Let's face it: Henry is an idiot. He can't fight, constantly gets himself in trouble and can't keep his mouth shut. In Medieval times he would probably have died within a day, but here you're stuck with the moron for the whole game. Ain't that great? Uhm...No. Besides the fact he can't fight, running is the way to go. Henry the chicken.. Than after 4-5 hours you get more training inLet's face it: Henry is an idiot. Ain't that great? Uhm...No. Besides the fact he can't fight, running is the way to go. Henry the chicken.. Than after 4-5 hours you get more training in swordfighting. You would think the game would get better as you level up your skills. Unfortunately, every encounter feels the same. You might have better weapons, but it never gets easy, especially shooting arrows. During the game, everywhere you go a reticule is on screen. When you aim your bow, the reticule is gone. Who thought that was a good idea? Anyway, it's pretty obvious this game was made for die hard PC players with big rigs to play. On PS4 framedrops are frequent and loadtimes are pathetically long. I can only recommend this game to expert RPG simulation players, because if you don't master the combat you're basically toast. Expand

so bad and terrible fighting I have not seen anywhere. in a battle with three or God forbid four opponents, only luck will help you. plus wild imbalance and ease of finding the best equipment in the game make it wildly not playable and idiotic. my advice to you do not buy this piece of **** save both nerves and money

Current version is simply unplayable. As an experienced avid player this game gives an outright unfriendly introduction and it gets worse. Not only is it impossible to fight but the game throws you straight into impossible situations during the introduction. Played 3 hours before I removed the game.

This game is horrible. They took an interesting concept and stacked it with horrible game mechanics. If anything good came out of this game it is that they have clearly demonstrated how NOT TO creat game play mechanics. The fighting sucks and the main character is some one you would want to punch in the face.

The game looks beautiful and the characters are very interesting. But Kingdom Come Deliverance's realism takes the fun out of the game. The lockpicking is impossible, the tasks are mind numbing, and the combat is somewhat good but an eyesore and very frustrating. Warhorse needs to work out their problems for this game on console, otherwise it's a dead game

DISCLAIMER: I played this on PS4
    Pros:
—The game is (mostly) historically accurate, at least where it matters. The average gamer who probably doesn't know **** about history would have no problems being immersed in this world. —One-on-one combat is great and is, at the very least, logical if not fully realistic. —There are great RPG elements and it's all (to a large extent)

—There are great RPG elements and it's all (to a large extent) realistic and logical. For example, Walking person whilst you're decked out in full plate armor will make you seem more threatening to them which opens up dialogue options.

—Graphics are great. The lighting and color palette in particular is absolutely amazing and beautiful. In no other RPG game of this kind are you gonna be more tempted to just wander in the woods aimlessly and taking in the sites.

—The story is extremely interesting, cohesive and immersive up to about half-way through. The opening in particular (although very cliché) does it's job to immerse you in the world and have you connect with the protagonist.

    Cons:
    — 2 on 1, 3 on 1 , etc, Combat is extremely clunky, Borderline broken. The game has an extremely hard time registering hits and often times your character will lock-up mid-attack or your strikes will go through your opponent. This only applies to fights against more than one opponents but you will find yourself in A LOT of these situations as you'll get ambushed by groups of people on the road whilst travelling. And there are no human followers you can hire to help you out.

Also, Arrows do very little damage and the archery in general is extremely clunky and hard to pull off, Even if you've mastered the bow. You're never going to use it outside of hunting, unless you're a masochist.

—The bugs and glitches. I can understand them being a small studio and having a relatively small budget but the amount of **gamebreaking** glitches in this game is completely unacceptable. There are no excuses. When you release a product people have to pay for, You are obligated to make it functioning. This game is anything but that. At least other broken pieces of **** like Skyrim and Fallout allowed you to use community patches to fix the game.

—There are a lot of historical inaccuracies. This is not a major issue for the average gamer but for a game that claims to be historically accurate, it absolutely is. A lot of **** like clothing, armor, city grounds and, the biggest offense of all, crossbows. There are 0 crossbows in this game when medieval Czechia was a literal crossbow country. For more information, check out Shadiversity, Metatron or Skallagrim's thoughts on the game on Youtube.

—The story is just bad and extremely poorly executed. It starts off great but it's destroyed by pacing problems. Just as the game starts to pick up, it immediately deflates and goes back to having you running around Bohemia and hearing people bloviate. On top of that, the story goes to complete **** about half-way through with a Lord leaving his castle COMPLETELY unprotected and allowing fully armed vagabond enter scot-free. There is also 0 resolution to the crimes done to the main character Henry, It all just amounts to you finding out that some nobleman is your father.

Retarded **** like this dropkicks you out of the immersion and completely breaks any semblance of story. And the ending is so incredibly cheap and rushed. Nothing was resolved, everything is still yet to be discovered in the inevitable KCD 2 which will probably come in 5-6 years.

