Aug 12, 2014Genuine art is meant to evoke a response from its audience, and Hohokum's diverse assortment of imaginative endeavors makes it easy to get lost inside its world. It's effective union of art, activity and music, managing a progression of open personal responses without the weight of a direct narrative or dissonant mechanics.
-
Sep 3, 2014It’s certainly not going to be a game for everyone but it undoubtedly resonated with me.
-
Sep 1, 2014In the interests of variety, evolution, and the survival of creative thought, Hohokum is a game that needs to exist and be celebrated by those who can appreciate it.
-
Aug 27, 2014Hohokum is a visually stunning trip into some weird dimension full of flying creatures, relaxing music and good vibes.
-
Aug 18, 2014This is a game that sticks with you long after you switch it off.
-
Aug 25, 2014In these days, players are surrounded by identical shooter games but Hohokum, offers them an exit way.
-
Aug 13, 2014Hohokum is one of those games that could only have been created by a small team, so distinct are the voices within the presentation and design.
-
Aug 12, 2014Most importantly, you get from Hohokum what you put into it. Players who investigate the nooks and crannies, seeing everything in each world, will be rewarded.

Pelit (Finland)Sep 17, 2014Hohokum is a conundrum as it doesn't quite feel like a proper game. It's a bright and cheerful Snake clone that focuses on offering as relaxing experience as possible. The lack of a proper goal and complete lack of challenge are a bit hard to swallow. [Sept 2014]
-
Aug 29, 2014Hohokum is a perfect blend of low-impact gameplay, adorable visuals and a great soundtrack. The only downsides are some of the harder puzzles towards the end, but those frustrations are easy to overcome if you give Hohokum the time it deserves.
-
Aug 22, 2014Hohokum is one of those games, where you can simply lean back to dive into beautifully designed worlds somewhere between “zen gaming” and a serious puzzler.
-
Aug 20, 2014This is one of these ideas that are not designed for everyone, but if you are open for innovation it can be fascinating.
-
Aug 12, 2014A game that can successfully and constantly challenge the player with so many vastly varied ideas is pretty impressive. I don’t even want to use the word “puzzle” to describe any part of this game.
-
Games Master UKSep 19, 2014A wonderful example of what can be achieved when developers dispense with tradition. [Nov 2014, p.66]
-
Play UKSep 18, 2014A curious, colorful adventure that is unlike anything you've ever played before. [Issue#248, p.66]
-
Sep 4, 2014Hohokum is a pretty odd experience, where traditional game mechanics is hard to find. What’s left is a game free from tutorials and instructions, with a beautiful world where nothing feels forced. Thanks to that both the hardcore player and the beginner can find something here.
-
Sep 4, 2014Hohokum is a pleasantly strange break from reality. It’s filled with color, personality and charm, and if you can overlook the lack of game-like structure to find your own way in the game’s psychedelic world, you’ll find a satisfying meditative experience backed by precise controls.
-
Aug 28, 2014Don’t venture into Hohokum hoping to understand what it’s all about, just sit back and enjoy the ride.
-
Aug 25, 2014Like any good vacation, you'll return home at the end of it with lasting fond memories. But unlike most vacations, with Hohokum you always have the opportunity to revisit them whenever the mood strikes.
-
Aug 22, 2014Hohokum can be considered as a video game or interactive art, depending on the way we see the experience of playing. But developing such an experimental approach surely requires genuine creativity, that is expressed with an elegant and misleading simplicity through this singular journey.
-
Aug 21, 2014The sheer variety and novelty of what Hohokum offers, as well as the attention paid to making sure that something as basic as the movement feels great (the only game I think does this as well as Hohokum is another Playstation title, Journey), means that Hohokum is going to be something I come back to, on occasion, for a pleasant escape. And it’s one well worth your time.
-
Aug 14, 2014Despite the occasional frustration it brings, Hohokum is an absolute treat to behold.
-
Aug 14, 2014Blaming a game this casual and calm for being obtuse is like yelling at the masseuse for doing too good of a job.
-
Sep 2, 2014Hohokum is a weird game above all else. The relaxing music and special visual style, however, is held back by clumsy level design.
-
Aug 25, 2014Hohokum is an excellent cross between LocoRoco and Journey, one of the very best indie games on PS4. It really captivates the player thanks to its visual touch, its wonderful soundtrack and the simplicity of its gameplay. Despite of offering only a few hours of game, Hohokum remains a UFO that will satisfy every lover of poetic productions.
-
Aug 22, 2014Hohokum is a title that makes colors and imagination its centerpiece: one of those games that bombards the senses of those who decide to try it, and tries to conquer the mind with its creativity and artistic impact.
-
Aug 20, 2014Hohokum can feel like a chore at times but for the most part, this is an original, inspired piece of interactive art.
-
Aug 20, 2014Novelty and relaxing fun awaits in this unique adventure. A real strange and experimental game.
-
Aug 12, 2014You should definitely try Hohokum if only to understand how weird and hard to describe it is. But not everyone will appreciate its laid-back attitude and guidance allergy. It’s certainly a beautiful and unique title, and I enjoyed playing it, but bring along some extra patience just in case.
