    Это величайшая игра, и величайший ремейк! Прошел на одном дыхании, точно так же как это было 18 лет назад! Олды, если вы тут, мы дождались идеального ремейка! Это просто шедевр!!!!

    I'm one of those people who beat original Mafia 2 times, gathered almost all cars in freeride. Original Mafia was a great game for its time.

    Remake hasn't reached that level of greatness. It's just a good 3rd person adventure game. Not bad, not terrible. Probably it's because I know the story and I suspected the same feelings as 18 years ago. I think with that level of graphics even 120 FPS should be possible FullHD but no - gamers should suffer :(

    Anyway I kindly recommend this game who never played original Mafia - at least the story worths to be go through.

    well... definitely recommended for someone who's played it in the past and feel nostalgic and would like to play it again. BUT, for any other reason stay away from it

    Somewhere they did it well, but many missions were changed completely especially some of my favourites like "just for relaxation" and "lucky bastard" and I don't understand what was the reason to change Tom's character, he looks like a badass gangster now which is opposite to what he used to be in the original, just a good man who happened to be in the wrong place.

    The game causes different feelings - the story and the characters are interesting and alive, but the technical side of the game leaves much to be desired, for me.

    But my score is 7 because there were much more good emotions while playing it: the atmosphere, the relationships between characters and etc. The gameplay and the graphics are really from PS4, so I think it plays the role.     The game has great graphics and impressed me for the time the original has been realead. But the plot is Very tragic, its just bang bang, and a táxi driver from day tô night is a professional killer. Ita a great game, but not perfect.

    Этим летом, листая ленту новостей, я вдруг увидел пост с анонсом римейка мафии и меня конечно же охватила сильная ностальгия, предвкушение и одновременно тревога за то, каким в итоге выйдет игра. А вышла игра — изумительной. Разработчики очень бережно доработали все неровности сценария, воссоздали невероятно харизматичных глубоких персонажей, которым так же сопереживаешь, как низкополигональным моделькам из оригинала. Классно доработаны миссии и конечно же сам гемплей.

    Дизайн города, машин, персонажей — восторг! Конечно же на старенькой плойке все это поджали в угоду оптимизации, но это никак не мешает восприятию. На мой взгляд, слабое место этой игры — стрельба. Возможно стрелять с геймпада не так комфортно как с мыши, но в целом перестрелки ощущаются как-то "картонно". Пожалуй это единственный минус, но камон, а в оригинале разве было как-то по другому (вспомнить нереальную отдачу Томми, если зажать из него спрей).

    Думаю, что игра понравится каждому в той или иной степени и попробовать ее должен каждый.    … Expand

    I was lucky enough to play the original Mafia on release day, and it served well during my PC gaming days, as a decent benchmark for hardware upgrades - from the Voodoo 2000 PCI I originally played it on, through to a Geforce 4 4400 I upgraded to some years after its release. I must have replayed Mafia dozens of times because of the hardware improvements, and it always looked great - even better on a ViewSonic CRT I upgraded to,

    I digress.

    This updated release pays a very close homage to the original, and though it doesn't have the exact feel of the old game (the radio music is sorely missed) - it does a near perfect job of bringing the old legend back into the current time.     Great story but frustrating gameplay. 2000s mechanics like healthbar are no longer fun. 25% of the time you'll spend just driving a car from point A to B

The story starts mediocre and continues to be the same until roughly halfway through when the pace is picked up and the stakes/tension rises. The driving is fine, the shooting is fine, and the game crashed as I was finishing the few side quests that the game has to offer so I lost all my progress.     Terrible gunplay system and controlling the aim.
    Sometimes when you walk freely in the city the sounds will disappears.
    Terrible driving and physics.
    Short story You can't do anything after completing the game there is no much activity you can do
    Again bugs are literally annoying Only the graphics are good.

The remake still tells you a good story. Still, it ruins the whole experience with the cheap gameplay, terrible driving model, repetitive missions (drive - kill some guys - return, repeat), and impressive but dead city.
    The gameplay feels very cheap. The character movement is annoying (it's like you are playing a clay soldier instead of a human), shooting is very 2009 - hide behind something, shoot some guys, go forward, repeat until you reach some point. Driving is not the experience you want to have in this game. I know the cars are from the 30s, but you are always riding a tank on the ice whenever car you are using. Always.
    The open city is dead. There's no reason to do anything there. You can't use the tram, buildings are locked, people are somehow retarded, and walk the scripted ways. Sure, you have collectibles, but looking after magazines in the dead city is nothing you would like to do anyway, trust me.
    Bugs, bugs, bugs. The game is buggy. The textures are loading in front of you. The graphic is really "shaky". And the worst thing is that everything is scripted to the point that the police car can stop in one place during the mission and disappear while the other will arrive.
    I can't understand why this game got so many good reviews from the magazines and gaming portals.

