Soundtracks, dialogue, gameplay and character interaction is spot on, especially for those that cleared Re:Mind content. My score does reflect Kingdom Hearts 3 without Re:Mind content. Counting Re:Mind, I would've most likely given 10.
Now that that is out of the way, new gameplay mechanics made the game very enjoyable. World exploration surpasses every previous title in this series.

Now that that is out of the way, new gameplay mechanics made the game very enjoyable. World exploration surpasses every previous title in this series. Mostly because world size is easily double, if not triple larger. You would think high def graphics would ruin such game but it turns out it still fit the genre. Story as usually great with some amount of confusion every now and then. Can't go without that.
Reason it's not 10 out of 10 lies in some story elements, but nothing major.

Kingdom Hearts III is SUPER good on some aspects, and pretty bad in others. Graphics, OST, Gameplay and animations are EASILY 10/10. Not even ONE critic. Re:Mind adds a lot to all of these aspects too.

However, the story and the pacing of the game is plain terrible. Specially if we take into account the fact it was a "conclusion" of sorts. Re:Mind fixed some of this and explained a few

Until after 2010 when Dream Drop Distance came out, which introduced Time travel and a new phone game which carried on the mediocre storyline additions and Kingdom Hearts 3 is a sequel from THAT, not KH2.

This game is not for newcomers since the devs expect you to have played DDD and KHUX. I got my brother into playing Kingdom Hearts to my surprise and he ended up loving KH1 and KH2, got bored with BbS and jumped into KH3 and hasnt played it since it came out - Mind you i did not express frustration to him, he just said that he really disliked the bad pacing and the boring empty big corridors of worlds with nothing in it. And that is exactly how the KH worlds are post 2010: Empty large towery areas with barely anything to do but open chests etc

Now the positives are definetly some to KH3, the graphics are good although the character models are downgraded, Kairi looks like an alternate 10 year old version of the super cool lookin KH2 version which appeared older and more realistic. But ok the battle system is amazing as usual, too floaty but still fun as always. Some character were way better written and more lively than others. One of the few characters i liked were Axel,Demyx and Vexen. It was exciting every time they were on the screen, they have the best scenes in the game along with Vanitas and the Monster inc characters imo The Unversed was a nice addition to the Monsters world and was very fitting. My favorite world by far, i ended up liking Tangled also, but not much else.

Conclusion i loved playing the first 10 hours of the game, kinda like FFXV. Then i feel like they rushed the game too much and the terrible story addition starts at the end of the game, while every single character comes back, even the ones you thought were dead. And now everyone is alive and no one can die which is a bummer. I personally feel the series ended with Kingdom Hearts 2, nothing happens after that because its just overwriting money grab with hardcore Disney restrictions and alternate timelines/time travel and unneccessary conviluted story additions.

They pressed every single character in the series into one soup just like Pirates of the Caribbean 3 did (the worst one) and ironically its the one we are forced to watch in this game. If you want to play good Kingdom Hearts games they are plenty but they all happen before 2010, you will see notable difference in quality if you exclude graphical changes for the PS4.

Expand

First KH game and III was a lot of fun. The gameplay is aesthetically pleasing and diverse, the fabricated storylines are interesting and overall it was fun exploring the different worlds Disney-Pixar have created.

    Cons:
    Game too short
    Story was meh

The Bosses in some worlds needs to be better

The conclusion here is it’s a great game not the best or terrible game and not the conclusion we all hoped for

However if you're a hardcore fan you might be disappointed with the pacing, a good chunk of the game is spent messing around in disney worlds that don't have alot to do with the story and 2 of which are just copies of the movies. However after a while the game's story really takes off and gets interesting, but thats because they stuff alot of the important moments at the end and because of that the end game gets very long.
GAMEPLAY: Before all the updates had been added the gameplay felt very lacking because of how easy the game was even on proud mode and how there wasn't any real reason or ability to use creative combos, couple that with the lack of good bosses made the gameplay very boring, however with the new updates the game gets alot harder if you choose Critical mode and the new abilities added makes the game a joy to play through, unfortunately if you want some fun boss fights you have to wait until the end or buy the re:mind dlc which does include some amazing bosses.
    PRESENTATION:
the game looks and sound great with some of the best music i've heard in games, though the frozen world does get a bit tiring to look at because of how the world uses the same color the entire time. Also the voice acting can be a bit of a mixed bag.
Overall I had a good time with the game but as a long time fan I felt frustrated at the story for spending so much time doing nothing when we should've been getting to experience big story moments earlier in the game and the lack of fun and interesting boss fights (excluding the endgame) in the base game made me not enjoy it as much as I hoped.

