not to be seen. Once I discovered that you can just run past your enemies and that they'll eventually lose sight of you, it was a piece of cake.

I've ever been a massive fan of the MetalGear series. I don't like the overly long cut scenes and ridiculously bad plot and characters, but I thought I'd give this a go. As a kid you would get demo discs on the front of magazines with one level from a game/s on the disk so you get an idea of what the game was like. I really miss those days as it was so fun going through 20 demos in a night finding out first hand which games were worth buying in full. Now we are insulted by having to pay for a single level just to get taster of the game.

Like I said, luckily I dint pay for it. The graphics, although very nice (technically) don't do anything for me because the setting, characters and scenery are so dull. Seen it all before. Military base, buildings, concrete, jeep, barrels, yawn. There's nothing new or mildly interesting to make the graphics stand out.

Gameplay is very weak, like a poor mans version of the now very outdated Splinter Cell. Controls are bad, weapons have less damage than pellet guns and enemy AI is either extremely stupid or knows exactly where you are? It makes no sense. Snake's movements are clunky and fiddly reminding me of the early Resident Evil games.

Snake as a character is laughable. Based on Kurt Russell in Escape from New York means I cant ever take him seriously as the film was so bad. The story is non existent and the map is small with little to actually do.

I cant recommend this game to anyone apart from Metal Gear fanboys who clearly get something I don't.

Of course that is why this game is out to help us with the open stealth style of gameplay. There is sadly a lack of the CODEC system which is kinda sad for a fan of this game since the original MGS. The graphics are great and the options for infiltrating the camp are pretty varied. There are collectables and some bonus missions to keep you playing for another hour and a half or so. But that is a problem in its own. The game is extremely short, even my sister who is not the best gamer out there beat the first mission in two hours and twelve minutes. In total it took her about four and a half hours to beat the game. It took me about three. So to sum up the positives are graphics, fun, and makes me really want the Phantom Pain. The negatives are animations on running, controls feel a little stiff, lack of content for price, and no CODEC. Also as a side note oddly enough when interrogating enemies Big Bosses voice is audio but the answer the enemy your interrogating is just text at the bottom of the screen. I got this game at just 15.99 American dollars which is better then the thirty some paid but still not as good as Dead Rising: Case Zero which was only five dollars and took me about an hour or two more than this game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. MGS GZ is not a game it is not a demo either, it is like a opening to a superhero show where the hero beats up other small time villains before getting to the main bad guy (skull face). There is no reason to buy this unless you are a hardcore MGS fan. There is no story here, you break into a base and you pick up Paz and Chico. You figure out Paz has a bomb and she dies jumping out of the chopper to save big boss' life. Then the credits roll. The overall gameplay is stellar, the stealth aspects of the game are incredible and the game is a marvel to look at (unless you look very closely at the walls and floors). The main mission can be beaten in a span of 10 minutes and the side missions are boring. All you do is rescue another guy or kill two guys or blow up some turrets. You have to collect various XOF patches to unlock the last two missions and it just feels like padding. This game is worth 5 dollars no more. While I am confident that the phantom pain will be an amazing game that will blow minds. However stay away from this title or wait until a price drop. Expand

I don't feel like I can give a demo that is trying to be sold as a game anything more than 0, What's there is great, but this was clearly just the first mission cut out of TPP (I'll actually go into a few points that show that this just the first mission taken out) with a few extra generic missions added in order to make people think it's an actual game. Now many people will argue that this isn't a demo but there's a few factors that just scream unfinished. First off, tons of features that were in older MGS games ( even ones in PW and MGS3) are missing from GZ (knocking, the box, hidding in trash bins, etc) now you could argue that they were just taken out of the franchise as a whole, but these basic features of MGS are all coming back in TPP which we have seen in the recent tgs/e3 demos, the second factor which was just a slap in the face from kojima, is that all the side missions are just the backbones of what you would expect to see in a MGS game like a retrieve intel, find target, destroy enemy base guns, and a full blown action rescue mission. I played Last of Us before this and have to say, that the stealth gameplay in Last of us was better than here. So it wouldnt have been a good game even if it was longer than 30 Minutes. But not only it plays bad, it also is freakin' short! After i've stealthed for the first few minutes and it bored the **** out of me i just shot all the enemies down and completed the main-storyline in under half an hour.

In essence we have paid for a demo, and yet there are plenty of hardcore fans that refuse to admit it, and because of them I am afraid that this wont be the last time we will pay for a demo unless we seriously boycott this game and start acting against these developers that think that they can make us pay for demos and beta versions of their games. Be warned that if this gets out of hand and we let Kojima get away with this all companies will ask for money even when viewing a trailer of their game.
The game itself is good, however the length makes it one of the worth games out there today, being only second to Rambo The Video Game.
