A lot of love has gone into this game. Jokes and nuggets of DC lore are scattered throughout – they’re glittering little studs of care and attention. Sadly, they don’t build into such a wonderful whole. [Issue#156, p.84]

Lego DC Super-Villains is a light-hearted and surprisingly lengthy romp for the whole family. Gameplay doesn't break from the established Lego formula, and the controls can actually be frustrating at times. You'll soldier on, though, thanks to an entertaining story and lovingly-recreated DC universe – especially if you're a comics fan.

This new LEGO game is mostly very atmospheric thanks to the setting, the characters and the story. Creating your own character is a great feature but apart from that, LEGO DC Super-Villains is still built on the archaic LEGO-game template. Which means all the criticism aimed at LEGO games in general, apply here too. Familiar bugs, messy coop multiplayer, not enough buttons et cetera. You know exactly what you're going to get if you've played any other LEGO game in the past. Worth it if you really like the DC universe.

LEGO DC Super-Villains doesn’t change the core LEGO game formula much, but does its best to work within that formula and deliver a fresh experience through its storyline. Those who love the franchise’s blend of fast-paced brawling and light puzzle-solving will be in for a treat even if few risks are taken with the core gameplay. Luckily, the outstanding cast of characters and their top-notch voice work keep the game enjoyable to play, watch and listen to from start to finish. Beyond the voice work, the soundtrack is also outstanding and a pleasant surprise.

LEGO DC Super-Villains doesn’t take any risk and stays true to the old formula. But it’s still well-crafted and it’s a good fit for any youngster trying to step in the gaming world.

Another LEGO game plenty of characters to play with, tons of tasks to accomplish and a great sense of humor to enjoy.

Lego DC Super-Villains doesn’t shake things up that much, but it doesn’t break anything either. Ultimately, above-average level design and a dizzying amount of DC content mostly make up for the game’s bland action and lack of polish. Lego DC Super-Villains might not have the chops to take over the world, but it may conquer a surprising amount of your family’s free time.

The collectibles are easier to amass, the puzzles have some challenge, and the character creation is enjoyable. If nothing else, you get to hear Mark Hamill’s sillier version of the Joker. That alone makes the price of admission worth it.

With its gleefully mischievous cast and a few new mechanical tricks, Lego DC Super-Villains is a refreshing twist on the trusted Lego game formula. It’s a shame that long-running glitches that have plagued the series for years still rear their ugly head, but subtle improvements across the board make them tolerable, in large part because there’s so much else to like. A love letter to fans of the comics and the earlier Lego DC games alike, this makes it clear it’s good to be bad.

The usual, hilarious comic verve meets an excellent representation of the universe of reference, making the production a true apotheosis of fan service, which in some situations will send fans into raptures. The game, however, suffers from the usual problems that have afflicted the franchise for some years, including a decisive repetition of the fund in the revival of the puzzles.

A little bit better, rich and original than the last LEGO games but still far from the best outing of the series.

Although the formula for LEGO games has remained mostly unchanged over the past six years, LEGO DC Super Villains is still an enjoyable experience, provided that you aren't suffering from LEGO fatigue.

I want to like this game, but the same bugs keep coming up time and time again in these LEGO games, which made me dread playing it. Get LEGO Batman 2: DC Super-Heroes, and wait for a sale.

LEGO DC Super Villains is another example of how TT Games haven’t just sat back on its LEGO titles to simply release “just another game” with a reskin. It doesn't always work, but the developer has tried to do something new while also keeping elements of previous titles that worked. Add in the iconic slapstick humour and you're in for a reliably good time.

LEGO DC Super-Villains is just another game based on the LEGO formula with a complete and interesting villain roster and perfect voice cast choices. However, after so many LEGO releases we can't forgive Tt Games for the total lack of innovation and for problems that continue to exist after so many years.

The LEGO universe really needs some innovative ideas, cause this game is just a bit too familiar. We really like the DC baddies, but it deals with the same issues we often see in a LEGO title.

I’m ultimately sad to see that I have grown out of a franchise I once loved, with underlying problems that I may have not noticed as a child building on top of one another to make LEGO DC Super-Villains much less enjoyable than I thought it would be.

