Yes it's kinda buggy, but all respect to Varva and his team for making one of the best settings in RPG history
No magic and stuff, only hardcore medieval times
I will give it 10/10, just because of people who will cry about bugs (I know there is lags but they will fix it, it's small team and independent studio) and SJW who will give it 0/10 because of "no POC in game"
    Strong 8/10

(Got my copy early) Having a fantastic time. Love the combat and love all the little things you need to think of. One of my favourite rpgs for sure.
However, it is still very unpolished and downright broken sometimes. Framerate drops, crashes and bugs.
A wonderful game for sure, but I'm going to put it down for a month or so until it runs perfectly. Not because it's unplayable, but

As a fan of both, I'm absolutely in love with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I love the simple and accessible storyline, adore the unique combat system (including the challenging archery mode), and am routinely blown away by the lush forests, meadows, and towns you find along your journey. The characters you'll encounter are funny and interesting, the systems used for weapons and armor are deep and engrossing, and you're constantly learning new things about this huge, unique world. I've put something like 30 hours into the game and still haven't visited a few towns. There's a LOT of game here for your money.

That said, there are definitely some issues here, but none of them are that huge in my opinion. First, this game is buggy... really buggy. You'll get stuck in trees, on fences, in rocks. Characters will disappear. Some quests won't function properly. And all of that sucks. But is it reason to avoid this game? No, not at all. Skyrim had its issues and it was also a must-play. This is a small team making a big game -- what that means is that you get a game that has some technical issues but constantly keeps on giving you something new to explore. In essence, this is a passion project, essentially the opposite of what's coming out of EA, Rockstar, and the big guys these days.

Basically, I love this game and hope to see a lot more of it in the form of expansions and sequels in the future.

This game has a unique way of creating immersion- which it does by encouraging you to make decisions that would make sense in real life and not just because it is a video game. This is a tremendous achievement that I really appreciates, and it made the technical issues negligible for me. (Though I may have had a different opinion had I lost more hours due to corrupt saved games. on ps4!)

The fighting mechanism is new and refreshing. Bow is really hard to use and misses more than it hits, but it makes hitting (and hunting) much more fun. Sword fight has relatively new mechanism that makes the fight interesting for a long part of the game. I don't agree that skill is too important here, I think this game is just good at making you think you are more skilled when you are actually just better because your stamina stats is slowly increasing.

Luckily, July 2018 at time of writing there has been over 600patches to quests and graphical issues. This level of fixes has hugely impacted the game vs the original released version.
Basically, if you were holding off for fixes, as I did, the time is now. It's still a hard game, one that takes practice to improve in all areas. It's gritty, challenging and often frustrating when things go wrong, but it's very human for it. Henry, is far from perfect. Our errors add to the story that he's just some boy out for revenge rather than son of a god, or in any way a chosen one. From the start the speech is amazing, and often very funny. This is a real survival rpg with nothing left out... Highly recommend if that's your genre.
Bug wise, few things like overhanging trees get walked through without moving and music has cut out during combat a few times, maybe a few frame rate drops during larger battles. But I'm playing on ps4 not the Pro, so I expected it for a game of this scale. Go buy now on discount, you won't be disappointed

This authenticity, brought forth by innovative combat systems and well-constructed RPG mechanics, is what totally saves the game for me in spite of its many flaws. While Skyrim focused on exploration, and the Witcher focused on story, this game successfully focuses on role-playing and carves out its niche in the RPG world. The bugs: events failing to queue, character bugs, and the occasional sound bug mar the experience but not completely. The story, dialogues, and basic interactions need to be streamlined though. Cutscenes are yawn-inducing and by the end, I didn't care for Henry's story as much as I did for his armor-build. The game thrives on pushing the envelope and as this is Warhorse's very first game, I am more than willing to look past the flaws. More than anything else, this game makes me very excited for Warhorse's future projects. Warhorse, make more games. I will throw money at them. Expand

I've given the game 30 or so hours over the past 2 or 3 years and because of the vastness of it I'm struggling to give it any more.
I'm dozens of hours away from the end and as a "completionist", like other open world RPGs I fear its just going to fall by the way.
Sure it has its issues, its bug riddled, still and whilst realistic the combat would have been better served to be more. . . fun or. . . user-friendly.
They've created a niche game within a niche type of game. Maybe its too realistic, maybe its too mundane, getting involved in trivialities and sorting out NPCs problems. That's the problem, the side quests are too good, the demand your time and attention, like The Witcher, you want to see everything, you want to do everything, but who has the time any more?