    Боёвка перекочевала прямо из третьей части. И это очень хорошо.
    А вот сюжет в отличии от той же третьей части, откровенно порадовал. Не знаю как было в оригинале, но сюжет целостный интересный и плавно перетекающий во вторую часть. Конечно о прям жизненной реальности речи не идет (протагонисту в конце дали, по моему, всего лет восемь, при том, что он собственноручно пристрелил полторы тысячи человек, включая человек 100 копов!), но тем не менее.
    И так, советую. Советую всем. Прохождение тем кто играл в оригинал подарит кучу ностальгии, ну и сравнить с чем будет. Кто же не проходил раньше, как я, советую. Получите отличную историю за разумные деньги.    … Expand

Unfortunately quite short, finished in 12 hours at 'Hard' difficult. Maybe they could try something more open word-ish. And seriously, they should remove race mission.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finally, the remake of the original Mafia is here. A game I have been waited for in over a decade. Now before I begin to talk about the much anticipated remake. Normally i would not give the score 10 if the game is not a 10. And as a standalone game it is not a 10. It is probably is an 8 or lower. But this story is quite special to me, which I will mention in the last parts of this review. Unfortunately there are some negatives I have to mention.
    The remake uses the engine from Mafia 3. It fits Mafia 3 but not this Remake, but I actually think the gameplay in the remake is worse. Enemies needs to be shot 4 or 5 times to be killed, and when you shoot them, they just stay and keep shooting towards you like nothing have happened. The wounds on the dead bodies are also quite ugly and don’t fit. Also when you are in melee combat, when knocking somebody out, blood is surrounding the bodies, just like if you had shot them. That is an annoying detail. However the blood looks realistic, it is just annoying when used incorrect. So the weakest part of the game is the gun battle.
    The loading screens when you die are really painful, especially if you die quickly multiple times in a row. That means you watch more loading screens than playing the game.
    The last negative thing I want to mention, which I don’t know if it’s a negative, is the characters new personalities. I am split on this one. Because I think the voices in the original game fits the characters more, than the new ones. Example is Sam. In the original he sounded like a loyal and made man. Now he is more like a boy trying to prove himself. The same with Paulie, in the original he sounded more brutal and serious. Now he is more of a laughing stock that nobody likes. But I think the more I progressed the game, I found the new personalities acceptable. Including Tommy, who was the most serious and brutal character in the beginning of the game, which he wasn’t in the original. I think it is because of his voice actor. It is similar to Paulie’s voice actor in the original where he was brutal and serious. But in the end Tommy stood to me as a caring husband and father.
    One thing that made me love the new remake was the locations taking place in the missions. I know them all from the original, but now they are all updated and made different, which also make the game quite unpredictable.
    Speaking of new things/changes in the remake, there is a lot of interesting ones. From here on out there are spoilers.
    One thing is the updated locations, but the story is also updated with some twists. There are 3 examples where the story either has changed or teases you.
    When Tommy gets tasked to kill Michelle, it is Tommy’s decision to not kill her in the original. In the remake it is Sam who begs you not to do it. This is the first twist in the remake, which made me think if the ending also changed (In the original it is a theme that Tommy can’t kill his allies). Also this moment made Sam look different as written before about the personalities.
    When Tommy, Paulie and Sam get tasked to pick up cigar crates, Tommy questions the priority of picking up these crates. It sounds too easy. In the original it is only acknowledge the crates contains cigars. Afterwards the crew found out these crates also contains diamonds. Salieri didn’t tell them. However in the remake the game teases you, because Salieri now tell the crates also contains the diamonds. Here I was quite excited how the game now should develop because it changed the original narrative.
    And then there is the dialogue between Tommy and Sarah in the last mission. Tommy is nervous because he is about to go visit Paulie. I don’t know if it was intended by the developers, but I was nervous too, because I knew what will happen when opening Paulies door. The dialogue of course teasing what was about to happen.
    To sum this up, I know there is a lot of talk about different things. I know reading this review doesn’t sound like a 10. For the most part I have focused on the negative things. But the mafia series means a lot me. The original Mafia game means a lot to me. I played it as a kid, and it was THE game that introduced me to how games tell a great story. So I have seen the game a lot of times including the ending, and when this remake ending happened, this is real, I cried, I really cried. It just hit me. I found the whole story and characters fresh when the ending came which also had some new emotional epilogue scenes. And then it topped with the lyrics in the credits “Everybody wants to go to heaven”.
    I am sorry this review had a lot of negative instead of focusing on the good things, like driving, the graphics, music, and of course a fresh feel about the game. But my love for this story really is the focus on my score. It is a story that has followed me for years, and I am really grateful to experience this story again remade, and when a game makes you emotional like this, it deserves a 10    … Expand

