    It's good for what it is - a random playground where you blow stuff up. Better title for it would have been "Just Because 3", as the meat of the game is destruction and doing random things in a sandbox "just because".

    However, if you're looking for a game of substance, this isn't the one for you.     This title is as mindless as it gets - the AI is downright stupid, your character is a bullet sponge who can't die unless you really try and the open world itself never feels anything approaching real (more akin to Saints Row than GTA here) - but all that is a good thing if you're looking for a title you can pick up and play for an hour, wind down and have a blast with, because sending a deer flying off a cliff with a slingshot rope is bizarrely therapeutic!    … Expand

    Breakdown:
    Gameplay: 8/10. The grapple, parachute, wingsuit combination is INSANELY FUN, especially with upgrades. Add to that airplanes, fighter jets, helicopters, boats, cars, and motorbikes, you have many options and travelling around the world is very enjoyable. This game has some sandbox elements that lend themselves to some hilarious moments, and makes for a good pass-the-controller game with friends. That said, the motorbikes have terrible handling, like not even fun. Also, there aren't as many options as in JC2, notably jetboats with guns on them. It also seems strange that there is no underwater locomotion beyond basic swimming, since underwater is beautiful. A submersible vehicle or diver propulsion vehicle would have been fun. The camera gets a little janky here and it's mostly well executed.

    Missions/Activities: 3/10. While there are a few progression missions, they mostly just boil down to annoying escort/protection missions. The open world encounters are mostly pointless and are often broken, in fact they are such a mess they should have been cut from the game. There are also "Daredevil jumps" which are terribly half-assed in their execution, no clear indication of what you need to do and a complete lack of failure/success states (I'm guessing their inclusion was forced by world artists and game design ran out of time to polish the experience). That said, the challenges (races, wingsuit runs, etc.) are really really fun, well though out, rewarding, and polished.

    Presentation: 8/10. This world is gorgeous and colorful and compliments the locomotion mechanics really well. The explosions are very cool, not the best I've seen but still prove rewarding. The character models aren't the best, but they suit the overall style and tone well enough. The music is really good, though also very repetitive. The dialogue quality is mostly fine, but there are moments where important dialogue gets lost in the mix. The sound effects are good though not spectacular. The UI is simple, clean, and easy to navigate.

    Metagame: 4/10. I really liked unlocking upgraded by completing challenges, it gives them a reason to be completed, and it helps that the challenges are fun. Clearing settlements, provinces, and regions is fun but very repetitive (which wasn't really bad for me personally, but may bore other players). Unlocking priests/churches as cooldown areas feels like a really pointless mechanic. It was strange that there are less main missions than there are provinces and the method of unlocking missions felt inconsistent. I wish missions were more dependent on clearing provinces since at the end of the game I still had settlements left to liberate, which seemed out of context from the story. The reward progression is fine, but there are some really good vehicles and weapons which are unlocked before less good ones. The thing that really bothers me is that there is no "New Game +" option (pretty standard these days) when completing the game, allowing you to start at the beginning with all your previous unlocks and upgrades intact. To be fair, you can "re-oppress" settlements, but you can only do this one at a time and are forced to fast travel each time, which involves a 30 second load. It's weird that there is not method to re-oppress bases in bulk because the current method is very time consuming.

    Narrative: 5/10. Mostly harmless. The main character, Rico, is less interesting than in previous versions. He used to be a bad-ass anti-hero, but now he's a more suave and macho nice guy. I always assumed he was Mexican, but it this game he's more of a generic European gentleman. He used to be more like Batman, now he feels like Superman. The supporting characters are fine, but the most interesting character is Dimah, the scientist who crafts all of Rico's gadgets. She's really the only character with an arc. Aside from Dimah's part, the overall story felt rushed and shallow, with an ending that felt abrupt. To be fair, there is more to the story which you can discover by collecting audiotapes, but it's also where the real meat of the story is in terms of what motivates Rico and the sole antagonist DiRavello.

    Online: 0/10. A complete broken mess. The game will often stall trying to connect to a server, even after you select offline mode. The online leaderboards do not work at all beyond people on your friends list, which is a shame because the challenges are so fun. It would have been better to cut online completely since it does more harm than good in the game. Also, this game screams for coop, but to be fair it isn't really something other open world games have figured out how to do well either.    … Expand

The game is undeniably fun to play, it's very entertaining flying around enemy bases and blowing up everything you see.     I'm disappointed, I don't expect much about this game. It's supposed to be a bat **** crazy fun game and it was but the developers straight up lied. There is no customization on cars or weapons. It does not "feature 80+ cars" in the game. The map is not 400 square miles making it "The biggest map ever to be made for a game" and there is no multiplayer.     It's still a fun bat **** insane game with a fun open world sandbox destruction orgy. But Saints Row 4 made a game where you could do insane awesome stuff but they fleshed it out with a big story mode, customization, tons of unlockables and they also made a better open world experience. Allowing you to play custom music while going around destroying things, having tons of little and big things to do in open world. So yeah this just doesn't compare to that.    … Expand

    Positives;
    Its Just Cause. If you want a ridiculous game with very few rules and even fewer ways to enforce them then look no further. As is series tradition the game allows truly crazy and awesome stunts from placing mines on a moving plane, jumping from it and swinging it into a petrol station for an enormous explosion to turning a vehicle into a battering ram bringing down enormous structured whilst dragging a cow from the tow bar. If you can think of something to do with the mechanics, chances are it's possible and in that respect the game has a great deal of freedom not arbitrarily imposing restrictions. The gunplay, aiming, movement and fluidity of controls is excellent as perhaps should be expected though for stupid people like myself, some of the controls can get confusing by their similarity. As open world sandboxes go, its well designed and has plenty to do which isn't restrained by a fantastic movement system which allows traversal of the map in minutes despite its considerable size.
    The artistic choices are next, plain red for bad, blue for good however there are a lot of nice visual touches that really add to the game and it is highly appealing in its style. Having allies tag along is worthwhile for the extra chaos they add to the situation (unlike many other games where they become a frustration). Having them detonate a fuel tanker unexpectedly sending you spiralling across the base watching the war unfold below is just cause to a tee. The high health makes these mistakes add to the situation rather than become annoyances. Plus points for having tag alongs be enjoyable.
    The amount of content itself is good and despite being the typical pointless disconnected nonsense, the levity of dialogue is enjoyable. This comedic element extends to the story and characters who are so over the top and genuinely amusing at times that they have infinitely more personality than perhaps could be expected and unusually this blends perfectly with the actual gameplay.
    Finally the upgrades system is well implemented with points systems allowing progression through skill trees thus rewarding perks by skill which is an intriguing system.

    Negatives
    Too limited in weapon choice. There are few choices available and you'll quickly have experienced every weapon in the game.
    Story is weak both in telling and missions. If its not protect someone or something with a health bar its basically an open world activity again. There is no significant plot, no wow moments of spectacle or events that exceed the main game for the most part. In such a ridiculous game, a logical step would be to have a hundreds NPC strong battle with many rocket launchers, tanks and helicopters between them, the whole campaign is spent waiting for a payoff or crescendo of chaos which never comes. There is no proper development and no craziness substituted to make up for it, merely moments that remind you of the lost potential particularly as many missions are hoping and praying an NPC driver wont crash into a tree and freeze there until they inevitably get killed forcing a mission restart. Its a classic dictator v rebel story but doesn't seem to have the energy or effort to live up to the expectations it sets implicitly.
    The open world is very similar to everything ever. grab bag of pointless and random quests with outposts to liberate, all in samey - albeit with a far lesser decline in fun value - fashion that does limit what time can be put into a single session.