—The RPG mechanics are incredibly inconsistent or outright broken at times. The game has a reputation system, If you do good deeds you gain reputation and vice versa. The problem is that the characters you murder, they will respawn (all non-essential characters at least) and they will fully remember what you did. This makes crime physically impossible as you will have respawned guards that you killed ambush you out of absolutely nowhere when you meet them again.

The dialogue system is also completely broken. Even if you have 10-20 higher stat-points than them, they will still beat you in the dialogue for whatever reason.

In conclusion, The game is a decent start for this franchise with inevitably a lot of problems for an inexperienced indie studio. I don't know what they are doing but they should come back and fix all of the issues in this game before setting out to do KCD 2 or something else because with a bit more polish, this game can be an easy 7 or 8/10, at least for me.

I never once in my life leaved a review, ever. How realistic can be talking to a motionless person’s face, while half of his head is stuck in a wall? The story is not compelling at all, the combat is incredibly dumb and not realistic at all, since the auto-lock feature makes it impossible either to run or fight properly, it feels unresponsive, robotic, you can only do 2 attacks, the “combos” are non-existent. The impossibility to custom the HUD is also a major issue of the game, the yellow dot at the center of the screen is so goddamn annoying (and useless, too). The graphics are beyond horrible, not even Oblivion has such unpolished textures, and that’s the tip of the iceberg. Character design is very superficial, 90% of the people in the villages are just stupid NPC’s who you cannot even talk to. You call this realism? This is not even good for fiction. How can this overhyped unfinished game be on the PSN store? The PC version has, at least, a modding community that makes the experience playable.
Honestly, I wouldn’t want to give this game for free to anyone. Do not waste your time on this if you have a console, search for something else.

Pro's: A unique map style, (presumably) accurate historical facts, above functional voice acting, and a collection of gear fits the medieval theme. Con's: the first half of the game (arguably more) is only difficult because it is tedious. Most skills are locked out completely. Even when unlocked, some skills are excruciatingly tedious to level up (i.e., lock picking and archery). Real lifePro's: A unique map style, (presumably) accurate historical facts, above functional voice acting, and a collection of gear fits the medieval theme. Con's: the first half of the game (arguably more) is only difficult because it is tedious. Most skills are locked out completely. Even when unlocked, some skills are excruciatingly tedious to level up (i.e., lock picking and archery). Real life archery was not as difficult as this game made it out to be. Any graphical attraction is overtaken by the numerous errors in loading, crashing, and T-poses. These are common occurrence. The save system could be interesting. However, the game crashes without being able to save regularly, without a lengthy (albeit enjoyable) process. Whoever made this game failed to test it beyond a few seconds because some game components sound beneficial but are taken too far. For instance, people can be aware of stealing according to noise. They will call out, “What was that?” This would not continually loop because NPC's go to investigate, and they will interrupt the activity with dialogue. That would have been fine, except it can happen with your own home’s chest. It’s not hard to find either because it’s at the beginning of the Tame, and such function, prevents you from saving during some missions. Last, traveling outside of a fast travel feels like going through a hallway with shrubbery that acts as fences to force the use winding roads, which gives the option of slow trot or medieval bumper cars (i.e., running into the environment). Quite possibly the worst combat system in years. This one has three strengths from the protagonist at the beginning to only takes damage for an extremely particularly timed counter. That means a quarter of the enemies will give an unstoppable attack by merely attempting to attack first. They are waiting to counter leads to another tedious experience because these combatants attack far less than any others. It has taken a ridiculous amount of time to have the opportunity to attempt a counter finally. Even then, they take a significantly reduced amount of damage, so this ordeal becomes a chore. More difficult enemies taunt you with their superior ability to use combos when you cannot (i.e., only a perfect counter)!

Multiple enemies will try to swarm from all directions. The game offers no means to counter this, so it’s either fight the combat system to change targets (excruciating) or utilize the only player strength of jumping to navigate the terrain. My suggestion to any considering this game would be to only get it on PC and mod it.

Get the Royal Edition at PSN store winter sale, and after 10+ hours into the game, my patience is completely exhausted. I don't know how historically accurate it is, but as a game, it's really terrible.

    * The loading time is pathetically long.

    * The graphic is not a deal-breaker, but far from "gorgeous" for 2018's standard.

    * The interaction control is basically broken when playing with a console controller. It's a nightmare when you want to pick up something small or something put in the middle of a large table. In other console games, this can be easily solved by letting user interact with the table/cabin instead. But KC:D insist that you can only interact with these tiny things on a larger surface using that miserable yellow dot in the center of screen.

    * Gathering herb is also clunky due to the above reason. I don't have even once pick up a sage or dandelion without moving using left stick for 30 seconds and finally get it done by pointing that yellow dot half-a-meter away from the plants.