Despite its shortcomings in performance on consoles, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an impeccable game with an intriguing storyline, an unmatched combat system, interesting characters that are often based on real life figures in history, and a beautiful environment that depicts early 15th century Bohemia.

Although the combat in the beginning of the game is hard and confusing, I must say that when you progress in the game you find yourself fighting like a true knight and not anymore like a civilian, meaning that you must be smart and well prepared for a fight, because even a small fight can kill you and when you win hard fights you feel great, like a reward for your effort (like a souls game), which is part of the natural progress of the game. The game design is great and feels like middle age, the main campaign of the game is inspired in true events that happen long ago in the old Holy Roman Empire. The characters are great, mostly because they are fun, unique and all main characters have a role in the game choices. The exploration of the game is great and have a lot of encounters the map feels great because it gives you freedom to explore almost all the map, after the beginning chapter. In last but not least, the game use the characters and the fantastic missions (main and secondary), to criticize the problems of the reality that people from the end of the XIV century, like the corruption and tiranny of the catholic church.

With that said I also deeply love the Era this game is set in. The Late Medieval period is a great passion of mine so it is hard to be objective with my opinion. Just an FYI

    Pros
-Historical setting is great and this game is really accurate. From the culture, to the way war is conducted, to the architecture everything is spot on. I cannot find much inaccruate about this game.
-The historical accuracy and the the overall "feel" of the game makes it immersive
-The combat is disfficult but fun. Its intense difficulty only helps immerse you in the world. You are not a dragon-born master killer. You are a person with a sword and the combat is tense and difficult.
    -The setting is great
-The story is fantastic. It keeps you engaged
-The game does not hold your hand, you have to think
-There are many ways to approach everything. Lots of room for creativity
-The world really feels alive and it actually is. Missions and world events move along with or without you

    Cons
-Frame rate dips low in battles
    -Bugs everywhere
    -Texture pop in constantly
-Lip syncing is terrible at times
-Have experienced 1 hard crash in 35+ hours

A great moment: I am investiagting a raid with the local lord's captain. I am told to investiage to but to stray too far. My investiagtion leads me miles away to a differant town. As I was making my way there just following quest markers I think "should I go tell the captain?" but then think "no- the game is telling me to do this so I'm on the right trail". Well once I complete the investigation and make my way back to the captain he is mad at me. He yells at me for not reporting my position or calling for back up. If I would have informed him I would have been sent to do the mission with troops and everything would have changed. That attention to detail is certainly something to respect.

The game came out and i finally played it for a few hours. Simply amazing so far. The story and characters are much better than i expected and the world is simply beautiful. I could go further and say that's the most impressive open world i have ever experienced. There are simply no invisible walls, you can enter every house, building, door you see, and there are no loadings between in and out doors, city walls, etc. Navigation is 100% seamless, which is perfect for fans of exploration like me.

I also love the realism. You have to eat, sleep, take care of your injuries, you don't have points of interest every 5 meters, markers or hud elements pointing everything around you. You just have to explore, learn, use your head, etc. No hand holding.

Of course the game has its problems. Visual glitches, lack of optimization (at least on consoles), the lockpicking minigame can be a bit frustrating with a controller, you can't interact with some elements of the world, etc. But then again, this is an ambitious game made by a small team. Everyone expecting a flawless game should have their feet on the ground. Devs did a fantastic work, and of course will be support it for many, many years.

    Overall, it's a fantastic game. 9.5/10

This is my first time writing a review for a game but after reading some of the negative reviews I felt I would as I think some of the comments are unfair.

