While this may not be my favorite game, it hasn't stopped me from getting addicted to it. I really enjoy the difficulty and skill curve.

Whatever happens you have to learn from, adapt and move on.
As for the lockpicking complaints, well those are valid. It's terribly difficult to pick locks at the start. So much so that I have broken all my lockpicks and couldn't complete the "tutorial" on it. The good news is that they are already developing a patch to make this a bit easier for those of us with controllers.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves story driven games, history, and a challenge.

A Rich Game with Poor Performance

Here you play as Henry, the blacksmiths boy who has a taste for adventure and combat…
Youre a noob to both and this game does a great job of making you feel just as such.
This game is set during mideval times in the holy roman empire.
Though don’t let the setting fool you, this isn’t some dorky dungeons and dragons skyrim nonsense.
Just kidding I love skyrim.. but the other bit I wasn’t kidding about
This game focuses on realism and is a much more compact adventure..
Think less skyrim and withcer and think more assassins creed meets for honor
The world is big and beautiful like your mom…
But this isn’t a world that was built to explore, it was built to look beautiful and feel real, and it does so perfectly…
The revenge story here takes about 20 hours to complete but the time you put into this games world will determine your experience with this story…
This game can be whatever you like..
You can go out, learn combat, plunder villiages for their food and ritches, go after the finest weapons and armors, or you can be noble and play this game with honor, only killing when you have to.. which the game does a great job of pushing you more towards this because of how difficult this game actually is to master… excluding this games final mission I probably only killed maybe 5 or 6 enemies my entire playthrough…
Youre not thrown into battles or dangerous situations… you have to seek them…
And seeking them isn’t all too wise, as dying in this game can mean losing hours of progress, especially if youre not sticking to the story
Sleeping in a bed you own and completing quests is the only time this game autosaves.. the rest is up to you..
And the drinks that allow you to save any time youd like are rare. Though ive heard world the developers are back petaling on this decision.
My experience was more of a im a naïve kid doing what I have to to get an important sword back that was taken from me.. and other things…
getting into trouble planning my escape when no one would let me out of the castle…, getting drunk with a priest and then having to deliver a sermon in his place in the morning
ringing some bells in the bell towers if you know what im saying,
Go on a hunting trip with spoiled royalty
I didn’t choose to go out into the world and become a warrior and this was fine…
    I wasn’t punished for this..
And playing this way made me not have to worry about this games hunger and energy mehcnaics… id fast travel to an area I know, sleep for a night and get some food from the pot in the morning and continue through the story…
though this games very final story mission will definitely require you to have decent combat knowledge and gear
Combat I found very frustrating at the beginning, which makes sense for your character, but slowly I got the hang of it, if attacking in different directions, timing my blacks, mixing up my stabs and slashes, I felt like I was a deadly dancer and I was…
enemies that used to mean im going to die turned into, you better have a nice reward on you for me to loot for you wasting my time in this forest like you are right now.
But multiple enemies will always give you trouble, again this is no skyrim.. no magic, no super powerful attacks or weapons.. its pure combat..
And as far as other gear goes you can pick it off of enemies or save up some cash to buy..
However you do have to keep your armour nice and clean, take baths everyonce in a while if you want to charm the people of this world. As how you look, smell, and act will effect how people treat you.
Theres also a leveling system in the background that allows you to build up some perks like being able to carry more items.. but again realism… youll only have the necessitites on you… the rest goes to your horse to sell later…
This was an overall really great experience however, I dealt with basically a game breaking bug for the majority of the game…
As there was a character that wouldn’t stop following.. he would knock me out of my sleeping and waiting.. it was annoying and frustrating, I would have to get on my horse wait for him to catch up to me and ride back to a bed for example to get a little sleep to get my health back, or even to talk to npcs… as he would break those interactions as well…
Easily the most annoying bug in the game, especially considering I dealt with it for 7 of this games 13 main quests…
But the most heart breaking thing about this game is that its performance on the ps4 during the final mission practically makes it unplayable..
if you try to get into the mix the game stutters and your character is thrown all over the place and if you don’t have the best gear or weapons, youre really going to need luck to get through to the credits..
It’s a shame my final tastes with this game were sour

This game is amazing. I am surprised at how well it was down considering the budget. I have over 30 hours in and only had a few minor bugs. I don't think the bugs break the game so don't let that discourage you from this experience.

