    A good game, with an interesting story, most of all I liked that the story goes continuously, Chapter by Chapter, no additional tasks(many games I threw because of the fact that I constantly did additional tasks, although maybe this is just my problem).

    Si te gusta tanto las tramas de mafia a lo Scorsese... este es tu videojuego. Qué disfrute, macho. Si se dejara explorar un mundo abierto tan rico como el de GTA, entraría en la cima del género.

    Love the story, great graphics, but theres a LOT of downsides.

    - No money. - Cant buy or sale. - Cant Manually communicate with peoples. - lack of interactivity. - No animals. - No children NPCs. - No Gunshop, you have to go to Vinny if you're out of bullets. - No Gangshotout. - You cannot replenish your health in free ride. - cant fast travel, or using public transportations such as    Love the story, great graphics, but theres a LOT of downsides.

    Mafia Definitive Edition is a game I actually liked, even if it is a lot easier and guided compared to the original chapter. I was upset about some little cuts but it didn't affect the experience so much, I can say I enjoyed it and it brought me back to the good old days when I used to play the original as a kid.
    The thing that forced me to remove it from my library is that Mafia    Mafia Definitive Edition is a game I actually liked, even if it is a lot easier and guided compared to the original chapter. I was upset about some little cuts but it didn't affect the experience so much, I can say I enjoyed it and it brought me back to the good old days when I used to play the original as a kid.
    The thing that forced me to remove it from my library is that Mafia Definitive Edition nearly killed my PS4 for good.
    From the day I installed it, the console started getting very slow and freezy and I couldn't figure out what was happening: I thought the PS4 was overheating, I thought the Hard Disk was too filled up, I thought it was a virus and so on. So I rebuilt the database, I deleted games in order to free some space and I even reinstalled the firmware but nothing happened. Two days ago I was checking out my USB pen drive where I put all my saved data and I noticed that Mafia appeared as "Uninstalled app" and it was the only folder to appear this way so I checked out the console as well and found out everything about mafia was corrupted. I don't know if there were problems during the download or what, the fact is that as soon as I deleted Mafia and everything about from the PS4, it started working again as it should work. I repeat, I don't know if the problem was caused by some error during the installation but I hope this is not a problem with the game itself because it is unacceptable.    … Expand

    Struck by such a careless attitude to the legendary 2002 scenario. This is much less than in the original. Except for a short cut in pieces, in all parts of the ruler there is nothing in the game. This whole city is banned from access to communication. It's a **** 2020 game, I fell off my chair...

    Beaucoup trop chere pour un simple jeux avec une histoire qu'on finit en max 9h/11h de jeux sans parler qu'une fois qu'on a finis celui la ont peux rien faire vu que le personnage principal meurt !
    Le jeu gratuit n'a pas de sens, vide et tout est fermé au joueur, les trains, les tramways, les magasins et le système d'économies d'argent sont condamnés dans ce monde.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mafia “Definitive Edition” is a very good remaster of the first mafia that I’ve played on pc ages ago, the only negative thing that I’ve found is that the story mode is a bit too short!
    As an Italian, the dubbing is great..you can clearly hear the Sicilian accent and the swearing made me laugh a lot XD. Classic difficulty isn’t even that hard, except for a couple of mission, ie when you have to win that race or where you have to save your mate in the farm.

    The many cons of this game include the atrocious driving and shooting design and utilisation. These controls are clunky, unresponsive and cumbersome to navigate resulting in many frustrating deaths. The game is also very terribly optimised (even running on a PS5) where there are some sections you spend more time watching the game load rather than playing it. Lifeless, one dimensional characters and terrible AI are very prominent throughout the game. The plot is a generic run-of-the-mill from any mafia/gangster movie that features the predicable "start from nothing, work for a family, become a key figure, there's a rat that betrays the family..." yada yada yada that's very non-engaging however it does include an interesting sublot of loyalty. Voice acting is also awful but not in a so bad it's good, just quite the opposite.

    The infamous Race sequence is god awful and horribly hamfisted and implemented. The appalling driving controls are too unresponsive and frigid to even be considered a challenge as it takes way too many attempts and time to even finish the race let alone in the winning position and quickly wears out and traps the player in a monotonous loop of weariness. Lastly, the Free Ride mode is honestly a joke with little to no incentive to engage with it.

