    Piece of **** remake, the graphics are the only think that looks decent but even the graphics have big issues such as lips synching. In some cutscenes the characters seem totally out of sync with the voices. The animations are awful very 2002 looking it looks as if they changed only the textures and models. In terms of content you don't get only the original 20 missions with no side activities, it doesn't really feel like an open world game if they hold your hand every step of the way. The shooting and cover mechanics are again very outdated, every gunfight is clunky, the enemy AI is awful and I also experienced critical bugs more than 1 month after release. I tried to reload a checkpoint in mission 4 and I got pushed back 2 checkpoints, and the police was giving me a fine. After that I couldn't move. I had to delete save files manually in order to be able to continue. Some other time in the same mission I had to enter a motel to save a guy. As soon as I was out of stealth I started taking damage over time out of nowhere and I just died. The infamous banana race is still there and it is as bad as it ever was. I did it in the original game but I don't feel like spending one afternoon to keep trying until I get lucky. I don't know why they had to make it just as frustrating again (at least now you have to race only 3 laps and from what I remember in the original game you had to race 6 laps). If Mafia was your favourite game and you can overlook all the bugs and clunky stuff you can buy it but you just make sure you don't expect anything better than the original game (excepting the graphics).… Expand

    It’s amazing game. Must for any mafia 1 fan and every fan of good games.

    Only thing I didn’t like is some dumbed down things for more casual players and the fact extreme ride only has 5 cars in comparison to 19 in original.

    Thank you Hangar 13 for this faithful remake of one of the best games ever! It was very emotional to experience again this story and I liked the new direction, cutscenes, acting and dialog a lot. I want to keep it short so for all the newcomers and people who actually read this reviews, please note the following:

    1. Graphics - Amazing. I could not believe that this runs on my PS4. It    Thank you Hangar 13 for this faithful remake of one of the best games ever! It was very emotional to experience again this story and I liked the new direction, cutscenes, acting and dialog a lot. I want to keep it short so for all the newcomers and people who actually read this reviews, please note the following:

    1. Graphics - Amazing. I could not believe that this runs on my PS4. It looks a lot closer to a next-gen game than a current one. Apart of some screen tearing and framerate drops at times the graphics are flawless.

    2. Sound and cutscenes - Absolutely astonishing. From music to radios, from voice acting to motion capturing - absolutely beautiful!

    3. Gameplay - Faithful to the original. I played on Classic mode. The race was brutally difficult and some firefights were a big challenge. For Mafia 4 you just have to figure out the balance between open world and story like this. Shooting and some movement animations could be made better. Driving is perfect on simulation mode.

    Overall this game is a solid 8 out of 10. However, everybody seems to forget that it is not a full price game and at 40$ it is most defiantly a 9 out of 10. I missed some of the old writing in the ending though! Hope this game sells well and you guys make Mafia 4 - more like this than Mafia 3.    … Expand

    Amazing remake! Having lots of fun with this game so far. This game is much better than Mafia 3 much respect to Hangar 13 for stepping up on there new mafia game from taking there time on finishing this game. The visuals and the gameplay is amazing especially on PS4 pro. If you loved the original mafia your definitely gonna like this a lot better. Highly recommended game to play!

    Gun combat is terrible to put it mildly. Enemies can hit you easily from far off but you cannot hit them.
    Weapons are peashooters and aiming is a good-luck feature. Driving is crap as well, but then again the original was not any better. AI is dumb. I frequently had audio problem bugs.    Game looks good. but the gameplay is stuck from the original version. Very boring and bareboned.

    But this is just a polished work of the original.
    also it has been many years since i played the original, but i felt some things missing and left out.

    I really hope there will be a good mafia game made someday for modern gameplay.

    The mediocre critic reviews seem to forget that this was never meant to be a new game. It was a reimagining of an old one. And for that, it does it perfectly.

    It's good. Not a masterpiece, not 100% better than original, but its good enough. As a fan of the original Mafia — Im happy with this release. Money well spent.

    J'estime que ce remake quasiment aussi bon que celui de re2 ,
    on va dire qu'il est juste un cran en dessous a cause de ses quelques bugs et ses anumations plus rigidez que re2 remake.
    autrement il fantastique, et c'est un réel plaisir l'ambiance de mafia 2002 avec des graphismes de cette qualité. hangar 13 s'est vraiment sorti les doigt pour ce remake. et surtout ils n'ont pas faits    J'estime que ce remake quasiment aussi bon que celui de re2 ,

I was in love for the first Mafia, because it was incredible indie game that looks and feels like Grand Theft Auto. Mafia was one of my favs because I was from East Europe. Everyone in my class play this game, it was phenomenal at 2002. I like how this game was re-created. Cutscenes looks great.     En comparación con Mafia, este Remake ha cumplido perfectamente, los gráficos han mejorado mucho, sistema de cobertura, entre muchas otras mejoras.     Mejoras en cinemáticas, tiroteos, han convertido el juego de hace 20 años en uno prácticamente nuevo.

    Es una aventura de acción lineal, con una historia atrapante, buena conducción, tiroteos, cuerpo a cuerpo, sigilo, un mapa muy bien elaborado. Es muy realista, lo que provoca una gran inmersión en el juego.

    La duración es en mi opinión perfecta, unas 10-15 horas.

    Si no has jugado mafia es una buena oportunidad para jugarlo con mejores gráficos entre otras mejoras, y si ya lo has jugado es buen momento de revivirlo, lleno de nostalgia, porque la historia es la misma, aunque agregando diálogos para profundizar en la historia.

    No voy a hacer spoilers sobre la historia, os puedo asegurar que es muy buena, te sentirás todo un mafioso como su nombre indica.

    Exelente título con una historia muy centrada es un orgullo tener un gran título como este jugando con nuestra nostalgia y lo importante que es la historia de tommy Angelo esta vez hangar 13 y 2k se ganaron un gran aplauso y muy merecido muchas gracias por este hermoso titulo

    Sehr gutes Spiel, doch technisch gesehen ist es weniger gut. Habe sehr viel Screen tearing bemerkt und der Film grain war mir zu intensiv. Insgesamt gutes Spiel

    A dignified tribute to the original game. The only minus is the classic difficulty, which is not very identical to the original and is quite unbalanced and sometimes furrowing.

    This game is a complete from the ground up remake of the original 2002 Mafia game. Hangar 13 definitely hit the mark with this game and it met my expectations. This remake is very faithful to the original game. What I loved about this game was the world and cars, the music on the two radio stations was also period accurate. There is a free ride mode where you can explore the city at your leisure and try to find five hidden cars that are unlockable. For those who are still interested in getting this game, it is really enjoyable although some of the character voices do seem to be somewhat annoying (example, Paulie). Overall, I'd personally rate this game 78 out of 100 on my personal rating system. The Mafia Definitive Edition is neither great nor groundbreaking, but is a well made remake of the original game from 2002. If you are hesitant about this game, wait until it comes on sale. It is currently $40 in the US and $50 in Canada. Ultimately, it is up to you, the gamer whether you want to accept this offer or refuse this offer.… Expand

    It seems to me that the original game did not deserve this remake, the game is fun, but very linear for modern times, zero replayability, the missions do not bring anything new, and even remove some great things that the original had. If you haven't played the original, I would recommend it; but if you played and loved the original mafia, maybe you should expect the price to come down a bit.