    * The view angle is weird and give me mild motion sickness while turning around or walking in narrow paths. I've never had motion sickness in first-person view games before. The developer team just forgot that people are sitting meters away from the TV when they're playing on console, and we need different rendering settings of view angle.

    * The control button mapping is unforgiving and there is no way to remap it. Who on earth would think square button means "Jump" would be a good idea ?

    * The AI and action script of NPCs are coded like they're directly ported from some pre-2010 PS3-era games.

    * The combat control is so clunky like I was playing MMO games with extremely high ping.

    * I didn't run into game breaking bug yet but already found a bunch of glitches everywhere in just few hours of game play.

    * The archery is unnecessarily difficult. It doesn't matter how the protagonist can do after leveling up, but you just can't remove all the aiming support in a video game. In real world we can estimate the distance between ourselves and the target because we have two eyes, and we have stereoscopic sense. There is no way to do so in video game, since the only information you can get from 2D rendered pixels is the scale.

    * This may have been mentioned by someone else: where are all the crossbows ? In real world mediaeval era, crossbows superseded bows in all Europe armies since 12th century, except England. It's not about how "cheese" the protagonist can be with a crossbow; it's about historical correctness.

    * The lock-picking mini game is simply punishing players who play this game on console.

    * Many of the disadvantages mentioned above can be mitigated if this game offers a "normal" Save & Load approach. But you just don't have it.

Just avoid playing this game on console. Buy PC version instead if you're interested in this medieval life simulator. At least you can have mods that make some of those tedious issues barely tolerable.

This game runs like a pinto. Cannot even do the first quest because the screen tearing is bad on ps5. These devs should be forced to update the game to handle the terrible FPS dropping so people can at least play the game without feeling nauseous just from the poor performance.

I was hyped as anyone could be about this game before coming out. A realistic (emphasis on the realistic part) medieval RPG that wanted to recreate the high middle ages without dragons or magic. An ambitious project to be sure but one faithfully recreated to my satisfaction. I don't think I've ever seen an attention to detail as seen here. From the muddying of clothing to having to learnI was hyped as anyone could be about this game before coming out. A realistic (emphasis on the realistic part) medieval RPG that wanted to recreate the high middle ages without dragons or magic. An ambitious project to be sure but one faithfully recreated to my satisfaction. I don't think I've ever seen an attention to detail as seen here. From the muddying of clothing to having to learn even the most basic of fighting skills (you're a blacksmith with no training), the game immediately immerses you into this world of nobility and knights and knowing your place in it.

You start off as Henry, a blacksmith's son just trying to get by in life when the evil Hungarian scum under the banner of your king's brother comes and turns everything upside down. The main story really doesn't have any alternate paths, maybe a few shortcuts but mostly it's quite linear. You'll have to level up by accomplishing side quests which are for the most engaging and have different ways to solve them. If you don't do these you'll be in a world of hurt later on. The writing and dialogue in these quests is well written and even have some hilarious moments. The combat is not easy, using a hit directional style of attack and defense. You'll most likely get your butt handed to you on a silver platter early on but once you get more skilled and better armor you'll laugh as your enemies flee in terror. Overall, it's a great presentation of rising from rags to riches with some detective work thrown in (apparently a regional governor trusts an illiterate blacksmith to do what his magister can't).

The RPG mechanics are serviceable but some were kind of pointless skills, and you'll quickly figure out which one's you actually need and work on them exclusively. The perks are the same, with many being totally useless regardless of playstyle. Also, many have a tradeoff for some reason, like run faster but also run out of stamina faster. Why? Can't your character just get in better shape and run faster AND farther? Anyway, it's adequate but it feels more could've been done.

The bugs in this game are numerous and this is where the game stumbles from being truly great. Some are only cosmetic issues, others are game breaking. I had everything from hilarious graphical anomalies, to quests failing for no reason or quest notifications firing off even after quest completion. I also had saves get corrupted inducing controller throwing rage after I realized I had lost hours of progress. This is definitely a case where the devs either rushed the game out knowing these bugs were present or just didn't have time to fix them before release. To their credit they have been working to rectify many of these in addition to adding features.

The graphics are a mixed bag; the draw distance is horrendous with pop in textures even at close range. Perhaps the PC version is better but the PS4 version is borderline immersion breaking where people's faces appear on their headless bodies right in front of you. Attention definitely went into character models and facial animations look above average, as well as good weather effects that look amazing when mud forms on the ground with individual puddles. When it's there it looks good and realistic, but by god if that texture pop up doesn't ruin everything.