Второй накинул за приятную графику окружающего мира и проработанность управления и внешнего вида машин (повреждения, в свою очередь, ужасные). Ну а людям, которым действительно нравилась первая мафия, думаю эта игра не понравится. Она ничего не смогла привнести в мир игры, с колосальным прогрессом в игровой индустрии, только лишь, порезать, убрать и не проработать, показывая лишь симпотичный фантик, который лишь визуально смотрится выигрышнее на фоне оригинала. Some of the chapters are extremely tough to slug through because of the lack of checkpoints. Next, for a gangster game, there's an obvious absence of female characters. Tommy Angelo has one, but none of the other guys have girlfriends. No wonder they're so lonely. There's a compelling sequence where Tommy has to find a prostitute named Michelle in the hotel. It's dramatic and Michelle is plenty hot, but that's it. Twenty chapters and there's nobody home in the female department. Still, I found a lot to like about the game, especially the main character.… Expand

    When Mafia III came out on PS plus I immediately downloaded and played it I found it quite enjoyable but from reviews to people it was apparently the worst one so when the trilogy came out I pre-ordered it and eventually played it (backwards) I started with Mafia two which I enjoyed and then I started playing Mafia definitive edition and couldn't stand it it went with mafia III controlsWhen Mafia III came out on PS plus I immediately downloaded and played it I found it quite enjoyable but from reviews to people it was apparently the worst one so when the trilogy came out I pre-ordered it and eventually played it (backwards) I started with Mafia two which I enjoyed and then I started playing Mafia definitive edition and couldn't stand it it went with mafia III controls but it felt clunky and not responsive the story wasn't all to great as well I mean I understand this was an old game but it was just terrible another thing would be the graphics which look brilliant if they didn't glitch out every 15 seconds as a matter of fact the only thing I found enjoyable in this came was the driving which is the only reason this doest have a three for me.… Expand

    Pros: - the story is a little supplemented in a good way - attention to details - good saved atmosphere of original game Cons: - visual glitches, for example - the road is just a big white texture on sunny weather - main characters aren't look familiar to characters in original game - no all songs from original - no new generations    That's a good game with some problems.

    I never played the original, and non-open world game is not my interest. I bought this game because of the story, and it payed well. However I would give it an 8 or even 9 if some of the gameplays are less frustrating (I know, git gud, huh? But seriously, the race was ok for me, however, what about the truck sequence? The plane engine sequence? WTF? I'm not the only one who get stuck onI never played the original, and non-open world game is not my interest. I bought this game because of the story, and it payed well. However I would give it an 8 or even 9 if some of the gameplays are less frustrating (I know, git gud, huh? But seriously, the race was ok for me, however, what about the truck sequence? The plane engine sequence? WTF?     It would be a ten for me if they had included some of the original radio tracks. The radio felt pretty dull while driving around in game, so ruined the exploration aspect of the game. Great radio tracks were the best part of the original and Mafia 2. That said, the story is awesome and the campaign is just great. The free ride mode just felt meh with the lack of decent radio and also 30It would be a ten for me if they had included some of the original radio tracks. The radio felt pretty dull while driving around in game, so ruined the exploration aspect of the game. Great radio tracks were the best part of the original and Mafia 2. That said, the story is awesome and the campaign is just great. The free ride mode just felt meh with the lack of decent radio and also 30 fps on ps5 hindered the experience quite a bit. I wish they would do a 60 fps patch for the next gen, and add some of the original radio tracks, then I can see myself do another play through.… Expand

    The original Mafia is one of the first games I've ever played when my parents bought the first PC for our household. I remember playing this game and finishing it countless times and I never thought I would play a remastered version of it. It was a nostalgia trip to me. Loved every second of it!!     An awesome experience. Don´t look for an open world game or an RPG, this game is mostly linear and short, but the story is amazing and has some of the best characters I´ve seen in a game. It has a few bugs here and ther but nothing to worry too much about. The gunplay it´s ok and the missions are fun altough sometimes a bit uninspired, but overall it was an outstanding game.

