Boring story without any conclusion, lame worlds, stupid dialogues, silly mini games, awkward dumb jokes, no FF characters, long unnecessary cutscenes and the game lost its charm.

Too much Disney is the best way I can describe the game, most of the fans of this series are probably in their 20s or 30s and this panders to pre-teens to late-teens, there are almost no worlds compared to previous games, the game is too easy, the cutscenes are too long, the dialogue is painful, and the game feels like several steps backwards.

I can't believe how motivated I was to get to the end of this one and was well worth tying up years and years of build up. Without any spoilers, the ending definitely makes you think hard about what or if anything is to come. Regardless of reviews, or your experience with the franchise before, the game welcomes newcomers with plenty of contexts to catch you up with — so don't be afraid if the series' complexity initially scared you off. For me, the franchise is not about the struggle to grasp its complex story at all. I find the complexity is purposeful as it makes you take a step back from your head and into the heart of it. If you have a heart and like Disney characters, this game is for you! Expand

Game is fun. Lots of gameplay elements, worlds are varied.
Long time KH fan here, but:
    - game is way too easy, even on Proud mode. One of the major reasons is the attractions which give you an invulnerability frame.
    - I feel the story could've been handled better. Spoiler warning: for example, they spend some time thinking on how they can bring Roxas back, they want to reconstruct his heart with the data in data Twilight Town. They also need a vessel to put it in though. When arriving at the final world, Roxas just returns out of nothing. So basically all that building up was for nothing. Ansem/Xemnas imply they have put Sora on a path again, but nothing of the sort is revealed. Lingering Will appears out of nothing without any real reason for him suddenly appearing. Several organization members helping Xehanort without having any motivation to do so (they even explicitly state so themselves), Xion reappears without any justification on how. Same with like the KH mobile game 'players' appearing to help Sora & co without any reason why that would happen.
Xehanort does an entire 180 personality wise at the end, which is weird.
Protagonists are about as dangerous as butter knives during cutscenes, which makes no sense whe you look at them in past games. They get knocked out right away at some points. Then, a few minutes later in the story they can suddenly hold out against multiple of the same bad guys again (while being outnumbered).
    - Story pacing isn't too good. You get a bit of 'real' story at the start, then you have to go through several 'filler' Disney worlds, get another tiny amount of 'real KH story', another few hours of random Disney worlds, then the ending. I like the Dinsey worlds in KH games, but the KH series could do with some more time being dedicated to its own story.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love this game, I have loved kingdom hearts since I was a child, and i think this is the perfect revival of the series. Theirs so much to think about with this game, which people don't think about. This is a sequel in the public's eyes to a 13 year old game. This game needed more Disney to sell copies, square did awful last year in terms of sales when it comes to just cause and tomb raider. Whatever kingdom hearts decides to do in the future will make sense. My only real complaint that I don't think they will fix later is the fact that sora runs too fast, which is the whole reason the game feels so fast. The worlds feel like they fly by because you're moving faster than sonic does in his own games sometimes. Almost all of the 100 bad reviews of this game are people who are mad because it does not have the content that they expected because they had only played the final mixes of the games. DLC will most likely make 95% of the bad review's touched upon topics irrelevant. Play kingdom hearts, enjoy life, smile. Expand

But I can firmly say that this one delivers what you would want Kingdom Hearts 3 to be. I will say that don't expect this game to rewrite the book on what Kingdom Hearts is. It is very much in line with with the previous games were but IMO that's a good thing. You can tell a lot of effort and creativity went into it. I will say that the story is mess, but never the less the likability of the characters and the entertainment of the disney worlds saves it. I highly recommend. Expand

As a huge fan of the series, I have enjoyed most entries. In fact, the second game is my favourite game of all time. Kingdom Hearts III is no different here. It's an enjoyable and fantastic rollercoaster of a journey that shows just how much the series has grown while still remaining true to itself. This end to the Xehanort saga was an end that did not disappoint in the slightest.

    1. The voice acting was awful. I know its not their fault and they're just following a script, but it felt like it was chopped and pasted all over the place. There were unnecessary pauses after quick sentences and it just didnt flow well.

    2. THE SHEER AMOUNT OF CUTSCENES. The toy story world was the most notorious for this. You take five steps and youre back in a 2 minute long cutscene. Unless you're a huge fan of toy story, chances are you just wanna continue with the story. The problem is, while they do give you the option to skip, the way the kingdom hearts story is so complex that you cannot afford to miss any information if you want to understand whats going on.

    3. The lack of Square Enix characters. Im not saying I want Cloud front and center, but none of the previous characters from square made appearances. I liked Kingdom Hearts not for Disney, but for the crossover and how silly it was. This along with the constant barrage of park themed rides just felt like someone was taking Disney in a fist and shoving it down my throat. (I know im part of a minority in this and im not hating on Disney, there was just no balance.

    Now for the good.

    1. The worlds felt great. Surprisingly the standout for me was the Tangled world. It was well built and had good flow. The Caribbean was refreshing and felt great, almost like playing AC4 Black Flag but on a scaled down version which was awesome. The sheer amount of map in a single world, I could have spent hours upon hours searching for treasure.

    2. The Keyblade upgrade system and number of Keyblades. KH has always had plenty of options in this department, but being able to upgrade them and have different focus abilities depending on your playstyle was awesome. I found myself using mainly the kingdom key throughout the game because I like the finishers and its not super fancy.

    3. The amount of side missions and mini games. Though some of them can be quite frustrating especially if youre going for all of the trophies, theres no shortage of things to do even after youve completed the game.

    4. The Ending. (NO SPOILERS) It was pretty much everything I could have wanted and more. It felt very satisfying, kind of on the level of playing through Final Fantasy 7 and having your showdown with Sephiroth at the end. It wasnt drawn out, there was no huge heartless star ship crap like in 1 and 2, but yeah. It was great. All the feels.

TL;DR/ I loved it, it has its flaws, a couple that made me a little upset but overall it made me happy to have stuck around and wait.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a long time fan of this series, I have to admit it and say this is not one of my favourites in the franchise. In saying that, I really enjoyed the story and the progression. The combat feels incredible and the story hit me right in the feels. Basically up until the nearing end of the game I was having the time of my life.
Something shifted towards the end. It just seemed to go downhill from this point on a gameplay perspective. For a starters, the boss fight itself just felt very uninspired and lazy. The landscape shifts were clever, but they were nothing much more than cosmetic changes to the fight and served as a slight distraction. That isn't even the biggest disappointment for me.
The things that upset me the most were:
    A) noticing that so many worlds could have either been added or simply made bigger. Twilight Town is so tiny and has practically nothing in it after the main story, no Traverse Town at all and 100 Acre Wood is literally ONE area with 3 mini games.
    B) There are barely any optional Ultra Bosses. To my understanding, theres only the dark inferno and the gummi ship boss.
    C) No critical mode and Proud mode was quite easy. I'm not exaggerating here, I beat the entire game at level 38 :
    D) My final and biggest complaint, boring end game. Most of the time, I was exploring these worlds knowing what I had to do, but with no drive to do them. I literally said to myself "I don't know if I want to do this". Unless you are going towards the ultima weapon and trying to platinum the game, there is basically no incentive or reason to do all the things that are optional. Compare it to KH1 & 2, everything you did gave you a sense of satisfaction and reward towards the next thing. Here, you tediously grind the same things in massive worlds and try looking for treasures which take far too long than they should. There is certainly stuff to do, but I dont think they are fun. The battle gates are decent and challenging, but thats the best you're going to get from my experience. Its just a shame and plenty of missed opportunities. Its as if so many things were scraped in development.