    The one good feature I will dignify is the ability to customise the way you want to play Mafia. You can skip unnecessary drives (easily my favourite), Normal or Simulation (a mode that attempts to imitate real driving) and Police response/aggressiveness. Unfortunately, this game is still, at it's core, a bad boring experience of drive and shoot and drive again.    … Expand

    Amazing gameplay and story. The voice acting and script was so emotional and was much better than the Mafia (2002). But still nothing to do at all in the freemode beside going around town and collecting posters. As a long-time fan, overall it is a great game

    I love playing this game on Classic difficulty. It reminds me these good old days. I wish every Remaster will be made so good as this one.

    It is the Witcher Trilogy.

    The plot line in this game is awesome and it’s better than all Martin Scorsese gangster movies combined, imho. From the point of technical aspects this game is average.

    Gameplay isn't the best but it is serviceable. And the game does have some performance issues on base PS4 - - some screen tears and some fps loss here and there but it's not too awful, I guess.     This is a good remake, but with some technical flaws. But I hope they take this base, improve the engine a bit and then build up a new game in the same era from there, this has potential!

    Fantastic game. One of the best I have ever played. Amazing ambience allows you to feel the story. The plot remained, of course, unchanged and still arouses extraordinary emotions with the next actions of the antagonists. The difficulty of the levels is still high but more adapted to new players. In my opinion best remake in this year and one of the best in history of games

    I believe the devs should have gone less GTA/driving/open-world and more gameplay/story.     The infamous driving level is back here, I don't know if it is an homage to the original game or just a sadistic trick, but to me, it felt like an unnecessary and odd challenge. specially on the classic difficulty.    … Expand

    The story is really good describing with a serious tone the rise of a former cabby in a 1930    This game has everything I can ask for on a remake, a huge graphical improvement using the Mafia III engine, a newly recorded OST and a tremendous voice acting and motion capture recast.
    I also liked the shooting sections and the driving Physics of the old timers that somehow felt like GTAIV.
    The story is really good describing with a serious tone the rise of a former cabby in a 1930 mob's family in the fictitious city of Lost Heaven. All the clichés you can expect from
    a mob film are present and all of them work with well written dialogs spoken with dead eyes inside cigarette smoke clouds.
    A thing to point out is that Mafia is NOT a sandbox, it's a story driven third person shooter with driving sections inside a carefully crafted 1930's big city. You can drive inside missions but the city
    is not an open sandbox city, instead you can access it via free roam on the menu to collect the very interesting real pulp magazine while enjoying the radio stations. I would recommend to limit the HUD to the minimum via settings to have a more "realistic" feeling without the icons on the screen.
    The difficulty level by default is quite easy and the classic level it's much more enjoyable, although the infamous race will make you sweat and swear a lot.
    If you like this rare noir/mob games (L.A Noir, the Saboteur, Blacksad, etc), mafia definitive it's a must play.    … Expand

    it was my first time experience on the 1st mafia and story-wise i loved it and the performences were great, the sound editing on the cars and cutscenes,etc are great,i love the lost heaven atmosphere and cars in the 30's,music is awesome, graphics are really good(though i had some screen tearing on my tv)now for the negetive sides on this game,gunplay is too lousy and you just can't playit was my first time experience on the 1st mafia and story-wise i loved it and the performences were great, the sound editing on the cars and cutscenes,etc are great,i love the lost heaven atmosphere and cars in the 30's,music is awesome, graphics are really good(though i had some screen tearing on my tv)now for the negetive sides on this game,gunplay is too lousy and you just can't play without turning on the aim assist;some cutscenes also don't have proper lip sync, enemy Ai is not that smart and most of the time they don't know what they're doing,and i also experinced some bugs and glitches

    As Mêcanicas do personagem, das armas e dirigindo carros e motos são bem travadas. Principalmente a movimentação e a mira são bem lentas.
    Os pedestres e os carros reagem muito bem quando voce está dirigindo. Por exemplo, quando você está em alta velocidade e/ou buzinando os carros abrem passagem.
    Boa História, previsivel em alguns momentos e personagens esqueciveis, mas ainda assim    As Mêcanicas do personagem, das armas e dirigindo carros e motos são bem travadas. Principalmente a movimentação e a mira são bem lentas.
    Os pedestres e os carros reagem muito bem quando voce está dirigindo. Por exemplo, quando você está em alta velocidade e/ou buzinando os carros abrem passagem.
    Boa História, previsivel em alguns momentos e personagens esqueciveis, mas ainda assim envolvente.
    Bons gráficos, principalmente se tratando da cidade, toda ambientação e carros. Boa direção de arte.
    Os modelos dos personagens são bem fracos na gameplay, mas nas cutscenes são muito bonitos.
    Mapa confuso e mini mapa impreciso.

