    Boring mediocre open world game. Bland locations, repetitive gameplay. Too much lot of dialogues and cutscenes, graphics is good, feels like a movie, but story for me wasn't so interesting, it depends on knowledge of first game. Feels like single player mmorpg with a lot of grind. Collect resources, clean camps, same stuff you do in other open world games. This version works terrible onBoring mediocre open world game. How can they give an honest unbiased review when the game comes out unfinished, leaving it up to the consumers to have to work as play testers for 59.99$ or more??? Are they even gamers??? Graphics are great...when immersion isn't broken by glaring buggy discrepancies compared to the Horizon Zero Dawn main game. Sound is not implemented well when you have to tweak monster audio to not drown out voice overs. Bugs and badly balanced gameplay. Bugs and bad gameplay balance wrecks this game currently. Guerilla games is doing to Horizon what they pretty much did to their other franchise Killzone. Just on a grander scale. And some of the developers got the nerve to negatively compare another tried and true franchise's systems to theirs.     Horizon Zero Dawn was one of my favorite PlayStation exclusives, so I was really looking forward to this game. But oh boy this was a huge disappointment.
    After five years, this is really the best Guerrilla has come to?
    The graphics are the only real positive, which are the exact same as the first game. The story is a disaster: really boring, uninteresting, lame, and also plain    Horizon Zero Dawn was one of my favorite PlayStation exclusives, so I was really looking forward to this game. But oh boy this was a huge disappointment.
    After five years, this is really the best Guerrilla has come to?

    The graphics are the only real positive, which are the exact same as the first game.

    The story is a disaster: really boring, uninteresting, lame, and also plain ridiculous at some point. Halfway through, I wished it was over because it was really THAT unbearable. No spoilers, but it wasn't good at all. Also, why there's a one-hour-long tutorial?!
    The new characters introduced in the story were really not that interesting; thankfully, we get to see some of my favorites of the old game. Aloy's character also worsened, being more "bossy" and know-it-all (even while playing she tells you every 5 seconds what to do and what not, incredibly irritating).

    To make it worse, every cutscene is dragged for far too long, it really gets tiring real quick. Everyone in this game talks so much that it gets super boring to listen to, and this was also in the side quests, by the way.
    I'm not even going to touch on how the current people of this world are talking and expressing themselves like living in 2022 and not in a post-apocalyptic setting. That ruined most part of the atmosphere for me to the point that I skipped every dialog not related to the main story.

    Gameplay-wise, it's almost identical to the first game, which isn't a bad thing. They also added the option to swim underwater and fly on robot birds. New weapons and new abilities.
    Great, isn't it? Obviously no, because the somehow made the combat experience even worse. For example, every time an enemy hits you, you get knocked down and stunned for almost three seconds, making the combat really frustrating and not fun. The melee combat, which was already clunky in the first game, ended up being EVEN MORE clunky, and this really shows up in the Melee Pits.

    The new overworld things such as "Machines strikes" or races were added, in my opinion, just because to. They all look pretty eh, not interesting but not terrible either.

    Finally, optimization speaking. Now, this game was probably (and rightfully) made to be played on PS5. But the optimization for ps4 is terrible. The game crashed my PlayStation 2 times and I had multiple times frame drops, especially while fighting rebel camps. Not to mention, also incredibly long loading times.

    All in all, this game was a super disappointment. I'm really saddened that the prequel was miles and miles better than this one. There are probably even other bad and boring things i have not touched on right now because i got tired of writing this essay.
    This is easily one of PlayStation's worse and forgettable exclusives. At full price, I would recommend this only to the die-hard fan of the first game. But for everyone else, just wait for a discount, or don't play it at all, it's not that big of a deal honestly.    … Expand

    OGM is a **** show.... the game is outrageously full of bugs, glitches and clips everywhere.
    the dialogues are cringe and shallow and the game got a super woke imprinting.

    is really redundant and tedious. The story struggle to keep you going ed explore the empty open world.
    really disappointed.

    A lot of Bugs. The missión the wound in the sand cant start, the npc dont go to the correct place for start the misión.
    Objects remain floating, game loads where objects are lost or in wrong locations,...
    The BEST gráfics of PS4 games but this is a Game not a movie.

    This is the opposite to the first Horizon: none innovation and a stuck and repetitive gameplay.

    My score to this game isn't even lower in respect for everything the Horizon Zero Down built, but I had no fun at all playing it.

    With all the titanic work done with models and animations = a terrible boring, dull and stupid game with absurd dialogues and just stupid dialogues.

    All open-world games have turned into gum for idiots.
    Not one new idea or something, so that after half an hour it doesn't get boring. Modern AAA games are wasted time.
    And only Indies are sometimes surprised, but they lack elaboration of details and quality.

    All the screenwriters are extinct, like dinosaurs.
    There were only "effective managers" and "character designers" or "clothing designers" - I don't know.
    But definitely not game designers. They didn't even touch this game, didn't even see it, and didn't even pass by to give the developers a slap on the head.
    Play ENSLAVED Odyssey to the West or Genshin Impact instead.