I have by no means completed or finished the game, I have about 20 hours play time but I have enjoyed all of those hours.

First of all the graphics, sure there are a few textures that take a few seconds to load in but to say the graphics don't compare to Skyrim is ridiculous. Stand in any of the forest sections within the game and instantly you will see the graphics here are better. Couple that with the sounds e.g. birds singing you actually could be stood there yourself.

Bugs, I can honestly say that during my play time I have not experienced any bugs or had any crashes. This may be luck on my part when compared to other people I wouldn't know for certain.

Combat system, locking picking, sure these are frustrating at first. That's the key point "at first" give it time and practice and it actually starts to make sense. At the start I couldn't pick any locks, now I can easily pick "easy" locks. Granted that doesn't sound like a big achievement but given I was struggling at the start it now feels like a success. The same goes for combat, sure it takes some getting used and people are probably used to a hack n slash system but once you get the hang of it i don't think there is a problem. That said taking on more than one person at once is certainly a challenge and i haven't survived many encounters when this happens.

The game mechanic seems to be the more you do something the better you get, both in real life at the game but Henry does in game also. Yes its frustrating but stick with it and you will see.

Saving, again I don't see this as a big problem. You can save via the drink system or by going to sleep on any bed. Its hardly rocket science. I think the thing that is frustrating people more is that you can save before doing a task as easily as other games. If you make a mistake it has consequences.

    Will you like this game?

I think that depends on you. If you are the sort of person that role plays games like Skyrim and Fallout taking the time to stop for rest, eating and drinking then this game should be right up your street. If you play those games blasting through and not bothering to immerse yourself with things like eating and drinking then I think this isn't a game for you.

I would consider myself the latter but I have approached this with an open mind and I am loving the game and playing in a way I haven't done before.

That said the game isn't perfect but given the size of the team and the resources available what they have done is amazing.

Hopefully it will be a success and the team continues to support it. At the very least I hope it gives other developers a kick up the backside and encourages them to put more effort into their open world games.

Last, but certainly not least, the story is remarkable. I will always remember Henry's story. I feel like he and I are one.

Personally, I have experienced a few bugs. Villagers walking in place, camera unfocused on the speakers, and Henry getting stuck on staircases are just a few examples. I have not experienced save corruption or crashes, after playing 8 hours in.

So...once the developers release the patch 2 weeks from now (per Reddit developer), this game should be a lot more polished. I recommend those that are skeptical about this game, wait until then to purchase. It's one hell of a game.

the combat is a bit blocky, especially when dealing with multiple enemies. the game works on a lock on system, when you have an enemy in front of you youll lock on automatically and its difficult to change targets. but it is enjoyable once you get the hang of it and it requires a steady patient hand like most things in this game.

things like alchemy, lockpicking, and even pick pocketing are fleshed out minigames that require not only in game skill levels to make things easier but an understanding of how it works from the player, ie the first time you do anything in this game youll feel that its broken, but the more you practice the more you see that its very well done.

there are a few bugs in the game atm, but thats to be expected of a new release. the devs are working full time making patches for the various bugs and 2 such patches have already been released making the game soo much more enjoyable and less aggravating, the devs also listen to player feedback and have been implementing new features like a potion that resets your skill points.

storywise this game is very good, you play as a blacksmiths son, and due to unforeseen circumstances you have to travel the country in search of a sword your father made, all the while participating in a heavy civil war set around nobility pushing back against a lazy ruler and staging a coupe where they put his brother in charge. youll find yourself right in the middle of the action since your motives seem intertwined with this conflict

there are countless playstyles you can choose from, you could play a plate armored knight, or a lightly geared assassin, you can hunt game, and even learn to read. you can spend your nights building your alcohol resistance and gambling at the tavern with dice, or you can collect herbs and recipes and brew potions, when dealing with encounters you can play it the noble hero way where you help everyone and ask for no reward, or you can be a highwayman who demands gold from everyone. you can murder pretty much everyone if thats your fancy although a few npcs are immortal to prevent disrupting the story.

you can even build up the economy, when you sell gear to a trader the next time you see them theyll have gained a higher gold surplus by trading your items away, so then you can sell even more to them at a time. you can even participate in archery tournaments

and theres an in depth survival mechanism, you can starve, pass out from exhaustion, or even bleed to death. you need to eat and sleep, and bandage your wounds. you can get sick from food poisoning or actual poison. etc.

and this is kind of a niche point but the lead developer is an open anti PC anti SJW who supports gamergate. its good to see someone who is on the players side instead of cow towing to the regressive liberals who dont even play games but demand change in the name of combating "toxic masculinity" lol.