Excellent graphics, excellent soundtrack and audio. The fighting is amazing, although too flashy sometimes.
Although it totally fails to its prequels in terms of pace and dialogue.
KH 1 and 2 are 9 or 10 out of 10. This one failed too much after so many years. Square Enix, focus more on the story and places that the niche of the series would like to see more explored instead of flashy

Worlds are all visited and left in one sitting with no narrative reason apart from "Sora you are weak get stronger" (that's the plot btw).*

*Sora controls very awkwardly, the first thing I noticed when playing the game was Sora can even run in a circle with stuttering and skiing all over the place.* Gummi ship has been expanded into an ugly semi-open world map.* There is a lack of content and most of your playtime will be filled with endless upon endless cutscenes.* Most of which are boring. I skipped the second half of all of the Frozen cutscenes because it was just a retelling of the movie with no bearing on the rest of the game.* When it's fun, it's quite fun. The graphics are good, especially in certain levels of the game.
The soundtrack is great (Kingdom Hearts always deliver good music).
The story is mediocre. The gameplay is pretty fun, but a downgrade from Kingdom Hearts 2 apart from some small details. The game definitely feels rushed and incomplete and the DLC doesn't really fix it. It's not the best game of the saga, but an ok game

I felt like I was constantly in a Disney world when I really wanted to pursue the main story line and I got most of it in the last 4 hours of the game. This game felt too short and not fulfilling enough for me at all, compared to kingdom hearts 1, 2, Dream Drop, Birth by Sleep is was a big flop. Sora felt looked like he was 2 years younger instead of older, literally no one grew in age like they did from KH 1 to 2, and some complicated plot elements flopped in the end. Overall I wish this game had more engaging plot elements of finding and helping more characters like Roxas, Xion, Namine, Ventus, Terra, but in the end it all just happened too fast and for a majority of the game I was stuck playing dumb mini games in Disney worlds. Don’t get me wrong, the Disney worlds were fairly well designed, but felt more meaningful in the other Kingdom Hearts games when we actually did things relevant the story in-between, like going to Twilight Town, Traverse Town or Hollow Bastion. The only reason I still give it a 7/10 is because it’s still very beautiful to see all the characters reunite and see a long story come to some kind of happy conclusion. Just felt like it could have been way better for a franchise that has been so good up to this point. Expand

There is a certain homogenization that comes with the territory of using an engine such as unreal, the shaders and lighting system used don't really suit the aesthetic of the game and you end up with character models that look a bit weird. The music was a high point, I still find myself humming some of the world tunes now. The game forgets its roots, diving into the Disney aspect but forgetting the other half of the equation, it no longer feels like an imaginative, wacky crossover franchise and instead feels like a sterile Disney product. Mechanically something feels off, compared to the masterpiece that was KH2 especially. Everything feels very linear and as though you're ticking some kind of UI box.

Totalmente decepcionante.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is a conflicting experience.

The gameplay is top notch, the best the franchise has seen yet. With the most satisfying, flashy, and stylish combat to date. Magic is now more useful than its ever been as well. the main character Sora feels almost as if hes overpowered, even on the harder difficulty. Sora is very fast and agile, with the most movement options hes ever had.

Magic is now more useful than its ever been as well. the main character Sora feels almost as if hes overpowered, even on the harder difficulty. Sora is very fast and agile, with the most movement options hes ever had. being able to double-jump, fly, wall run, spin on poles, ricochet off walls at high velocity, lunge at enemies from a great distance to begin long crazy combos. And these are very useful because the worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3 are the largest ones the series has ever seen, offering tons of detail and exploration. Sora will unlock even more new attacks and abilities as the game progresses which makes the game even easier.

In addition to the combat you can also do a number of other optional activities. in the form of collectable Game & Watch style mini games, special different "Flan" challenges in each Disney world for special ingredients you can can use to cook a variety of meals that offer you temporary boosts such to your health, defense, magic, strength, etc. Some of the Flan challenges can be quite fun, while others can be tedious and boring. There are also Lucky Emblems hidden throughout the game that you can take pictures of for rewards like items and equipment.