    TL:DR/Conclusion
    A solid base of good gameplay mechanics and fun let down in part by over similarity of concept as well as a lack of effort or wasted potential in the story missions both in terms of story and content.    … Expand

    At first glance, Just Cause 3 is MY type of game: an outrageously crazy game with outrageous fun. After all, I play games to have FUN. It's good to play truly amazing games like The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 5, and so on, but a game like this is the reason gaming exists. Sadly, though, I have discovered outrageous crazyiness and fun is not what makes a game great when that is the onlyAt first glance, Just Cause 3 is MY type of game: an outrageously crazy game with outrageous fun. After all, I play games to have FUN. It's good to play truly amazing games like The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid 5, and so on, but a game like this is the reason gaming exists. Sadly, though, I have discovered outrageous crazyiness and fun is not what makes a game great when that is the only thing it offers that is awesome. I have uncovered that with Just Cause 3. JC3 is undoubtedly a fun experience pretty much all the time, but it's deeply flawed. From technical problems to repetitive, shallow, and lazy mechanics, I would not dare call JC3 a great game. When the fun madness of the destruction is there, though, JC3 is a very good time indeed.

    Campaign + Story
    JC3 has a simple story of trying to overthrow a cruel dictator. It doesn't evolve into anything more than that, and it pretty much goes along just as you'd expect. Personally, I didn't have a problem with this 'cause I wasn't expecting or wanting anything more with a game like this. What I did have a problem with, though, was the storytelling for the missions and the storytelling itself. I never felt like the missions I went out to do had any real good reasoning. The way the story is told is also pretty lazy and slightly confusing. In terms of how the missions are with quality (with what you do and how they play and go), they're on par. Thankfully, I found the story missions to be quite different than all the other side stuff there is, but that doesn't mean the story missions weren't fairly generic at times.

    Open World + Other Mechanics
    Most of your open world activities in Just Cause 3 will be spent liberating towns and obliterating army bases. In those 2 activities, the awesome destruction is there to let you have a lot of fun (I'll touch on that in the next segment). Does this get repetitive? Yes. Yes they do, but it's where the most fun of the game is found. The other portion of the open world activities come in your typical and average challenges that grant you gears that unlock mods. They can pretty damn fun. The mods in the game of course modify your current weapons and other many tools. However, I found most of these mods to be pretty useless for the most part. In the open world, you can get around with planes, jets, helicopters, boats, cars, motorcycles, and one other special mobility system that I will talk about very shortly (hint: it's absolutely AMAZING). The driving feels good, except for the driving for the planes, jets, and motorcycles. The special mobility system is a combination of the grappling hook, parachute, and wingsuit. Sounds awesome, doesn't it? Well, IT IS! It's a barrel o' fun all the time and almost never gets old. I will say that it did take a little getting used to, but once I gained a skill for it, I loved every second of it. It's my favorite and the best part of the game.

    Crazy Destruction + Combat
    This is the part that makes Just Cause Just Cause. How is it in number 3? Very fun indeed and there's even more room here to get creative and just see complete awesomeness. The addition of tethers here let's you get creative by chaining up all these objects and then pulling and then seeing them all come piling down. I can't deny the physics here are great to experiment and have fun with. You can also blow stuff up with launchers, grenades, and C4. That too is big fun. There's also human enemies to kill, but there weren't many options for taking them down except for just shooting them up. Undoubtedly, the destruction is one of the best parts of this game.

    Graphics and...TECHNICAL PROBLEMS >:(
    JC3 is a very pretty game. The locations aren't very varied by any means, but you will almost always be looking at a great looking game. There isn't much to say about the graphics, as you can see, but I must talk in detail about the major technical problems this game has. It's incredibly disheartening. No, there isn't a major amount of glitches--in fact, that's FAR from the problem. JC3 has a gigantic amount of long loading screens (it's obvious Avalanche Studios released the game in a sorry-ass condition). The other problem is how much the game annoys you by trying to be always online (the game has a pretty in-depth leaderboard system). Even when I went to offline mode, it tried to go online all the time because--well I don't know! I guess it just wanted to! These technical problems bugged me to no end.

    Conclusion
    JC3 doesn't deserve to be in the cheap bargain bin after about 6 months or so. It's not nearly THAT bad. However, this game is proof to everybody and to me especially that outrageous craziness and outrageous fun is not what makes a game great. Many other valuable things go into making a game great (again, an example for 2015 is TW3 and MGS 5).

    End/side note: A game that combined true gaming greatness and outrageous craziness and fun flawlessly was Sunset Overdrive. I loved it so much and it was my favorite game of 2014! :D    … Expand

Case in point: you're disrupting a power facility, but it took me 5 minutes to figure out what to destroy, even though the items were on the (abysmal) map/"go here" interface.     Just Cause 4 was my introduction to Avalanche Studios open world explode-athon series and after finishing it I felt somewhat obligated to play Just Cause 3. What immediately surprised me was that Just Cause 3's graphics were better - which didn't make a whole lot of sense because sequels are meant to have better graphics than the games that came before them.

    On the gameplay front JC3 is    Just Cause 4 was my introduction to Avalanche Studios open world explode-athon series and after finishing it I felt somewhat obligated to play Just Cause 3. What immediately surprised me was that Just Cause 3's graphics were better - which didn't make a whole lot of sense because sequels are meant to have better graphics than the games that came before them.

    On the gameplay front JC3 is the definition of a mixed bag: It's destruction physics are somewhat impressive and you're incentivised to blow a lot of stuff up, but that's about it when it comes to variety. JC3's world looks interesting, but is ultimately bland and not much fun to explore. Locations in the world also feel copy-and-pasted and are merely places where you blow up all the conveniently red labelled objects that require destroying so you can 'liberate' that area. Unfortunately JC3 leans too heavily on dotting its map with hundreds of locations that have similarly repetitive objectives, making its world feel hollow and generic. What really contributes to this hollow feeling is that NPC's are virtually mindless inhabitants who simply occupy places so that way you don't feel lonely when exploring or discovering new towns.

    The story is also laughably bad (though not as bad as JC4 which just felt downright aimless and trivial). Rico Rodriguez is just terrible - his only means of strategy is to simply 'blow stuff up' and 'shoot his way to victory' all the while defying the laws of physics and reality through sheer dumb luck and shoddy writing. The supporting cast of characters is also no better, proving to be even more questionable than the main protagonist. The mission objective design is also annoying and archaic, and more often than not I would have to rely on pure luck to complete a mission because of how poorly the missions were written and implemented. This made getting through the main campaign feel like a chore instead of a fun explosion filled extravaganza.

    Combat is the only thing worth caring about in JC3 and even that comes with some serious caveats. Shooting feels stiff and imprecise, and most weapons feel underpowered. Another frustration comes from the fact that reinforcements just keep spawning endlessly, meaning that defeat comes from simply being overwhelmed (which is always a cheap tactic in my view).

    I spent roughly 10 hours with Just Cause 3 before deciding to call it quits. Even though I had plenty of things left to do, I couldn't be bothered doing all of them as I would have simply been repeating the same things that I had done in those 10 hours and nothing more. The truth is that real fun occurs when there are a variety of interesting, compelling and entertaining activities available to partake in instead of simply dressing up duplicates of the same activity so the only level of distinction is merely based upon their appearance.    … Expand

    Story is just meh and I didn't really care for it. Great graphics and very fun gameplay. HOWEVER, I have run into a lot of frame rate issues with the PS4 version and loading times which have been trimmed down from the update but still, to restart a challenge takes a while.

    Same sandbox-style as JC2, some characters have different voice actors which is a little disappointing and the performance issues are there. The world itself is massive but the landscape is repetitive unlike JC2 which was many different landscapes.     Just Cause 3 is an absolute blast to play, and some of the scenery is impressive, and the gunplay is solid,too. But everything else fails miserably. The main story is as interesting as a brick wall, and the side quests get very repetitive after a while. Overall, JC3 is a decent game, but nothing special.

It also has some cool new tricks up its sleeve like the wing suit and pulling two things into each other with tethers.     If you are feeling lazy and just want to have a good time and blow stuff up, that this is the game for you my friend. A boring main character and a uninteresting main story are the price to pay for a really fun shooter.