Kingdom Come is surely for the more hardcore-minded RPG players, and frankly, not for the younger generation whose only RPG so far has been Skyrim, Witcher 3 or both. However, this game is everything I hoped it would be, and I couldn't be happier.

Storytelling is on point, albeit the game starts with the same premise as just about every other 80's movie. It's not a bad thing by any means; more like a tried and true approach. The game just sucks you in from the start, and you hunger to explore all the nooks in the environment.

The battle mechanics are a breath of fresh air, and realistic. For example, if you're wearing plain clothes and a looter hits you with a sword, you're done. But, don some proper armor, and you'll be fine. In every other game, your armor makes negligible difference, as the timing of blocks, parries and dodges makes for more exciting game play. Not in KC:D. If a guy comes at you with a knife and you're wearing undies, you are dead. I love it.

There are somethings to get used to in the environment, though. For example, not everything is lootable as with many of the predecessors, and the things that are lootable don't really stick out. For example, you can find a barrel of arrows right next to a barrel of halberds, but only the arrows are lootable. Contrary to this intuition, you can pick up a bow just propped at a corner, but not an axe stuck to a tree trunk.

A lot of people also complain about lock picking mechanics, which are not that intuitive. That is to say, they do not follow the same logic as in Skyrim for example, but it takes only a few tries to master the mechanic. With a little fine tuning on consoles, there should be no gripes there either.

Overall, it's these little things that prevent me from giving a 10/10, while I ignore the current bugs in the game. And let's be honest, there are a LOT of bugs. If you are bothered by performance issues and expect to play a perfectly fine-tuned game, I'd recommend waiting a month or two for the devs to iron everything out.

I’m rating this game an 8/10 but rounding up from barely scratching a 7.5/10. Even though the concept of the game is very good, the execution falls short many times. I bought this game to scratch a very specific itch in the abscence of a current gen Elder Scrolls game, and it does it but falls short at times.

Graphics are beautiful, but textures pop in when galloping with a horse. Faces and animations are decent, but sometimes lip sync issues occur. The animations used for all character models are the same, after a while you notice that every movement Henry uses is the same than every single character you interact with.

Combat is by far the strongest asset of this game, its fun, challenging and very well polished in terms of animations and balance. The way armors work is fun too, you need to purchase several layers of armor, which make the looting system compensate for the lack of magic, even though some of the textures of the layers of armors you can get can sometimes glitch and show through an upper layer of armor.

The music isn't Jeremy Soule quality, but it is decent enough to provide some level of immersion. Some quests have glitches in animations which causes character models to be in awkward positions and this causes henry to talk to their necks or distorted models.

The way you progress in this game is very realistic and addictive, which is what I think other people don´t get. You are good for nothing at the beginning of the game, every skill you learn is learned from scratch, so archery, swordfighting, lockpicking, sneaking, etc. will be very challenging at the beginning of the game, and will become easier the more you attempt to use these skills.

The story up to the point I have played it (20hrs give and take) is fun and hooks you, you understand your character motivations and get to know his personality and the way he thinks and acts. Henry has some funny comments and moments which can make you giggle or even laugh.

I have to say though, the save system in this game is extremely frustrating. The game only saves when you complete a quest, are issued a quest or when you sleep. Aside from that, you need to save by using a specific item the game provides which is limited and needs to be purchased. It is very immersive and fun that the game tries to make you play in a day to day manner by saving when you sleep, but it can be frustrating that you lose hours of gameplay at a time because the game autosaved just before you begin your travels for the day.