The graphics are beautiful, recreating some Disney movies almost perfectly.
The sound design is great, alot of detail went into making sure every action has a distinct sound. And the music is as good as its ever been. However there are some oddities, such as the main theme of Pirates of The Caribbean never appearing in its world. The main theme song, Face My Fears, is outstanding and perfectly conveys the weight and emotion of this final chapter of a nearly 2 decade long story.

Now the story. Despite this game being the finale meant to wrap up loose ends, it feels incredibly lackluster, almost rushed. There are many plot holes, retcons, and Ex Machinas throughout. Making it feels like there was never an endgame in mind, like the writer was making it up as he went along. It also suffers from far too much fan service, and almost no sense of urgency until the last couple hours.

The dialogue is absolutely abysmal. Not a single conversation in this roughly 25 hour story feels natural. Its on par with a bad fan-fiction written by a middle schooler. The voice acting feels as though every actor was recorded on solitude. There's no chemistry by any characters who are supposed to be friends. The pacing is very awkward, characters constantly respond to one another only after an uncomfortable pause. Some Disney characters are voiced by there original actors, such as James Woods as Hades, and Wallace Shawn as Rex. Unfortunately most of them are played by impressionists.

The framerate is steady and is never experienced any drops, even in the most hectic moments. There was also no pop-in. The loading times are a little long at times, but not too bad. The cutscenes are very long. At times you might as well put the controller down because you'll be watching for up to 15 minutes. Luckily the game allows you to skip cutscenes if you so wish.

There are 20 mins of cinematics (no problem at all) but when you start playing, after 2 min playing, another cinematic that don't introduce nothing now at the story. This fact makes that the rhythm ofthe adventure decline. So on ,the game starts to be boring after and after all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was the biggest Kingdom Hearts fan. I would debate the game's story endlessly on forums, lined up at midnight to buy the first two games. But Kingdom Hearts 3 was a disappointment. First of all, they completely killed the story by bringing literally every character back to life for no reason except fanservice. Second, the gameplay has been dumbed down and is way too easy even on Proud Mode, with a bunch of flashy moves that are useless. The ending was a joke. Unfortunately, Nomura has lost his touch. I’d honestly give Kingdom Hearts III a 5.5/10. Definitely wait for the Final Mix to come before buying this game as it’s like FF15, half completed and hella easy. And sure, the music is absolutely amazing! However, beyond that it is an honest let-down and disappointment in the story, in character development, and in playability. It just feels rushed and uncompleted (ironic for a game 5 years in the making). For starters, Square Enix cut MANY things from the game. Tetsuya Nomura stated that there would be well over 90+ hours of content, when in actuality; it’s closer to 35 -45 hours of content. You literally spend 2/3's of the entire game traversing Disney worlds and goofing around which none of it matters in the slightest and doesn't really do anything at all to progress the plot or the characters (Note: you can clearly tell which worlds they spent far more time and resources on than others. Some worlds, only get one tiny little area). On that note, the worlds that people actually wanted to fully explore in all their 4K HD glory were basically reduced to just backgrounds for cut scenes and for the plot (Realm of Darkness, Land of Departure, Keyblade Graveyard, The Final World, Scala ad Caelum, and to a lesser extent, Twilight Town). Then, all the major plot points and major stuff happens quickly and almost back-to-back in the last 1/3 of the game. Before you know it, you're fighting the final boss out of the blue and the games over. Heroes and Villains fly in and out of the story so quick that you just might miss them if you blink. The reunions of 1) Aqua, Ven, and Terra; and 2) Axel, Roxas, and Xion; are completely rushed. Basically, they are brought back at the last minute for fan service and to make sense of the plot before moving on. Hell, don't even get me started on the characters. The dialogue exchange and voice acting is good in certain places, but is often just cringy and awkward. Any many of the characters don’t even have much of a personality *ahem*…Kairi *ahem*. Speaking of which, the characters: Kairi, Lea, Riku, Aqua, Ventus, Terra, and King Mickey are now weak and useless. In fact, the Disney characters in the worlds you visit are significantly more powerful than they are. Minigames are another problem. Minigames are supposed to be fun and enjoyable challenges that offer additional rewards when added to a game for optional playability. However, that's not the case when multiple minigames are pushed into the main story and are required to progress said story. Furthermore, Square Enix made the game insanely easy, even on hard mode. Fights required little-to-no planning or preparation. I never even died once on hard mode or had to retry an encounter. Going to attractions, I understand that attractions were supposed to be cool and epic, but not when you get like three prompts for an attraction every single bloody fight. It got annoying and boring rather quick. I only used the meals once, in the final battle. I didn’t even need to use the meals because everything was too easy. Lastly, the game mechanics are still clearly broken. You can still easily button-mash X/A to win the game. Also, a player can obtain 99 Moogle Post Cards within 1 hour for only 5,000 Munny; they can easily obtain level 99 within an hour; and they can easily and quickly get 999,999 Munny.