    I really wanted to give this game an 8 or 9 but could not for the following reasons:

I did 1 mission in the first 2 days, i was sidetracked by flying jets and choppers around, and tethering everyone and thing to all else. Surprised i haven't grown tired of it on day 4.

    *Errors in the middle of playing where game has to shut down

    *Corrupt save files (thankfully it had saved a backup a few minutes before)

    *Glitchy AI, they will just stand behind you and not shoot when in full alert mode, some do this weird a$$ avoidance dance (some of you know exactly what I'm talking about)

    On the plus side the landscape is beautiful and there is lots of tomfoolery and shenanigans to get into. If you're creative, it's limitless. The wing suit, grappling system and parachute are amazing. I've spent more time just flying around than anything else so far. The explosions are simply amazing. Rico is slightly overpowered to where it keeps the game interesting and still challenging at times.

    Despite the negatives, I definitely recommend it for your library.    … Expand

    Eh, not bad at all, but something definitely seems to be missing with this game. The game play and explosions are better than before, but the map has far less locations than the last game making the map feel rather empty and lifeless. The character feels like a generic military buff this time around with the voice to match. If you can't be bothered to do these side activities (I don't blame you if you don't) then you will be using the same few moves throughout the game. Also, why did they take out he whip meele move and replaced it with this lame shoulder push. Visually, this game shines and is probably one of the best looking games of this generation so far with a detailed map and a very well done view distance. Overall, get it on sale.… Expand

    While the missions and story of this game leave a lot to be desired, the open world and toolkit that they player is given right from the start just about makes up for it. The only problem here is that the gameplay, despite being fun, is so shallow that it won't hold your interest for very long and you will soon look elsewhere for a game with more bite.

Nothing to think about too much. Beside the massive amount of really ugly video fade-outs and the unnecessary loading times the controls could have been a little bit more intuitive. But I can't. Because while it is fun to do that, the game (an open world game, mind you), has paradoxically has both a lot of side quests, yet has no fun content that is repeatable.

    To do    Oh how I wanted to give a 9 or 10. It was always a great amount of fun to tether a tank to a wall, and then watch at what people at Bethesda call 'a simple fact of games' as it pings into space. But I can't. Because while it is fun to do that, the game (an open world game, mind you), has paradoxically has both a lot of side quests, yet has no fun content that is repeatable.

    To do story missions, you claim territory to weaken the enemy, because no writer has put the time in to actually coming up with another way of why you should be doing this. To claim territory, you blow stuff up, which is a step up from every other game's 'Kill all enemies', but in doing this, you gain side missions you can go on to upgrade vehicles (Sea race to upgrade sea vehicles, air race to upgrade planes, etc.), and sometimes get a military vehicle, like a tank, for doing something special. And then the area's done. No use now except for collectibles for 100% completion. (Note, one side mission is fun, and that is Bomb Blast, which forces you to drive fast and is the one I will mention because utterly contrived crap that took someone five minutes to come up with. It should be the one instead of Car Races.)

    Now here's the problem. These bases don't respawn, rebuild, whatever. So once you destroyed it, it's done. No more destructible terrain, minus respawning gas stations that no one really cares about, because it doesn't break into a whole GTA style wanted chase if you do. Maybe four guys chase you. Maybe they don't. So late in the game, when you're destroying practically identical Bavarium mines, you look at your inventory and see all these tanks and stuff you could drop in. But it's much easier to just wing suit over the place, raining bullets, especially when they can easily blow up your planes with SAMs.

    Too many times I found myself looking for that last item in a base, trying to find a fuel tank behind one of the buildings in an area the size of a suburban town, enemies firing at all angles. There's no penalty from death, minus a quick wing suit into combat with weapons fully loaded and no wanted level.

    And there's the problem. There is no catharsis. The wing suit that was so hyped loses it's appeal, any mode of transport loses it's appeal because either you get shot out of the sky by SAM's or it's incredibly hard to navigate, or it's too slow. Of the 5 or so boats, the Pescapada is the fastest. And the second most common. Yeah, you get tanks and stuff, but all that's useless besides side missions summing up to 'go through hoops in time', and at least those gave you something interesting, because all the stuff you might use it on is now blown up because you had to blow it up to get the tanks. It's a Catch-22. The story is lack luster (24 missions, about 15 are escort (shrivels)), the characters are shallow, and while the villain is straight from the depths of evil, I know better ones that would suit this game's crazy antics. Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2 and Pagan Min from Far Cry would make for a great antagonists, because you knew them other than 'military dictator who's evil and runs a nation'.

    If I'm going to harp on this game some more, which I will, I guess I'll turn to the side missions. Random events are crummy, they're Copy-Pasted from Far Cry 4, and give you flares, which give you the ability to fast travel. That's right, now you don't even have to explore anymore, we'll give you a way to avoid all the tedium that makes up the bulk of our game's enjoyment! Not only does the game give you flares like their cursed after liberating every town, they respawn in those towns. To move past that, right before the game's final boss, after you blown up every enemy unit this side of Sweden, and face this massive battle where you fight for control of the main island (which is one of the parts I liked), only then does the game give you the best weapon it has to offer, a Bavarium nuke launcher. I'm not kidding. This is Resident Evil.

    But unlike the rocket launcher in Resident Evil, this does about a sixth of the bosses health during the one second gap when his shield is down, and if you hit him when his shield is up, then you might as well be using a slingshot. At least that can carry more ammo. I defeated him with a single tether, before the game gave me a helicopter that meant absolutely FA to me.

    To end, you die too fast to create the stuff the game trademarks itself on, and you just use the boring stuff that works. Fun at the start, when you are basically a god, but tedium starts to dull the experience.    … Expand

Basically the game consists of main quests, side quests, and taking bases. You'll need to take bases to advance the story. The first couple of bases are awesome as you goggle at the explosions and watch your explosives go to work, but then it becomes repetitive as being creative is impossible as the super aggressive AI works all too well on you. There will be red screens. There will be grinding. All I ever used was a RPG, and occasionally the plantable explosives on big objects. But over all of this, the idea of how you take bases is absolutely ridiculous. Blow the crap out of everything and then the dictator loses the place. What? How does that help the resource starved rebels? Now onto the best parts of the game. The graphics are phenomenal. I've never felt more in paradise in a video game. The explosion effects are awesome too, with pieces of metal flying through the air, and crushing Di Ravello's puny militia troops. I've never had more fun strapping explosives that push things(booster explosives) onto cows and watching them fly through the air in awe. It almost brought tears to my ash caked eyes. The game is extra fun when you're just jacking around, blowing up cars and cows, and testing how far you can free fall. Also, travelling with the combination of wingsuit, grapple, and parachute makes long distances a 'distant' memory.
    Overall, Just Cause 3 is great for what it is, but it lacks anything else. If you love explosions, strap right in to your car coated in plastic explosive, and enjoy blowing everything to pieces.    … Expand

    So, Just Cause 3 is a game all about explosion, blowing things up, destroying a random dictatorship, while getting chaos points and money to unlock more items and missions. The "plot" is pretty much non-existent, but the game does offer us better dialogue and voice acting for the characters. While I still miss Antonio Banderas Rico from JC2, this Rico still delivers.

    The gameplay; Blow s**t up.... The game doesn't care how you do it, just blow s**t up. The gameplay does see some minor improvements over JC2. Vehicles across the board handle better. More tools are given to the players. E.g. Boost Rockets that blow up. More freedom in how to use the grappling hook. The freaking wingsuit.

    JC3's biggest problem is definitely the performance. The graphics look sublime. The world is huge and is full of color. But the framerate can get quite a few hits, sometimes with extended periods of 25 FPS. The loading times are also a pain. Before the patch the game would sometimes take a full minute to load. Even longer when playing the game for an extended period of time.