Ok enough of the negativity. With all those things out of the way, I can still recommend this game to anybody whether you're new to the series or a long time fan like myself. Just like any other KH game, the core gameplay is fun as hell and always will be. Combat is great (apart from the situation command stacking), the emotions kick in hard, the music makes every battle feel so epic, the story telling while complicated is also very well written and heart felt. I think it started and ended nicely for the Xehanort Saga and I was extremely satisfied with the game progression.

In a nutshell, buy this game. It is worth your time and it is worth your money.
So much love has been crafted into the game and I'm sure there will be things you really like. Just don't get your hopes up on the end game. There's not much going for it there which is very sad to say.

I've played every game and played the first one when it came out in 2002. I know well the story and I can say without a doubt it really holds the series back. It's style carries the game where it's substance lets it down.

The gameplay is okay although way to easy which means you never really feel rewarded for beating any of the games challenges. Sora is overpowered which is ironic as he is supposed to be "Regaining his lost strength" and as a main character now is really one dimensional (simple in a bad way) and most of the main groups dialogue is hard to get through. Some cutscenes are so long winded, filled with exposition, and badly written that it kills a lot of the moments between fighting. There are really nice charming moments here and there (Tangled world has some great moments in particular) but over all it feels like a constant info dump.

Sometimes Sora, Donald, and Goofy don't even really feel like they are apart of the world (Frozen in particular). The story just plays out like normal with the gang slightly off to the side saying things while the main characters in the world just do the same thing they did in the movie. Another problem is some worlds really make you rely on your knowledge of the movie (Tangled is really bad with this) and sloppily deliver exposition just to get people to understand why characters are doing things.

The first game was truly simple and clean, it really had an identity. This game doesn't know if it wants to cater to the standard hero's journey that anyone can enjoy or be the complex multilayered story we've come to expect from a Final Fantasy game. It tries to do both and falls short.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 has finally been released. And in my opinion, it has once again been released with an astonishing key blade swinging combat system, Truly beautiful and enticing Storyline. And an amazing view of what the best of Unreal Engine 4 has to offer for action role playing games for years to come. But while this game in my opinion truly being I believe to be one of the best action role playing games to have ever been released in the 21st century. It can not be excused from its flaws. Which it does have. Without further a do allow me to embark on my In depth review of Kingdom Hearts 3 although I am confident that I can type for days about this game I am going to break down this review into 5 simple categories 1. Gameplay 2. Graphics 3. Storyline 4. Emotional impact 5. Execution of emotional Impact. The gameplay in Kingdom Hearts 3 is truly phenomenal instead of your standard keyblade swinging infused with a casual magic move, block and dodge for the combat system like we have seen in previous kingdom hearts games. Kingdom Hearts 3 takes it to a completely different level by adding everything we love from the previous game while also giving new and amazing features like keyblade transformations, shot lock, flow motion dashes to close in on enemies never be foreseen extensions to combos and to top it all off we get to see all of this in an amazing the best unreal engine 4 has to offer experience which leads me to the graphics section of this review. Graphicly this game is truly breath taking and although graphics alone certainly does not define an amazing video game it certainly does wonders to immerse the gamer deeper into the experience and the world of a game it allows the video game to come to life while also making the gamer feel like he or she is not only a playing this game but truly inside of it. Whether it’s the chain of Sora’s Kingdom Key keyblade swaying back and forth, the lining on the seams of Riku’s clothing, or the beautiful and sometimes sentimental sunset of Twilight Town this game graphicly is breathtaking. The storyline of Kingdom Hearts 3 bring the finale of the Xehanort saga to an astonishing conclusion exploring Sora’s powers and the Nobody’s he has within him while also tying once again the malevolent intentions of Organization 13, Xehanort and a plot to truly slay the guardians of light once and for all and bring to life his dream of Kingdom Hearts and darkness conquering all is truly interesting and will keep your eyes glued to the screen. However, there are certain aspects of the world’s inside of Kingdom Hearts that could have done a better job with interacting with the characters inside of them. This does not apply to all of them. For example Monsters Inc. has plenty of interaction with the characters of that world same with Toy Story and Tangled but I feel like the world of Frozen specifically had very little to no interaction with Elsa besides seeing her in cutscenes we were not able to battle alongside her and although I do see how this was important to how they portrayed that story when Sora, Donald and goofy got there I do believe it is essential to at least fight alongside the main characters of that world in a couple fights it was modestly disheartening to not fight alongside her most of the time is spent saving her from her own powers instead of eventually having her learn how to use them and together taking down a final boss but it was not done that way. Besides this and other inconsistencies like lack of important worlds lion king, Incredibles, Final Fantasy or even Sora’s maturity as a character the storyline is the best we have seen in the series. Now for the emotional impact some of you might be wondering why this is important. In my opinion this is extremely crucial to any video game but even more so to a storyline like the kingdom hearts series. Emotional impact is not only the emotions the characters of a video game express but how real and impactful those emotions feel to the gamer this leads me to the execution of emotional impact. It is normal to feel a certain emotion arise inside of you when your favorite character of a movie or anime dies. The same applies to video games they create this impactfulness by voice acting, storyline and the movement of the characters. While the movement and storyline in my opinion being astoundingly impressive I feel like the voice acting of kingdom hearts 3 for the English dub in crucial moments lacked greatly what the Japanese dub had to offer this deeply affected the emotional impact of the game so much so that it questioned whether or not Sora truly was sad of full of rage in certain scenes. In comparison to the Japanese dub where the voice actor displayed a truly beautiful harmony between rage, disbelief with small hints of profound sadness in a scene where Sora had lost everything. In conclusion despite this do not think twice about getting this game it will be worth every penny. Expand

A great game with a lot of hearts and time put into it, basically a love letter for the series' long time fans. Its main strength just like other KH games is its cast of characters and the ability of the characters and story to invoke a broad range of emotions which is a rarity for games in general.

The story offered a satisfying conclusion to a saga while also setting for the stone for the next saga. It's not in any way a perfect story nor it need to be perfect. But when it hits, it hits all the right notes. Although many things still left unexplained and some parts of the story lacks coherence, I do not think of it as a major weakness. For the series it's just how the story is supposed it hook its target audiences, to keep the interest alive. The only thing I found problematic is how most of the plot is contained within the last quarter of the game rather than spread more equally throughout the game. But I kinda get it why they have to do that considering the fast-pacing of the endgame's story development (8.5/10)

As for the characters, the main characters, especially Sora and the gang once again what makes the game so fun to play and watch. In KH3, it just gets better. The dialogue is better than ever, the comedy is spot on, each story cutscenes are a feast to watch and the voice acting is as good as the previous numbered instalments. Watching Sora and the gang are as fun as ever and watching their interaction often puts a smile on my face. The thing they can do better? Some characters were not given enough spotlight resulting in missed opportunities relating to emotional payoff of some characters and some ended up much to be desired in terms of character development. On a side note, although I understand the disappointment on the lack of FF character, I do not think they are much relevant to the story in KH3, therefore I am okay with the omission (8.5/10)

Aside from likeable characters and interesting story, the game also has awesome graphics and smooth animation. Each world has been made to resemble the original source/movies as close as possible and the level of details put into the world design is just unbelievable. I have no major complaint graphic-wise (9.5/10)

Music wise, KH3 is incredible. Although many of the ost are brought from the previous titles, most of them have been recomposed, enable them to invoke nostalgic feelings while offering a fresh take to some of the most beloved ost of the series. The new ost are equally awesome and some are very memorable. (9.5/10)

The gameplay is very fun. They added so many new features such as keyblades transformation, so many minigames, attractions, new ability, etc into the game that add so much variations and options of what you can do. The map is bigger than ever and the gummi ship features has been improved into something more enjoyable. But with all the things they add to the gameplay, Square Enix seems to forget to balance it with the difficulty. With all the arsenals players have in their hands, the game felt easier than it used to be. The enemies' difficulty felt nerved compared to previous games. They are not as challenging as they used to be. The map felt a bit empty likely because the increase of the size of the map is not balanced by adding more enemies and content into some particular maps. I really hope they can fix this with future update. Overall the gameplay is still good, but with some tweakings and possibly a final mix treatment, the gameplay could be a lot better (7.5/10)