*sighs* Look, it’s an okay game. It’s fine to like a game and it’s fine to dislike a game. There are many people who liked KH3 and many who didn’t. It has good and bad qualities. However, you do have to recognize and realize all of its flaws and shortcomings. Because many of us who are long-time hardcore KH fans and who grew up with the series will tell you, KHI and KHII were are significantly longer and better than KHIII.

What I enjoyed the most were things that broke the mold: The Caribbean, the new and improved Gummi Ship, and how Monstropolis and Toybox didn't follow their original movies scene-by-scene. The base gameplay was solid as well, and the game looks great.

On the other hand, I also found the worlds for Frozen and Tangled tedious because they followed their respectuve films too faithfully and made Sora seem out of place (or at least made Flynn Rider look like an unwelcome tagalong to Rapunzel and Sora's romantic walk in the woods). I don't know if this was because of corporate meddling, but I would have loved to see a different take on these worlds.

Sometimes I also would have preferred to get back to the gameplay, but couldn't because of the heavy amount of cutscenes that will jump you at every opportunity. I wish the game would have been more concise, even if it meant cutting down the number of cameo characters.

Overall, though, I had a very positive experience. (Note: I have a completely different opinion of the ReMIND dlc. Avoid that at any cost...)

The subtractions far outweigh the additions. Combat feels awesome, but the short list of keyblades is a huge disappointment. Big chests that should be exciting only ever have maps or minigames. And not including Final Fantasy character makes this not Kingdom Hearts in my opinion.

I cant imagine a Kingdom Hearts without Hikaru Utada songs. The battle system works fine and left no regrets. “Small spoilers if even that”: I like the worlds from tangled (Rapunzel and her hair are the best companion), the Toy Story world with the Mech battles, the Pirates of the Caribbean ship combat and mostly the whole Big Hero Six, Monster Inc. and Frozen world and arc. I don't need to mention that I like our heroes and their friends (I wouldn't be a Kingdom Hearts fan if I hated them). Kingdom Hearts is about the power of love, friendship and overcoming the odds. At last the retro mini games are a fine bonus improved by nostalgia. Now lets get to the bad things: There is no Final Fantasy character in this game (except Moogles). This is madness and false labelling. We want to get our FF heroes back in action and the Sephiroth secret super boss fight as in the previous main games. The first world Olympus gave me boredom for the first time in any KH game. Then there is the lack of established content: There are no Colosseum battles. You visit all worlds only once story-wise (In KH1 and KH2 you return later for new story parts) which is a fitting transition to Pirates of the Caribbean. They left out Death Man's Chest and only do At Worlds End and even then you have barley a part in the story. Wasted opportunity (Good Davy Jones or Kraken fights and character moments for Jack, Will and Elisabeth). There was no Marvel or Star Wars themed world which is a big miss (I read that they had the rights to use both franchises. If not I apologize). Then there is the ending. For me while doing things right is an underperformance and partly unsatisfying (Issues are not resolved. Wont spoil but I bet there should be countless rants on the internet). They had also the nerve to not close the story line for DLC reasons. Overall I think that the game was rushed and they didn't know how to end the trilogy. While I enjoyed the game it was also a disappointment. I subtract 1 point for the DLC. Expand