    The patch did fix some loading issues, but they are still too long.

    The mission structures and design also need some work. It's a mixed bag of fun missions and run-of-the-mill missions. I wished that Avalanche mostly improved on this aspect, given that it was one JC2's weaker aspects.

    Just like it's predecessor Just Cause 3 is a fun game, albeit with more technical issues that hamper the overall enjoyment.    … Expand

    A cool blimp club.
    Ski lifts/resort

    Varied environments (desert, snow, jungle, mangrove forests, grasslands, forest)
    Beach resorts
    Different architecture. Buildings from Nepal/Himalayan, Borneo, Middle Eastern, Malaysian/Indonesian, plus modern cities.

    I was expecting JC3 to be similar but in a Mediterranean environment. There’s so much potential and variation in that region I’m surprised that everything looks EXACTLY the same everywhere. You could have Spain, Greece, Croatia, Egyptian/N. Africa/Morocco, Israel, Turkey type areas.

    There’s nothing to do once you’ve liberated the bases and towns. Nothing to explore.

They gave this game a solid try so I'm happy with that. A lot of the faults in the game comes simply down to Square Enix playing trail and error. The wingsuit is a good example: You see the map was designed for distance for the wingsuit to glide from one side to the other whereas JC2's map was designed for the parachute which hasn't been toned down in this game but rather ignored. Because of how much the parachute was used in JC2 they assumed that adding another traveling mechanic in the same fashion would add brownie points but it sort feels weird. The parachute was designed so we can travel vast distances and climb with ease whilst soaking in the environment however the wingsuit fires you past the environment that you don't really get a chance to stop and look at it.
    The other mechanics have the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude which is fine but the game suffers from it. Without some attempt at improvement a sequel will fall not matter how good its new mechanics are. Fallout is a good example of this as the reason why I gave that game more praise then what it deserves is because there was at least some attempt to improve mechanics. Keeping the old ones and not touching them up makes any sequel feel more like a late expansion rather than a feature length game.
    Good try guys! Your heart was in the right place but without some form of improvement on the next entry to this franchise then I'm afraid it may die.    … Expand

However the game can get repetetive very fast such as liberating every base and town. And don't get me **** started on those **** MOTORBIKES! They are completely uncontrollable and feels like you are driving on a **** ice rink, it is by far the worst vehicle I have ever had to control in any video game I have played period! avoid motorbikes like the **** plague in this game as they are completely broken! But the game overall is extremely fun and if you like blowing stuff up and enjoy open world games. Then this is a must buy for you.… Expand

The draw distance is fantastic, as you can see glimpses of settlements and military bases from way off in the distance. Anything you can see you can go to. Once you're at one of these settlements, the choice is yours as to how you goJust Cause 3 is the ultimate sandbox game for sandbox game fans. Once you're at one of these settlements, the choice is yours as to how you go about bringing down the enemy encampments. You can sneak around, using your mystical grappling tether to pull objects down. You can quickly dart from object to object, planting explosives as you go. You can hijack a helicopter or tank and laugh at the puny reinforcements who try and stop you afterwards as you mow down everything in your path. I personally found the planted explosives route the best, as you have unlimited amounts of them from the start of the game and almost every object can be destroyed with 1 or 2 bombs planted on them.

    Unfortunately the game's biggest strength is also it's biggest weakness. The framerate begins to chug as soon as the explosions start, and the more simultaneous explosions you set off the lower the framerate will dip. The game is a wonder to look at, make no mistake, but the beauty is only skin deep. The flaws become apparent when you look closer.

    Just Cause 3 gives you a multitude of options to traverse it's gigantic map. You have your trusty grappling hook, unlimited parachutes, and a wingsuit all at your disposal. The game also gives you cars, motorcycles, boats, jets, and helicopters for you to travel with if you so choose. Unfortunately most of the vehicles handle terribly, with the motorcycles being the biggest offender. There's always a delay when attempting a turn, so it's all too common to run off road or into other objects. Fortunately however, the grapple/parachute/wingsuit combo is so efficient at quickly moving across the map, you literally never need to hop in a car or bike unless the game forces you to for a mission. The quickest, most efficient, and downright funniest way to stop Rico when he's wingsuiting is to simply crash headfirst into the nearest wall and watch Rico ragdoll, holding his head while he contemplates how many brain cells he just lost. The ragdolling becomes far less humorous however when you are in a firefight and get hit with an explosion. Rico will then lie on his fat ass for about 5 seconds thinking about pudding, while 1000 enemies take potshots at him.

    The game does have a story, but it's paper thin and basically an excuse to blow more stuff up, often stuff that you can't otherwise access. There are also random encounters throughout the game that have you do all sorts of activities ranging from freeing a rebel who's been taken hostage and fighting off his kidnappers to... opening a locked gate. Yes, seriously. The most interesting part of the story comes at the end of the game as you realize just who Rico Rodriguez really is. You've been told all along that he's fighting for the freedom of Medici, to pry the country from the clutches of the evil dictator Di Ravello and to push out all his military encampments. Yet as you supposedly free more and more areas you realize that nothing has really changed. All the armored vehicles, the armed guards, the watch towers, they're all still there just with a different logo on them. Rico will kill fellow rebels and civilians without any remorse if they're in the way of his goal. You slowly begin to realize that Rico is actually just another dictator with the same lust for power as Di Ravello.

    Just Cause 3 takes sandbox games to a whole nother level. The map is gigantic, is fun to traverse, and is filled to the brim with things to blow up and enemies to take down. Just don't go in expecting much more than that, and pretend that the framerate dips are really just the game going into slow motion to highlight the cool explosions, and you'll come out of the experience with all smiles.    … Expand

    I had constant crashes while playing this on PS4 but it is still a fun game. It can become repetitive after a while but I think so are 99% of games that are out there.

The shooting is pretty solid and the weapons are mostly diverse. The story is pretty simple but interesting but the tone is lighthearted and fun with great characters. However where this game fails is its repetitiveness. The map really does not have much variety after a while and you experience everything. The story falls apart and the missions start repeating itself. Its a deeply flawed game but a lot of fun. Recommended.… Expand

    Open World (sotto la media) immenso. Titolo non troppo curato ma che sa regalare momenti unici al giocatore grazie alle svariate possibilità che offre. Longevità e divertimento top. La mancanza dell'online (magari in stile Gta) o quanto meno della co-op ne abbassa notevolmente la mia valutazione insieme alla passività dei nemici, ad alcuni aspetti della trama e del gameplay

    The characters and dialogue are good, but at times they push themselves a little too hard to be funny. The conversations then come across as almost kitschy.

    Medici (Italy) is a beautiful setting, I liked that a lot. Unfortunately is not very long, i finished it in +-15 hours.

    Overall this game was a nice diversion, however I wouldn't play it again.

    La verdad es que es un buen mundo abierto pero está todo muy vacío, casi sin coches o personas. Otro punto negativo es la repetición de misiones, ya que prácticamente haces lo mismo una y otra vez para liberar zonas. Aún así, la jugabilidad está tan pulida que se olvida todo esto y me he pasado tardes enteras jugando sin darme cuenta de la hora que era.

    Es un buen juego, tiene sus carencias pero es bastante divertido. Puedes explotar absolutamente todo lo que se te ocurra y no suele bajar mucho el rendimiento del juego en cuanto a fps. La historia es interesante. Lo peor: el sistema de apuntado sin duda y el jefe final muy decepcionante. Lo mejor: la movilidad con los distintos vehículos y objetos por el inmenso mapa. 6,8/10

    This may be a great game. But after they actually finish it. Action, destruction, physics are really fun. I would compare this game to the Saints Row 4. You are ovepowered hero in fun sandbox world. But... the game needs polishing. There are crazy loading, that takes minutes. (and sometimes all this loading will do is set a wehicle next to you and show a waypoints). I estimate that I spentThis may be a great game. But after they actually finish it. This is runing the gameplay ,because shootingenemies feels meaningless. And then are are lots of randoms small bugs (levitating npscs, etc). I can say, that when I way playing I have tremendous fun. The problem is, that the game did not let me play as much as I wanted and kept interupting with looooong looooadings. Once this is fixed, I will recomend this game.     I just CANNOT stress this enough. It's mind-blowing that a challenge which is meant to be played repeatedly to improve your score and which only contains a TINY fraction of AN OPEN WORLD game and which you would think smart programmers would KEEP IN MEMORY takes a freaking minute to load. On many other occasions the loading times are very bad. I'm sorry , it looks    HORRID LOADING TIMES !!!