Overall, it's a good game that suffers from not having enough time to iron out its issues before release. In its initial state I would have given it a 6.5 but because the devs were willing to pour heart and soul into an almost uncharted game type (seriously, how many hyper realistic historical medieval IPs are there?), the love here shows and my personal affection for this time period will let me be generous and award it an 8. If you are a fan of history, realistic RPGs, or adventure games then this is a definite buy. If you're expecting this to be like dragon age or skyrim then you might want to pass. With the improvements and patches this game will soon be truly deserving of accolades. I can't wait to see what else this development team has in store for us.

    End score: 8/10

I am a big fan of RPGs especially the Elder Scrolls series so I was very excited for this game especially when its based on a true historical setting.

Let me start with the attention to detail. It is fantastic! You really feel like you're in Medieval Bavaria. Villages have more life than Skyrim and Oblivion. The attention to detail is on point. I love how what you wear and the state of your appearance factors in conversations. You need to remove dirtied or in my case bloodied and smashed combat armor in order to sway conversations in your favour. It can work in your favour out in the battlefield to intimidate enemies etc.

Combat is fun, and you really need to spend time honing skills and getting better gear to actually progress in the story (I'm talking to you Runt!). The fighting especially combat stances is reminiscent to For Honor, which also has similar parrying and dodging movements. You need to target specific areas, with vital weak points eg. aim for the head if they aren't wearing a helmet (again I'm talking to you Runt!).

Battles is where it gets way ward especially on the PS4. The frame rate drops significantly when they are heaps of soldiers in front of you to the point where it gets blurry slow.

They are a lot of graphical bugs, draw distance issues. I see villagers sprouting out of the ground like plants. Textures take time to load, especially when you change gear on your character.

Saving the game can be a nuisance, as auto saves only occur when quests start or when you wake up from sleep. You can buy "Save Schnapps" from merchants to enable you to save whenever you like. I heard they will release a "Save and Exit" option in the next update which will be a god send.

Couple of things that doesn't go well on consoles are lock picking and pick pocketing. It is insanely hard on the controller! Again they will release a patch to fix this.

Level progression is very similar to Skyrim, where you level up depending what you are doing and you can also pay NPCs to train you on your chosen skill.

Overall, it had a rough release but to me the Pros far outweigh the Cons. This game is a very brave attempt to break away from the usual RPGs and tests your limits with as little hand holding as possible.

Game gets a 6 for originality and story without magic, elves and dragons.

I rate this game with an 8 because of some lower rates but honestly I think it would deserve a 7 or 7'5. Yes, this game it's far from being perfect and it has many flaws (even with the patch it crushed 3 times). But let's talk about the game: At the beginning you are going to hate and love this game but especially at the beginning you are going to hate some moments. Don't hesitate to look for information on internet when you need to. Also, they don't tell you but you have to maintain the circle button pushed to run. You can be really addicted to this game and spend many hours. I recommend to play this game if you have a lot of free time because you can't always save the game when you want. There are also many and interesting sidequests but if you don't have much time go straight for the main missions (you'll have more than enough). There are like 2 big battles; when they ask you how many enemies have you seen always say the "many" option so you have as much help as possible. Trust me, you'll thank me. I could be talking and advising for hours. For instance, I got addicted to steal everywhere and everyone and unlocking everything. If you are in a village where your reputation is very low and you can't advance because the guy of the mission leaves when he sees you just leave everything to your own personal chest (especially if you own robbed stuff. The things that carries the horse as well), go to a guard, punch him unarmed and surrender, go to prison and when you are released your reputation will be higher. You may want to save the game before doing that just in case. And I know horses are expensive but look for the fastest horse and buy when you have the money.

    Best things:
-Plot, voices, dialogues, medieval atmosphere, historical, the weather, clothes, armours, etc.

    Worst things:
You can't save whenever you want, riding the horse it's tricky because of the bushes and small walls, also, when you run fast you see the characters like half appearing until eventually they all got to be like they should to be. It's really a pity because although graphics were not great they were good enough; but this things... Really a pity. Also you feel wasting your time when the game is loading or you have to wait and let the time pass or moving in the map, etc. Fighting is also tricky. I recommend you to try to fight your enemies one by one, so when you have the enemies' attention run from them (after a while only one will be pursuing you) and start shooting arrows to them (although you'll have to train because you can't aim easily. Also always choose a bow with a bit les of half of your current strength).

I know I write many bad things but I still think that if you have time give it a try. It took me 105 hours having done all the sidequests (but not all the activities). I just wish that this game had fixed all this issues before being released because it would have been and awesome game. I think in some ways is too realistic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was really happy that people from my home country are making a big game that can be successful... I was really excited about it... I was looking forward to complete this game with all side quests and maybe try a platinum trophy... At the first sight, I was amazed by this game and I thought it's amazing, but after some portion of time, it started to be boring, it has no fun or enjoyable side quests, it takes the whole life to manage only one quest because the loading times are too long and fast travel take forever. The last drop for me was the quest in monastery, when if you have only 10 seconds delay and you aren't on the spot that is written on your daily routine, you have broblem, one fuc*ing monk appears and say to you: "Brother?!" ... and he gives you one warning, after three of them, you must go to jail and wait there for three days... And it happens every time... I was so angry at this stupid system that I deleted the game... And Im never ever going to play it again. Sorry Warhorse, there are soo many bugs and this game is not complex, if you find a good gear, combat system starts to be piece of s*it and you can win all fights easily with just one move, ... and you can't pass through small bushes, they are like small invisible walls, god damn guys, we are in the year 2018!... so if you want 60 € for this, you must do better job... 6/10.