Kingdom Hearts 3 is a great game. If you're a fan of the series who has been following the development of the series through many titles (not just KH1 and KH2) and has been waiting for so long, this game will likely offer almost everything you'd hoped for the game and you will have much fun playing it. Although it does have some cons, those cons likely will not ruin the experience you get from it. Is it a game worth buying? yes, especially for fans. Is it a game worth waiting for? Yes definitely. Overall 8.5/10. Extra points for the great effort put into every details of the game 9/10

the camera control is pretty chaothic, that makes really difficult to hit the target with the new skills
7-8 worlds, downgraded from 15-16 that KH2 had. Cutscenes every 5 minutes to pad out the 30 hour experience. Piss poor keyblade selection compared to KH2 and KH1.
KH2 had over 60 boss fights, this game has less than half of that.
It's like Square Enix forgot that the fans of this game are a lot older now and wrote the dialog the appease 11 year olds, but the story is still as convoluted as ever.
I hate that everyone is over rating this game because they are scared to get down votes and mean comments from abysmal Kingdom Hearts fanboys.
Truth is, it's a downgraded, that lacks a lot of the magic from the first 2 main games.
it kinda feels empty , after all these years, they did a good job in the game "per-se" enjoyable for sure but is that a 10/10? absolutely not! It's seems made for the fan, but it's not! I don't know why but it seems an over commercialized product with no souls

Okay, I'm going to start with this, however much it pains me to say it: Kingdom Hearts 3 is simply 'okay.' Unfortunately though, it falls short in multiple crucial dimensions that could have elevated it into a more comprehensive, satisfying, and structured game. I'll explain:

I, too, was eagerly waiting the thirteen years for this game. Having grown up with the KH franchise, with the original Kingdom Hearts easily being one of my favourite games of all time, I was not only excited to see how the story ended, but also how a next-generation console could evolve the worlds, gameplay, and combat to a previously-unrealized level. Just like Shadow of the Colossus' scale and beauty, for example, were brought to life by the PS4's capabilities, KH3 could fully realize the ambitions held by its creators.

When it comes to combat, these abilities have created a definite success. The introduction of attractions creates a playful-yet-crucial mechanic that builds pace and power into each battle. The form transformations for each keyblade are all beautifully rendered and each feels distinct enough to offer enough variation for different types of KH3 players. However, the issue that arises here is that the enemies you face just don't live up to the depth and variation that we saw in previous games. Putting aside the point that there's no Olympus Coliseum in this game (which I feel is a major blow in its own right), most boss fights in this game feel like minor iterations of the same general concept, and the player can employ the same strategy in every instance. This makes for rather dull, anti-climatic encounters, especially considering, when you do win a battle, that's usually not how the enemy dies, but by some fluke cinematic after the battle takes place. This leaves you somewhat unfulfilled, and leads into one of the major issues with this game: the cutscenes.

Personally, I cannot recall how long the cutscenes were in previous games, but rarely if ever have I experienced so many and such lengthy cutscenes in any game I've ever played. There's one particular cutscene mid-game that clocks in at a full fifteen minutes(!), and many are at least half that long. It leaves one to think you maybe be watching the actual movie the world is based on rather than playing KH. There is a real reason for why the cutscenes are this long though: the story's pace.

We all knew the story of KH has been an ever-complicating pile for some years now, and KH3 doesn't attempt to remedy this. Off the bat, the game tries to introduce new players to the story with little success, and then throughout the game, distinct parties within the 'group of light' are so stretched out, that check-ins with each take up an increasing amount of time. Once I prepared and ate an entire dinner during a single cutscene of KH3, and I think we can all agree that's a problem.

Furthermore, the pace becomes more and more disjointed as the game goes on. Little scraps of story are here and there, though they never really amount to anything until one finishes all seven (there's only seven worlds in this game! Scant compared to the previous two), and then it's as if it's all dropped on you in one moment. Interactions with different members of Organization XIII are only left to that––interactions––until a much later and unsatisfying point in the game. I won't delve into this, but will just say it leaves a lot to be desired.

This erratic pacing really stifles the charm of KH3. We're never given enough time with each party to feel something for them. Kairi and Axel, in particular, become not much more than one-dimensional pawns that do little beyond standing a side. And this is a real shame because we were made to care deeply about Kairi up to this point, and it feels this wasn't acknowledged properly.

All of these elements make KH3 feel like it had the bones, but little meat to survive off of. It felt more of a fan-provoked conclusion than an outright game for newcomers and series faithfuls alike.

While there may be only seven worlds in this game, The Caribbean and San Fransokyo in particular show the scale and dynamism of what COULD have been. And reaching these worlds with the gummiship has become a lot more enjoyable and expansive. However, these are just shades of good thoughts that get bogged down by the poor pace, other narrow worlds, cumbersome cutscenes, and lack of satisfying enemy encounters.

There is heart in Kingdom Hearts 3, it's just not full of it.

There are a lot of things that KH3 gets right but also alot of things that haven't been updated since KH2. I haven't finished the game yet but have put enough time in with KH3 to give my review. I'm about 18 hours in and about a little over halfway through the game. First I want to point out that the graphics look amazing, hands down the best visually looking KH. I feel like nothing has changed from how the worlds are laid out. Everything is funneled through corridors, the environments are beautiful at times and then also empty hallways that you just keep running through. Gameplay is great, smooth and easy to use. The theme park summons are awesome to look at but eventually get repetitive as they are easy to summon every battle. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty - proud mode and I feel like I'm playing on easy, there is not much of a challenge even for boss fights. I really want to enjoy the story and there is some entertaining parts, but its definitely cheesy and cringey sometimes, also the story just seems to get more convoluted then it already was. The damn gummi ship is something they could get rid of and I wouldn't even bat an eye, it's such a **** filler mechanic that's not needed or even better since KH2. Is KH3 fun? Yes it definitely is if you've played the series before. veterans need to take of their nostalgia glasses you'll see that there are alot of things that could have been much better especially after waiting 13 years. New comers to the series I believe will be asking them self's what the f is this game made for little kids. KH3 is an ok addition to the franchise but it definitely felt like the dev's rushed this game out. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played every Kingdom Hearts game and i have been a fan since i was 11. After finishing the game i feel very conflicted. Every Pro i can think of has a Negative attached (I guess you can't have light without it casting a shadow).

+Combat is frantic, varied, fun and flashy.
-All the combat options makes the game way to easy on proud mode, enemies become punching bags.

+The Disney worlds are mostly fun and introduce different mechanics.
-The Disney worlds feel more tacked on in this game than In previous entries. Why is Sora even visiting these worlds? They feel less crucial to Sora's development and they don't really move the main conflict forward. The pacing in this game is off.

+The final conflict was full of action and it was great seeing all the characters working together.
-The final conflict also felt rushed, underdeveloped and introduced a ton of questions and plot holes. For example, the Final World did not make any since to me and the time travel elements were equally confusing.

+ The ending had all of our characters happy and reunited!
-Sora and Kairi return but Sora pulls a Luke Skywalker without any explanation and it ripped the rug right from underneath me. It was discouraging to spend over a decade with this series and these characters just to have Sora not get a happy ending.

This is where the darkness prevails...

-Kairi and Axel had barely any development.
-Cut scenes were way too long and the amount of exposition dumps were ridiculous.
-No real surprises in the story (Besides the ending which felt more cheap than interesting).
-Too much time wasted setting up a future for the franchise instead of developing the current story. (Ex: Maleficent and Pete searching for the Box)
-The final Boss was super easy and anticlimactic.