From the sluggish movements of the character, to the illogical combat, lockpicking mechanics, absolutely BROKEN stealth (i swear that from the moment you crouch, you feel like the whole world tunes in to the sounds you make), and everything that involves you playing the game feels like its just made to be a nuisance. I understand what they where aiming for, but they could have chosen better mechanics. Slow and painful controls DO NOT constitute "realism"! Limiting the save system to a in-game item does not constitute A HARD GAME! You CANNOT translate "realism" with a 14 buttons controller. Not to mention that the PS4 version is ass. Slow, low framerate, low textures, low foliage, low distance, low everything. Feels like such a forced port, and I wouldn't mind "low everything" if the game was playing right. This game is not boring (well, it is a little), it's ANNOYING! And it's a shame, really. I loved Illusion Softworks. I actually rooted for the Czech developers, and I loved what the czech gaming companies do, and have done in the past, which adds even more to the disappointment of this game :(

Edit: What can I say... as many games with soul behind them, it grew on me once I got more into the game. The story and the way it unfolds is great. Characters grow on you, and they are well written. What can I say? It gets good in the end, but you need so much patience and time with it. Edited the score from 3 to 8.

This is a true role playing game where you are playing the role of Henry, and you can play him however you want. Your actions/decisions really do dramatically affect how the world, and its people react to you.

KCD strives for realism, and hits the mark in many ways. Technical issues, and bugs detract from this at times. However in my experience they can be overlooked, and worked around without much difficulty. Hand to hand combat can be a bit janky, and clunky at first, as it should be for any novice swordsman. As you play, leveling up your melee skills you become more proficient not only by player experience but, you unlock combos that once mastered make combat much more fluid, and free flowing. Archery is great from start to end, very realistic no cross hairs, you really have to know your stuff (practice hunting animals before people) to hit things reliably.

Henry takes some time getting used to with the voice acting, and his mannerisms. I've grown used to him though. He reminds me of a 'good ol boy' of medieval times. He isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but, gets a lot of points for effort.

I feel like the world we get to play in in KCD is probably its best feature. I challenge any game to show me a better, more realistic, forest. The forests in KCD are absolutely 10/10. I find myself hunting game a lot as I enjoy exploring, and being in the wilds. The towns, and other areas are great too, and seem spot on for how you'd envision the era to be.

On a PS4, the stealth mechanics are so incompatible with the controller that it makes that portion of the game unplayable. In my opinion, these are possibly the worst mechanics of any game I have ever played on a PS4. Save your money because this will likely lead to nothing but frustration and disappointment.