    Have to agree with people saying on here that the loading times destroy the game. It's true. Loading after each challenge means your waiting a lot in this game. JC2 was amazing this unfortunately isn't. Looks great when sun is shinning but when it dull it's ugly. Seems smaller too. 6 I'm afraid until fixed.

    This is a good game, don't get me wrong. But it could have been so much better. It could have been a lot, lot better.

    The graphics are great. The explosions are beautiful. The gameplay is great. The story is completely and utterly lacking, but somehow I don't mind that. But what I do mind is the progression system. The inclusion of Gear Mods in the game is a brilliant idea. The    This is a good game, don't get me wrong. But it could have been so much better. It could have been a lot, lot better.

    The graphics are great. The explosions are beautiful. The gameplay is great. The story is completely and utterly lacking, but somehow I don't mind that.

    But what I do mind is the progression system.

    The inclusion of Gear Mods in the game is a brilliant idea. The ability to get extra grappling hooks, have your C4 turn into rocket boosters and have things like nitrous and turbo jump are great. But what isn't great - in fact, what is awful about this system is how you unlock them.
    In Just Cause 2, challenges were optional. They were just a bit of fun to pass the time and earn money. But if you want to get the most out of Just Cause 3, and have the very most fun you can out of the game, you need to complete the challenges.
    Fair enough, you might say. Many games have similar systems. Challenges are rated by "gears" which act like a star rating depending on your performance. Again, fair enough.
    But it is impossible to get five gears without the mods on things like races.
    So to unlock the mods, you need to complete the challenges - and you can't get five gears in a challenge without using the mods. It has gone down the same road as Grand Theft Auto V did with the GTA Online racing - to unlock things to make your car go faster, you had to win races. But you could not win races without things to make your car go faster. The entire system is flawed.
    "So what?" you might ask, "You can just keep earning three gears in a race every time you do it."
    No. You can't. Once you have gained five gears from a race - replaying it will gain you nothing.
    Even to gain the ability to zoom on a weapon, you need to complete some of these challenges.
    They completely ruin the game. They restrict you in a game which prides itself on allowing you to be free. It is possible to complete all of the challenges... eventually. You unlock challenges by liberating towns and the like. So to unlock these mods, you need to do everything necessary to liberate a particular location, attempt the challenge - get perhaps three stars due to a lack of the gear mods - then go liberate another location, and find another challenge of the same type, and gain three stars again, liberate another location, etc.

    Speaking of unnecessary restrictions, there is the "Rebel Drop" system. While it is a welcome improvement over what Just Cause 2 had to offer - again, it is seriously flawed.
    Rebel Drops allow you to have a package dropped in by a plane. In said package, you can choose a one-handed weapon, a two-handed weapon, a "special" weapon (a rocket launcher, for example), and a vehicle of your choice (after you have unlocked them by taking cars to a garage in liberated towns - or by liberating military bases (which unlocks the better vehicles like fighter jets)). Sounds pretty cool, right?
    And most of the time, it is. But they have restricted it in two ways.
    The first is common sense. You need to collect beacons, which act as flares - so you can show the plane where to drop your package. You can carry up to one of these at a time, for a start, at least.
    The second way makes no sense at all. For example - in a very real situation - you find yourself stuck on the top of a mountain in the game, and realise you have no "Fast Travel Flares" left, and if you head in the direction you want to go - a military base will fire nukes at you, even after it has been liberated.
    So you use one of your beacons and call in a helicopter. But your Rebel Drop beacon lands in a slightly uneven location, and when the helicopter lands it slides away and crashes.
    If you were just limited in the first way, it would be no problem. After being able to carry more beacons (which is unlocked by completing challenges), you could just call in another one, right?
    No.
    Because you have to wait for above twenty minutes before your favourite helicopter to unlock again. Even with DLC vehicles, still above twenty minutes.
    And to half the time between the unlock time, you need to do challenges - and spend time unlocking gear mods - one to half the time for cars, one to half the time for air vehicles, and one to half the time for boats.
    You can eradicate the time completely - but that requires even more challenge grinding.

    I wanted to love this game so very much. Just Cause 2 remains one of my favourite games ever. While technically superior in every way, Just Cause 3 just doesn't work for me. I feel more restricted than I was in previous games, even though I am supposed to be less restricted with the abolishment of money (which was the system they used in Just Cause 2 to purchase vehicles from the black market in a similar way that Rebel Drops work).
    This game could have been so much better. It has good ideas, and it is very fun to play, but the flaws in the game are very prominent and very, very hard to ignore. And don't get me started on the online leaderboards.    … Expand

It was probably because it was so horrible it was funny. Nothing has changed here, and to me that is a good thing. I don't always need a hollywood story with no substance like the order or Ryse.

    It isn't perfect, but I have yet to encounter a bug on the ps4 version that crashed or had any effect on the game progression and the load times are no worse than fallout or any other game to be fair. And the way they give you a area to play as it installs was welcomed 100 times over. I was able to get used to the controls before ever starting the actual game. The graphics are not the best, but again neither was fallout 4... Battlefront looked amazing but it lacked anything that resembled the games that gave it the name.

    Reading some of the PC reviews had me worried. But I can honestly say this is one of the better games this year, for me anyway.

    *update* I have started to notice the drop in fps when the chaos starts to go big. At some points it has become very unstable almost freezing up. It nearly ruins the whole experience right now and if you have not picked up the game yet, I would wait for word that this gets fixed.

    That being said, I would've liked a little more variation in the landscape/settlements, as Just Cause 2 had. Nonetheless, the island is very vibrant and beautiful. Technical aspects wise, the load screens are a bit long, and the in-game map is very laggy.

The open world is large and beautiful but sadly repetitive. Every base is the same, every town is the same and every mission almost feel the same.     First we should consider how Just Cause 3 is not much of an upgrade from Just Cause 2. The graphics are better yes, but all current gen games look better than last gen games. The game does itself no favors by re-cycling not only buildings but also entire towns. Despite the power of the PS4, the destructible models remain limited to radar dishes, fuel tanks, and water towers. Some destroyed vehicles will split in two, like helicopters, and some destroyed vehicles are blacked out versions of the original, like all the other vehicles. Enemies have the same 360° binocular vision that they had in Just Cause 2. This time, however, if you manage to stay out of sight on a rooftop for 30 seconds they can't find you. A.I. in general is dumb. Enemies will bomb their own sites and shoot rockets at their own vehicles if you are in close proximity. It used to be that you could hijack a helicopter and wreak havoc. Now when you grapple onto a helicopter, all enemy units will destroy it within seconds. Enemy fire and explosions can be so intense that I often had no idea why I was dying.

    The story missions in Just Cause 3 are ok. You pal around with a guy who says "It's a me, Mario", a joke that was presented better in Assassin's Creed 2. Mario is not much of a revolutionary fighter, and everything is up to the player character to save the day. Most missions make use of hijacking vehicles and otherwise using your cable to stop vehicles, open doors, or reach high places like Spider-Man. Side note: there are tons of weapons in the game but I cannot see why I would use them when the cable, rocket launcher, and machine gun are so effective from the start. Further side note: why would I ever order a vehicle for delivery when the game is also littered with all kinds of vehicles. The mission structure at times seems broken. One missions tells you to grab a vehicle. I start heading to the nearest military base to grab a tank and the game tells me I am going to far away form the objective. Too far away? In an open world game? Heresy.

