Both story wise and technical issues the game is garbage for consoles. I remember i pre ordered it back in dec 2015 but even after all these years it hasn't been fixed...

Clumsy controls are frustrating and don't get me started with the vehicle handling and physics. The shooting feels like a game from ps2 era... seriously... how is this even fun... no recoil... no proper aiming ability.... the sound effects are mediocre. I would have taken time to talk about the campaign if there was any.

The fps never was a problem for me... until this travesty. Even with no action you will notice how badly the game engine handles its framerate. You can imagine what happens when the heaviest stuff is coming. If you thought that's bad... wait till you see the bugs in the game itself... It's as if the game is trying to be on big glitch itself. But before that wait until the game loads, make something to eat, exercise, read some newspaper.... or even better, find a better game to play.

All the game has to show is the grappling hook and explosions. It can be fun... for like a few hours until you see that technical problems take more time than the "fun" part.

I can see how this game can be entertaining for some people, but not for a long time. The only way I can recommend this game is as a rental if it's even possible today. And if you're planning to buy the game anyway, at least buy on PC if it's possible... it can't be in bad state as it is on PS4.

Just Cause 3 is really bland and boring, the gun play is really awkward and unsatisfying. I played this game for about 4 hours and i haven't touched it since and i don't have any intentions to either.

After that it gets super repetitive and doesn't evolve that much from Just Cause 2. Like its predecessor, it has a huge, enormous map. However, every city and enemy base you need to conquer look alike. And there's not a lot to do in this giant map.

Driving is terrible, really, really terrible and the game forces you to drive cars in most missions. Oh, and if you are expecting a minimap, forget it. I mean, what the WHAT??? How can't you have a minimap in a huge open world game??? It makes you open the map all the time to look for things. And with that comes the worst of the problems: Just Cause 3, a single player game, has an always online requirement.

Yep, you read that right. Just Cause 3, a single player game for consoles has an always online requirement. So, if your connection as is lame mine, expect the game to stop and try to connect to the server every five minutes. It does offer you an option to play offline, but it will try to reconnect to the server everytime you pause the game. So have fun waiting.

Graphics and animations are ok, but not mind blowing like MGS V:PP and they also have no attention to detail at all. For instance: when turning a car, Rico will move his arms, but the steering wheel won't move.

Anyhow, don't fool yourself like I just did. Buy another game, get yourself some new clothes, take your boyfriend/girlfriend to dinner, but DO NOT buy Just Cause 3.

The grappling system is wonky and hard to control most of the time, it really only works well in cities where you have lots to grapple, but most of the game so far has been open fields with little to grab. The parachute is near impossible to control while grappling and 95% a grapple while in wingsuit throws you right into the ground. Grappling vehicles to hijack is cool at first until you find out it only works half the time, the other half the time ends up you smashing into the vehicle and saying wtf to yourself. The weapon usage and aiming doesn't feel smooth at all, and the fire button switches while inside a vehicle, making me blow myself up with grenades constantly after a long ride in an attack vehicle. Additionally, with the vehicles, to say for the most part they handle like dog **** would be a terrible insult to dog **** There is what feels like a 1-2 second delay when turning a vehicle, so you are constanly over/understeering trying to "adapt" to the ****ty handling. There are fun aspects to the game outside of all the glaring problems, but the one hugely unacceptable thing about this game that totally **** it over are the ungodly load times. Holy **** the load times are baffling long on a next gen console. All in all I will say a decently fun game, but can't hold a candle to similar games like GTAV. Expand

The painful part is anything dealing with driving, and I mean anything. All the driving controls are unresponsive, to turn you have to stop, motorcycles do their own thing, you can do 90 degree turns with them and stop immediately because that's how turning works, right? This is the only game I have ever played where ATVs can't drive on dirt or sand, they slide everywhere. Flying has the same problem as driving, turning is near impossible to do without completely slowing down or having your plane sideways then its impossible to straighten without losing control. The only responsive thing about the driving is the gas, speeding up and driving straight is all you can do. Gliding also has a similar problem as driving, the turning, if you aren't trying to get some where in a hurry, its easier to just land and turn around. There are like 150 challenges in the game, none of which you will complete your first try due to the 'awesome' controls. So they are just a massive time sink if you want to 100% the game. If you want to spend 2 hours restarting the same challenge because you missed a target by an inch, or it requires you to turn, because if you were to miss the target ever so slightly, you should just restart. You won't finish on time or you won't have a high enough score. The easiest challenges are the shooting ones, its hard to mess up shooting, thankfully. Driving, flying and gliding challenges will take up most of your time trying to complete this game and its love of making you turn then losing control of whatever you are doing.