So they should be very proud with what they have achieved with such little resource and staffing as compared to AAA games.
This game is by no means perfect but then what game is, the initial day one patch of 23GB shows the team were under pressure right until the end and although the game does have some bugs you can bet your top hat that they will support this game and it will continue to flourish. I have never played a game that makes me look forward to exploring the environment, the world they have re-created is absolutely breath taking, you really can lose yourself in the beauty of the world, the trees, the tiny little details that keep you in the immersion and make the whole experience work. The way the light filters through the trees its beautiful, the sound of local wildlife.
The water looks good and stumbling across a lake, with the water perfectly still and only the sun’s rays caressing the surface I had to stop and look, just to soak it all up. The way the sun rises above the hill and impairs your vision yet covering everything in a lush golden light, the foliage whips in the wind and birds take flight when you disturb their morning song as you canter past on your trusted steed. Pair this with a movie quality soundtrack and you no longer need to step outside the house but merely step into the world of KCD. Voice acting is great in places but not consistently good, I also noticed the eyes are lifeless and don’t look at you but rather look through you which takes away the immersion, as does not being able to pick up all objects, some bowls, cups etc. can’t be stolen which is a shame when you want to make some extra coin. Cut scenes are plentiful and if you’re not one to watch them you can skip them but your here for the journey right? The characters are well designed and Henry is likeable, the introduction is a good 5 hours and WarHouse really take their time in setting the scene and your place in the world.
As a blacksmiths son you really can’t do a great deal, your father is against you sword fighting so you’ve excelled in chasing girls and drinking the tavern out of beer. When the story unfolds and events play out, your left to find your own way and this is where the game opens up. This game is full of choices and every action has a reaction. Life goes on in the world regardless of what you do, if your late for a quest or decide not to turn up or you get distracted chasing butterflies then that quest continues without you, you need to manage your time and Henry, he will need feeding, washing, resting and whoring if you’re feeling generous. If you forget he will prompt although not for the last activity on that list. The minigames are tough in KCD but they are only tough because Henry is not a pickpocket by trade, nor is he a swordman or a tradesman so everything is a massive learning curve for both you and Henry, but it’s rewarding so much so that you appreciate the steep curve as the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction far surpasses the frustration.
Lock picking is a delicate task and I feel it needs looking at on the console version. I really enjoy the freedom the game gives, you can finish a quest and then go exploring and maybe stumble upon a riddler who will give you money if you play his game, or maybe a bandit will ambush you whilst you are travelling through the woods, the world feels alive although I would like to see more wildlife, the villages could be better populated also, almost go down the AC Origins route with proper crowd interaction but it’s very early days for the Studio.
Combat was tense and again satisfying with the best fights occurring 1v1, you really have to think about your approach you can’t run in Monty Python style it will just end up in tears, it’s the only game whereby if you personally don’t learn it nor will Henry but then you don’t always have to fight either. If you good with words you can talk your way out of situations or just avoid them completely with some stealth.
One of the most interesting mechanics I enjoyed is the reading skill, as a blacksmith boy Henry can’t read, although he can look at the words he himself doesn’t understand them, as his skill progresses the words un-jumble themselves as he starts to make sense of the pages. Thus in turn allowing him to learn new potions or skills. It’s a great idea and very refreshing, the whole game feels fresh, new and exciting, push the bugs to one side, For what it is its amazing for what it will be it’s a masterpiece and a future classic.

One of the most realistic role playing games I've ever played.
I found the characters of this medieval story quite interesting.
Also, never has character progression been so rewarding : Henry can't align two words, mount or handle any kind of weapon ... and it's up to you to make it learn to speak, read, fight, mount ... I hope there will be a sequel. I've not encountered any bugs

I would have given it 10, but docked a point because of the graphical glitches. I haven't experienced any game breaking bugs, as others have complained about.

Some people complain about the difficulty and, yes, this game requires some patience to learn (highly recommend that you spend some time with the combat trainer in Rattay), but its just like any skill: it takes time to learn and even longer to master. The combat system is quite flexible and deep, but this means that you can't simply expect to pick it up and be a master. Similarly, the game tells the story of the main character, a blacksmith, not a swordsman, not a bowman. You and he learn together. This does mean that combat can be very hard at first and that's definitely not for everyone, but if you're willing to sink a little time into it, its quite rewarding and very fun. I personally have had no issue playing with a ps4 controller, as others have mentioned they had.

This game was kind of mazochistic to play. It's slow, full of bugs and bad design ideas -- but somehow I have fond memories of it. It could have been something great, the herald of a new age in RPG, but its clunkyness make it a missed shot at greatness. It's a milestone nonetheless, and a game worth replaying and re-considering. The historical accuracy is a great idea!

I was hyped as anyone could be about this game before coming out. A realistic (emphasis on the realistic part) medieval RPG that wanted to recreate the high middle ages without dragons or magic. An ambitious project to be sure but one faithfully recreated to my satisfaction. I don't think I've ever seen an attention to detail as seen here. From the muddying of clothing to having to learnI was hyped as anyone could be about this game before coming out. A realistic (emphasis on the realistic part) medieval RPG that wanted to recreate the high middle ages without dragons or magic. An ambitious project to be sure but one faithfully recreated to my satisfaction. I don't think I've ever seen an attention to detail as seen here. From the muddying of clothing to having to learn even the most basic of fighting skills (you're a blacksmith with no training), the game immediately immerses you into this world of nobility and knights and knowing your place in it.