    The side missions in the game are little more than challenge modes. Sometimes challenges are fun like in Saints Row III. Sometimes they are a boring waste of time, as they are in Just Cause 3. One side mission has the player character drive a boat to explode-able objects, switch to the gunner seat, and then blow up the object from a stationary position. So fun. Last side note, finding all the objects you need to destroy can be a real fun killer. Speaking of fun killers, the game gives you three remotely triggered explosives. You cannot zip around town like Spider-Man, attach explosives to everything, and then destroy it all from safety. No, you can only destroy three things from safety and then you have to go back and attach explosives to three more things. The developers had no idea what makes this game fun.

    So all in all, Just Cause 3 is a pretty meh and repetitive experience. It's too bad because Just Cause 2 was one of my favorite games last gen. Just another uninspired sequel that is making the current generation one of the worst generations in gaming history.    … Expand

    Right now as this game is on the PS4 - i cannot in good conscience give it more than a 6. And lets go into why ina moment.

    Good stuff first - the game is a blast, pun intended. If you're looking for a game with mindless destruction and unique innovative ways to cause mayhem then this is right up your alley.     Tons of variety in vehicles, weapons etc... it feels just as good as the previous games in this regard. One annoyance is the lack of remapping keys or controls on the controller because it requires quite a steep learning curve. The story while largely throw away is funny at times as the characters almost know they're in a parody of sorts, some rather funny moments and dialog to be had.

    The game world is massive in scale, but as the old saying goes - size doesn't matter. It feels boring to be honest when all you have to do are random challenging, throw away missions and just blowing stuff up. Rpg this is not, so prepare yourself for that. I feel like it could have been smaller qnd mkre paded out.

    And onto why i cannot give it more than a 6 right now. Framerates and loading times. On ps4 thd frame rate constantly judders around and usually while doing not a whole lot, for examlle driving ALWAYS causes the framerate to drop, equally just swining the camera around does the same and intense exploding scenes causes it to falter further (hint:this is a lot because this is the game). This all causes massive lag in inputs which is very frustrating and jarring at times.

    Then theres the loading problems. I was doing an exploding vehicle challenge you find early on in the game, loaded it no issue and screwed it up so restarted it - i waited more than 4 minutes for this to reload, from a scene i was just in 30 seconds before. This is not isolated either, it has happened many tomes before and is simply poor.

    So. Taken without the issues this is an 8 for the sheer madness and fun factor. But right now, as it is i cannot give it anything more until /if the technical issues are resolved.    … Expand

But Just Cause 3 is just... missing something. I can't really narrow it down to one simple thing but what Just Cause 2 did right, Just Cause 3 does wrong. Voice acting is poor and cringey, the story tries to beI really wanted to love Just Cause 3. After all, Just Cause 2 is my favorite game of all time (second only to Red Dead Redemption) and Just Cause 1 was a fun game in its own right. But Just Cause 3 is just... missing something.     Was ok, I had a better gameplay exp in just cause 2 than 3. everything feels the same. few things added, the rest is copy/paste.

    Main story is just not good enough, but aside that enough things to do and to blow up. A good sand box game but maybe it's time to come with something else.

    The gun play mimics a mix between COD style combat and GTA combat. It kinda auto-locks and kinda doesn't. It is one of the worst shooting systems ever.

    There are plenty of glitches that will get you killed

    Vehicle controls are a 4/10. Not undoable just unresponsive and with terrible physics. Making it tough to learn.

    All in all there are some cool parts. The world is beautiful and HUGE. The stunt aspect and the destruction based gameplay is fun. But it can also be a glithy, repetitive mess of bad mechanics and strange design choices. Oh!- and the story/characters are terrible too.    … Expand

    I know this game came out a while ago, but I do not care. I will tell people what I thing of this game.

    -Explosions bring the game down to about 18 frames per second, which happens 80% of the time
    -They release DLC before fixing the actual game
    -So many glitches
    -The way you get mods is either boring, or unfair.
    -When firing with your grappling hook, you get stuck behind the smallest of things, like a rail, and then fall to the ground, while getting shot.
    -When connecting to helicopters, your grappling hook either does not want to connect, or does connect then cancels out randomly.
    -Story has not evolved. Its not a focus, i get that. But, I wish they tried something different.
    -Only 25 missions, and too many of those are dedicated to a simple mechanic. THERE IS AN ENTIRE MISSION WHERE ALL YOU DO, IS WATCH A CUTSCENE, GET THE ABILITY TO FAST TRAVEL, AND THEN MISSION OVER.
    -Also some lame mission here and there.
    -No upgrade system
    -There is a timer on getting weapon and vehicle deliveries, even though in the old games there was an unlimited amount of times.

    Overall, don't buy the game at full price, don't try to complete it, or buy Just Cause 2 instead. It lacks some of the features, but is much better than this game. Just Cause 3 feels like a step back. There are a lot of restrictions, even though the game is all about freedom.    … Expand

There is a lot to do, enough to keep you entertained for 50 or more hours and the game has a good replay value. Still, as I'm approaching the end of the story and beginning to take over the third (and the biggest) island, I can clearly see that by the time the credits roll in, I'll have finished most of what the game has to offer, which was definitely not the case with JC2, where I still had about 72% of the game's content to complete by the time I'd finished the story.

    It is no surprise that the story mode of Just Cause 3 is no Witcher, however it is very lacklustre and quite frankly, disappointing, considering how much of an improvement it was supposed to be according to the developers. It is not completely bad, but I feel like much more could have been done with it and that the missions themselves could have offered much more gameplay than they did.

    There is also the question of performance in this game, and while I understand that it's hard to keep a stable framerate while everything around the player is exploding, but I got stutters and heavy framerate drops even when nothing at all was happening. It wasn't a game-breaking problem for me, but I think that the random stutters need to be fixed ASAP.

    Despite its shortcomings, though, Just Cause 3 is still a great game if all you really want is to blow stuff up and hardly ever die, which I did. I had a great time playing so far, and I hope I will continue to.
    The only problem with the gameplay are the challenges and gears, which I think are far too restrictive. It would be much better if the gears won from challenges were usable for all gear mods, not specific ones based on the nature of the challenge. This is probably the most annoying part of Just Cause 3 for me.

    All in all, it's a good game, but rather a disappointment considering to what it could have been. If you're planning on buying it, definitely do, but not now. The game has issues such as the framerate that need to be fixed and isn't quite worth the full price.    … Expand

    First off, this game is technical DISASTER. So many long loading screens in from switching in game to cutscene like this ridiculous. Games on the ps3 didn't even have loading screens from in game to cutscene!! The game drops to 5FPS WHAT THE HELL!!! For a game that's basis is on action and many explosions this is just horrendous. Initially, the game shines - missions are interesting, there are a variety of new challenges and a few new features, but these quickly give way to outrageously difficult story missions and a painful fast travel and resupply system. I understand that the developers may have wanted to make the game a little more challenging than JC2, which simply allowed you to drop a helicopter or jet right in front of you at any time, but their new "beacon" system means you only get one resupply before having to traipse perhaps tens of kilometers back to the nearest city you liberated to get more. The real issue here is once the story progresses past the initial island grouping in which you find yourself, you end up on a large island that has about half the content but is more than three times the size - villages and military bases are anywhere from 5 to 30 kilometers away, and many mountain ranges block your way. Travel slows to a crawl and essentially requires you to use the very weak aforementioned beacon system to get a helicopter. And even then, you're in for several boring minutes of holding down the analog stick and simply flying to your next objective.

    Load times are much longer than they should be, and occasionally a loading gap will cause the game to inexplicably delete weapons from your loadout.