I never played the original but now I know I missed out big time! The story had me hooked from the beginning watching a cab driver make his way up the ranks to his downfall and watching as his “Family” falls apart. The only problem I had with this game overall was the driving and gun play, it feels like they took both from Mafia 3 which I wasn’t a big fan of, but I did start to grow on it towards the end. If you are looking for a good crime tale definitely give this one a chance!… Expand

    This is a very good remake to retell the story of the original game. the graphic is good. However, I am kind of disappointed that they did not make this game a open world game as it wasted the beautiful city of lost heaven they rebuilt.

    Honestly though, the biggest issue for me are the bugs, this game is filled with bugs, its crazy!
    I would've never expect that from a game that looks like this and bears the title of "Mafia" and remake.

I'm terrible at it in every other open-world game, but the oldie cars here are obviously much slower, which helped me plan my escape routes with ease. Plus, executing all the turns while the car slides around the street is really satisfying.

    The story is consistently engaging and the performances are all strong, aided by the updated graphics that look really good (most of the time). Characters' eyes occasionally look kinda scary, and the world looks a little too plain during the daytime, but most of the cutscenes are impressive. My main complaint with the narrative is that it definitely stagnates in the final third, with a finale that feels too rushed. I could've gone for more context and cause-and-effect in the final three missions.

    I never played the original so it was pretty fun to experience this. It's not as deep or content-heavy as today's games, but I thought they rightfully made up for it by pricing this at $40. And I think when it goes down to $30 or less, it'll become an absolute steal and a gem of its own.    … Expand

Noire, ist das Action Gameplay, meint vor allem eben die Deckungsshooter Mechanik recht altbacken und hakelig. Die Action Anteile des Spiels gefallen nicht so wirklich und fallen gar hinter viele Spiele der PS3 Ära wie etwa GTA 5 oder Uncharted deutlich zurück. Sehr schade. Hätte man auch hier ein moderneres, flüssigeres Gameplay hinbekommen, wäre das Mafia Remake ein Paradetitel werden können. In the original game there were traffic lights, none here - you hit cars that turn left while you go straight and the cops think it's your fault. there are slight changed to the original plot - some better, some worse. It's good, but the magic isn't there.

    PART 1:
    The writing and acting for Mafia: Definitive Edition are easily the best main aspects of Story Mode, the game opened with a really well written moment, as Sam and Paulie (mob friends of Don Salieri) force Tommy (our main protagonist) to drive *them* back to Salieri's bar as Tommy is trying to shake off and lose Morello's men (Morello being Salieri's main competition) by using short-cuts he knows by being a taxi driver.
    I won't spoil any more of the game, although I really want to, because Story Mode has some amazing moments. Don't let me get side-tracked here though, I also need to tell you about this whole graphics in cut-scenes looking better than the actual game itself...

    PART 2 (the "open world"):
    Now, we must talk about the 'Free Ride' for this game, I swear I have collected all of the collectables in this game, yet it does not feel complete whatsoever! I play games like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, the open worlds for those games are absolutely stunning, beautiful, and just virtually wonderful to explore (and let's not forget to mention that Story Mode for both of those games are just better).
    'Free Ride' in Mafia: Definitive Edition is not an open world, it is extremely tedious, vehicles are an absolute pain to control, all I can give props to for the open world/free ride in this game is that it has some Easter Eggs that a lot of people really loved, overall the open world was just, no.

    THE FINAL PART:
    When I am in a car, I can literally see my hat poking through the roof, I know a lot of people would consider it a 'minor glitch', but in my book a minor glitch is the thing that ruins a substantial amount of the game. Whenever, I look back on Mafia; Definitive Edition, all I care to remember is Story Mode, nothing else, I had no fun driving vehicles, getting collectables, earning Free Roam trophies, I got exceptionally bored.

The main problem of this game is the gameplay, because the character is too rigid and the gunfight are not very fun. The game doesn’t encourage to do secondary quests, because they are not proposed to the player during all the main quest.

    This is a really fun game that does a good job of taking you back to a style of game from the PS2 era which of course it is a remake of a popular PS2 game. Great graphics with an interesting story. Controls feel good and gunplay feels smooth. A few bugs at release but will probably be patched.

The game screams 1930's as you play, with all the cars, fashion, language, music, etc. That's what makes this title unique. The Godfather-esque story isn't too shabby either. Overall, it's almost a great game, but it just misses that mark. It's still very much worth a play though.… Expand

The graphics look partially decent but sometimes especially the lighting looks terrible. The controls kinda suck and overall it could've taken a lot more polish. The missions are very bland and repetitive which is due to the age of the original. Overall, an okay remake, great story.