Overall I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys action RPGs and can appreciate the supreme level of detail that went into the world building. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a fantastic debut game from Warhorse Studios. It's a richly detailed and action packed world of high adventure and grim villainy. But for a few technical issues this is a superb experience.

I struggled with it's combat and lockpicking at first but, after a few hours of practice, I found a truly rewarding experience. Before long I was a swordsman worthy of knighthood, a pickpocket who could pilfer my targets grandmother when I stole from him and a locksmith who could just look at a lock to make it open.

I was somewhat dubious if this game when I started playing but, boy, am I glad I persevered with it. It is one of the best RPG's of this generation and I am hoping that the next game in this franchise is in the works. I have marked it down due to some pretty bad texture and polygon pop-in and a couple of minor bugs without which it would have easily made 9.5/10 for me.

If you enjoy RPG's then please, please play this game. It is an utter pleasure to play and will last you for hundreds of hours. I kept playing until I achieved the platinum trophy which is no small undertaking.

The combat felt clunky and gimmicky, but oddly fun one on one. The tethering lock on system with mini mobs is not so fun. I just think to Mount & Blade similar stiff combat, but way better freedom of organic movement. Larger melee fights in KCD ended up as backwards walking simulator with break neck camera switching.

The general performance was poor with really immersion breaking pop-ins and a low frame rate with a FOV of 60 ffs. I don't think this generation of consoles are powerful enough to handle this game. I might come back to this if they made a PS5 remaster with better performance and better frame rate. I am glad they made this and it really need to made. Lots of overambitious overlapping systems helps makes this a rich and also janky gaming experience.

PANDEMIC UPDATE: Even for the low technical score I really wanted to like this game. To the point I decided to pick up all the DLC on a PSN sale.

This game is HUGE.

On the flipside, I've gotten stuck in bushes (both on foot and on a horse), shot 40 arrows at a single bunny rabbit to finally hunt it after 41, lost hours worth of game play due to the broken save system (PROTIP: break into someone's house and save/sleep in their bed), and have used more curse words in one night then I thought was possible after trying to learn how to pick locks.

This game has some really high ups but some really low downs (and I'm not talking about trisomy 21). It's painful to see a game with such huge potential get caught up on some really small details that can lead to players quitting altogether. That being said, I understand both the uber-positive and overwhelmingly negative reviews. It should be said that anyone who gives it a 9 or 10 has not experienced a game-breaking glitch. It should also be said that anyone who gives it a 1,2,3, or 4 has not experienced the quest where you take hallucinogens with 3 women and end up having sex with one them while you think they are either a horse, rooster, or pig).

To start the game is a buggy mess to the point bethesda games look borderline perfect, bugs, crashes, systems clearly not working with each other in general, you will spend more time staring at loading screens then anything else.

Systems are poorly designed and outright unbelievable at times. Lets start with lockpicking, which is designed to be omnidextrious on consoles which 90% of people are not, but it becomes managable with perks yet the opening area has only 1 easiest lockpick and 4 lockpicks max, it is easibly the most frustrating experience of my life. That is till the combat which is designed for duels yet forces group combat, the second there is more then one opponent the games falls apart and even when you do win enemies will magically revive or will gain massive damage boosts where 1 combo will nearly kill me in full plate. Combos dont register, blocks and dodges teleport you all over, and anytime you are not on flat ground the game goes crazy and randomly registers or not, whatever really as it completely crashes. The crime system is a joke, guards have a sixth sense and will cross the town to find you, npcs see through walls, pickpocketing is tied to rng causing instafails, and most damning of all you will get bounties and rep changes that dont actually appear until you load the game so you will frequently spend hrs doing something only to load the game and find yourself hated with a long jail sentance and too top it off there is no feedback on what you got bounties for so prepare to randomly get bounties while just talking to someone or sleeping.

What has put me on to writing this is that at this time ps4 has been waiting for a patch for almost a month since pc and they are now selling dlc for this broken game, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BS!!!£

Time to don the old suit of armour and wield your sword in medieval Bohemia.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a sword slashing romp from start to finish. After watching your mother and father be slain by an invading army you set out on your adventures to avenge your parents death,

There is a large open world for you to explore either on foot or by getting yourself a horse to make the experience quicker. On your adventures you will meet lots and lots of characters all living in walled towns protected by castles and guards. And also people who live in surrounding areas like farms and villages.