    A remarkable upgrade to an already classic game. A throw back to when games had no filler and were a thrill ride from start to finish. A gripping story that still holds up today. Well worth playing for fans of old or someone looking to try something new. The gameplay isn’t groundbreaking but the story is compelling enough to carry this game on its own.

I like the world and the city, they captured the 30s aesthetic very well in my opinion. I also liked that they put many real life references of that time into the world. I also find dialogue and facial animation to be on the better side compared to other games. Presentation within missions and the unfolding of the story feels a bit off at times. Shooting sections can get a bit annoying because of the controls, but nothing major. Never played the original, so I can't comment on anything concerning the quality of the game as a remake. The ending actually managed to get to me a bit, I'll never get over the fact that I put Ralphi in jail.

    In my opinion, this game works just fine as a kind of stand alone title as I've never played the originals and sparked my interest in the series successfully. 7 out of 10, played on PS5.    … Expand

On one hand, I was intrigued by the plot of this game from the start despite not really ever being into GTA style games, in short bursts yes but I’d be lying if I said I ever saw one of these games thru to the end before. But I’d also be lying if I said a full remake of the first Mafia still didn’t show its age in the gameplay department. The new visuals are very stunning & everything looks great in this game, characters, cars, the city, all great! But the shooting, melee combat, and ESPECIALLY the driving in this game feel like they haven’t updated it since it’s original release. Is it more realistic to the time period? Yes but that doesn’t mean it’s any more enjoyable. I don’t think I’ve actively despised driving in a video game more than this game, every time I had to drive during a mission, which is almost EVERY mission btw, I groaned out loud and had to redo objectives many times because of how horrible the driving mechanics are. It actively ruined the good time I was having almost every single chance it got, I almost gave up playing at a few points too. If I didn’t care about the main trio of Tommy, Sam & Paulie the way I did & wanted to see where their stories ended up, I wouldn’t have finished this game. Is it a little predictable? Yeah, but the ending left me feeling a little hurt, even if I expected all of what went down to.. go down. Good game, but I don’t think I’ll be returning to this franchise in the near future.… Expand

    Il combattimento corpo a corpo è macchinoso e ripetitivo rimpiangerete i combattimenti alla mafia II.
    Difficoltà a caricare le texture di gioco e calo di frame rate quando si gira la visuale in guida velocemente.
    Ottima trama nel complesso ma avrei gradito un po' più di accortezza nel comparto tecnico.
    Da giocare.

Speaking of the story it is fantastic amazing writing amazing acting and a crazy ending.     An epic game. Period. The game has characters that you can actually be interested in, a beautiful and lived-in open world, and decent gameplay. The only complaints I have are having more things to do in the free roam mode and I wished the game was a bit longer.

The game was at its height during some of the driving moments when you could take in the atmosphere of the city. The main character Tommy is almost laughably one dimensional.     Mafia definitive edition is one of the best remastered games I’ve played. The graphics we spectacular. The story was kept raw and strong and had some amazing gameplay. If your into Cinematic third person shooters and drivers with an impactful storyline this game is for you. Best remake I’ve ever seen in a video game over a decade old!

    Great game! Loading times get a bit annoying but otherwise great story. the game is very linear, you play a scene exactly like the game wants you to then there will be a usually 2-3 minute long cutscene. I liked that but don’t recommend for people who aren’t into that sort of experience.

    This is definitely a good example of a remake done right. Everything has been improved compared to the older version of the game. I had a good time playing this game. The only draw back for me goes towards the story jumps, where I don’t think the director did a good job at explaining what happened during in between these jumps throughout the game so the player is trying to relearn what’s going on, on the fly.    … Expand