I had a lot of fun playing this game but the story was a mess and didn't resonate with me like the other games did. Raised more questions than it answered and the Disney to Square ratio felt uneven and poorly paced.

Overall, This game plays as any other Kingdom Heart game, although, it does tend to be easier because as you begin your journey you are given so many options to use at your disposal with no consequences. But this game is beautiful and I found myself really enjoying it and loving it. The pros really outweighs the cons, as the cons are very minimal. I was pleased with the end of the Xehanort saga and excited to see where they decide to go with the next saga.

Fans of the franchise have been waiting almost two decades for Kingdom Hearts 3, so now that it's finally here, how well does it stand up against it's memory with an aging fan base?

For all intents and purposes it's a Kingdom Hearts game through and through. It still has the same spirit and soul that the previous entires in the game have. The combat mechanics have been refined fairly well, without straying too far from the path. The game looks about as good as it ever did.

With that being said, there are some flaws in this diamond.

To begin with, there is a technical aspect to the game that can sometimes be borderline disappointing. When the Xbox One and Playstation 4 Pro made their debuts, both companies made a point to hammer in the fact that all games would work across all consoles, games wouldn't suffer on the older hardware, but instead, users could expect a better, more premium experience with the newer, updated models of hardware.

Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case with Kingdom Hearts 3. Playing on the original PS4 or the Slimline models, players are going to be faced with slightly muddier colors, jagged textures and a frames issue that can bounce anywhere from 60FPS, to 30FPS and in some cases, down into the low twenties. It's 2019, this game has been in development for 15 years, this kind of technical performance and occasional slow down isn't accetable anymore and I am surprised Square thought htis would be okay.

While the graphics look great on the Playstation 4, many of the character models have a tendency to lack emotions in their faces. A lot of the times, they look like pieces of clay that are talking. This tends to lead to a lot of weird, uncanny valley moments where the dialog being spoken isn't being properly displayed on faces.

The dialog and writing is another aspect really aren't up to standard. A lot of the English voice acting sounds off, not a lot, but enough for people to question what's going on. How characters talk and the inflection of their voices aren't always great and a lot of the dialog can come off as overly cheesy.

One of the most early surprises in the game for many people familiar with the franchise is a complete lack of dialog from Phil. A character that is usually overly chatty and sarcastic is completely silent in the game, giving them an almost errie feeling. This was a terrible decision from Square and it's one of the most obvious glairing flaws early on in the game.

Finally, for a game franchise that started off with quite a bit of darker undertones, more often than not, the game feels way too overly cheery and feels like Disney had a much larger impact on the development of the game, going as far as having special movies, skills and spells that actually mimic some of their well known attraction park rides. The game, writing and dialog feels overly optimistic to the point that it negatively impacts the game.

At the end of the day, it's a great game with some flaws that I feel like, personally, could have been buffed out if Square simply had paid a bit closer attention to details.

They built up Kairi to be this bad ass keyblade wielder, promising to protect Sora this time, became the damsel in distress for the **** 3rd time.

Story wise is ok, isn't the greatest story they're hyping it to be. Sora journeying his way to find the power of waking....only to not find it, but after saving Aqua and her fighting with Vanitas. Sora gets a call from Ventus from within telling him it's been inside him all this time.......You mean to tell me I went through all that **** and it's been in me all along?! When I could've been with Riku and Mickey saving Aqua as fast as possible instead of wasting my time saving a bunch of Disney movie characters....Just what the **** man.

Xehanort doesn't even interact with the characters that much but instead his stupid butt ugly heartless, unverse, nobody minions and weeaboo cronies are doing the medling with Sora and his gang.

Nomura then pulls a Naruto Shippuden and reveals Xigbar to be the "real" puppet master pulling the strings all along.

Anyway, the story is just a complete 180 turn for the worst. It's not great, it's just a giant convoluted mess. Not enough character interaction, it tries to be about building characters and their story, but Normura just doesn't give enough time to flesh out these characters. After saving them, they're just "ok what ever, nobody cares for you anymore" type of ordeal.

Well they're setting up for the next Kingdom Hearts game and I really want to see more interaction with the wayfinder trio, nobody trios interact with one another.

Now story aside, the gameplay is fun, easy, hack and slash. Much easier than the other games. All of the bosses are an embarrassment to the other kingdom hearts titles. Wtf was that Scala Ad Caelum boss fight with the 13 darknesses. That hide and seek **** was stupid as hell.

The game is very short compare to Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. I felt that this game was rushed. I finished it very quickly compare to the other titles.

Oh and some of the lines felt very off to me especially Hiro in Big Hero Six world. The acting direction for him, just what happen to him? As I recall from watching the film, I don't remember him being way over the top. Speaking of which, there's barely interaction with the disney characters and Sora. Especially Frozen's world.

Gummiship, hell no. I hated that part of the game.

I had fun with the game, but the story, lack of character interaction, and ridiculous cheesy plot twists just sometimes put me off of the game. The gummiship too, it's just not fun anymore.

Would I replay it again? Sure, but not for a VERY,VERY, VERY LONG TIME. I might come back in 8 years. When Nomura eventually gives up on convoluting this damn franchise and give it a proper ending. Then sure, I'd come back.

the battles: pretty much button mash and wait for your power moves than use them that's it.

pointless game mechanics: don't even bother cooking you don't or will ever need the extra bonuses it gives you.

if you ever expect to craft the best equips you won't be able to because the game never gives you the gems you need until later when you won't need the gear.

lame winnie the turd level: don't even know why this is in the game if i wanted to play annoying puzzle games i'll download them on my phone!

AP is practically given to you: in kh2 you had to strategize what you wanted to spend your AP on which abilities welp not in this you get so much AP and gear that triples it for you that you can have every single ability you want..

the level design: every level is pretty much the story run until enemies appear , kill them than continue while finding chests along the way. there is hardly any exploration whatsoever. and every level is so damn small you'll just breeze right through them.

ship building pointless now: what i loved in kh2 was how you can design your own ship in this there are actual hubs you can fly through and you get to choose what shoot em up battles you want to do...but they even managed to stuff that up you see there are these crystals and if you get them all they unlock uber OP ships where how many parts, weapons and other stuff you can have on them don't matter.

cooking is pointless: you can collect ingredients and do stupid mini games to unlock meals you can eat that give you boosts to your stats...but you'll never need them the game throws so many powerups and abilities at you during battle you pretty much just sit there and push X!

    what i liked
    ==========
    - graphics look great. runs perfect on the PRO
    - toy story level was well designed (pretty much the only decent world in the whole game)
    - was fun exploring the sea in potc level too bad there wasn't more of it.
    - the space hub was a nice touch but felt empty still

    what i hated
    ===========
    - the attractions make it too easy
    - too many team moves that cheese battles
    - your keyblade special moves are too OP
    - the frozen level and it''s lame singing (yes it's in there) thankfully you can skip cut scenes though
    - the sled part in the frozen level
    - the pirate race
    - winnie the turd level and it's lame AF puzzles
    - cooking...waste of time
    - battles pretty much button mash X
    - too many mini game levels
    - too many cut scsnes
    - you never get the gems you need at the right time making crafting annoying.

That's these certain sites fault for not letting someone review the game who has a knowledge of this series' lore. If you wanna get this game, I recommend not reading critics' reviews and play or learn the lore before KH3. I personally find reviews useless now a days, because most of them are opinion based. Everyone will have a different opinion to this game, so I'd try it out after learning the lore and you give your own opinion, don't let someone else's point of view good or bad deter you from making your own. That being said in my opinion I love this game so much, and have been following the KIngdom Hearts series for 13 years now, and will continue to do so.

As someone who has played previous entries in the series more times than I'd like to admit, I have to say that I am sorely disappointed in this game.