There are lots and lots of missions which help you earn gold so that you can buy various weapons and armour. This for me is the best part of the game with a good depth of weapon and armour types to either help you keep stealth or protect you from multiple opponents.

You can also indulge in alchemy, thieving and hunting to name but a few things. Every time you do something within the world it helps you get better at it. Levelling up gives you some interesting perks which will greatly improve your fighting and how you move and progress in the world.

Now, KCD doesn't come without some annoyances. First of all the combat against several opponents at the same time can almost always see you getting sliced in two. On earlier levels you may find yourself having to run away a lot. But, most of the time you will still get killed.

The graphic pop-in is really appalling in this game. You can wait up to 5 seconds or more before buildings and the people fully materialise. You will see many instances of floating heads without a body or bald characters for a few seconds while everything renders.

Also, if you murder someone or get caught stealing and are caught by guards you will more than likely have to opt for jail time. Once in jail you will be confronted by the rather slow day and night cycle wheel. This slowly ticks through the hours of the day and if you have a particularly long sentence you will sometimes have to wait 10 minutes or more to play again.

If you are willing to over look these little discrepancies and have lots of time on your hands. Then you will find this game very relaxing and enjoyable to play. Taking out your bow and going hunting for deer, boar and hares in the local forest is a particularly enjoyable chore.

You will get cut down by knights and bandits and it will fuel your desire to get better every time you pop this game in, taking Henry from a dumb ass blacksmith's son, to a sword-wielding killing machine. The beauty of this game is the normalcy of the missions. Don't expect to have Shadow of Mordor level battles every mission, the slow-pacing, dialogue-heavy, story-rich world in which KCD resides in is what truly makes this a unique game. You won't care that you're not having sword fights every moment of the game because it is an experience just to live in the world of KCD. Some of my favorite parts of the game are the most mundane aspects of it. I even love reading the codex to brush up on my history lessons just to enrich my experience. Knowing the state of toilets in the 15th century, or how most hydration came from alcoholic beverages, or how windows were kept small to trap in heat, just furthers my enjoyment of this game and speaks to how unique of an experience KCD is.

    Good moments:
    - As part of a force of 20 - 30; storming a castle, a bandit camp, and castle. The developers unfortunately didn't do more of this, but there is scope.
    - Storyline is good, there's enough lore so that the game feels genuine.
    - There is enough 'meat' on the game.
    - The forests, and locations feel genuine, whilst going on wanders (many) there are places near me that are similar. Attention to detail on the flora and ambience.
    - Combat is interesting, satisfying when you slay an opponent.

    Bad:
    - Combat is frustrating, like driving a car, what you really want is something that is responsive. It feels muddy, maybe this is because I'm playing with a controller and the FPS isn't the best.
    - The game is very slow to play. Fast travel is not fast travel. Generally, it takes too long to do things.
    - It's not much fun, because it feels like a list of chores to do before you get to a fun aspect of the game.
    - Feels too much of a 'life' simulator. I get what the developers wanted to do, bear in mind though, we all have lives to live.

    Summary:
Not a bad game, but too many slow parts. It's too static, and not dynamic enough; for me anyway.
    - Brewing 60 potions is not fun, brewing 3 - 4 is OK.
    - Escorting someone to the edge of the map, then needing to go somewhere to do something, is not fun. And then having the same thing happen, is not fun.

Kingdom Come Deliverance may very well be my favorite video game of the PS4 generation but even then it's a difficult game to recommend due to it being very experimental and very VERY flawed

Right off the bat the first positive is that for better or for worse the game plays at least from a combat perspective like few others do . Are you tired of the typical , Safe and same old Ubisoft/Sony/FromSoft slop that is meant to appeal to the lowest common denominator? Then Kingdom Come is for you

In addition despite the story sequel baiting hard and the ending being underwhelming the writing is very good and you can tell that Warhorse actually reseached how people talked and lived at that time and took no shortcuts to appeal to modern day sensibilities (They also wear the fact that it's historically accurate on their sleeve with pride as they should)

Lastly as far as positives go the quest design from a writing and "player agency" standpoint is without question one of the best we've gotten in the last 10 years . The attention to detail (How much dialogue can change) and the freedom of choice presented to you felt like a breath of fresh air

Now onto to the negatives . First of all the game is pure Eurojank and thus you'll get many glitches and bugs with some being harmless and funny and others ruining your quests (On release this was infuriating)

The quest design from a gameplay is perspective also leaves a lot to be desired not because it does anything bad but it's your typical open world back and forth fetch quest affairs . This wouldn't have so bad if the games pacing wasn't so deliberately slow and the save system that is specifically created to prevent excessive save scamming wasn't so bad