You start off as Henry, a blacksmith's son just trying to get by in life when the evil Hungarian scum under the banner of your king's brother comes and turns everything upside down. The main story really doesn't have any alternate paths, maybe a few shortcuts but mostly it's quite linear. You'll have to level up by accomplishing side quests which are for the most engaging and have different ways to solve them. If you don't do these you'll be in a world of hurt later on. The writing and dialogue in these quests is well written and even have some hilarious moments. The combat is not easy, using a hit directional style of attack and defense. You'll most likely get your butt handed to you on a silver platter early on but once you get more skilled and better armor you'll laugh as your enemies flee in terror. Overall, it's a great presentation of rising from rags to riches with some detective work thrown in (apparently a regional governor trusts an illiterate blacksmith to do what his magister can't).

The RPG mechanics are serviceable but some were kind of pointless skills, and you'll quickly figure out which one's you actually need and work on them exclusively. The perks are the same, with many being totally useless regardless of playstyle. Also, many have a tradeoff for some reason, like run faster but also run out of stamina faster. Why? Can't your character just get in better shape and run faster AND farther? Anyway, it's adequate but it feels more could've been done.

The bugs in this game are numerous and this is where the game stumbles from being truly great. Some are only cosmetic issues, others are game breaking. I had everything from hilarious graphical anomalies, to quests failing for no reason or quest notifications firing off even after quest completion. I also had saves get corrupted inducing controller throwing rage after I realized I had lost hours of progress. This is definitely a case where the devs either rushed the game out knowing these bugs were present or just didn't have time to fix them before release. To their credit they have been working to rectify many of these in addition to adding features.

The graphics are a mixed bag; the draw distance is horrendous with pop in textures even at close range. Perhaps the PC version is better but the PS4 version is borderline immersion breaking where people's faces appear on their headless bodies right in front of you. Attention definitely went into character models and facial animations look above average, as well as good weather effects that look amazing when mud forms on the ground with individual puddles. When it's there it looks good and realistic, but by god if that texture pop up doesn't ruin everything.

Overall, it's a good game that suffers from not having enough time to iron out its issues before release. In its initial state I would have given it a 6.5 but because the devs were willing to pour heart and soul into an almost uncharted game type (seriously, how many hyper realistic historical medieval IPs are there?), the love here shows and my personal affection for this time period will let me be generous and award it an 8. If you are a fan of history, realistic RPGs, or adventure games then this is a definite buy. If you're expecting this to be like dragon age or skyrim then you might want to pass. With the improvements and patches this game will soon be truly deserving of accolades. I can't wait to see what else this development team has in store for us.

    End score: 8/10

Yes, this game it's far from being perfect and it has many flaws (even with the patch it crushed 3 times). But let's talk about the game: At the beginning you are going to hate and love this game but especially at the beginning you are going to hate some moments. Don't hesitate to look for information on internet when you need to. Also, they don't tell you but you have to maintain the circle button pushed to run. You can be really addicted to this game and spend many hours. I recommend to play this game if you have a lot of free time because you can't always save the game when you want. There are also many and interesting sidequests but if you don't have much time go straight for the main missions (you'll have more than enough). There are like 2 big battles; when they ask you how many enemies have you seen always say the "many" option so you have as much help as possible. Trust me, you'll thank me. I could be talking and advising for hours. For instance, I got addicted to steal everywhere and everyone and unlocking everything. If you are in a village where your reputation is very low and you can't advance because the guy of the mission leaves when he sees you just leave everything to your own personal chest (especially if you own robbed stuff. The things that carries the horse as well), go to a guard, punch him unarmed and surrender, go to prison and when you are released your reputation will be higher. You may want to save the game before doing that just in case. And I know horses are expensive but look for the fastest horse and buy when you have the money.

    Best things:
-Plot, voices, dialogues, medieval atmosphere, historical, the weather, clothes, armours, etc.