I also played bits of one of the DS games but never completed it. I bought the remastered versions of Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 on ps4 but again struggled to get through them as they didn’t age too well.
So I don’t have an in depth knowledge of the series or the story.
I bought Kingdom Hearts 3 in a sale to play with my youngest daughter (age 6) and we have both thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Visually the game is beautiful, imaginative and looks as if you were really inside a Disney movie. The detail to each level shows Square Enix clearly has a passion for Disney. The wealth of characters and worlds really is amazing. The game takes you to visit characters from Toy Story, Frozen, Tangled, Big hero 6, Pirates of The Caribbean and many more. Each world is crafted with love and has a real sense of magic. The voice acting and animation during the many cut-scenes is top notch. Each world has its own story that incorporates the characters that live there.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is an action RPG, on the surface it looks like a game for kids (it can be on easy settings) but crank the level up and you get yourself a pretty hard-core action RPG. Combat is similar(ish)to Final Fantasy 15, in that all action is in real time. Battles are in real time so in-between bashing X to attack you will need to evade, cast spells, use items and change Key Blades (Your main weapon).
Fight long enough and you get to use special attacks, each Key blade has different abilities which grow in power as you fight. The coolest features of battle are the special attacks and link summons.
Special attacks create famous Disney World attractions that are used as weapons these include; The Pirate Ship, Big Magic Mountain and The Mad Tea Cups. They are amazing fun and brilliant to watch in action.
The link characters allow you to summon strong allies to help you in battle. Each summon will unleash a powerful attack and an insane finisher; they are a graphical marvel to watch. My favourite is the first summon unlocked (Wonder Balloon) which is a cute looking chubby, bouncy creature that you jump around on until it explodes into hundreds of smaller creatures that fill the screen with colour.

Level design is interesting and fun, I don’t particularly like that enemies tend to respawn over and over, but that’s a staple of JRPGs so to be expected. Traveling from world to world via Gummy Ship is always enjoyable; at this point the game becomes a space shooter. The game is packed with fun things to do, the many mini-games along your journey add variety, and you never feel bored. The sound score is big and conveys the sense of magic throughout the game.

But there is one let down for a new comer; the main story line. This may not be an issue to long term fans but to me and my daughter it was very confusing and at times very long. The story goes back 2002 and has spanned over around 15 games (I think). So there’s a lot of characters and talk of things you have no idea about. Characters linger too long on dialogue that makes no sense to a new player and I found myself skipping the scenes that didn’t contain Disney movie characters. I liked Sora, the main character but a lot of the other characters I didn’t care for. But that criticism is entirely because I haven’t played the other games.
Luckily within a Disney character’s world the cut scenes are fine, and easy to follow as they are almost separate mini stories.

So overall I loved the game. My daughter also loved it, she found it easy enough to play (on easy settings and with my help) and we both enjoyed the story within Disney worlds. Graphically the game is stunning, the music sound and voice work are top quality, the gameplay is fun and the action and combat are brilliant.
I’d highly recommend Kingdom Hearts 3.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Kingdom hearts 3 should only be played by fans of the series. Anyone else will be lost even if you listened to that character with an annoying voice tell you a short summary of the story.

The story was really bad in a lot of the game but I liked that it was closing all the loops in it. Almost all of the Disney worlds were badly written and didn't have any flow.

In the Hercules world, the Danny Devito character doesn't talk and just smirks and smile while he was always the talkative one which was so weird to see. Also in the Hercules world, after you save the little girl, she bends over like she's bowing as a thank you. To me the people who made the game did that because of their asian culture. I personally feel that one shouldn't change the way a western movie is, they should just be trying to imitate it the best that they can.

The toy story world is also really bad. It felt like someone wrote the script for the characters without actually watching the movies. And, they were all written really badly. The levels were pretty bad game design wise and they didn't feel real. And a lot of the toys were so asian influenced with mecha dinosaur things and anime-like plushes and dolls.

Tangled was really good, I must say.

Frozen was just "Let's just put the 2 songs that everyone likes and were basically done with this story." The pacing of the story was really bad for this one as even I was lost at what was happening.

Why is pirates of the carribean in the game? And, why is it one of the last Disney worlds? And, collecting crabs to upgrade your ship??? Are you kidding me??? I kept telling myself when playing this world "wtf am I playing, this is a kingdom hearts game? Collecting crabs?" The ship part was pretty cool but it felt like that was the only reason why they had to make this world to play. Also, Sora has bigger problems to worry about but all this guy wants to do is go on an adventure and be a pirate. Inconsistent writing yet again. Unrealistic writing for a character, especially for a main character.

Big hero was done probably the best in my opinion. The only real problem that I had was that a lot of the lip sync felt like it wasn't matching. It felt like they didn't even try and just kept the asian lip sync animation and just put the dub over it. But this is actually what happens a lot in the game.

I want to talk about the good things. I liked the gameplay as it was fun to play. I liked a lot of the models and the design of the worlds. The music was also really good.