I tried to write an in depth review in here offering my critiques, but apparently 5000 characters is no where even close to enough to cover it, but I've done my best to shrink my massive list to 3 general catagories.

First, and the smallest, is the lack of any difficulty whatsoever. Barring the final battle, not a single fight in this game was memorable. They were so easy in fact, that I'd even go as far as to say it was a disservice to certain villains. Enemies who we fought throughout the series and who required some strategy or forethought in previous entries are complete pushovers here. This unto itself isn't necessarily game breaking however, as this could potentially be remedied in a later patch with the inclusion of critical mode.

The second issue however, is a more complicated issue, and it is that of the gameplay itself. Some mechanics are unbalanced, and I frequently felt as though the game was registering my inputs way earlier than it should (for example, I would stop attacking in order to dodge or block, and Sora would continue with his combo for up to 3 strikes! This didn't prove to be too much of an issue given how easy the game was overall, but if the game had actually been on the same difficulty level as say BBS, this would make gameplay needlessly irritating). Other abilities, namely the attractions, are ridiculously overpowered. It is essentially an I-WIN button that pops up every 10 seconds or so, and cannot be turned off. Fortunately you can choose not to use them by cycling through your proc abilities with the L2 button, but adding an 'off' button would dramatically improve the quality of life for players who feel they make the game too easy.

The third, and most glaring issue for me, and the one which ruined it for me, was the complete lack of narrative cohesion throughout the game on both the small scale (the individual Disney worlds), as well as the large (the over arcing story). I won't go into too much detail here, as I don't want to include spoilers.

The individual Disney worlds have awkward moments that you will not be able to follow unless you've seen the movies (Tangled, Frozen), and are overall simple and lazy copy-and-paste versions of the movies.

Even more troubling and game-breaking is the over-arcing story, which is rushed and crammed in to the last few hours. The writers do a poor job of explaining what exactly is happening, to the point where it seems (and I still believe they did) break their own world rules.

I don't know where the game I've waited to play for so long is, but this certainly wasn't it. And were it not for the fact that I made the mistake of purchasing a non-refundable digital copy, I would be seeking a refund- something I have never done in my entire gaming life.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all I'll be honest after completing the game I have no idea what the story was about ended up just skipping a lot of the later half of the cut scenes they seemed to come along every five minutes and i literally cant remember the other half outside of vague impressions.

The basic combat is ok you get attractions way to much and the combos a so bland it gets tedious. movement is the worse though Sora is so slow until you get the skill that attracts you to the enemy you are targeting but that doesn't help much.

The 'worlds' are pathetic outside of the graphics which are well done. they are basically paths for you to go through during the main quest once you've visited once there is pretty much nothing else to see the only exception being he Caribbean but while there a some small islands to explore, you'll only get a couple of chests and an enemy encounter or two.

You'll see no characters from Final Fantasy, why? because they weren't need to sell copies.

Really can not think of much else, i will say what there is of the game give the impression that the company just wanted to do the minimum required to get the game to past fans and rely on that to move copies. It seems to have worked as a lot of people seem to love it , not really sure where that is coming from at all.

To conclude this glorified rant the game is worth buying for like 20-30 pound wouldn't recommend it for any higher. the main issue is the obvious potential wasted because square put the least amount of effort they possibly could with out pissing of fans. The game could have so much more.

As much as story can look tangled if u listen and are interested in, you will find your way to understanding. Don´t get scared just because someone says its SUPER complicated, its just a matter of wanting to know ;)

For gameplay, lets say Im not player that immedietly goes for hard/critical mode. I fully enjoyed standard difficulity, which fully lets you enjoy story. If you prefer challenge there´s always hard mode, maybe in future they will even add critical. Lets not forget this game was meant for all age categories a bit easier difficulity was to be expected. Sora´s movements looks natural and fights are fun, with added abilities each keyblade has different even more.

As some complained about „old graphics“ I can´t agree on that. Game has awesome coat and every emotion on Soras face just makes you feel all of it with him, two worlds meets in this game (cartoon and anime) and uses best of both of those to the fullest.

SQ didn´t disappoint and KH 3 is succes. Only dissappointment are some critics, I don´t really understand how u can critize a game with story based on friendship, hearts and darkness for what its based on. Its same as critize Batman for being too dark, u just can´t expect Batman to be bright, shiny and smiling from ear to ear.
Hope new generation will throw prejudices away and gives this series a try for this series deffinetly deserves it. (Please excuse mistakes, english isn´t my native language)

Kingdom Hearts 3 attempts at adding new mechanics are void of fun after the first hour and only work to detract from the game. It feels as though you hardly get to fight normally due to the surplus of special attacks that are constantly being thrown at you and trying to ignore these extra attacks will only result a slow tedious battle every time. The gameplay is filled with gimmicks. half the time your off doing something stupid like piloting the Gummi ship, piloting a pirate ship, collecting items to progress, riding a mech, dancing, or watching 10 years worth of cutscenes, which brings me to my greatest complaint. Kingdom Hearts has always had incredibly directed cutscenes with really memorable moments. KH3 failed to deliver entirely and the cutscenes feel weird and forced.Very upsetting to see considering the last KH game they made, although flawed, was very enjoyable. Expand

Listen, I'm coming into this game as a long time super fan but I had very measured expectations, given the long and rough development cycle. But now that I've finished it I can say with a clear heart this game has lowered the bar. I cannot begin to fathom the overwhelming praise for what has to be the singular worst title in the entire franchise.

First off, combat is inconsequential, even playing on Proud and staying very under-leveled throughout the game. This is really disappointing because the franchise made some great strides in the experimental side games, but seems to have thrown it all out in favor of adding more and more variations on reaction commands that clutter up the screen and take control away from the player. A huge portion of the game consists of a vast array mini-games, vehicles, or other gimmicks. I wouldn't be irate about this if the core of the game didn't feel completely neglected by the number of distractions. It feels like such a massive step backwards it stepped back past Kingdom Hearts and into a collect-a-thon platformer from the early PS1 era. And even that's not fun, as most of the collecting is trivial time-wasting garbage like scouring around for places to take selfies, which is actually essential for the real ending movie.

Though they went 'open world' and removed the load doors in most parts of the levels the worlds are a lot smaller in feel. The larger scale ones are merely bloated with empty space and massive chunks of the Disney plots have been sheared out of their respective worlds. I honestly though I might have fallen asleep during a cutscene in one world because the entire middle of the plot was missing! A character started calling another one by an entirely different name out of nowhere. If I hadn't seen the movie it was based on I would have NO IDEA what was going on. Other worlds didn't fair much better and most can be completed in little-to-no time, with the bulk of it being cutscenes. Two of the already abysmally small selection of worlds consists of a single room/story point and then leaving. There are so few worlds, and they are so barren of anything to do, you have to wonder why the game was in development hell for so long. It's honestly inexcusable.

There are all kinds of technical things I could harp on and on about, but at the end of the day I know that most fans will put up with problematic cameras and phoned in voice-acting if they're at least having fun. And to me that was the most damning part; I wasn't having fun. For a huge amount of the game I was bored to tears. If the combat isn't engaging, and the mini-games are a waste of time, then what is there left? The story?

The story doesn't even begin to happen until you enter the last third of the game. While I know it's a bit of a meme to say Square-Enix games typically get really good about 20 hours in, I've never thought of it as being literal until now. So was it worth slogging through the first two-thirds for the sweet, sweet closure us long time fans have been aching for?

Honestly? No. I think this game is an embarrassment. I don't think it should have been put out in the state it's in. It feels like not even half way finished, like the suits at Square snatched a prototype out of Nomura's hands and flung it on the shelves. I don't think it's unfair of me to judge the game harshly for it's tiny scale, lack of ambition, it's missing plot lines, grossly devolved combat, bad voice acting, and worst of all 2/3rds of boring filler in a 20 hour game. Especially not when they had over a decade to get the game right.