I get the notion behind having to live with your choices but there are some major flaws . Ambushes early on are a pain in the ass as you have 5 bandits all surrounding you and beating the crap out of you with axes . Even worse you have no indication on whether or not you're going to have the ability to tackle certain side quests with your stats and guess what if your speech stats are low (Sometimes even higher stats will land you a fail) you can wave that best ending bye bye

The combat in Kingdom Come tries to be as realistic as possible . The whole affair is supposed to be about parries and unpredictability and different weapons are theoretically needed depending on the situation (Maces are OP though and the only weapons you'll ever need) . The biggest problem with the combat is that it devolves into waiting until the opponent strikes and hitting the riposte button because if you attack even some random farmer can riposte your ass which is INSANELY dumb

In the beginning I said that the game is very experimental and thus some mechanics are half baked (Food , Potions/Alchemy , Hunting , Selling loot , Money being largely pointless) don't work as well as they should (Stealth , Pickpocketing) or they are made unfun in the name of immersion/realism (Archery) . In addition you have to cheese grind some skills because by the time they become half useful you'll be done with the game (Chocking people in their sleep outside of cities to improve stealth)

Overall the game can be a lot of fun if you like it's strong points but it's not for everyone . The early hours alone where Henry sucks at literally everything and the tutorial lasting for what feels like 4-5 hours will be enough to get some people to drop the game and with good reason

I hope that the sequel is more focused and they produce the masterpiece I know that they can

Quests are interesting, funny and it's possible to solve these in more ways. Nature is beautiful and symphonic and medieval soundtrack is great. Towns are created according real historic plans from historic Czech republic also main historic background is according history.

Yea, its harder, but not so much. Average player can do it (frustrated are noobs :)). Bow is very hard to handle, but its possible to learn it - but i recommend it for hunting. Story is good and conversations are great. I havent found saving system bad, its good that you cant load and load again to cheat.

Negatives: I have bought game after a year since release so I have experienced only 2 minor bugs, which had no influence on game. In middle game, i was very rich and there weren't better goods to buy. Monastery was frustrating but in was on purpose to meet alcoholic priests in basement.

So i would give 8-9/10 but many people rated this game bad because bugs werent fixed at that time, so i rate it 10/10.

This is an incredible RPG, that immerses you in the real-life history of medieval Europe. It's a game that doesn't shy away from the reality of the time period and location, and is by far the better for it. The graphics can range from a bit janky to utterly gorgeous. Walking through forests at dusk is particularly beautiful, and the epic orchestrated score just adds to the atmosphere. This is a cerebral game that is all about immersion, taking you from a common blacksmith's son on a journey of discovery and adventure. You will start the game with limited abilities and will need to devote your time to learning and improving your fighting skills, your understanding of plants and and medicine, learning to haggle and even to read. You'll meet interesting characters and take part in some challenging quests. Voice acting is mostly excellent throughout. There isn't much hand holding, so be prepared to read the codex and tutorials. If you're someone who enjoys historical authenticity and tales of derring-do, if you're patient and willing to take your time as well as overlook some minor bugs and performance issues, then this is the game for you. It's a 10/10. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first, the rather rough gameplay and clear first-game of the studio are quite apparent. The core of it all works well enough, and with polish and tweaking, I believe it could be incredible. The combat, reminiscent of For Honor, is already a little better than Ubisoft's game as it relies much more on skill and cannot be cheesed or broken as much.

The story is clearly a setup for following sequels. The ending is unsatisfying compared to the strong revenge tones the prologue sets, with Henry unable to kill or take down anyone who caused the initial damage. The only form of revenge he gets is the random bandit dude who beat him up after the main villains did the real damage.

Summary: Worth playing if you can get it cheap, and at its core is fantastic. It needs a lot of work and polish to realise that potential, which I'm unsure if Warhorse can achieve or not.

I'm ashamed of myself for having spent 120 hours playing this, because it represents a large amount of time wasted on tedious gameplay that is of a low quality.

KC:D is a very ambitious, buggy, poor-executed slog. It's like the Gothic series in a realistic medieval setting without the fun, and with many complicated obtuse game systems tacked on in a messy casserole. There are an enormous number of quests in KC:D, many of which are buggy exercises in frustration with unclear instructions. The writing is dull and workmanlike. To accomplish anything seems to involves a tedious minigame. It is quirky, frustrating, and oddly addicting at times.

Kingdom Comes harkens back to old-school RPGs that don't hold your hand. The scope of the game is quite large, but it is lacking some essential quality, and fails to balance the tight-rope between fun and tedium, more often than not falling into the latter.