Conversations and dialogue can at times be slow and lack flow, some of the options you have for speech clearly need another option used first for it to make sense. The use of strength, speech and nobility for different dialogue options is entertaining since it shows that the way you are building your character really does matter.

It is important to note that some quests are extremely glitched, and need to be played over again to be able to complete them. It also makes little sense that being a blacksmiths son, the only skill that you cannot learn is smithing.

The change of pace in the gameplay is fun, since you need to take care of many things within cities and villages by investigating, talking, drinking and managing certain responsibilities and then you go and fight for another period of time, which makes the game more addictive.

Cities and villages feel realistic, with a proper amount of people, merchants and quests and activities. The map isn´t by any means huge, but it has a proper size and details to keep you engaged after 20 or so hours. Being close to 30 hours and still having much to explore and discover is a good sign. The places you visit in this game can be absolutely gorgeous. Riding your horse and exploring can be an incredible experience in this game, it is one of its strengths for sure.

Cutscenes and dialogues can be fun and entertaining, but they sometimes get in the way of the game. Sometimes quests have too many of these in between, which is a nice attempt of making a story driven first person RPG, but sometimes it is too exaggerated.

In conclusion, this game has a lot of strengths and assets which makes it very fun to play and addictive if you are an RPG fan like myself. But being honest, it seems that for every strength this game has it also presents a flaw. It gives me the impression that it should have been polished and tested a bit more before release. Buy this game if you are a hardcore RPG fun, you will sure enjoy it, especially if you like Elder Scrolls and Fallout like games. But if you are not that into RPGs and your only reference is The Witcher 3, then this game will disappoint you.

Just saying. People misrepresent other people's issues and it is frustrating. That said, I did buy the game.

I am going to provisionally give this game an 8. Though if some of the optimization issues are not fixed let's just say I wouldn't replay it. There is tons to like. The graphics are sometimes amazing, sometimes not. Why is the village on the loading screen under rendered? The PS4 pro is a far cry from some the PC versions seen on youtube, but it is still pretty and there is lots of detail. I love the general gameplay and how realistic it is. It is hard and very story driven. Don't buy this and think you are going to Skyrim it up. It is "open-world," but there is a five plus hour prologue where you pretty much have to stick to the story—but the story is good, and it is refreshing to have an everyman character like Henry. I really dig his story.

Bugs, there are a lot. Sometimes I've had to reload because my character couldn't hit someone, or anything. One time all the voiceovers stopped and another time my map cursor disappeared. Another time I randomly got shot up into the air and died—I lost an hours gameplay. None of these issues should be a problem. Skyrim was so broken when it came out. What makes them an issue is the lack of quick saves. I like the spirit of the save system, what they are trying to go for. But when all of the sudden you can't contact NPCs in fights and you have to run back to the other side of the map to save in order to reboot the game, that's an issue. Every time a glitch happens I usually loose a significant amount of progress. This is frustrating—but alas I am still playing. Also, make the lock game easier. I love being a thief but I've just given up.

    :)

These issues aside, and there is no reason to assume the dev won't fix them. This is an impressive game.

The main problem lies with a bunch of immature reviewers lately that are demanding like babies ( maybe they are youngsters? ) that give 0 scores to games not of it's quality but of it's maturity, realism and challenge, or of problems that lie in gaming as a whole ( look at new expansion for Civilization Vi reviews! ), their are arguments are close too: This game is not real life and I am not super hero! 0 Score! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In an opening summary I would say that this game is a unique and tantalizing step forward in the way it arguably blends RPG and simulation. It possesses features that allow you to play entirely based on your mood - having a relaxing stroll/ride through the countryside, creeping around looking for valuable trinkets to loot which gives a satisfying feeling of deviousness and selfish gain, and taking someone up on a duel and going at them stabbing and slashing them into surrender and once more profiteering from the ransom you demanded of them in order to let them go. All of these factors are really enjoyable, and after playing about eight more hours today I've well and truly built a greater appetite to see what else the game can bring - and it definitely feels like there's a heck of a lot more.