I would like to talk about the bad stuff.

The story could have ended with these characters but they clearly want to milk the series. The problem that I have is that they couldn't save Kairi when they were all around her so what makes Sora think that he can save her? All the bad guys ever do is teleport and take people. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Too much teleporting lore dumps. That's literally all they ever do in this series since kh2 I believe. It's bad writing, stop.

The models are inconsistent with some models looking near perfect to their movie counterpart like Mike from monster Inc, where main characters like Donald and goofy having noticeable sharp edges of the model. It's bad. Just look at some of the characters that you meet and you'll see. Like why does Sully look so bad? The hair on him is laughable. Also the witch from the sleeping beauty looks so bad and she did nothing the entire game. Waste of characters and her and Pete are absolutely useless.

Too much of Sora saying how friends can do anything and stuff. Its gotten to the point where I am so tired of hearing him say those cheesy lines. I'm so sick of hearing him just trying to be friends with everyone and being like all we need is friends to save the day when it never actually does.

Models look weird in general for a lot of the characters. Sora looks fine as in next gen but Riku looks weird and a lot of the other characters do as well. The design of the models in dream drop were perfect. How could they not have just done the same thing but make them appear older? Also, I don't like their clothes design. It's stupid.

And that reminds me. Sora questions Donald and goofy on why they look like monsters. Bad writing 101, cause we already went through this before in the past games where it was explained that their magical clothes changes them to fit in the other worlds.

The voice acting was bad in a lot of areas of the game.

All npcs sound quiet. Also there was no option to increase dialogue voices, music, or sfx.

The link system is dumb and the characters look holographic which is dumb too. When I use stitch or Ariel, I expect them to be accurate to their original design. Because these skills are linked to mp, the entire link skill is useless.

I used the 1st gummy ship the entire playthrough.

They should have ended the series.

I'm never going to buy another KH game again. I'm done with the milking of the series.

gameplay unbalanced the worlds are not accurate but the story is the worst thing. The story is as poorly written & stupid as ever. It's such a tangled mess of bloated, unnecessary nonsense now, the writers can't even keep track of their own characters. The usual incoherent gibberish of "darkness, hearts, darkness, friendship" is all there but now it's more repetitive than ever.
The dialogue is still poorly written. World endings are usually the worst.
The 'humour' in this game consists of characters laughing like morons at something thats not remotely funny as the camera pans out.
The story is so phoned in, even the characters start phoning it in.
Characters go from being total powerhouses to complete drooling potatoes in cutscenes.
There's one cutscene in the final battle where Sora actually gets knocked unconscious from another character stumbling & falling over on him. I'm not joking. The ending is complete fan service trash & the main villain completely does a 180 on his character in the end and it's laughable and not not believable.

I think this game had real potential to be something, but it's not. Roaming around in the worlds searching for collectibles and hidden stuff can be fun, but progressing the story is just a pain in the ass. Filler cutscenes interrupt you all the time. The combat is really dull as all you do is spam buttons until you can use a special move, which interrupts the fight and plays a cutscene.

The presentation is top tier, I can't think of many better looking games. The visuals almost match up to a Disney movie. The sound design is also great, with a memorable sound track and quality voice acting. So why did I give it a 6? In-spite of its high quality production values, I found it to be a shallow and convoluted experience with boring combat that was often a chore to play through. I would describe it as an amusement park ride that goes on way too long. At first it is thrilling, there are so many amazing things to see but eventually it all just becomes a meaningless blur. The story is such a convoluted mess that I really didn't connect to any of the characters. The combat didn't seem to require much skill or experience. I mashed my way through most of the scenarios. Its not a terrible game, but it certainly could have been better.

Gameplay - 6/10: The combat looks great and there are some very cool abilities but it seems like more of spectacle than an immersive experience. Most of the battles can be won by button mashing and a lot of the time I felt like I was playing the game on autopilot. Outside of combat there isn't much to do. I didn't enjoy the gummy ship sections at all. Some of the boss battles were really cool but compared to other games in the series, I found they required less strategy.

Story - 3/10: I give the game some credit for attempting to give some explanation to all the madness but it was all so convoluted that I had trouble caring about anything that was happening. For the most part, the events in each of the Disney worlds has very little impact on the overarching story. I never felt like my actions were meaningful because most of the events came across as random. The ending seemed like a tidal wave of information that even the most hardcore fans would have trouble making sense of. While it does offer a bit of closure there are still some major loose ends that seemed to be tacked on for the sake of DLC.