A example of this is a quest named "In God's Hands," which is one of the most terribly designed quests I've ever experienced. You have to save a variety of patients in a hospital ward. It's a timed quest as people start dying if you take too long. It involves running back and forth to many cities with unclear instructions. In the middle of this quest is embedded another quest named "Man of the Cloth" that requires running back and forth to distant cities in fetch it quest style, and is so bugged that it cannot be completed unless you look up threads online. It almost can't be done if you don't use a guide.

Another example is how broken the "realistic" combat is. You can choose to stab or swing from 5 different attack angles, block, dodge, parry, yet it's basically impossible to unlock from a target to run away because you automatically relock after a second. The game could have greatly benefitted from someone in the room saying, "Wait, this part is lame, broken, and unfun. We should fix it or take it out"

By the time of the epilogue, I was skipping cutscenes because I wanted it to end and didn't care anymore about the trite politics behind the story, and didn't think I could stand more buggy gameplay. That's when I encountered a showstopper bug in the way of not being able to talk to Hans Capon to end the game. I had to finish his DLC first. That was a truly disheartening moment.

    Resoconto finale

So I've been hyped for this game since the first trailers came out and was very sad that I didn't had the proper PC to run it. When it came out, the reviews were mediocre and so I forgot about it sadly. Now, roughly 3 years later i purchased it for my new console (remember, the overhauled ROYAL EDITION) and instantly fell in love with it. First, this game still has it's flaws. Combat and generally the controls feel clunky but manageable in the end. Also technically you will see loading textures and stuff. But nothing crucial. At first look it will overwhelm you. It will chew you up and spit you out. But it is intentional. Your progress will be very slow, but incredibly rewarding. This is the total opposite of "casual" RPGs like Skyrim. It will take time to fully embrace all the mechanics , but once it "clicks" you won't let your hands of it. The game's world is so beautifully crafted, even on console. Can't imagine how it would look on PC. I've never seen forests, hills and landscapes like this (ok, Red Dead Redemption 2 maybe, but remember this game was developed by a small indie team). To me, the world Design is it's biggest selling point. It may not be polished like a Triple A game but it is simply beautiful. Sound, music and dialogues are good, too. Quest design is awesome, so many ways to get your tasks done. It is really immersive, you really feel like this small peasant who slowly but steadily becomes better in his skillset. Overall you can feel the developers love for their game and the historical setting in so many ways. But it is definitely not for everyone and I understand why many people will play like 2 or 3 hours and quit.

Its story is based on real historical data, as is the map. These are real locations that you can find south-east of Prague, check it out. I enjoyed the story a lot, the gameplay mechanics were a little jank but learning them and becoming good at the game even in the hardcore mode with all of the negative perks felt rewarding. It's the only game to have me interested enough to actually visit the locations it's based on so it deserves kudos just for that. Hope to see more from this lovely studio sometime.

Kingdom Come Deliverance is a game that immerses you almost perfectly in medieval times, placing you in control of Henry, a blacksmith's son from a small village called Skalice. Among its positive aspects, the well-polished immersion stands out: walking through the rustic streets of Rataje or Sázava while hearing your armor clank with every step makes you feel like a real knight. The combat is also noteworthy: despite some shortcomings, it's well executed, and each fight feels like a scene from a movie. The fights are tense from start to finish, and you feel a constant progression between confrontations. Additionally, the game's skill system is excellent and unconventional. To level up, you must use a specific skill or weapon, allowing you to learn and improve your level at the same pace as Henry. For instance, to level up your sword skill, you must spend several hours using the sword to attack Cumans or training on a battlefield.

Moving on to the negative aspects, technical issues become apparent. There are numerous bugs, ranging from errors in loading textures to failures in missions, dialogues, or even combat. Although they are not serious bugs, they can take you out of the game's immersion. The game's pace is correct, but it might not be to everyone's liking, and some missions can feel stuck and endless, making you tired of playing for hours on the same task. Additionally, some missions can be overwhelming and confusing due to the number of objectives they present.

In conclusion, Kingdom Come Deliverance is not a perfect game, nor is it for everyone. Still, being objective, it's an enjoyable game, even for those who aren't medieval fans. Is it worth it? It depends on whether you have the free time to invest more than 60 hours in a game and can handle feeling stuck at times.

It’s an admirably ambitious and atmospheric game that sometimes sparkles like a diamond, but the PS4 version I played was so ridiculously underdeveloped I couldn’t believe someone had the nerve to publish it in such a disgraceful state. [04/2018, p.45]

Despite the volley of issues that'll be unique to your experience, committing to the universe that Warhorse has built in Kingdom Come: Deliverance still carries an ultimately rewarding feeling. I wonder how much more I'd enjoy it if it were a little smoother (fast travel is not fast), but the atmosphere doesn't shy away from the brutality of the era, how rugged life was centuries ago as well as the omnipresence of God in their everyday lives, from conversation to action.

A much more realistic take on the Elder Scrolls formula which will delight some fans of that series while frustrating others.
