It seems like EA isn't even trying anymore. Madden 17 seems almost like a copy and paste from Madden 16. The gameplay and animations are almost the exact same. The graphics are pretty similar as well if not the same. I love football but this game is not worth getting in my honest opinion.

I guess the Madden developers don't believe in the saying if it ain't broke why fix it . Same theme every year 3 steps forward 5 backwards . Again I'm all for trying to make the game better specially where the game lacks being good but when you mess with the core of what's already perfected that's just HORRIBLE & the developers should all get a big fat F- for FAIL !!! Not sure why the kick meter or other things that weren't broken have changed... yet the game clock still ticks away after I run out of bounds... graphics are great(so was Madden 16)... just wish instead of stupid new features like blocked kicks they would take the time to polish the stuff already in place to be as close to a perfect simulation as it could be

I am very much a avid Madden player normally log about 200 games a season. At times I'm ranked within the top 100 annually. This years edition has some pretty big changes some good some bad. I honestly have to say that it has taken a few steps backwards. To keep things short it just feels like it has more of a arcade type feel to it, in other words some of the skill has been taken out. I'm 3 games in (all decisive victory's) but at this point I am unsure if I'll end up logging so many games just out of habit or actual desire to play. I am very good at Madden but I have forced 4 fumbles per game (too many) and although I have only missed one extra point my opponents seem to struggle with all aspects of the kicking game. I know after my rating goes up I'll get harder matchups and I normally start with a record of 10-0 or 10-2 but idk if at some point even when I do reach that point I just feel like the games are gonna be sloppy. The run game is ridiculous too I play with the Jets and Matt Forte is a absolute monster running the ball, He feels unstoppable so I can only imagine what its going to be like to face AP or Gurley. Honestly 6 outta 10 may be a little high of a rating. I actually feel bummed out writing this I love football I love Madden but the truth is gonna come out I do think the changes will flesh out better in single player modes but as far as online it feels like the need to be skilled is getting stripped away.

I really like the way the game plays with the physics compared to previous years but overall it feels as they could of done so much more. The idea of coming in as a rookie in any position and calling plays for that side of the ball takes away from the realism and the point of playing as an individual player. This ends up taking you out of the action for a lot of plays whereas if the play calling was done by the cpu you could be put in the position to make plays. Playing vs the cpu team vs team becomes overwhelmingly easy as it does each year once you understand the AI nuances as this really is a game made for Human vs Human, but if you don't have solid internet connection or someone to play against your may not have fun playing countless hours. Then again, if you are playing another person the play calling and audible system leaves you few options. Half n half 5/10 Expand

don't get me wrong... i enjoy the game's other modes, but career franchise as a player, a mode i haven't played for years... should be more difficult on all-madden than it is. i can complete 25 of 30 passes, easily, each game, on simple crossing patterns, just waiting for my receiver or even tight ends to break free from the linebackers across the middle... EVERY TIME. this game isdon't get me wrong... i enjoy the game's other modes, but career franchise as a player, a mode i haven't played for years... should be more difficult on all-madden than it is. i can complete 25 of 30 passes, easily, each game, on simple crossing patterns, just waiting for my receiver or even tight ends to break free from the linebackers across the middle... It looks okay, plays decent, but is nothing great. They are pushing the ultimate mode way too much, and you are forced to do franchise mode instead of just a season. Finally, you can only play 1 v 1 online. If you have more than 1 friend that wants to play online, you can't. It was worth the $40 I paid for it, but I won't buy this game again.

Best combo of ideas and execution the NFL has seen. [Issue#179, p.79]

A new madden that genuinely feels fresh rather than a half-hearted, contractually-binding annual roster update. [Nov 2016, p.91]

Quite simply, Madden NFL 17 is the best Madden game to date. The adjustments in the offensive and defensive gameplay mechanics really improve the realism and enjoyment of the game.