    Ultimately, the game is a lot of fun, and the old thrills of flying a jet into a satellite dish are satisfying. They are just fewer and farther between, literally.    … Expand

    Forget about the story, is pure **** so much **** will end skipping most of the cinematics and understand whats going on. If you are lucky to pick up the XL Edition for 30 bucks you will see    Just Cause Series is the Bollywood of the GTA series.

    This game has nice graphics and a great story line, but, I got bored playing It after 3 days. The gameplay is a little weird with the hook and the parachute. So if you want to have a little fun, destroying everything, It is the right game to play !

The game needed more Q n A and Polish as it's feels like it didn't have any which is a shame as it's great fun. From its multiple settlements, collectibles and challenges to plough through its got the content for hours of enjoyment, if not hindered by the many bugs and glitches.     At the very beginning the game might be likeable but after a while, you will realize that it is the same over and over again. As many of you, I have lots of games to play, so I decided to finnish this one quickly, so I didnt play many challenges and freed all regions. Went straight to the point.     The story is just a random epic win over the bad guys. So just meh...

    I missed some stealth options when it comes to free cities or other settlements. Gunfights are not fun, and most time is about running away to recover. There is no health bar and you have regeneration, which makes the game very easy. Driving is kind of boring.

    Finished it just to be caught up on JC4. It seems fun at first: Rambo meets Duke Nukem in a cheap eighties action-movie mashup and everything is blowable. But towards the end it's very-very repetitive and tedious.

    The game absolutely has its moments and the scale of the destruction can be amazing, but it feels inferior to its predecessor. Locations blur together much more, tools and weapons are more accessible but lack something. The formula just wears thin so much more quickly in this game compared to its predecessor. Grappling hook is amazing as always though, until the jetpack makes it irrelevant.

    Just Cause 3 is a homecoming story, with main character Rodriguez returning to his homeland of Medici, a fictional island country stuck under the foot of dictator Sebastiano Di Ravello. The story is a bit weak, but it’s straightforward enough. Rodriguez is trying to take down the dictator. That’s that.

    If you’ve stuck with the series this long, it’s expected, but if you’re looking for a plot-heavy open world adventure game, look somewhere else. For everything this game does well, it has something to offset that success. To start, the game’s Mediterranean setting looks absolutely stunning on current-generation consoles.

    The water is crystal clear, the planes and helicopters hum in the air and the hook has a satisfying snap to it. But for a game with plenty to see and hear, the missions are left empty and typical.

    The main story quests are a series of escort missions and liberations, with Rodriguez tasked with protecting his buddy Mario, picking up weapons and transportation for the rebels and lots of blowing stuff up.

    The latter is where Just Cause 3 really finds its strength, and players will find themselves distracted by side-quests, where they’ll just be liberating outposts by blowing specific things up. It’s great. But for all of the fun packed into the game, its load times and framerate drops are killers, and more than a few gamers will turn off the game in frustration as they wait three to five minutes between missions.

    Sure, long load times used to not be a valid excuse when it came to gaming, we were just happy to be immersed in a new world. But in 2015, when titles like Batman: Arkham Knight and Bloodborne can run without as much as a slight dip in performance, players are left wanting just a bit more from Just Cause 3.
    With so much else out there right now, it’s hard to recommend this title to those who haven’t already played the year’s usual suspects.

    This same studio even released a pretty solid Mad Max game earlier this year.

    If you want lots of explosions and you’ve got plenty of patience, then Just Cause 3 might just be worth your time.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the JC series since the original and I had high hopes for JC3 and I would have pre-ordered it myself if it wasn't for all the negative reviews, and to be honest - it really does warrent a negative and a not recommended review simply because of all the major bugs and issues which plague this otherwise *fun* game - My tip to Avalanche Studios is to go back and play JC2 and look what made that fun, then repeat the process because what you've done to JC3 clearly doesn't work. All you need to know is basically Just Cause 3....is just like Just Cause 2, just better graphics but all the fun sucked out of it and replaced with a dull, boring and vastly unfair gameplay that seemingly resembles a just cause game.

    The major problems is the fact the game does not play like the previous JC games, its more or less just an unfair and buggy shooter, the enemy AI is so badly programmed that its just sheer lazy - its got all the trademarks of just horrible programming, they'll shoot you with near 100% accuracy even flying at high speed with the wingsuit - they'll spawn behind you constantly and don't get me started about the helicopters and warships.

    Hijacking was one of the fun, and major elements to the previous games - thats been thrown completely out of the window and made USELESS here, try to hijack and enemy helicopter and 9 out of 10 times, it'll end in death as either the pilot will seamingly commit suicuide by flying into the ground or some other stupid method to kill you, or the "2nd" Helicopter will fire on the one your trying to hijack and again, often destroying it (and you) in the process - lets not forget, the enemies have a strange 90* degree firing arc for some stupid reason as well, because I've seen them facing one direction and rockets flying from them at an angle...go figure? Then, throw in enemy ships that are just insanely deadly into the mix..basically have to accept the fact they are going to kill you.

    The driving mechanics are sluggish, especially on motorcycles. The boats have issues too, especially with Rico walking at a snails pace onboard them. Even the trademark tethering system isn't without some issues, often causing either bugs or comical incidents.

    Avalanche removed many features that made Just Cause 2 a better game, such as the minimap - this was an important feature and you could actually see the enemies being rallied against you, so you had at least some time to mount a defence, or plan your attack better - this is just an unfair run and gun affair without any cover system, because frankly - the way the enemies have a near 100% accuracy against you...you need it. Having enemies literally spawn just out of view...nearly constantly ruins the immersion and really makes the gameplay needless more difficult and frustrating especially once your chain stunned by shotgun guys, or being bombarded by helicopter or tanks.

    Sadly put; If your interested in the Just Cause series, and never played any- Do yourself a favor and pick up Just Cause 2 sure, the graphics are obviously inferior, but the game is vastly better in all departments over this. This is basically almost a carbon copy just half as good as the previous game.

    Finally, this is just a disappointing game that needed alot of balancing and bug fixes which it never got, looking at the metacritic reviews and steam forum complaints really only re-inforced this negative review, I'm glad I only paid $20 for the XL edition because, honestly - to me thats about how much its worth. This game needs balancing to be good, enemy accuracy needs to be lowered, the heat needs to be slower to build - the spawn rate needs to be lowered, especially on helicopters and tanks, and they need to have a spawn rate thats alot further from the player inside of being 'behind' the player, so they can get essentially free hits on you.

    Extremely repetitive but fun. The graphics is gorgeous and realistic and even the water. I have had many hours just enjoying blowing stuff up like ammo crates, petrol staions and barrels and fun to grapple things and cause chaos and the wing suit is really good fun and is quite relaxing to go for a fly. The world is huge but it all looks the same and even the towns are based the same. IExtremely repetitive but fun. The graphics is gorgeous and realistic and even the water. I have had many hours just enjoying blowing stuff up like ammo crates, petrol staions and barrels and fun to grapple things and cause chaos and the wing suit is really good fun and is quite relaxing to go for a fly. The world is huge but it all looks the same and even the towns are based the same. I think its ok but just too much of a grind and a very uninteresting story. The driving handles horribly but with a bit of practice its a tad easier but still dreadful handling lol Id say POANTA (Play once and never touch again) .… Expand

    Game had great potential, and it looks gorgeous at time, but the sluggish mission which has to do with the main story is just right down awful. In a game where destruction is a virtue, the game literally forces you to be very careful, and with the AI being pretty dumb it will make for hours of repetitive gameplay (which kinda ruins the experience).

    I had a decent amount of fun for the first 5 or so hours of the game. But as the game continues it starts to show its repetitive nature. Plus the frame rate was just abysmal at times.

    Its incredibly repeditive, and the 60fps basic framerate drops severely whenever theres lots of explosions. The system 4.00 upgrade did improve the framerate heaps, but by then i had almost finished the game.

    Missions are completely blah, gameplay is identical to just cause 2, the freedom of movement you get with grapple / chute / wingsuit is still the best part of the game.

