If you're into LEGO games, this is the best one yet. The wide cast of characters from DC Comics are all given their own personal charms to differentiate each and every one of the nearly 200 character roster. No longer do characters feel "copy and pasted," as the animations for each character really set them apart. The character customizer is also the best yet, with a plethora of new options added to truly expand who you can create.

On the other hand, if you're not into LEGO games, or haven't played one before, this is an excellent way to start. They're simple, stress-free games that are fun for all ages. LEGO DC Super-Villains is packed to the brim with DC comics goodness, and I couldn't recommend this entry into the franchise more.

It has the most unique story in the game. The Justice League have disappeared and a new, more sinister group of heroes have taken over. So you team up with your own custom characters, then the Legion of Doom (Lex Luthor, Joker, Harley Quinn, Cheetah, Captain Cold, Sinestro, etc), then eventually the Justice League, to defeat Darkseid!
The game has a shortened character grid, but i think this is better. The past LEGO superhero type game was LEGO Marvel 2, and that had a 250+ character grid, but i didn't know half the characters and some were like Aunt May. This one has some i don't know, but it adds to the experience. If you are looking for a lot of heroes in the grid, you'll find some, but not as much as the villains.
The open world is also the best in a DC game. You can explore the locations of Gotham City (Wayne Manor, Amusement Mile, etc), the city of Metropolis (LexCorp, STAR Labs), Arkham Forest, Slaughter Swamp, Hall of Justice, Hall of Doom, Smallville, and Apokalips (after the story mode).
All in all, the game was worth the $80 or so dollars and i would be happy if there was a sequel

As someone who grew up with lego games I have never grown accustomed to enjoying the post 2012 changes lego games went though. I really enjoyed the pre-2012 (mumble) lego games and I always thought the dialogue took something away from the games. That being said, this is one of the first lego games post 2012 that I genuinely liked. The dialogue and voice acting was actually pretty good. Mark Hamel voiced the joker which was awesome. One addition that was appreciated was the open world area where you can mess around with characters and do miniquests. It's an evolution of lego games that actually feels like a major improvement. The main reason I took off points was because of the mission design and the slew of abilities and powers. The levels are more like one or two condensed areas that have too much stuff going on. The older games had the level design a bit more spread out and adventurous which I really prefer to cluttered and claustrophobic. It's also a bit overwhelming with how many different abilities you have to remember exist and some abilities are only used by one or two characters. Anyway, that's just what I thought of the game based on my biased opinion. Expand

I recently replayed this game with my young 3rd brother, and we played most of the missions, we had fun in case you wondered, this game was always with me since i was a kid, and it will most likely be with as i grow to a man. Godly game. Amazing VAs, a lot (I do mean a lot) of characters. Fun story and expands on a lot of great DC characters. Maybe beats Lego Batman 3 but that one still had Adam West and a lot of charisma. Loading times are awful tho. Also has the absolute best main theme in ANY Lego game.

Overall, while it’s still mostly the same as previous titles in the Lego series, Lego DC Super-Villains offers some much needed twist in terms of story, shining a light on the life of the bad guys and girls in the comic book universe. Add in the superb voice acting, the many different powers that you get to wield as the villains, as well as the huge amount of activities scattered throughout its open world and you’re bound to have a good time being bad.

If you're new to LEGO games, then LEGO DC Super-Villains is a good place to jump in. The quirky and humorous storyline, imaginative level design, and unusual villains as heroes spin on the super hero genre make it one of the better recent LEGO games.

LEGO DC Super Villains is another example of how TT Games haven’t just sat back on its LEGO titles to simply release “just another game” with a reskin. It doesn't always work, but the developer has tried to do something new while also keeping elements of previous titles that worked. Add in the iconic slapstick humour and you're in for a reliably good time.