    But not in this **** which is not even 10% the level of Sony and PS.

    There is no limit to my indignation. With all the typical beauty
    of "HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST", the eyes get used to it after 10 minutes and the game does not even try to surprise.

    Absolutely everything in it is done on the dump, probably except for the model of the main character and animation. Only Ubisoft can do worse.

    So a new fashion has also gone, when the games are completely different for the first 2 hours and after 2 hours. The first 2 hours of the game may even be interesting, but not later. All so that you can't get the money back.
    This game shows right away how lame it is and you realize that 100 hours of repetitions are waiting for you.

    Oh, yes, all over the world of the game, everyone knows who the heroine is and what she did in the last part. Are they sure they don't have SMS there?

    And I'll add 1 point for the fact that this game runs on PS4 at all.    … Expand

    The graphics are outstanding in this game. The combat is fine just like the first game. Repetitive quests, too many cutscenes, and the story are kinda bland. You need to grind in this game which isn't a problem if you're doing different activities to earn but in this game, you keep doing the same thing.

    This game is awful compared to the first. Gameplay is worse across the board, movement and combat are flawed and frustrating. Tons of bugs and balance issues, and the story is *terrible*. Hard to believe this was made by the same company. Will definitely skip future games.

    While the original was awesome Guerrilla Games released this shinning turd way to early. The game is littered with craptasitc crashes that make it frustrating in the beginning and unplayable in the later games where battles last longer. Guerrilla should focus on their QA department.     The world of Horizon is beautiful but boring. I'm just not interested by Aloy and this universe. It's aother third-person single-player game, again. Guerilla should bring back Killzone !

    Probably the biggest disappointment in awhile. I had very high expectations. The story is bland and unimaginative, the game play is very boring. Even the lauded graphic are underwhelming. Really dropped the ball here.

I've played 60+ hours on very hard difficulty. And the only thoughts that come to me during every fight are "If only I didn't get stuck! If only the hit-box would work as usual!". Aloy gets stuck in every stone and step, while jumping all the time strives to cling to some kind of ledge, from which you can still unhook in the heat of battle, and opponents even when you are level 50 can at a random moment make you a one-shot - the last time the wavebiter killed me like that was in the last cauldron - it’s just that at the next roll he decided that his usual attack should take all his health. Fights with several opponents are generally quiet horror. It's easier to fight a thunderbolt in a wasteland than two snaptooths in a small rocky arena. Opponents attack on cooldown, and sometimes, performing an attack at the same time can make a "one-shot". The situation is similar with people here - it is easier to fight effectively with one elite than with a crowd of archers. Human bosses are something too. The battle with the Fortress (the final quest of the arena) comes down to randomness. Whether she decides in the second phase of the battle to draw her bow and fire an uninterrupted and unblockable series of shots point-blank, or she will carry through and just have to dodge a melee attack - the outcome of the battle depends on this.
    Separately, it is worth mentioning the technique of treatment. If in Zero Dawn you could calmly not use a single heal on the highest difficulty with the heaviest opponent, then in this part a third or a quarter of the battle comes down to healing. In Zero Dawn, you still had to farm for heals, but for the most part they are not needed in such quantities.
    I don't think that I am one of the worst players on the console, but even if you look at the leaderboards of the arena (where you have to fight with machines), then the first (1 out of 5), the easiest test - only 200 people passed it! After that, I decided to finish the story and score on all side activities.
    Good equipment can save the situation with a fight, but in order to buy and upgrade it, you will have to suffer for hours trying to knock out the right parts. Firstly, you need to find the right car, secondly, take away a special part from it, and thirdly, fill up the car itself (not all parts go astray). There are no problems with light and frequently encountered machines (apart from the fact that the part still needs to be hit). But what to do with thunderstorms and machines of this class? You will have to fill up not one such car, but several. Each will have to spend several minutes of battle, and even more to collect the necessary resources! And some cars still need to be found! In general, if in the first part you had to collect equipment for hours, then here you will have to spend days, and if you don’t have a vacation, weeks to collect all the equipment!
    Quests here for the most part are not interesting, neither the main plot, nor the side ones. There are exceptions, but in general it all boils down to the fact that, for example, they tell you about a couple of lovers, and after 5-10 minutes a tragedy - the guy died. Well, why should I care? I knew him? Maybe his personality was described by other quests? No. This quest could be put into some datapoint that could be read. And so almost everywhere.
    The open world from the point of view of its study is made poorly - all this need to grind resources and go through uninteresting quests to anyone simply kills it. If Zero Dawn you could even vacuum it in a day, then it will take about a week to kill it here.
    And a small review about the main plot and the world of Horizon as a whole. If in the first part we were clearly given to understand that the Forerunners were not far from our time culturally and somewhat even technologically, then with the introduction of new information about the technological development of mankind into the plot, some kind of nostalgia disappeared or something. After passing the game, I got the feeling that this is not all about you and me and not about a possible path for the development of mankind.
    In general, I advise you to go through the game only the main plot, the missions of "partners" and the camps (not outposts) of the rebels. Play at the "narrative" level. At a minimum, this will allow you to miss 80 percent of the negative points.    … Expand

    As in Horizon Zero Dawn, Forbidden West is an okay game to play if you don't care at all about interesting characters or a plot with any depth.
    However, as a multi-decade gamer, I can only laugh in pain as Aloy, the main character of the Horizon Games has managed to become an even more obvious depiction of Mary Sue, she is neither interesting nor fun to play with while being able to do anything.