Ultimately, Lego DC Super-Villains goes down as another cookie-cutter Lego game, and while there's still plenty of merry mayhem to unleash, it's the same kind of mayhem we've seen before. What should be as wild and riotous as the Clown Prince of Crime comes off as just another mild-mannered reporter.

But Lego DC Super-Villains does little with the DC canon, its story never reaching beyond, “these baddies aren’t so bad after all.”

The story is fun, the voice talent involved is incredible (Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy, Susan Eisenberg, Yvette Nicole Brown, Tara Strong.. the list goes on and on), the levels are diverse, and the hub world is loads of fun to explore. The wide cast of characters from DC Comics are all given their own personal charms to differentiate each and every one of the nearly 200 character roster. No longer do characters feel "copy and pasted," as the animations for each character really set them apart. The character customizer is also the best yet, with a plethora of new options added to truly expand who you can create.

On the other hand, if you're not into LEGO games, or haven't played one before, this is an excellent way to start. They're simple, stress-free games that are fun for all ages. LEGO DC Super-Villains is packed to the brim with DC comics goodness, and I couldn't recommend this entry into the franchise more.

Traveler's Tales is an English company that has developed projects such as Sonic 3D Blast and Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, but theirTraveler's Tales is an English company that has developed projects such as Sonic 3D Blast and Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, but their specialization is different. Since 2008, this studio has been dedicated to the LEGO brand and there are almost countless number of LEGO branded games that the studio has already released in a decade. And this without counting the games developed by the English division of the company (TT Fusion).

Traveler's Tales once again picked up the DC Comics universe, but now they have opted for another approach, giving greater focus to the villains. This means that villains like Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Darkseid, Ultraman and Sinestro are present in LEGO DC Super-Villains. But I said "greater focus". As it couldn't be, heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash and Green Lantern were not left out and even playable.

Commissioner Gordon oversees the transfer of The Rookie to Stryker Island in Metropolis. The Rookie is caught after he has been illegally placed in Professor Ivo's laboratory. With a hand of the incarcerated Lex Luthor, Gordon says that the Rookie had access to a movement that allows him to consume superpowers coming from Project Amazo. However, Commissioner Gordon didn't count with the presence of Mercy Graves, who helps free Rookie and Lex Luthor from prison. What happens from here? Well, that's something you'll find out when you play this title. What I can say about the story mode is that, despite being simplistic, I notice that it have charm; humor is simple but effective. I can even say that the campaign of this LEGO DC Super-Villains gives a small snap to the latest DC movies.

LEGO DC Super-Villains is an action game and platforms in the third person, like LEGO's previous LEGO games. Overcoming a particular obstacle, building a specific object, completing puzzles and defeating bosses is the usual cycle in the series and is also part of the LEGO DC Super-Villains menu. And while it's fun in the early days, it quickly becomes a bit annoying due to the over-repetitiveness of the above cycle, coupled with the fact that the gameplay, coupled with the camera that doesn't help in some situations, is sometimes tricky. Boss fights aren't challenging because they use the same structure. Surely these Traveler's Tales LEGO have been successful, but the producer has to start adding something new in the upcoming LEGO game and reviewing the problems in the gameplay because it isn't the first time these problems appear. But it's still a fun title anyway. Don't forget the cooperative mode that helps make the game even more fun.

Although it's a long way from being a Grand Theft Auto, the free roam of the LEGO DC Super-Villains comes to help you get an idea of what a world is like with the Danish brand. Gotham, Metropolis and the Apokolis are the sites that are present in this mode. There are several sub-missions, races (time-trials) and challenges to entertain the player, but little more than that. We have over 150 characters to buy or unlock and they all have different powers and abilities from one to the another.

Graphics? Meet the requirements. Soundtrack? He is competent, although in one instance i caught a bug in which police music was activated sometimes, even without me being chased by the police. Traveler's Tales unfortunately didn't innovate and did not create anything that would differ from this other LEGO games. And the formula that has been successful in other games, may no longer work from now on. But that doesn't make the LEGO DC Super-Villains a bad game. Despite your problems, it's simple, fun and friendly.

Veredict: LEGO DC Super-Villains is fun like the other LEGO titles of this studio, but something innovative is still not presented.