When I initially played what we might call the prologue with Henry's village being attacked and his parents killed and the eventual return to bury them, I felt like for those first three hours I hadn't really played the game in its full fledged form. Of course many hours later I now know this to be the case, however the prologue, intending to be a tutorial of sorts to help bed you in, didn't bed me in well at all. Yes you learn swordfighting basics, your need for sustenance etc..., but it felt like I was told the first ten percent and then it was left up to me to find out (sometimes by feeling around blindly or by plain luck) the rest of the many meticulous details this game offers. This was cumbersome and frustrating, and I have to admit that this was the case for some time and I ended up falling back on watching someone else's walkthrough on two or three occasions to find out how to progress the game. The most frustrating instance of this was trying to get out of Talmberg. My instinct told me to just pile off the drawbridge and down the hill, but I didn't get the sense that the game was influencing me that way, and I thought that being more methodical and patient would reap greater benefits, which it would have if the game hadn't bugged and the shady trader never appeared, no matter what I did, no matter what time of day I came. In the end I took what I could weapons wise (though of course I never got a lockpick from the trader and apart from the miller's side quest I haven't seen a lockpick since, none of the traders appear to have them either, so if that's another bug that might be that part of the game well and truly messed up). In the end, after about 30-60 minutes of searching like a plum for the invisible trader and seeing no other solutions (I now know there are about four), I jumped for it and ran like mad from the pursuing guard, successfully escaping.

Since I've been able to get out and explore the wider world there has been a plethora of thrills and spills, delights and disappointments. The experience as a whole has been that of a slow bedding in process, and in some cases many failures were experienced before success eventually came. I'm beginning to think that a second playthrough may be as enjoyable or perhaps even better given I'll probably have enough mastery of the game to get a grasp on what path I want to take from the beginning. Right now I have a feeling of being in control sometimes, but then something happens that wrests that control away from me.

In terms of how the game runs it's very beautiful graphically, however there has been the aforementioned Talmberg bug and the time where all the corpses in Skallitz were briefly stood rigidly upright instead of being sprawled across the ground. The voice acting is ok but not great, but some of the cutscenes, particularly ones of the Cuman army, have really amazed me.

All in all, the sentence I would use to describe Kingdom Come Deliverance is this: it's a meticulous, sprawling, beautiful yet blemished game which will need to be rescued from these blemishes by the numerous patches which will surely materialize in the future.

I understand why many do not like them but I've always used them on my Nintendo games/consoles and it feels like trying to split wood blindfolded. Just add an option for the likes of us that do like using gyroscope to make fine aiming adjustments while running and/or on moving targets.

And sure, there can be many more adjustments made to make the game a lot better but what the developers did here is a jewel. You can just tell how this kind of games are completely lacking for some years now. I still play Mount and Blade to fill this medieval fighting need :) and there are so many of us that crave for a proper medieval RPG.

KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE it the one that fills a lot of this need but it could be a lot better.

KCD makes a lot of its modest possibilities: The independent combat system is great fun (the only criticism here would be the combos, which were almost impossible to implement at least for me), the open, beautiful game world is atmospheric and immersive due to its "realistic" design (completely without volcanoes and other crap, there is still enough to discover), the character system with its perks is super coherent (learning by doing), the quest are well written with hardly any repetitions and several ways to solve and and and and ... What for me as for many others were also very well received: in KCD you are not the designated hero with overwhelming abilities, but you literally have to fight your way out of the gutter and, thanks to the skill system, naturally develop your skills according to your own playing style. If you expect a lot of action, you will be disappointed, KCD is more for "slow gamers" and develops its full fascination over time.
The start might be a little hard and even contains some light "survival" elements which makes it even more rewarding fighing (or sneaking) you way through it.

Sure, the technology doesn't blow anyones mind on a normal PS4, which has bothered me, especially with the somewhat stiff NPC movements and the frequent pop-ups of textures, buildings etc. Luckily, many other early issues such as the annoying lock picking with the controller have already been patched.