Look, I wasn't expecting anything perfect. I wasn't expecting much of anything at all. A bit of nostalgia, a bit of closure, a couple of laughs at the cornball dialogue I'd come to love. But this is a disaster. This is the definitive version of "I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed". This game would have had to do so little to please me, it's almost like it intentionally missed the mark every way it possibly could. The only, and I mean only, redeeming thing is the soundtrack, and for that I give it one star.

If you are a die-hard fan seeking to send off the series, do yourself a favor and watch the cut scenes on youtube. Don't ruin the magic of an actually pretty sweet ending by playing such a bitter game.

The costumes and items you get are again, very uninspired. Who approved the toy story skins?

The enemies are out of place. In the last main games they were following a theme. You go the Agrabah, all the heartless are going to be Arab looking and using fire or something like that, you go to visit Jack Skeleton and the monsters are all spooky and **** KH3 just keeps throwing random **** at you 80% of the times.

And the worlds ? They are just tunnels for you to pass through and never look back. No place you cannot reach without a new ability or some thinking. Even opening the chests feel like a letdown... both in appearance and content... great, other items that I will never use since the game is way to easy.

The gummy-ship mini game that is forced upon you every time you want to reach a new location , while not my favourite bit in the past, now is just a tedious mess. The couldn’t have used a worse perspective for it even if they tried. You have no idea how distant the bullets are from your ship but again, just keep going up and down randomly and you can proceed, no skills involved.

Most of all there isn’t enough Disney.

And lastly, I think the new art style is just bad compared to the old, hand painted one. Sure, you didn’t get fancy lights and shaders but if you play the remasters they still look fine after many years and they are still quite charming. This one is already looking less the ideal at times, like Mickey Mouse face looking like a cheap 3D cartoon made for the Tv

Firstly this game is significantly shorter than KH2. Part of this is due to combat. Fights are far less memorable as it is completely unnecessary to learn the attack set of bosses. It's hardly necessary to even dodge that much since hits, even from the final boss, are not very damaging. I died a grand total of one time in my 30hr proud playthrough, even though I was underleveled for nearly every world. Getting what's essentially a drive form every 6 or 7 strokes of the keyblade is extremely overpowered.

The plot development is poor. In KH2 there was significant buildup by first getting rid of sometimes massive heartless (pridelands) to eventually having a very difficult fight against each organization member boss battle. Even Demyx was a bit of a challenge. Here we go through a few world's for what's essentially no reason (they don't need saving or anything of the sort) all the while having no fights with organization members except for the short OP joke with Aqua against ...
As an aside, there could have been much better buildup leading to getting back both of Aqua's friends, but there isn't. It basically just happens.
Shortly after Aqua's battle we suddenly then fight multiple bosses who are rather weak, a joke compared to their versions in previous games. And then we basically end up finishing the game with an unmemorable final boss, not ever knowing what actually was beyond the world he sought.

KH3 is beautiful and a decent end to many loose ends. But those ends are tied up too hastily, with us oftentimes barely having to put any effort in to fighting for tying up those ends. At the same time we are given content which has nothing to do with building up a conclusion to those loose ends, such as the extraordinarily long plough though Frozen.

TLDR; Combat needs be seriously rebalanced, being more similar to KH2 or DDD. Plot buildup could have been much better than it was.

Pros: True to KH fashion, things that made you love the first game are still in the third installment. It FEELS like a KH game, which to be honest, I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing considering it is now 2019, and the last game on a major console was 2006. Part of me was kind of wishing for more game mechanics that are a part of this decade, but it's not unbearable and I'll just chalk it up to this being a KH game.

-The story, for all it's mess did make an improvement from the abyss it had fallen into, although it was super repetitive at times and the voice acting was awful, it did surface from the grave.

Some of the combat was nice when it came to editing your skills and equipment, but other than that it was a major con.

All in all it's a decent game, but not to the cons...

    Cons:
It's like they changed what was good about the previous games and made it worse.

    - The WORLDS! Whatever happen to open worlds?! Each world has become too linear for my liking. A game that came out in 2002 shouldn't have more world to explore than a game that comes out in 2019. Sometimes I felt that the world were just stepping stones for the sake of time and never really added to the story, and with no real exploration in each world it easily became boring.

Combat - The 2nd game had the best combat by far - these weird Disney ride commands made some of the combat unbearable. While there were some pros, like being able to switch your keyblade, I found the combat with the camera angles at times unbearable.

Overall it was an OKAY game in terms of it being a game. If you are a fan of the series you will most likely like this game. I am a bit disappointed in some part of the game considering it is now 2019 and I have seen some amazing things done in games that I wished KH would have adopted.

13 long years since the release of Kingdom Hearts 2 and i think we all have been very eager to get our hands on Kingdom hearts 3. The story feels well written even though a lot of things are very hard to explain, the relation between heartless, nobodies, the organisation and of course kingdom hearts. The story is very linear, and there are some extra content wich will keep you entertained besides the main story. But as i mentioned earlier i do lack content and elements from kingdom hearts 2, for exampel the wide range of equipment and the ability to craft objects. One other thing is that it felt like they had some problems with music rights. The pirates of the Caribbean arch does not have its original score and i think that there is one other world as well. I do also miss some characters that have been totally excluded, no final fantasy characters at all. Well it can not be easy for the developpers to meet the expectations, but again 13 years, so i definitely feel like they could have made improvements. The controls feels very sharp even though during some fights the camera angle really went bananas. But if you have played any other title in the series it will feel very natural. I do like the fact that they have included game mechanics from other titles such as kingdom hearts birth by sleep. The dialog is okay but nothing extraordinary, but it does feel like a rushed job at some points. It was a really bold move of the developpers to switch to unreal engine... which could be one of the reason to why it feels rushed and the lack of content. But visually the game looks really nice, the light and textures gives you a very nice visual.

    Pros:
    Nice visuals
    Sharp control
    Good game mechanics
    User friendly

    Cons:
    Lack of content
    Linear story
    Removed elements from earlier titles
    Short overall gameplay

Well to summarize everything... Kingdom hearts 3 is a very easy game to set up and to play, there are lots of turtorials and the game is very forgiving. The story feels well written but everything feels a bit rushed and short. Since i am a huge fan of the franchise i felt it was worth the money, but honestly i don't think that it's worth 60 dollars for the approximately 30 hours of main story...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic game filled with memorable world's. The combat is clearly the height of the series, and the graphics are top notch. It does get a little disorienting to see the old graphics in flashbacks, but it's in no way a detriment to the game. In fact, it does more to show how far the graphics have come in a single leap.

But the reason we're all here is closure, and guess what? You'll get about 99% of the closure you're asking for. Think of a character arc you want completed- yes. It finishes. Well, almost all of them. Isa and Lea are clearly going to have a bigger role in the next game.

What's that? Next game? Yes, KH3 is the conclusion to the Xehanort Saga, not the series as a whole. Union X introduced a ton of new plot elements that still need addressing, and an entirely new plot element is alluded to by Isa and Lea regularly. But hey, we get to see Luxu's face.

    WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!

Most of the fans were aware of these bad reviews. Either from it being leaked and spoiling it for everyone before the game releases so they give it bad reviews for knowing everything that happens or from share lack of knowledge because they didn't invest time into the other games.