    Печально что в студии не поняли за что всем понравилась Zero Dawn, минимум изменений по сравнению с предыдущей частью, абсолютно проходная история да и игра по большому счету. Anyways, I stopped playing during the first mission after probably the 4th cut scene. Sure I can skip them but I’m not wasting my time. The crafting is tedious.     It's amazing how poorly polished the game has come out, everything is full of fog to cover up the pop-in and some mechanics are very annoying, the game is still boring as the first part was, I hope at least that this game is released on PC as soon as possible to fix graphical problems, because the    The real name of the game should be Horizon II Forbidden MIST...     I'm sure this game is a near perfect masterpiece on PS5. No doubt.
    But on PS4, this is near Cyperpunk broken. Lags, stutters, framerate issues, objects and textures popping into existence nearly ever second. At least every 5 second, an object or a texture is popping.

    But on PS4, this is near Cyperpunk broken. Lags, stutters, framerate issues, objects and textures popping into existence nearly ever second. At least every 5 second, an object or a texture is popping.

    Besides the technical issues... the game turns up on "wokeness". Aloy's face has gotten wider and much more masculine. She is not looking cute anymore, now she looks like a dude. She also acts much more like a dude, being masculine and demanding, and bossing around with the men in the game. So Aloy nows:
    Looks like a man
    Acts like a man

    And the other men in the game now:
    Acts like females/beta-males
    Taking orders from a woman
    Talking to a woman like she is a goddess and a leader and an alpha.

    Besides that the game pushed propaganda near constantly:
    "God is dead"
    "There is no God"
    "Space is real"
    "Space travel is real"
    "The solar system is heliocentric"
    "Only stupid people believe in geocentrism"

    We have seen this time and time again from Sony games, and it's a shame, why politics and lies have to be mixed in...

    This letdown combined with PS5 stock problems.... I THINK I MIGHT GO FULL XBOX SOON

    Just simply not a very good game. Little to no story. Most content is missable and untracked.

    Very outdated and disappointing on accessibility. Unimpressive visual and audio design. Sluggish combat. Stupid climbing. Janky horse. Poor optimization and performance despite very minimal technical ambition. Lots of lazy corners cut, like the slideshow opening.

    I played Horizon Zero Dawn 3 times and the frozen DLC twice. I loved the first game, even with all its repetitiveness and flaws.

    After 20 hours with HZFW i am ready to uninstall this piece of garbage.     Horizon Forbidden West is a mediocre game with a lot of bugs. Maybe year or two it is bug free and not now. You can levitated, drop off the map, run against invisible wall, etc. Those are only couple bugs what game has to offer. Horizon Forbidden West is a pale shadow from its predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn.

    On ps4 really bad perfomance. FPS drops, objects and textures loading right in front of your nose.
    All environment is so blurry, hard to see any objects from distance.
    And i dont say any thing about entourage of the game.
    Some character presentation is so stupid and uninspiring.

    Very bad graphics and optimization, constant bugs with stuck in textures, constant loading of textures.

    It more looks like not second part, but for how the first part should have looked, finally they slightly corrected the animation of the faces and stopped being so stupid.

    Disapointment of the year. This game is to buggy to be this long. And runs terribly on the PS4 Pro. After 80 hours of game time and reaching level 50 I am finally giving up without even finishing the story.

    First off it looks absolutely beautiful. I loved the first game but this one has insane amounts of performance issues. Probably about 5 hrs in the frame rate during combat dropped to an unplayable level, even exploration is frustrating now. I’m very disappointed and I’m hoping they fix it soon. The technical issues have turned what should be an amazing game into a massive headache.

    Is it fun? Yes. Is it in a playable state? Kinda. Should you wait until the patch that fixes the stuttering and FPS issues bugs and glitches .

    So far Good but need improvements and better optimization.

    If you liked Zero Dawn, you will probably enjoy Forbidden West, even though the sequel lost that pioneering spirit and Aloy stopped developing as a character.

    Horizon Forbidden West embraces everything about its predecessor and makes strides in producing an even more compelling world to explore, with intense combat and story moments, and shiny new robo-dinosaurs to punch in the face. I cannot wait to see where Aloy and her companions’ story goes next.
