I've played this game countless number of times on the PS3. I will play it countless number of times on the PS4. It's not your typical piece of entertainment. It's not something that hemorrhages explosions, gore, or lengthy cinematic cut scenes to tell a story. There isn't even dialogue! It's a tribute to minimalism in every single way. This experience is not for everyone, but if you are an avid gamer with a hunger for a deep story and rich artistry, then it's a must. Expand

It's a decent game, but it's less than 2 hours long and offers no replayability. The gameplay is solid, albeit extremely simple, and you can tell it's been designed to be played once and put aside. Not BAD, but not great.

A very enjoyable and beautiful game, and something new you don't see that much. The game is defiently replayable for few times, and its enjoyable every single time. Though the game is only about 3h, but the gameplay makes up for it.

These games had some nice ideas but were essentially little more than tech demos. Despite its difficult development their third title is however something special indeed.

These games had some nice ideas but were essentially little more than tech demos. Despite its difficult development their third title is however something special indeed.

Journey opens with a cloaked figure awakening in the desert, heading to the top of the nearest sand bank you are greeted by a mountain shining in the distance. Instinctively you know that's where you should be heading, your journey has begun...

Other than a few simple puzzles Journey features very little traditional gameplay. Instead it is the visual and audio design, alongside the brilliantly implemented online multiplayer, that combine to make for a truly memorable (and at times even emotional) experience. At around two hours in length it doesn't take long to play through but Journey well and truly ends the debate as to whether or not video games can be considered an art form.

It's a good game overall. Nice remaster, graphics look stunning and music too. Apart from that the game is too small for it's original price (I got it about 5 euros from ps store at a discount), doesn't offer anything interesting (my opinion) and can be confusing at the beginning. Journey is more interactive art than a game. You don't really have any real challenge and the gameplay is simplistic. It does however have an outstanding art style and soundtrack. It's brief but poignant and somehow creates and emotional impact, especially when adventuring with a random co-op player.

Quite a disappointment. As I love philosophical topics, I thought I would enjoy the experience, but it appeared empty and boring. I like the idea, but not the effect. I feel that the simplicity, that should encourage you to think and "enjoy the silence" has no actual sense in this case. No matter how hard I tried to like like the game, I felt it's meaningless. Two points for nice visuals

Красиво, расслабляюще, но историей проникаешься как-то слабо. Ожидал большего погружения.

    Pros:
    + Graphics
    + Soundtrack
    + Puzzles

    Cons:
    - Boring
    - Wouldn't classify this as being a "game" but more of an experience
    - Little to no replay value whatsoever

    Verdict: 5/10

Artsy games like this are not worth your time or money. If you want to be emotionally invested, go watch a movie.

Why this game gets overwhelming praise is beyond me. Its a fine little game you can play for 2 hours and definitely has it's moments especially towards the end. it does a great job with environmental storytelling and is artistically beautiful but it doesn't do enough in my opinion to warrant anything higher than a 7. That's not to say it's bad though. It was a good time and I enjoyed it. IWhy this game gets overwhelming praise is beyond me. I would describe this game a atmospherical walking simulator as the main aspect feels to impact you visually and by audio experience. Besides that there is nothing to do at all. You wander through different regions until you have reached your destination. I mean, it is called Journey after all.

To me I am one of the few it seems that couldnt appreciate this game. It felt even stressful

To me I am one of the few it seems that couldnt appreciate this game. It felt even stressful to play because at times it is so low that it wasnt fun for me. I know all of this is supposed to ressemble the Journey etc but it is not enough to my liking. I played similar typed games that caught me a lot better.

I think for many people that like calm atmospherical games this game might be interesting to discover. I personally cannot recommend the "game". It has no replay value, it is very slow. Playtime is around 1-2hrs. I got it with PS+ for free so I wanted to try it but for the regular price of 14.99 I dont see the price tag fitting. That is at least my very personal opinion. I can see why this game is fascinating for others so probably it is up to everyone individually to test it out and see whether it clicks or not.

In my opinion not so great game, like all critics and players say. Yes, it is very beautiful in some moments, it is rather meditative sometimes, but there are nothing else. All this beauty and senses you have to find by yourself, and it is right, but i dont think that it's enough from game to give you only textures and music.

One of the most surprising and delightful finds of my two decades as a gamer. Journey was a powerful reminder of the need for wonder, introspection and connection with others. The short playtime also adds to the experience in a way, I don't know how to explain it, its just remarkable and worth experiencing for yourself.

I had forgotten just how much this game meant to me. Journey isn't a game you play to feel exhilarated, it has heart-thumping moments sure, but that's not what its all about. In the beginning there is unsure exploration of a strange world. Then you begin to learn and master your skills, experiencing jaw droppingly gorgeous moments, the world and narrative beautifully flowing together as you endure it alone or with a companion. As a mysterious history and a dedication to your future drive you forward you must overcome darkness and master the light to progress into true salvation. Does that sound too religious, probably. But Journey doesn't have to be about that, it's about you. Enjoy the music and marvel at the relaxing gameplay. It will be worth your time. Expand

It's very hard to give a rating to this game. The thing is, it's not much of a game. You could try to categorize it as a puzzle game but it's not hard to notice that developers cared more about it's presentation and story (or rather its moral). You really have to approach it as a game-like experience.

Yes, from the artistic point of view - it's great. Soundtrack is really good but

Yes, from the artistic point of view - it's great. Soundtrack is really good but nothing to write home about. I feel like this game would be a lot better if it wasn't that easy even towards the end. Puzzles don't really get much more difficult the longer you play and there could be a few more.

As an artistic and emotional experience with moral - it's strong. As a game it's not very successful and I rate it as a game. If you can pick it up for up to 15€ - it's worth it.

Journey is an absolute masterpiece of a video game. It may be short, but it is by far the most beautiful game I've ever played. An incredible soundtrack that will leave you in awe, outstanding graphics and views, simple yet immersive gameplay; Journey is not something you want to miss.

Journey is an experience that is a privilege to partake in. It evokes a range of emotions from joy and wonder to fear and heartbreak. The visuals are a sight to behold. It is simple, but not simplistic. It will make you ponder life, friendship, love, loss and triumph. Journey deserves to be experienced

A decent game that challenges what a video game can be. I liked the environment, the scenery and the music. There are several game design choices that don't make much sense and make the game frustrating or annoying. For example, the fact that you need to "recharge" your scarf to jump (until you get the white robes), or the sentinels/guardians (which are just annoying). The Snow level is also too long and annoying, with the character walking so slowly and getting pushed back by the blizzard.

All in all, the game isn't horrible but I don't think it qualifies as a good game. An interesting "experience" maybe, for people who may be looking for such experiences in video games.

Note for trophy hunters : This game is short and easy, and the trophies are fairly simple, but the multiplayer ones may prove to be tedious since you don't know who you're gonna get paired with and what they will decide to do.

It’s as much a part of the PlayStation legacy as Ico is, as Shadow Of The Colossus is. Its place in PlayStation legend goes beyond its similar presentation and taps into something more sublime, something more exhilarating.