They clearly said that to understand what is going on in the story you will need knowledge from the majority of other games released for the title. If you have not played the other titles then in my opinion you have no right to review this game. playing this game without knowing the backstories and reviewing it is the equivalent of someone trying to understand a series after only watching its 6th season. This story feels like its mainly around the Back Cover movie that comes with the 2.8 remix id say, just watching that will give you enough to go on, but for the fans who have played the other games they will understand references alot better and have a better understanding.

now with that all covered. The graphics are stunning and beautiful, i honestly couldnt believe how beautiful it looks, it reminded me much of 0.2 in terms of graphic and fighting style system. I feel like the combat system is much better than it was in the demo, people often complained about the combat being "floaty" while in the air. It has been fixed from what i have experienced and skipping "Attractions" is now also a option. Attractions in the game can be activated by simply fighting with enemies, you may have multiple attractions or actions you can activate and you can cycle through them as well just incase you wanted to keep one for a specific occasion ( but they do have timers until they dissapear so use them before it runs out ) i think SE had the mindset of making this game feel very fun than anything else and they definatley nailed that aspect with this game being so visually stunning and making you smile from its animations and flashy moves. They really tried making sora feel very strong but at the same time hit the child inside of us all in making us feel very happy from seeing all the disney and pixar worlds.

In terms of the keyblades i think this is depending on your playstyle. I personally only had 2 that fit the playstyle that i prefered. The Everafter blade you get early on and i basically used that for over 95 percent of my playthrough. although you can now wield 3 keyblades at one time, them all being useful is a different story, but once again that is just my playstyle and is different per person.

The gummi ship is really fun adding now a exploring aspect of it where you can not just create and build your ship like in previous games but can now explore using it which was a bit weird at first but it did slowly grow on me.

i didnt give this game a 10 even tho i deeply think it may deserve it. Its worlds are amazing and 1 in particular being so huge in comparison to the others which i called Assassins Creed Black Caribbean. its just a shame alot of the other worlds didnt hit the amazement you would have hoped. Dont get me wrong there is amazing and stunning worlds filled with amazing things to do, but some were a little underwhelming and could have used some more love. Its unfortunate that most of the trailers and leaks showed off all the worlds and kinda left you knowing what to expect and that hurt it in the reviews as you would expect.

If you're a kingdom hearts fan this is a must by in my opinion. If you're not and have not played or not know much about the story then you will be confused and underwhelmed. If you would like to have a good idea what is going on i could suggest playing 2.8 remix 1 and 2 as well. But if you're short on time id suggest just watch Back Cover which comes with 2.8.

People who have given this bad reviews don't deserve to review this game as they have no clue about the story. And therefore cannot review it, It was made for the fans and for the people who know what is going on in the series, if you don't know what is going on your review doesn't hold much value.

We still had the other games to hold us over between KH2 and 3, so it wasn't as long of a wait as many complain about, since in that time we got so much story and the series was really fleshed out.

I am somewhat disappointed that there's no Final Fantasy characters in the series anymore, being a big fan of Final Fantasy and the series starting out with the appeal of FF characters crossover with Disney, but I get it. The games became such a big thing on its own and added so many unique characters of their own to substitute, that the FF characters no longer have a place in that universe. Also, FF is saturated with crossovers in all the other recent FF games now, so besides maybe one or two FF superbosses, it's probably a good thing there is no FF characters in KH anymore.

Aside from that, the combat is super fun with the transformation keyblades, there are a lot of mini games to play and things to do for side content. I'm going to go back myself and do all the side content now, maybe try to unlock the secret ending, and all that fun stuff. It's definitely worth the full price if you're holding back and waiting for a price drop.

But does kingdom hearts 3 deliver? Well yes it indeed does and exceeds this. Kingdom hearts 3 is a magical and most action packed adventure sora and the gang have been on yet, not to mention the most gorgeous. The use of the unreal engine 4 shines to make each cut scene, each action sequence, and every interaction memorable, it is almost hard to believe the visual fidelity that kingdom hearts 3 has at times. The writing takes a better approach, with jokes landing more often than not, and some truly emotional, while also cheesy scenes, however the writing captures the best of kingdom hearts cheese and all. The gameplay is the best the series has to offer as well! From flow motion from ddd, to the shotlocks from birth by sleep the combat takes the best from the series and enhances it also introducing its own original ideas. The combat is so vast that often times more often than not each encounter can have completely different ways of play. Another thing is enemy variety, each world has unique enemies and figuring out the best strategy makes kingdom hearts 3 all the more enjoyable. This is a satisfying conclusion to the story that began in kingdom hearts 1 and I am thoroughly eager to see where the series goes in the future, Kingdom hearts 3 is one of the best games of recent years, and is without a doubt the best in the series. Even newcomers will find enjoyment here, kingdom hearts 3 is a masterpiece, for hardcore fans and newcomers alike. Expand

The only thing that disappoints me is that while some worlds have big maps, others are too small. Twilight Town is only 2 areas and 100 acre wood is literally only Rabbit's house where you play the same mini game 3 times. Another disappointment was the FF characters (Squall, Cid, Cloud, etc.) were all taken out for some reason. Great game but it feels like it is missing important characters for what is the final game in the Xehanort saga.

Very few, if any games are worth 0/10 in the very same way as 10/10 reviews - it's illogical and childish to review things this way. Like many sad review-bombers, he has an agenda based around artificially altering the median user score. Metacritic do nothing to curb this kind of behaviour, and as a result, have become a laughing stock instead of a trusted review site.

Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't much of a departure from previous games aside from missing some of the JRPG characters of the previous games. Colourful and bright visuals, RPG-lite gameplay, lots of varied locations. Fans' expectations are always inflated when a game is lost in development hell for so long so it's likely to disappoint some fans, but overall it's a solid game. Some people will of course give it 0/10 because they hide behind internet anonymity to behave like losers, and some people will , for the same reasons, rate the game 10/10 because they refuse to see any flaws and are in denial.

Graphics are visually stunning, and my gen 1 standard PS4 was able to run it at 60fps. Gameplay, while not as fluid and challenging as Kingdom Hearts 2, is absolutely stellar in almost every regard. Music, as expected, is also top notch with all new remixes and reorchestrations, although I was a little disappointed by how much they reused from KH2.5. The story is also one of the most accessible in the series since KH2 - people complaining about the story being complicated probably just heard it from somewhere else and said "Yes, this is my opinion now." If you pay attention, you'll be able to grasp the story quite easily. While you won't understand everything and you can be confused sometimes, it is still a pleasant thing to experience.

Disney worlds are also very, very beautiful. Sometimes, they look just like if not better than the movies they're based on. They're vast, so it's a shame that invisible walls are so frequent, but I can understand why they're there from a game design standpoint. Another issue I have is with attraction flow, as it can be a little too powerful, even on the higher difficulties.

Please, if you're on the fence on this, whether you're a KH fan or not, do yourself the favor and buy this game. I seriously doubt that you'll be disappointed. :)

Hopefully this game sells 10 million copies and forces Disney and SE to partner up more. The one minor negative I'd give it is that while the voice acting is excellent the fact that audio is recorded in many languages is obvious in most cut-scenes and leads to some strange timing/pauses, I don't know how expensive it would be to rewire these to be language-specific but it would significantly improve the occasionally-awkward timing of dialogue. I can't get over how fantastic and varied the abilities in this game are, I'm confident I'm not even close to seeing them all and there are already dozens of good ways to win any given fight, it's incredible. *combat*
    let's start with the combat.
Kingdom Hearts 3 has the most dumbed down & insulting system I have ever experienced. What they did to the combat system is absolutely disgusting. instead of having a proper command menu, 80% of your options are all locked behind "Situation Commands" which are spoon fed to you at the games discretion. All that's required of you is that you press triangle. It's a mindless streamlined system designed to take away your freedom & play the game for you. Players choice, responsibility & resource management have been stripped away to accommodate incompetent & less intelligent players at the cost of competent players as there's no way for them to get control. Situation commands are unreliable, cheap, limited free garbage the game gives you and many of them are random. You have no drive gauge & they removed drive forms. Some of the new transformations are good but again they're held back by the casualised situation system which I assume was put in the game so toddlers could complete it.