All of whom for the most part sounded like robots. Hangar 13 did so well in regards to fixing that. Add in the breath taking cutscenes, a beautiful soundtrack, a wonderful world to explore... I could go on.

    The only problems I had with this game was the reuse of Mafia 3 animations i.e. Tommy plays and moves like Lincoln Clay so the gunfights are meh at times but I'd rather that than the original Mafia gun play. 2 cutscenes did not play audio which irritated me along with a bit of lighting issues in certain cutscenes.

    Overall, I am quite amazed that Hangar 13 gave us the pleasure of playing a new re-imagined classic. While not totally perfect, this game has a few minors flaws in which case had they not been present, Mafia Definitive Edition would be a solid 10/10.    … Expand

    an incredible graphics and story but unfortunately the level design and the gameplay is terrible . other than that the soundtrack is great . and it really captures the atmosphere of the 1930s really well . but the most important factor of any game is missing as i said when you don't have good gameplay the game is going suffer from it.

The charm, the story and the atmosphere are all carefully recreated. The game is definitely worth buying for those who didn’t play the original or wants to refresh their experience.

Им удалось почти полностью показать нам город, хоть и в некоторых моментах он был изменён.     i played the game on a PS4 the story is good the game play is bad. The story still as the same impact of the original but the game play was terrible their was nothing in the open world for the massive map they had build but the graphical upgrade is stunning and was beautiful from the sun light hitting the side of cars and the puddles on the floor and the mo cap they did. The gun play felt like it was ripped out of mafia 3 the time to kill seemed too high like when you were using the Tommy gun you had to load 10 rounds into on person and they didn't flinch so they would just stand still and shoot back. The bold action rifle at a zoom in glitched were it would freeze before zooming in the only guns that felt like they had an impact were the rollovers and the shotguns. in some of the cut scene their were a lot of frame tearing. The game is just drive shoot cut scene drive shoot cut scene repeat.… Expand

    I played the original. Graphical Upgrades are nice and overall satisfying. gameplay & mechanics not at all unfortunately. It’s ok but it definitely feels like it could have been much better. Do not recommend.

    A great game, the remake of mafia 1 is definitely one to remember. I remember playing mafia 1 back in the days, at that time the game was a gem. But this version of mafia 1 brings a new dimension to the game series, I feel like hangar 13 learn from their mistake in mafia 3 (even if the mafia 3 is still a decent game). The game is gorgeous, the city of Lost Heaven is perfect, switchingA great game, the remake of mafia 1 is definitely one to remember. I remember playing mafia 1 back in the days, at that time the game was a gem. But this version of mafia 1 brings a new dimension to the game series, I feel like hangar 13 learn from their mistake in mafia 3 (even if the mafia 3 is still a decent game). The game is gorgeous, the city of Lost Heaven is perfect, switching between the countryside and downtown. The storytelling is loyal to the original mafia 1 but with more depth and more cinematic features.

    The game manages to bring back the great atmosphere and superb story of the original, while adding upon it with better gameplay and graphics. And although there are some clipping errors here and there and the graphics and characters can look stiff from time to time it's still a great experience!

    An amazing remake of this classic, stunning graphics, good gameplay, the best in Mafia franchise until now, awesome soundtrack, they improved a lot of things, the history and characters are much better and likeable, the only bad things are the remotion of trains in city, and the phisics are ridiculous somethimes, but hangar 13 made and amazing jov recreating this wonderfull game

    Very bad gameplay, unresponsive and limiting.
    Graphics are nice, but too much popping.
    Flat story....
    I wish some studio with a minimum of talent had taken this challenge, instead of hangar 13, what a mess...

    If you want to play a ps2 game with amazing graphics mod then play this. Otherwise wait for more technically sound gangster games.

    Racing mission is horrible, way more harder and worse than original, stopped playing because I can't win and can't skip it.

    I can't believe that this game was released in 2020. Worst level design with downgrades from the 2002 Mafia game. Worst shooting mechanics and empty open world. No freedom, no lovable characters, no good voice acting, nothing is good about the game. If you're a human please don't buy this game

    so, creator of original game wasnt such happy about some changes (totally different point at the ending) i enjoyed graphics but that is only one plus, missing free movement in to the missions or in the missions, too much console arcadish, but still playable (what the **** was that ice cube at the end?)
