While I probably enjoy Katana Kami more as a cultural work than a game, such as it is, that’s so much more important to me anyway.

You basically grind the same dungeons over and over for some errands and money. The menu system is horrible the same goes to smithing system. Katana Kami is not especially bad but it is neither good or motivating either.

I bought this game on a sale and uninstalled it after some hours of grinding that felt pretty pointless. I had the feeling beforehand that this game would not be worth it but still wanted to give it a try. I do not recommend buying this game, not even on a sale. There is just not enough of substance behind it and for the regular price it is actually somewhat disgusting for the content it provides. Not really sure how people can give this game a 9 or 10 score when there are literally stunning triple A titles on the market for half the price this title costs. The graphics are looking also pretty outdated. The combat system has potential, the monster design is not too bad either but the game play loop is just boring as hell.

Game is great my only complaints are the menu system and multiplayer system. I wish the game had 4 player co OP samurai dungeon crawling.

The characters and your interactions with them are quirky and funny. It leaves you wanting to revisit the series if you're a fan.

Personally, I love this game. There's a lot of heart put into this game and it allows you to see how your actions impact the world around you. Newcomers to the series might be put off by its weirdness but fans of the series will love it. It has a lot in common with the Souls genre as well, so if you like challenges, you'll enjoy this game. For fans awaiting a potential way of the samurai 5, this is a good game to play in the meantime.
