Hawken has never been a terrible game, but it has never made a case for itself as anything more either. This console version puts up even less of a fight.

And most importantly for a noob like me, I was able to hold my own and not just die over and over when I jumped in. The combat is decent and the maps are ok (I have to spend a bit more time learning them to have a definitive judgement tho). Well worth checking out! Full Review »

If mechs are your thing, you'd probably want to check this out, it will keep you busy until Titanfall 2 comes out. It's a fairly deep game with many different mechs to unlock (it's been out on steam since 2012) and by now it's a pretty polished game. My main gripe is that some players pay to unlock better mechs that are much better than the free mechs and the amount of time needed to grind out enough for a better mech is way too long. Still this game is free and it's pretty fun. Full Review »

Although the dark and dirty maps can get repetitive, the various alterations on the mechs can support dozens of hours of casual fun gameplay with no need for and cash to be spent (also I have never spent a penny on Hawken).