    Worst things:
You can't save whenever you want, riding the horse it's tricky because of the bushes and small walls, also, when you run fast you see the characters like half appearing until eventually they all got to be like they should to be. It's really a pity because although graphics were not great they were good enough; but this things... Really a pity. Also you feel wasting your time when the game is loading or you have to wait and let the time pass or moving in the map, etc. Fighting is also tricky. I recommend you to try to fight your enemies one by one, so when you have the enemies' attention run from them (after a while only one will be pursuing you) and start shooting arrows to them (although you'll have to train because you can't aim easily. Also always choose a bow with a bit les of half of your current strength).

I know I write many bad things but I still think that if you have time give it a try. It took me 105 hours having done all the sidequests (but not all the activities). I just wish that this game had fixed all this issues before being released because it would have been and awesome game. I think in some ways is too realistic.

Overall I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys action RPGs and can appreciate the supreme level of detail that went into the world building. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a fantastic debut game from Warhorse Studios. It's a richly detailed and action packed world of high adventure and grim villainy. But for a few technical issues this is a superb experience.

I struggled with it's combat and lockpicking at first but, after a few hours of practice, I found a truly rewarding experience. Before long I was a swordsman worthy of knighthood, a pickpocket who could pilfer my targets grandmother when I stole from him and a locksmith who could just look at a lock to make it open.

I was somewhat dubious if this game when I started playing but, boy, am I glad I persevered with it. It is one of the best RPG's of this generation and I am hoping that the next game in this franchise is in the works. I have marked it down due to some pretty bad texture and polygon pop-in and a couple of minor bugs without which it would have easily made 9.5/10 for me.

If you enjoy RPG's then please, please play this game. It is an utter pleasure to play and will last you for hundreds of hours. I kept playing until I achieved the platinum trophy which is no small undertaking.

You will get cut down by knights and bandits and it will fuel your desire to get better every time you pop this game in, taking Henry from a dumb ass blacksmith's son, to a sword-wielding killing machine. The beauty of this game is the normalcy of the missions. Don't expect to have Shadow of Mordor level battles every mission, the slow-pacing, dialogue-heavy, story-rich world in which KCD resides in is what truly makes this a unique game. You won't care that you're not having sword fights every moment of the game because it is an experience just to live in the world of KCD. Some of my favorite parts of the game are the most mundane aspects of it. I even love reading the codex to brush up on my history lessons just to enrich my experience. Knowing the state of toilets in the 15th century, or how most hydration came from alcoholic beverages, or how windows were kept small to trap in heat, just furthers my enjoyment of this game and speaks to how unique of an experience KCD is. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yea, its harder, but not so much. Average player can do it (frustrated are noobs :)). Bow is very hard to handle, but its possible to learn it - but i recommend it for hunting. Story is good and conversations are great. I havent found saving system bad, its good that you cant load and load again to cheat.

Negatives: I have bought game after a year since release so I have experienced only 2 minor bugs, which had no influence on game. In middle game, i was very rich and there weren't better goods to buy. Monastery was frustrating but in was on purpose to meet alcoholic priests in basement.

So i would give 8-9/10 but many people rated this game bad because bugs werent fixed at that time, so i rate it 10/10.

This is an incredible RPG, that immerses you in the real-life history of medieval Europe. This is a cerebral game that is all about immersion, taking you from a common blacksmith's son on a journey of discovery and adventure. You will start the game with limited abilities and will need to devote your time to learning and improving your fighting skills, your understanding of plants and and medicine, learning to haggle and even to read. You'll meet interesting characters and take part in some challenging quests. Voice acting is mostly excellent throughout. There isn't much hand holding, so be prepared to read the codex and tutorials.

Combat and generally the controls feel clunky but manageable in the end. Also technically you will see loading textures and stuff. But nothing crucial. At first look it will overwhelm you. It will chew you up and spit you out. But it is intentional. Your progress will be very slow, but incredibly rewarding. This is the total opposite of "casual" RPGs like Skyrim. It will take time to fully embrace all the mechanics , but once it "clicks" you won't let your hands of it. The game's world is so beautifully crafted, even on console. Can't imagine how it would look on PC. I've never seen forests, hills and landscapes like this (ok, Red Dead Redemption 2 maybe, but remember this game was developed by a small indie team). To me, the world Design is it's biggest selling point. It may not be polished like a Triple A game but it is simply beautiful. Sound, music and dialogues are good, too. Quest design is awesome, so many ways to get your tasks done. It is really immersive, you really feel like this small peasant who slowly but steadily becomes better in his skillset. Overall you can feel the developers love for their game and the historical setting in so many ways. But it is definitely not for everyone and I understand why many people will play like 2 or 3 hours and quit.