    The story is longer, sure, but it's nothing really substantial. They tried to make it more in-depth than 1 or 2, which is a misstep since we aren't here for the story. We're here to blow things up. The story isn't even that good, anyway.

    Speaking of blowing things up, the graphics and physics have been upgraded significantly at the cost of everything else. Sure, there are new ways to blow things up and cause havoc, but there are less things to blow up now. The shooting controls are wonky and garbage, too.

    The grappling hook got an upgrade, allowing you to pull two object together which is good for either slamming helicopters into the dirt or making a man realize his passionate and irresistible love for a brick wall, and you get a wingsuit now, which is probably the best addition to the game ever. Soaring around through the skies and low to the ground, using my grappling hook to pull myself along and propel myself at break-neck speeds straight into a wall is always lots of fun, and beats the hell out of the parachute grapple system in Just Cause 2. It just sucks that there's literally nothing to do with it.

    The in-game map is about half the size of Just Cause 2's, and with no variation. In Just Cause 2 you'd have suburbs, cities, swamps, marshes, grasslands, forests and jungles, tundras, mountains, deserts. Basically every biome you can think of. In Just Cause 3 you have farmland and... more farmland. That's actually the only thing you got. No different settings and no unique locations. Just Italian farmland and I guess one metropolitan area that's about a 6th the size of the one in Just Cause 2.

    Vehicles aren't that special, either. Helicopters, planes, cars, boats, whatever. Would it kill you to give me a submarine? This is literally the one thing sandbox games are missing now. I can't think of a single sandbox game with a submarine except for Mercenaries 2 where you'd drive a tank backwards and it'd let you drive it underwater. Also, I have no idea how they managed it, but they made motorcycles control even worse in this game. I didn't even think that was possible. There's a good half second delay between you turning and the thing actually turning, and it makes the things completely unusable.

    Getting rid of the annoying redneck black market guy was a good idea, since finally you don't need to listen to him blabber on about his opinions on foreign policy and how he really, REALLY likes Mexicans but thinks they're ruining the country, added with a cutscene of him arriving then leaving. That was appreciated, and the whole process is expedited by allowing you to select multiple items to drop at once, and there isn't a huge cutscene for it either. You just hit the menu, order what you want, throw a beacon and in seconds, BOOM, package delivered. It's even faster than Amazon Prime, which is great.

    Back to bashing it. DRM is a new innovative addition to Just Cause 3. The game requires you to connect to some stupid servers so you can constantly be harassed with in-game notifications telling you that XxStuPiDHackINGA**wiPE420blaZEitSniPERPwnEr69xX beat your score in who the god damn motherf*** even cares. You can't even turn them off, either. There's no option for it. You can try to start the game in offline mode, but get ready to stay signed off for your entire play session, because if you think you can sneak past it by logging back on after you start the game, think again. The game will actually stop you mid-game in order to connect to the servers, something that oftentimes doesn't even work, and even when it does it takes about 5 whole minutes to actually connect. Nobody asked for this. Not one person on this planet asked for this DRM bulls***, but they just crammed it in for no reason just to piss everyone off.

    Overall, however, the game is disappointing and lackluster, with none of the fun and glee of its predecessor, choosing instead to boldly innovate in the daring field of being more boring and homogeneous. It's tiring, monotonous, and will not keep you invested after the game's end. I can't even guarantee it'll keep you invested up to that point, either.

    I played this game, maybe even had fun with it while I did, but when I sat back down after the whole thing was over, I saw no reason to ever go back to it, and all its glaring faults cover up almost everything this game does right.    … Expand

    Yes, controlling the character is fun, but the game mostly revolves around freeing towns and provinces by destroying every object in it that promotes the dictator who is the main villain and/or his army. But guess what, every town is pretty much the same thing but the stuff you gotta blow up is positioned differently. Yes, it gets very repetitive very quickly.
    My little brother has been playing the game for hours and hours daily, freeing these towns and he isn't even halfway through the game. That is how long it drags on.

    The story missions are also pretty generic, mostly escort missions and time-limited fetch missions, the story is generic action movie stuff, the characters are pretty shallow. The map is insanely enormous but mostly empty with optional collectibles, but honestly, it's like looking for a marble in the desert.

    The framerate. OH BOY, THE FRAMERATE! I don't get why western developers force their games to look super realistic at the cost of framerate and proper running. The motion blur literally looks like someone is throwing sand in your eyes, and every time there's an explosion nearby the game just becomes a slow-motion laggy mess. And instead of fixing the actual game they spat out DLC. Gotta get that money, yo!

In the forest, you can now ride a car, unlike the 2 part of the game, where in the forest one minecraft and even a motorcycle could not ride.
    But I can be objective and think soberly.

    Awful optimization. Drop in frame rate. Brakes with a large number of objects (vehicles, corpses, weapons, etc.).
    The enemy’s intelligence has not changed since the second part of the game - stupid, taking in numbers and VERY accurate in shooting for turrets on ships.
    The enemy appears behind you suddenly when you call for reinforcements.
    Sometimes you drive a tank or a helicopter, your health is in order. And then bang, it’s unknown who kills you with 1 shot through the armor.
    As in the second part, pumping for show. And there are no modifiers for greater survivability. Only one to fall from a height. No armor, no health. You cannot feel yourself as a terminator.
    Flight control is inconvenient. But motorcycles are masochism - just horror motorcycle control.
    Replenishment of the air safety is possible only at your death or the start of the game. Weapon racks give ammunition only for what is in them. It is especially painful if you like to use sniper rifles. Mostly assault rifles and rockets with grenades.
    Trophies for platinum were made by sadists.
    The main plot is nonsense, as usual for this series.
    In the tasks, do everything yourself, the rebels will not lift a finger. When capturing the bases, the reinforcements of the rebels is a kindergarten - and open the gates for them, turn off the rockets, and raise the bridges ...
    Random assignments appeared (save the rebels, pour gasoline, get smuggled goods, etc.). Only the same gasoline usually appears on the road and it’s not uncommon, while you drag the car to a gas station, someone knocks down the owner of the car.
    For some reason, only the supply machines have jumps and nitro. But there are no rebel cars at the bases and vehicles next to which you are standing at the start of the game. It is necessary to request transport separately each time, if nitro is needed.
    If you didn’t play in the last part, then you may never know that you can get into an SUV, give a hoot and you will go unoccupied rebels. By the way, besides the diaries, I also liked the stories of fellow travelers.
    Sometimes your body falls for too long, tumbles, rolls, rolls over and the enemy crowd manages to shoot you in these 10-30 seconds.
    5 out of 10. And I bought the fourth part of the game. Explosions and moving on a cat and wingsuit I like :)    … Expand

    This game is okay. Most of the time you do the same things over and over. It gets boring pretty fast but I for sure had some fun. If it wasnt so repetive and the story would be better then I would have for sure spent a few hours more in this.

    Minor technical difficulties? Whenever there's a lot going on, the framerate drops to a slideshow level, with the action becoming almost unplayable. Did reviewers actually play the PS4 version?

    I’ll just cut to the chase the gameplay is mediocre, the graphics are horrendous compared to other 2015 games e.g: the Witcher 3 wild hunt, batman Arkham knight, bloodborne. But somehow the game is made extremely fun and you can essentially wreak havoc on everything and anything.     This game is a handful of lovely ideas wrapped up in a trash game. Awesome mobility, horrible driving. Some great characters, some truly terrible ones. Some great story development, some bland hollow story. It's like half the team REALLY wanted to make a good game and the other half couldn't wait to go home. Yet another example of Squeenix forcing a game through its corporate mesh to justThis game is a handful of lovely ideas wrapped up in a trash game. Awesome mobility, horrible driving. For what it's worth, flying around and blowing things up and tethering people to things is craploads of fun. The abandon ship mission is one of the worst game missions I've played in any game ever.