Avalanche Studios should be force to 100% Just Cause 3 before ever releasing a fourth. Every single employee should be forced to complete the game if they worked on it. Primarily the challenges. The best thing I can think of is they hand you a bowl of water and tell you to eat it with a fork, that's what playing this game is like. My recommendation is just stick with taking over bases and doing the story and say screw the challenges, you can probably complete it in around 25 hours, 350 hours if you want to do all the challenges.

Millions spent making a game, yet they're too incompetent to swap the shoulder buttons with an option, allowing players to use L1 & R1 for shooting. (Something they did in Just Cause 2!)

PS4's Accessibility option is worthless as this is an open world game, so driving would be L1/R1 as well. It's not a matter of adapting either, as shooting with the rear buttons is painful and

So, it's unplayable unless one was to toggle Accessibility on and off every time they entered and exited a vehicle. Maybe they'll patch an option in, but I'm sure they're clueless about this issue, like so many gamers seem to be.

There are many shortcomings. I was playing this game on the PS4, and it performs awfully. I’ve never seen an AAA title released that had so many framerate drops. You want to have fun in this game, but as soon as you blow something up it turns into a PowerPoint presentation.

The gameplay has very poor balancing and gets frustrating, rather than difficult. Many of its own main storyline missions are recycled. There are several missions where you’ll have to follow pipes in the ocean that leads to an underground base where you’ll have to destroy three generators.

Most of the game’s main story missions comprise of “escort missions”, where you need to defend people. One of your friends is Mario, and if you search his name you’ll see one of the top results is “Mario keeps running into tanks and dying” due to how badly the AI was programmed. In that particular mission, when I respawned at a checkpoint, Mario did not regenerate his health. So, I had the choice of either using that checkpoint or restarting that mission completely by reverting to a backup save. Why not simply refill his full health at the checkpoint?

This game has a strange health system. You regenerate health automatically after not taking bullets for a few seconds. When you take too many shots, the screen turns black and white (with only the enemies being coloured) to show you’re about to die and need to find cover. Why not have something where if you enter that state, the more enemies you kill the more health you recover? Your character will become a ragdoll whenever you’re near an explosion. It takes several seconds afterwards to resume control of your character. The problem is that you can get caught into chains where enemies will hit you with another explosion just after recovering, leading to not being able to do anything while your character is killed. You really can’t play this game too much at once, or it’ll get state quickly.

The game has a gun/vehicle order feature. Basically, you have a menu where your character can get a gun shipment from anywhere, but it’s implemented very poorly. You need to use “beacons” you obtain from taking over government-controlled areas, but they’re tough to find and they’re not marked on the map. The game map consists of many islands, so you will need a aircraft or boat to explore them. This is very good news, you could simply have an aircraft delivered to you! Unfortunately, that’s not always the case, as beacons are tricky to find and sometimes you’ll have to spend half an hour taking down a government-controlled city or base just to get another beacon (that, or spend hours travel on boat to the nearest location you previously taken over).

Speaking of transportation, the game has a fast travel feature for cities and bases you’ve taken over. This is very common practice for open-world games nowadays. Unfortunately, the fast travel system uses “flares”, which are strange to obtain like the beacons mentioned above! If you want to fast travel instead of spending hours flying over the sea to get to another island, you’re going to need to take over a base or city to compensate for the flare you just spent. It makes for a very frustrating system. I love the scenery and the graphics, but spending hours just flying over the ocean just to get from one island to another is unacceptable. I found myself reading the news on a laptop while doing so!

There’s also no minimap! Yes, you read that correctly, no minimap present in an open-world game on the PS4, even though open-world games have been using minimaps since the days of the PS1. So instead of just checking a nice little map on your screen for objectives, you’re going to keep having to hit the menu button to view your map, back and forth, back and forth, again and again. I actually printed a big world map! Why would you make your customer do that? Apparently someone powerful on the development team stated that he didn’t want a minimap because it felt like too much of a game. If you use Google, you’ll actually see that many people who bought Just Cause 3 are asking how to activate the minimap. They assumed that there was a minimap and that it was automatically set off by default. They’re in for a disappointment.

Many little improvements could’ve been made to make this game more fun. This is like Dead Rising 3, where poor decisions and silly technical issues led to a big series pretty much being ignored. The good news is that if you’re playing the PC version, you can probably find tweaks and people online who are making modifications to the game to address these issues. Unfortunately, I’m playing the PS4 version, so I’m stuck with all of these technical issues and bugs for life.