This game had an unfortunate start. Warhorse had to put in a lot of post-release work to iron out game-breaking bugs and performance issues but they eventually got there, added in some DLC and hey presto here we are with a wonderful experience. It's for that reason that I held off on a review, it just wasn't fair to throw one out when the developers cared enough to want to fix it.

Its story is based on real historical data, as is the map. These are real locations that you can find south-east of Prague, check it out. I enjoyed the story a lot, the gameplay mechanics were a little jank but learning them and becoming good at the game even in the hardcore mode with all of the negative perks felt rewarding. It's the only game to have me interested enough to actually visit the locations it's based on so it deserves kudos just for that. Hope to see more from this lovely studio sometime.

One of the best immersions I got from video game! This game just feels amazing. Very realistic. From weak to strong genre. You need to just train and you can get from peasant who cannot even read to renown and respected knight .

Kingdom Come Deliverance is a game that immerses you almost perfectly in medieval times, placing you in control of Henry, a blacksmith's son from a small village called Skalice. Among its positive aspects, the well-polished immersion stands out: walking through the rustic streets of Rataje or Sázava while hearing your armor clank with every step makes you feel like a real knight. Among its positive aspects, the well-polished immersion stands out: walking through the rustic streets of Rataje or Sázava while hearing your armor clank with every step makes you feel like a real knight. The combat is also noteworthy: despite some shortcomings, it's well executed, and each fight feels like a scene from a movie. The fights are tense from start to finish, and you feel a constant progression between confrontations. Additionally, the game's skill system is excellent and unconventional. To level up, you must use a specific skill or weapon, allowing you to learn and improve your level at the same pace as Henry. For instance, to level up your sword skill, you must spend several hours using the sword to attack Cumans or training on a battlefield.

Moving on to the negative aspects, technical issues become apparent. There are numerous bugs, ranging from errors in loading textures to failures in missions, dialogues, or even combat. Although they are not serious bugs, they can take you out of the game's immersion. The game's pace is correct, but it might not be to everyone's liking, and some missions can feel stuck and endless, making you tired of playing for hours on the same task. Additionally, some missions can be overwhelming and confusing due to the number of objectives they present.

In conclusion, Kingdom Come Deliverance is not a perfect game, nor is it for everyone. Still, being objective, it's an enjoyable game, even for those who aren't medieval fans. Is it worth it? It depends on whether you have the free time to invest more than 60 hours in a game and can handle feeling stuck at times.

・Frequency of loading, alienating the sense of immersion in gameplay
・Unique UI for menus and gauges. takes time to get used to
・After the middle stage when the number of items in possession increases, a bug that makes it impossible to buy and sell occurs frequently, and you are forced to play stressful.
・Despite the specification that data save is restricted, there are fatal bugs such as screen freezes, infinite loading, and terrain stacks.
・The performance of the perk that can be obtained by increasing the skill level is poorly balanced.

It’s an admirably ambitious and atmospheric game that sometimes sparkles like a diamond, but the PS4 version I played was so ridiculously underdeveloped I couldn’t believe someone had the nerve to publish it in such a disgraceful state. [04/2018, p.45]

Despite the volley of issues that'll be unique to your experience, committing to the universe that Warhorse has built in Kingdom Come: Deliverance still carries an ultimately rewarding feeling. I wonder how much more I'd enjoy it if it were a little smoother (fast travel is not fast), but the atmosphere doesn't shy away from the brutality of the era, how rugged life was centuries ago as well as the omnipresence of God in their everyday lives, from conversation to action.

A much more realistic take on the Elder Scrolls formula which will delight some fans of that series while frustrating others.