Soras new attack animations are wonky & all over the place. not clean, quick and focused like KH2's. this results in worse combat feel. standard attacks over all just feel like a cheap imitation of KH2's attacks when they should feel better.

Combat is flashy but not flashy in a functional way. The game values flashiness over substance. Many of your "attacks" in combat are just glorified cutscenes now. limits in this game have been neutered. For example Donalds limits in KH2 were gameplay. They had timing depth, combo potential & required smart use.
In KH3 Donalds limits are cutscenes that have no gameplay value at all. you just press triangle and the cutscene plays out. there's also far less variety in combat. KH2 had 14 partner limits. KH3 only has 11 and a bunch of them are just cutscenes.
Summons in this game are not really summons. they've essentially been reduced to single limits & the majority of them suck & have no viable use.
instead of reaction commands we have a handful of big, out of place Disney rides. they suck. it's all obnoxious, goofy looking garbage that interrupts your gameplay.

This game has serious balance issues that need to be fixed. There's no critical mode and every other mode is too easy.
lvl1 proud mode is almost unplayable and was clearly never tested by the devs. yet they still put it in.
there's no proper level scaling & enemy placement & behaviour is not solid or well thought out.
    *movement*
There's more platforming now which I wanted but Soras basic movement hasn't been improved from 2 and now he has more clunky moves. at no point in the game does platforming flow together well. it always feels really disjointed.
    *camera*
The camera is a nightmare to deal with. constantly fighting with you for control, will often get stuck behind things & will often zoom off so Sora isn't even on screen.

    -BOSSES-
Bossfights range from serviceable to down right terrible.
Kingdom Hearts 2 had 60+ bosses & the quality of those fights was higher
KH3 has a measly 28, including the secret boss & 4 of those are the same heartless swarm again.

    -WORLDS-
Twilight Town? It's only 2 areas.
100 Acre Wood? more like 1 Acre Wood. it's 1 minigame at rabbits house.
    Yeah a lot of these 'worlds' aren't even worlds. they're 1 or 2 rooms. there's only really 7 worlds (KH2 had 15)
they're fairly big but filled with invisible walls and the art direction is ruined by the obnoxious white shine on walls, polls ect that you can't turn off.
Shorter & less content. a lot of what inflates the hours is the cutscenes & super long loading screens. which brings me to the performance. framerate is unstable with regular frame drops thru out the game (and due to some sort of weird optimisation many characters animations often go all choppy).

    -STORY-
The story is as poorly written & stupid as ever. It's such a tangled mess of bloated, unnecessary nonsense now, the writers can't even keep track of their own characters. The usual incoherent gibberish of "darkness, hearts, darkness, friendship" is all there but now it's more repetitive than ever.
The dialogue is still poorly written. World endings are usually the worst.
The 'humour' in this game consists of characters laughing like morons at something thats not remotely funny as the camera pans out.
The story is so phoned in, even the characters start phoning it in.
Characters go from being total powerhouses to complete drooling potatoes in cutscenes.
There's one cutscene in the final battle where Sora actually gets knocked unconscious from another character stumbling & falling over on him. I'm not joking. The ending is complete fan service trash & the main villain completely does a 180 on his character in the end and it's laughable and not not believable.

it's hard to believe KH3 has been in development for 7 years. it has a plethora of design problems & is a stripped down, lacklustre experience & a bad sequel

A long wait well worth our patience. Kingdom Hearts 3 meets all my expectations and expands upon the franchise. Combat is smooth and engaging while not being too different from what we already have in the series.

The game feels like it has matured in the years since KH2 and doesn't start off holding your hand. Worth every minute and cent that you spend on this game.

    Enjoy your adventure!

Disappointing to say the least. It's hard to to know where to begin with this game and where it falls short, because there are so many issues sprinkled throughout the experience.

Story: Everyone knows by now that the story is a mess, and the game doesn't do a good job of getting the player up to speed with everything that's happened. One of the biggest issues with the story is the pacing. The main plot of the battle between the cast and the nebulous organization 13 is often pushed to the backburner so the disney world antics can take center stage. I've seen fanboys defend this with "well that's exactly what happened in the other kh games" and some people actually consider that a counter argument, nuff said. It's also hard to take the plot seriously when the tone is all over the place. One second your having wacky adventures in a disney world that's pointless to the conclusion of the story and the next a weeb character is feeding you exposition on kingdom hearts lore. The story is stuck in this disappointing rhythm where fans of the serious will be bored of everything they already know being explained again, and newcomers being bombarded with exposition they don't understand. Also the final fantasy characters are gone now. I find it odd that a series that began as a crossover between disney and final fantasy is so willing to discard the things that put the series in the spotlight.

Combat: A mixed bag of repetitive actions is how I would describe it. Reaction commands are gone and have been replaced by "attractions" which are shallow reincarnations of disney theme park rides. While these moves may be fun and beautiful the first few times they get repetitive very quickly. Limit commands are there but only function as one off attacks. Drive forms and growth abilities are gone and have been replaced by form changes ala birth by sleep' charge meter. Form changes depend on what keyblade you're using and it's cool that you can now equip 3 and switch between them at any point. The form changes give you access to different movesets and are very flashy and pleasing to the eye. The combat in kh3 generally goes like this; Mash x, use form change or shotlock, mash x, press triangle. This would be fine if this was a ps2 game but this is 2019, the mechanics just don't improve upon anything that was established in 2.

Environments: The worlds are just as shallow as they always have been except even more linear, and there is only 8 this time around(some from previous games). They're usually empty and devoid of interesting content aside from the minigames(which are bad in their own right). Exploration has been trimmed down as well, remember gaining new abilities in 2 and being able to reach new areas/chests with said abilities? Gone. There are some interesting ways you get around though, "free flow" allows you to run on walls and move though the areas with relative ease.

Gummy ship: An improvement. You now can move freely between the worlds instead of the linear rail shooting stages of the previous entries. The editor is still there, I never touched it but Im glad that it's still a feature.

In conclusion kh3 is probably one of my most heartbreaking disappointments in the medium of entertainment that is video games. That may sound overly dramatic but Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 are games that me and many others hold close to our hearts as unforgettable experiences and 3 simply does not measure up to that in any form.

As a fan who's played every entry into the series, I went into this game skeptical to see if it'd live up to my expectations of a mainline Kingdom Hearts title. As some people are trolling and reviewing the game with a score of 0, I'm going to go ahead and put a 10.

This game is really good, excellent soundtrack, really fun gameplay and best worlds in the saga so far. There are also some funny easter eggs. Worth the wait and the money

the game is not what it used to.

combat has some good flow, but the amount of gimmics added to the game, makes it more a show to watch, rather than a good game to play.

the gummiship exploration seems to have been improved, and made overall better, which is enjoyable, so at least that is good about it.

the story is growing ever more complex than before, but the game seems to be designed for children, or at least young boys (which is true i guess), but the complexity of the story might not quite be for that audience, so there is a few issues here, but its hard to pinpoint more than that.

progression and stats have not yet quite made itself felt, so its tacked-on for now.

generally, kingdom hearts 3 makes me want to play kingdom hearts 1

Kingdom Hearts III doesn’t go in the direction some RPG fans will no doubt have been hoping for. It’s unashamedly over the top in just about every way, from its barmy story and stunning presentation to its huge cinematic battles. There’s plenty of depth here too, though you’ll need to find your bearings first.

There is no doubt that Kingdom Hearts III will make long term fans moved or even cry. As for those new to the franchise, I believe they also can be satisfied because of tons of classic Disney elements and solid combat system, even though they could barely understand the main story.

If you like animated movies from Disney and Pixar, and you want to relieve some of the key moments, welcome to Kingdom Hearts 3.