With the story you could go a step further here and there, but the variety of the quest design, the many side quest and greats dlcs, the game world etc. are absolutely covering all the technical issues . The anticipation for part 2 could hardly be bigger. This is a real immersive rpg you can spend many hours with. Its not a perfect game but it makes many things different in a positive way than other so called rpgs like Witcher 3 (dont get me wrong, it loved this games as well) which all in all makes KCD a wonderful experience.

Well if you're happy and comfortable with these games KCD is not your game. Many negative reviews here are said to be game breaking. No, they are the developers' choices.

Other than that the story is engaging, even though its simple, and there is a lot of things to do.

At release this game had a lot of game breaking bugs, therefor I originally had it rated as a 6, but most of that is now fixed. Even though it’s still quite buggy, it’s nowhere near the level it previously was. However, the game is not as polished as a many other games which is one of the biggest drawbacks with the game. But the atmosphere and immersion this game manages to provide outweighs the games lackluster polish.

Overall this is a solid game that provided me with much enjoyment and was different enough compared to many other RPG’s to stand out in my mind, much thanks to the games approach to semi-realism. Would recommend to anyone who likes RPG’s with a little slower pace than normal.

A masterpiece! This is what I have been waiting for. Dragon Age Inq. failed miserably, Fallout 4 failed, Mass Effect failed... To make space for this I gladly deleted monster hunter world. As a big fan of the Mount&Blade franchise this scratches just that itch on PS4! Sure it has still bugs (some 2 crashes in 10 hours played, not very much actually) but I´m sure they will work it out. The setting and historical accuracy is amazing, the swordplay is very good (i have some experience in late-medieval swordsmanship, Fiore -style longsword) and the story is interesting. This is the best RPG I've ever played. I love everything about it. The landscapes are ten times more beautiful than even Oblivion. The harshness of everything reminds me a lot of Morrowind. Even the lockpicking skill progression a lot of people complain about feels perfect for me. You need to break some lockpicks before you're able to do anything. And that's the way it should be. Reading must be learned first and can be a really useful skill. It takes multiple ingame hours to read a book. But you can unlock a perk which makes you less hungry and tired while reading... there is so much love and detail in this game which makes roleplaying really immersive. I could ramble on for hours. From other peoples reviews it seems I got lucky and only encountered very few bugs and it seems like they are actively working on them. Finally I can stop hoping for Bethesda to come to their senses. Thank you so much Warhorse. Expand

I hadn't seen or heard much about Kingdom Come: Deliverance up until about a week before release. Seemed exactly like the type of game I was looking for after drifting between various titles for the past few months and feeling quite mehhh about them all.
If something doesn't grab my attention whether it be book, film or game within the first half an hour I will put that thing down and never go back to it without hesitation. Kingdom Come NEARLY fell foul of this. I'll explain why.

    1) Day 1 patch - 23gb - basically everything on the hard copy I'd bought was redundant as it was replaced by an entirely new set of files from a server. Not a good start, BUT I persevered. Having worked in the games industry for over 10 years, I understood Day One patches are par for the course.
    2) Day 3 patch 13gb - Now this one did irk me. I'd still only given over an hour or so to the game and there was suddenly another huge patch.
    3) The opening title sequence where it gives you a brief history of when and where the game is set. To this day, I still don't know what button to press to skip this. I hammer everything. Sometimes it feels like its circle, some days its x, other days its the Start/Options button. This is basic bread and butter stuff for any game, come on guys.
    4) Lockpicking - I've seen people hate this, I've seen people love the difficulty of it. I am well and truly in the hate camp. It just doesn't work on console. At all. Fully appreciate its a new way of approaching lockpicking, but its executed so badly on console that I just don't bother with it. I'd rather suffer the ramifications of beating someone to death to get a door or trunk key than to sit trying to bother with it. I'm really glad they're looking into it and patching it for console as it is needed. It sticks out glaringly from every other trainable skill as being flawed.

So I'll be honest, I put down Kingdom Come based off the above. I just thought 'clunky' and would be trading it in within the week.

