Very good game for Gundam fans with a PS4. Network is ok when it works, but some people could really use a internet upgrade. Plenty of Gundams from pretty much every series besides Mobile Suit Fighter G Gundam. Works just as good with a controller(if not better imo) than a fightstick which I've both used. Audio is excellent, true to the Gundam series in every fashion. OnlyVery good game for Gundam fans with a PS4. Network is ok when it works, but some people could really use a internet upgrade. Enough single player content to keep you occupied till your Gundam Pilot enough to test your mettle online.

Graphics are good for a fluid gundam game. The only problem is the amount of DLC per suit....a whole whopping $5.00 USD. Very costly but I'm probably Gundam nut enough to buy it all. Gundam Age just had DLC so there might be hope for G Gundam.

Gundam Versus is a game that I've been wanting to get my hands on for quite some time. It is the latest title in the long running series of "Gundam Vs." games, and the first mainline title to hit American shores since Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam all the way back in 2005. It is the latest title in the long running series of "Gundam Vs." games, and the first mainline title to hit American shores since Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam all the way back in 2005. (Excluding spinoffs like Extreme Vs. Force and the Dynasty Warriors games, it is also the first Gundam game to hit the West in nearly a decade.) Needless to say, I was hit with both feelings of joy and want after a few hours with it.

Graphically, the titular Mobile Suits look fantastic on the PS4. Every unit has a level of flair and shine which really makes each one stand out from the other. That being said, the stages which you'll do battle in leave a bit to be desired. To me personally, there were several which just felt... vacant. However, others may and will feel differently.

Considering the name, one would be correct to assume that this game has various MS throughout the franchises history to do battle with. They'd be right to do so. Yet there are a lot of strange exclusions when it comes to this. G Gundam, Seed Destiny, Endless Waltz, and a few more currently have no representative. It's admittedly jarring seeing a game like this and it lacking the God Gundam, Wing Zero Custom, or the 00 Gundam. for instance. However, this looks to be rectified with DLC as the newest update has just introduced MS from the series 'Gundam Age' into the fray. But, each DLC unit could prove to put a hole in your wallet, seeing that each is $5.00 a piece... Aside from that grievance, there are plenty of units at hand, I believe it's around 90 or so in the base game alone.

Gameplay is excellent. There is something for every kind of player. Do you want to keep at a distance and blast your foes from afar? This game has you covered. Perhaps you want to get right in the enemies face and punish them for keeping their distance. This game has you covered. There are also various modes for you to pick and choose from and they're really just standard affair for a title such as this. I suppose that's my issue. It's really just your typical selection. Single player content on offer is comprised up of an arcade mode with various ladders based on difficulty, a free battle mode, a tutorial mode, and "Ultimate Battle". However, these really act as a way for you to practice and build up your units for the online. That is made up of three modes: Causal, Ranked, and Player Match. They do attempt to spice it up with options such as 3v3 or the upcoming boss mode. Here's hoping we'll see more added in future updates. It is admittedly sad to see a game like this lack local multiplayer, but that is to be expected in this day and age.

Gundam Versus is a game which I love wholeheartedly for a number of reasons. It is also a game which I think could also benefit from a number of changes. More modes could greatly extend the longevity of the game, as could more popular units returning as DLC. If you're a fan of Gundam then I recommend it wholeheartedly. If you want to get into the series, this could be a good jumping on point.

    Pros
+ Over 90 Playable Mobile suits
+ Addicting competitive online play + Great nostalgic music + Share Play Cons - The way you block is pressing down and then up on the analog or d-pad and it kinda is tough to pull off in the heat of battle. Espcially since the Vita version of this series had it set to one button - Lack of customization for online lobbies, no ability to increase

    Cons
    - The way you block is pressing down and then up on the analog or d-pad and it kinda is tough to pull off in the heat of battle. Espcially since the Vita version of this series had it set to one button
    - Lack of customization for online lobbies, no ability to increase the total cost, modify the room from one mode to the next or ban certain mobile suits from being used in your lobby (only cost tiers can be banned)
    - Badai Namco not allowing the Share Button for Broadcast and Recording
    - The removal of many popular Gundams like Mobile FIghter G, Endless Walts and 00 Second Season when we all know they'll just bring them back as DLC
    - Not option to turn off button combinations, if an attack is circle I don't need square and triangle being pressed at the same time doing a move that equals the circle button's move this can mess up combos and even make you activate your Ex Burst when you didn't want to. I know it's for the arcade sticks but the Gamepad players shouldn't have to suffer.

Great game for the series. Graphic quality is great, pacing feels great, but a little slower than it's older counter parts. and the network is unstable so far and I would like to get that fixed, but the roster and play-styles of each mobile suit makes the game very fun to pick up, choose the mech you desire, and start practicing. Practice is VERY big part of the series. I highly recommendGreat game for the series. (Below I'm just gonna answer some of the questions you guys might ask.)

Not too good and you don't want to get squashed by better players? No worries! You can setup a room just for beginner or how you would rate your skill with the game.

Need help? There are guides for the game already out there just waiting to be watched. If that doesn't suit your fancy, you can DM me on twitter for tips @Gundamwolf17 .

Should I wait for a sale? If you don't want to buy the game at it's full price, thats understandable, but I STRONGLY recommend people get this game on sale, worth every penny.

Is there local coop and should I get the game to play with friends? They removed local coop sadly, however if you both have the game and if you have more friends, why not set up a private room to test your mettle against each other. I fun alone, amazing with friends (IMO)

Should I have prior knowledge of the series? No actually. If you want to sit down, pop a cold one, and bench the series you can do that, but it is not required to enjoy the game.

Can I change the song that plays for my mobile suit? Yes. you can change the songs for the MS you want by going to the "Set BGM" screen.

The game is fun and enjoyable, features easily over 90 mobile suits from the start. The online matches are fun and in most cases i don't have too much trouble getting into a casual or player match. The interesting thing is that in order to get into Ranked Matches the game wants you to have experienced at least 50 online matches in casual and/or Player matches. One of the best and most popular series from Japanese arcades finally travels to the West. The single player mode is solid at most, but the multiplayer is worthy of a Game of the Year, mainly thanks to an amazing movement system. [13/2017, p.51]

As someone with no deep knowledge of the franchise and severe misgivings about fighting game innovations, I was pleasantly surprised at how extremely playable Gundam Versus is. Great balancing and simple controls allow anyone to jump right into the combat, and the matches are always brief enough that I never felt like I was being forced to wallow in failure while learning the ropes. It turns out that a player doesn’t need to already know and love Gundam to appreciate high-speed robot carnage.

It's tough to say whether Gundam Versus is worth the purchase at full price. It lacks content, especially for those interested in single-player modes, and the multiplayer portion can easily be tarnished if you're matched with someone who has a poor internet connection. When the stars align and everything is functioning properly, there's a lot to love here. It doesn't make any efforts to impact gamers and bring in new players. When you have a small community to begin with, the only way to go is down. The only reason to buy Gundam Versus is if you have friends who will play it with you, or if you feel you'd get enough use from the single-player options to merit the purchase.