Visual Design - 9/10: This is one of the best looking games this generation. The visuals very accurately capture the look of the Disney worlds while also being distinctly Kingdom Hearts. It is very difficult to blend so many different worlds together and make it all look cohesive but the game does a great job. The FX and animations are also phenomenal. The only problem I had with the visuals were in the gummy ship sections, that part of the game looked significantly worse than the rest.

Sound Design - 8/10: The soundtrack and voice acting are great. There are some really good new songs and also old ones that help capture the feel of the older games and Disney worlds. One weakness I found was that sometimes the soundtrack didn't fit the events that were going on. The battle music got a bit annoying and repetitive.

World Design - 6/10: The worlds were a very mixed bag. They almost all looked great but the game play within them was mostly generic. Each world has a gimic or two that makes it fun at first but after a couple of hours I found I was bored by each one. Each world looks very different but the events within those worlds are not equally as interesting. A lot of the worlds looked really big but you are restricted to exploring small areas and straight forward paths.

Characters - 5/10: There are a ton characters, and while they are all expressive and designed in an appealing style I didn't care about any of them. There are so many characters that all of the conversations are brief and void of substance. I never got to know any of the characters on a deeper level. The Disney characters seemed like one dimensional caricatures without any of the complexity that made them appealing in the movies. The original characters just seem to embody emotional superlatives. Sora has a lot of dialogue but it all seems shallow. Riku is just a dark broody version without anything new to contribute. Kairi once again does next to nothing. Nothing any character says comes across as novel or engaging. The game favors quantity over quality.

I really enjoyed different things in this game like the end of Xehanort, the awakening of Ventus, Terra that battles and defeats his darkness (I mean Terra-Xehanort) thanks to Sora too, Aqua that comebacks to the realm of light after a very beautiful boss fight between Sora and Riku against her and then, one of the thing that I appreciated the most, when Lea(or Axel if you want), Roxas and Xion reunite after a while, it was very emotional. That is the equivelant to watching endgame without having watched a Single mcu movie (or if it comes down only the other avengers movie) and then being upset that you didn't get the full scope of the game. Well no s*** Sherlock. The game basivally did everything it promised to do. Finished up every open story thread nearly perfectly while only leaving a few newer ones open to set up the next saga. It came full circle in the end (not gonna spoil it but people who have played the game know what i mean) and while there sadly was a lack of FF characters i must say: it still worked because the game was so full of Original characters that there was literally no room for more. Not without the Story having to suffer from it. Also they will probably get added via the remind dlc so there is that. The worlds felt disconected from the over all story because this time they dealt more with certain themes that would get relevant in the end and not with pushing the story itself like in the other games. The combat was basivally KH and over all Action rpg heaven. The gummiship was actually fun this time around as well. So over all an awsome game. It would also be rated way higher if there weren't certain critiques giving the game a low rating for having "too much zippers." Stuff like that ruins not only their credebility but also the one of the newssite they are working for. Was the game perfect? Hell no. No game is perfect. Not even games like breath of the wild or Persona 5. It is a very fun and enjoyable game though and should satisfy even Hardcore fans though IF they haven't hyped this game up for themselfes like it should be basically the second coming of Jesus. I think in the 2 hours I spent giving this multiple chances, I played maybe 10 minutes worth of gameplay and the rest are just lengthy cutscenes. I have given it a 5 purely because it may be satisfactory for kids or for people who have played the previous 2 titles, but I can’t forgive what they created here, it’s like watching an extended cutscenes to Disney flicks with not much gameplay, and mind numbing gameplay at that. Music, no comment. As always KH music is awesome.

I'd like to start by saying I'm a long time kh fan, I've played and enjoyed every game except the phone game. This is the worst entry, other than 358/2 days.