As chance may have it, I ended up having a days holiday from work last week. At a loose end, I decided to start afresh, give it a solid chunk of my time to give it a fair crack, after all I'd spent £50 on it.

I played through the Prologue, and then once I was left to my own devices out in the world, this is where the fun started.

I spent the next 12 hours of gameplay doing side quests or doing my own thing. The game got its hooks in me. I spent time learning skills like hunting long before you come across it as part of your quest line. I love that there's no reticle and you have to simply, be good at using a bow, which makes the pay off during a hunt all the more satisfying, particularly when you head into a town and cash in on the meat and hides you earn (top tip: if you want to earn good money in KCD - become a hunter).

I've become so immersed in the world, that the main quests seem peripheral to my own goals of levelling up the various skills, improving my status within towns, taking care of bandits out on the road, and of course, hunting.

As for the quests, I like how you aren't gifted anything. You have to work for it. This where I'd say its more medieval simulator than out and out game. And it works. Why should you be gifted anything?

You want to beat a guy who is a seasoned swordsman in a duel, then you learn how.
You want to become a hunter downing stag out in the wild, don't expect herds of them rushing through the vast forests - you be patient and you track them (the bleed out feature on hunting animals is great).
You want to be scholarly and learn all their is to know - you put the graft in and you learn to read.

Oh and you want good prices when haggling in towns? Keep your nose clean. Keep your clothes clean whilst you're at it.

I've barely even begun to touch things such as herbalism, so my hunting yield is offsetting my expense on saviour schnapps, but has also netted me a good sum of money so I can get a better horse, and better saddlebags so I can spend longer out in the wild.

Yes there's graphical glitching. Yes the draw distance is a little sloppy at times, yes there are still niggling collision and game stopper issues that will hopefully get ironed out, but given the sheer size of the game you can understand why some of these are still to be ironed out.

It got an 8 from me. I'd have given it a 9 save for the lockpicking which i think hinders a whole other aspect of the game.

I'm enjoying it that much, I'm hoping once the issues from this one has settled, that there's plans to expand it. Would definitely buy more.

Those who have given it super negative scores seem to have encountered the issues I initially had and dismissed it off the back of them. Don't. Put the effort in. Its so worth it.

This review is for spanish people, I respect english, but I think too many reviews are available in English. Many people needs reviews in their matter language for know about this game. I cant understand about negative scores, because this is a wonderful incredible realistic medieval game. A patch solves and fixed numerous bugs including in the first day game. In my opinion this Kingdom Come Deliverance is a jewel on RPG games. Its realistic life and his variety and content is huge.

The cutscenes are beautifully directed, the gameplay mechanics are insanely creative (you even have to learn how to read before you can use books), and it’s incredibly historically accurate. It’s nice to just walk around and explore the world the development team has created. Combat is intense and your character isn’t actually bad at wielding a sword until you get good at it, which explains why a lot of people are complaining about the controls. They just don’t get it.

It’s glitchy and buggy, yes, but this is literally an indie game let’s not forget. Triple A budget titles are buggy on launch too. Their reach might have been further than their grasp, but at least they had the courage and tenacity to reach. If you want another game where you run in a straight line chopping enemies in half keep looking, but if you’re bored of the same old **** and want an immersive, historically accurate, mature, adult video game, give this one a shot.

It’s an admirably ambitious and atmospheric game that sometimes sparkles like a diamond, but the PS4 version I played was so ridiculously underdeveloped I couldn’t believe someone had the nerve to publish it in such a disgraceful state. [04/2018, p.45]

Despite the volley of issues that'll be unique to your experience, committing to the universe that Warhorse has built in Kingdom Come: Deliverance still carries an ultimately rewarding feeling. I wonder how much more I'd enjoy it if it were a little smoother (fast travel is not fast), but the atmosphere doesn't shy away from the brutality of the era, how rugged life was centuries ago as well as the omnipresence of God in their everyday lives, from conversation to action.

A much more realistic take on the Elder Scrolls formula which will delight some fans of that series while frustrating others.