This game has so many dumb problems right from the start. To liberate outposts you have to destroy objects. Not just any objects or lots of objects, SPECIFIC objects. So you have to FIND them. How? oh yeh the devs didn't think of that - THERE IS NO MINIMAP!!! Why??? You have to press the touchpad to open the full map all the time. That's bafflingly idiotic design choice #1.

Bafflingly moronic design choice #2: To get upgrades you have to challenges throughout the world. Everything you destroy gives you chaos points which are constantly popping up on the screen. What does that do? Nothing! Why don't they just have an exp system to get upgrades using these chaos points? That would make too much dam sense apparently! Do the stupid challenges instead.

Also the loading times are really long and the controls are quite annoying with too many actions mapped to the same buttons. There is no zoom/lock/sights button because every button is already used.

The random open world tethering and blowing things up and the rocket packs ets are fun but trying to do anything else in the game is a waste of time. (It goes without saying that the story is pointless)

No matter how good that side content is, the story and main quest is ruined because the sense of emergency and realism is ruined. On the other hand, if they player decides to follow the story and ignore most of the side content, they will be unprepared for the more difficult moments of the story, and as a result their experience will contain a lot of harsh difficulty spikes. Furthermore, their experience will be a very limited one, as they are only following this one path in a sea of branching paths. In my opinion, the best open-world games purposefully create an environment where anything the player does feels like the right thing to be doing. Everything feeds into the experience instead of being their own separate entities. That is why, despite the universal criticism of it, I desperately wanted to like Just Cause 3, and in some ways I do. I like the amount of freedom the player is given from the very beginning of the game despite the fact that not everything is unlocked, which gave me the impression that this game was confident in its world for entertainment, and that gave me hope that the game would use its environment and its world to always keep things fresh. I like the movement mechanics, because the variety of ways to traverse the world allowed familiar areas to feel fresh. The movement on the ground, by contrast, feels restrictive and stiff by comparison. For example, it's weird that the game doesn't allow Rico to scope. I get that it was going for the 'arcade-style shooter vibe, but then why do the guns all have limited ammo? If their ammo was infinite, but the reload times were made more extensive, I may have overlooked this, but to me this minor flaw is a little jarring. The explosion effects are obviously pretty, if only because they're so over the top. The loading screens start acceptably, as they never break the flow to an unforgivable extent and mostly stay below forty-five seconds each, however they seem to increase in time throughout the game, and by the end go for a minute and a half. Another persistent flaw is how unpolished the game feels. In thirty hours, this game crashed about seven times, each of which signaled the end of a play session for me, which brings me to the most egregious part of the game: it cannot keep my attention. Despite the fun superhero-esque movement controls and expanse of beautiful fields, everything in this game is exactly what has already been seen. The environments are very bare in terms of variation, ninety percent of the environments are fields and snowy mountains. Sometimes the layout of the environment changes, which can really keep the game fresh, but that is all the game does to demonstrate its varied locals. Compare this to Horizon: Zero Dawn or Breath of the Wild. In both of these games there were a variety of environments, each with their own effects, enemies, and hazards. In Just Cause 3, there's no purpose in exploring because all there is to find is enemy camps and more fields. Despite the initial promise of an open-world game with focus on the world itself, exploring gets dull very fast. There's nothing to find and nothing but repetitive missions to do. This would be excusable if the main story was fun to follow, but almost every single mission ends up using the same mechanics, and instead of using the wingsuit, most of the missions use either the mediocre driving controls, or the simplistic shooting mechanics. Despite the fun that can be had through grappling up mountains or soaring through the skies, Just Cause 3 tries to place its focus on a world without variety, and as a result the whole game lacks variety as well, so I'm going to give Just Cause 3 a 4 out of 10. les invito a comprarse just cause 2, porque este no lo vale. lo obtuve gratis y solo por eso puedo entregar una critica, sino dudo que lo hubiese comprado solo con ver gameplays... pero si quires comprar este juego, te recomiendo primero buscar en youtube explosiones belicas, porque seguramente será lo mismo que el propio juego.

The start of the game was good, but it became boring after the first 1/2 missions ,except the boss at the end of the game. The game has no ending, and it makes me questioning what happened to Rico and Marios lives after Medici was liberated. That is for me unsatisfying

I don't know what else makes this game horrible. If it's gameplay, if it's excessive exaggeration, if it's excessive unrealism, etc. But, if I could choose something that makes the experience unbearable, I would choose the excessive drop in fps and the horrible thing is that you try to drive a vehicle. It is worth mentioning that I didn't even make 10% progress in the game and I'm already bored.

For all its booms and bangs, Just Cause 3 is never quite the unrestrained fun-maker it threatens to be. Whenever Rodriguez dons his wingsuit, however, it positively soars. [Jan 2016, p.88]