    Pros:
    -its pretty
    -good music
    - Terra reveal made a lot of sense and was actually very cool to me
-I get to stop waiting for it to come out

    Cons:
    - terrible irrelevant story except maybe the last few hours. There should be a feature that let's you skip to the very end, as nothing worth noting happens before the keyblade graveyard.
-unrecognizable characters: Sora is as dumb as a bucket of rocks and goofy is the smartest character
    - poorly implemented, unbalanced, and op combat distractions
-Twilight town is one whole room
    - Pooh should have been scrapped, his world has 3 of the same minigame with only slight variations
    - Leveling keyblades had so much potential but fell flat
    - Sora had the power of waking all along... seriously... seriously?
    - worlds are a chore, and not a fun one
    - the dialogue is just plain awful
    - Kairi pretends to be a keyblade wielder and then pulls a Kairi and needs saving again
    - Combat is boring because its too easy and lacks cool combos and finishers and overall gameplay variety like kh2 had
    - way too easy, no I haven't tried playing it blindfolded yet but I've heard its slightly harder that way.
    - absolutely trash post game, some mini games, some battle gates (with a single post game heartless) and some synthesis (why bother?) Kh1 had super bosses that took a lot of prep (making synthesis meaningful), and at least kh2 had a coliseum and Sephiroth fight pre-final mix. Getting the platinum trophy for this game was just plain agonizing.
    - The game game wastes too much time trying to explain past events
    - Watching kairi and axel talk about nothing in a random field from time to time was refreshing (not) aren't they supposed to be training? (not that it will pay off anyway)
    - should have sprinkled organization fights throughout the game, as they were supposedly the antagonists. Instead, they are just all thrown together at once. ( I know it was because the whole keyblade war thing, but we could have fought them and not killed them before the final fights)
    - everyone comes back except for all of the FF characters because Nomura added too many characters before the final chapter of the dark seeker ark to fit them all
    - playing as riku was a big deal pre-release, and a big disappointment post-realease
-Characters begin to fly in left and right with little in-game explanation
    - I could go on, but I'll stop now.

...This game gets a four from me for the music and graphics, virtually everything else is awful. I knew KH3 likely wouldn't live up to expectations, but I didn't expect it to stray so far from what made the other games good. I legitimately enjoyed playing Aqua's 0.2 more than KH3, I'm being as honest as I can be. Hate to say it but i'm out, deuces Kingdom Hearts fandom - I really don't care about KH4 and I'm not going to wait until 2030 to be disappointed again after the train wreck that is KH3.

After the long wait, playing this game made me feel like a child again and that alone makes it worth it.

The gameplay is nice but I'm gonna be honest: 13 years ago I was super excited especially after clearing Kingdom Hearts II, but as time went on that excitement turned to indifference. I was 30 years old when it came out and I didn't feel as interested as I was when I was 16 going 17. It just came too late. Sure there were other titles in the middle but all I wanted was KH3. The story is still a lot of horse donkey and halfway through I stopped giving a s*** and that's a problem in an Rpg when the story is trash, to begin with.

Oh well. It's a classic case of too little too late.

Kingdom hearts iii is so so. I have played every title in the series.
Kingdom hearts Iii story is somewhat boring, predictable. Story is a summary of many snap shots of the original movie/ story point jumps here and there (you probably wont understand if you haven't watch the movie before). Kingdom hearts iii explained and connect the gap between the series before.

Story related game mechanics is interesting and new (robot riding in toy story, ship fight in pirate of the Caribbean) but very limited.
There are a lot of mini games (optional), too many.
There is not even many character from final fantasy series (compared to before, Cloud, Leon and so). I had this strong feeling this is a Disney only game.
No arena and the fight with the must have legendary enemy Sephiroth is no more.
Play till a point that I have to force myself to at least complete the story. Re-play value is low.
Kingdom Hearts iii definitely doesn't worthy of 10/10 however it has many strengths and good improvement, definitely more than 5/10. My score is yellow region 7/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Some unexplained stories left, but I think other than that, this game successfully delivered the finale we (KH fans) have been waiting for for sooo long

Game only with voice in English. Impossible to enjoy the game under these conditions, uninstall the game after 2 hours of play. Very disappointed to have paid the high price without having my native language.

Kingdom Hearts III doesn’t go in the direction some RPG fans will no doubt have been hoping for. It’s unashamedly over the top in just about every way, from its barmy story and stunning presentation to its huge cinematic battles. There’s plenty of depth here too, though you’ll need to find your bearings first.

There is no doubt that Kingdom Hearts III will make long term fans moved or even cry. As for those new to the franchise, I believe they also can be satisfied because of tons of classic Disney elements and solid combat system, even though they could barely understand the main story.

If you like animated movies from Disney and Pixar, and you want to relieve some of the key moments, welcome to Kingdom Hearts 3.
